  • Finally had a chance to edit footage from a 2019 Sierra High Route attempt.
The Sierra High Route extends from Sequoia-Kings Canyon to Yosemite National Park, boasting roughly 200 miles and 59,000 feet of vertical gain. It is often confused with the High Sierra trail, however these are wildly different adventures.
The Sierra High Route crosses 33 high passes and an infinite number of alpine Lakes, creeks, and tarns. These numbers are somewhat trivial in comparison to the difficulties faced along the High Route as the majority of this trek is not labeled on any maps. Its junctions are not met by signs with mileage or direction, and its terrain is not marred by footprints, but instead large talus blocks and steep scree slopes.
This is part 1 of the effort which includes days 0 (an approach from Onion Valley) and 1 (Southern terminus to South Fork Catridge Creek).
The reason there is a Day zero is simply because I didn't feel dealing with the logistical nightmare of starting on the other side of the mountain range.
Enjoy and feel free to ask any questions pertaining to the video.

It didn't look like you had an inner net in that thing. What did you do to keep the skeeters out?

Yep! I knew right then that I was in trouble. The altitude got me good. Training harder for a successful outing this year.

@@trvrsoutdoors so did you not finish? yea not much you can do about altitude but train at altitude or go hang out for a couple days at altitude before you start...

@@BigDoeJ424 Well, if I had trained to be stronger, it wouldn't have bothered me as much. The problem was I was moving so much slower than I should have that I fell behind on mileage and with a tight schedule, ultimately new that I needed to eventually get off the trail. Then a small storm came and I had a really sweet opportunity to bail to a friends house without hitchhiking and plenty of beer. I took the opportunity.
