Climbing Mt. Langley via Old Army Pass - Southern Sierra High Route (PT. 1)

- In June of 2022, I thought I'd attempt the Sierra High Route (for the second time). This time, I decided to add the Southern Sierra High Route. On day one, I had to summit Mount Langley, even though its not part of the SOSHR. I just wanted to bag this peak! Here is the story.
Disclaimer: I should defnitely note that some of my route descriptions while I am tired and hungry at high elevation are not accurate. For example, at around 9:00 into the video, I describe descending from Langley to Miter Basin as "Sand". The reality is that the lower section including class 3 and 4 downclimbing for all of 700 to 1000 feet. If you aren't careful, you could definitely end up in a bad place. Be careful. Use good judgement out there. Don't commit to anything you can't do in reverse.

Great video! Do you happen to have your track recorded for this? If so, I would love to see it. It would be excellent data for planning my hike for this summer....especially in seeing your route down Langley and General Sherman, into the basin. My Day 2 plan is to go from Cottonwood Lk 3, summit Langley and then down and camp at Sky Blue Lk. Very similar to what you did, but my current plan has no off trail, so will be quite a bit longer than the down you took.
Thanks! and sure. Here is Day 1 and 2 for me on the SOSHR. caltopo.com/m/73C3S
@@trvrsoutdoors This is fantastic, thanks a ton!
Cool stuff.
Bro, where’s the summit beer?😂
I was so dedicated to finishing this year that I didn't bring any alcohol. They tasted sweeter when I got back! 😋
@@trvrsoutdoors You're a better man than me!
Fantastic journey and well-made video! Mind if I ask which app do you use to edit your videos?
Thank you! This is done on Adobe Premiere Pro.
I remember around third week of June 2022 the weather in Sierra above 10k feet went bad and night temp drops down to 20s. Was your trip before that time or after?
Hilarious. During. The last two nights were horrible. I huddled into the bottom if my 40* down quilt and just hunkered. Those were some long nights.
@@trvrsoutdoors you are a tough guy! I was in pine creek trail and still felt cold with my 15 degree quilt back then.
Hey AarJay what tent are you using?
This is the six moon designs Deschutes Plus! Very lightweight. I use it in conjunction with a piece of plastic from home depot as a floor to keep the bugs out.
