Welcome back to our Toyota Coaster School Bus Conversion series!
In today's vlog we share how we managed to build custom roof racks for $400! We were getting quoted in the region of $4000 for a fully built roof rack to be put on top of our Toyota Coaster bus conversion which was just out of the budget for us. Instead, we reached out to the bus community and came up with an alternative which works perfect with mounting solar panels and eventually our roof rack (coming up next!)

You are more than welcome. Glad we could help! We were looking for methods like this everywhere and had no luck! They are still sturdy and going strong 💪🏼

    Hey guys
I would love to know some more details about your roof rack system. What size are the brakets, bolts etc? And where did you have them made. We also have a Coaster and we're at the stage of installing our solar. I love the setup you've come up with. It looks awesome and is exactly what I've been looking for. Any more details you could give would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the awesome content. Your bus looks beautiful ❤

I sell the kits over at @mobilevanfitouts 🙂
These were the first ones ever installed and they have slightly been updated as well an updated mounting method. Shoot through a dm on Instagram of Facebook and we would be happy to help out.

Hi Riyad. We have 2 x 300w solar panels that we purchased from EBay. They supply all the parts necessary for installation. We wired them into our DC2DC Enerdrive battery charger. Which in turn is wired into bus bars, which in turn is wired to the battery 😊

    hey guys love the video!
Currently building my own Mazda t3500 bus. Did you have any issues getting insurance for the bus once roof racks completed and may I ask who you have decided to use.

So how did these work out. Did the wind catch under the solar panels & bend/twist the roof? Or has it held up well?

Great video you guys and ty for the ideas. I am about to start my own roof and was wondering what some measurements were. For example the space between center roof and the first hole? The bracket height and total width, and has anyone got the rib spacings? Thanks.

How much weight do you reckon you can support using mounts directly onto the roof?

This is awesome me and partner are looking at buying a 95 coaster this weekend we are super excited. Could I ask what batteries you chose? We would be using an air fryer and fridge very similar to the set up you have gone with. Also what projector did you go for? Love all of the videos they're great.

Hey Sam! How did you go with the viewing, did you end up buying the 95 coaster? Yes we went with a lithium battery 300AMP hour Voltax battery. Also for the projector do you mean the screen or the projector white blind? Air fryer we nabbed from Aldi and we LOVE it! Fridge is from Thetford and is a pretty great size for the two of us, never need to worry about space in there (apart from when we buy too much wine haha :)
