Thumbs up deserved. Invested time is what we are looking for. Thanks
Thank you! I'm glad people are finding this video helpful.
well....resons for using ballistol:
nontoxic(according to the manufacturers even beneficial)
can be used for leather, wood, cleaning and lubricating(althou I prefer Fluna GunCer for lubricating)
enviromentally friendly
You can even drink it!
@@Gieszkanne Do not try at home
@@halolemon1926 Ok I will drink it not at home anywhere else : )
@@Gieszkanne u are funny very
Nice test, quick video, great commentary!
Really lets me know what I need!
I'm glad my video was helpful!
Thank you for that long term test
Ballistol oil is often offered with high carbon steel knives for protection
WD 40 on the other hand can not be applied to kitchen knives as it is not food grade
Great video ❤
Thanks for watching!
WD and Ballistol fought during WWII
Well done. I use WD40 for getting off the glue left from price tags & labels on glass, metal and plastic products. That's about it.
Just use cooking oil, it's even better and less expensive...
Short and on point.
Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Nicely done comparison. Thumbs up from me.
Thanks!
Good, basic video and no blaring noise.
Thanks for watching Gus!
Found a can of this Ballistol and didnt have a clue what is was. Goes back to German Army during WW2.They used it for their weapons. If it worked for them it'll do nicely for me. Very helpful video. Thanks
Gio Verde *WWI
Originally it even goes back to the year 1904. The German army wanted an oil that can be used for weapons as well as for treatening injuries. Nowadays it is still very popular here in Germany and people use it for almost anything. I know a former soldier from the Bundeswehr who even uses it as aftershave. People say he always smells like a new tank😂
@@taccomaker Amazing stuff👍🏻 I might try some in my cooking😂
Ballistol is the Best Oil
Hickok45 would agree with you!
A pretty good test I think. Neat simple well done. thanks
With ballistic the earlier gun cleaning oil last for 4 Weeks. So clean your gun with ballistic maybe after three weeks if not used. If used maybe one week later
Great video!! Thanks and cheers from Spain
Thanks for watching!
Can you make a video testing lubrication of Motor oil, ballistol and hoppes... In reference to gun external barrel lubricating and protection from rust...
Great test, thank you.
Thanks! Check out my latest CLP showdown:

Good to know on corrosion, ballistol is a way better lubricant though
Thanks this is what I was looking for.
I'm glad you found the video helpful! Check out my CLP and Ballistol playlist!

Ok I understand wd40 helps prevent with the rust issues. But does simple green also helps as well or is it mainly only for cleaning purpose?
Simple green is mostly for cleaning. Like scrubbing rust with a brush or sandpaper.
good test, many people get almost religous when it comes to lubricants or protection stuff, esp when its guns. ive always found wd40 works decently well and its about the easiest stuff to obtain anywhere in the world which is a huge bonus.
wd-40 seems to work better in my experience when it comes to corrosion inhibiting. It is designed for that after all where as ballistol was designed as a multi use product. Always look if you can get WD-40 at a dollar store or such, buying it at home improvement stores is a total rip off
Jusb 1066 ---> Ballistol was specifically invented for firearms. It is probably the first C.L.P. (Cleaner-Lubricant-Protector). It was invented for the German Army before WW1. It works and has for 90+ years. It is based on vegetable products not harsh chemicals.
I know that WD-40 is popular, BUT it will ruin the wood stocks on a firearm. I used to go Pheasant hunting with a guy that owned a Remington Model 1100. He was a bit lazy, so when he got home, he would spray some down the barrel and in the action area, then set the gun on the butt end in the closet. That WD-40 rotted out the stock and he had to replace it.
@@gusloader123 I had not given any consideration to the wooden stock
@@jusb1066 Neither did he. 🤕
I wonder if he ever tried Platinum grade LPS 3, use it in marine and aircraft industry.
Thanks for watching! I have only tries a few CLP's intended for firearms.
Great video!

Nice video
WD-40...not on my guns! That stuff is a cleaner and good for breaking stuck bolts, period. Not good for rust corrosion or lubrication. WD40 is a mixture of oil and solvents. I just don’t use it on guns. It is not the right stuff.
Lucky for you there are a lot of good CLP products to choose from!
I clean my guns with Ballistol. Clean battery terminals in the car then apply Ballistol. Never any corrosion develops on the terminals
MJDT78 D exact... this oil is too chemical and it’s a degrippant also, don’t use this in guns and mechanisms, the ballistol is perfect for that
Well, I use WD40 in my backyard on the unpainted ends of a square steel tubing structure, it gets no rain/water. Spraying every 2-3 months, no rust yet, just shiny metal. For everything else and when there is any plastic around, I do not use WD40, but Sonax SX90 or Corrosion Block. Just trying to get some Ballistol for testing.
I've been using Ballistol on my guns for 35 years. Cleans, lubricates and protects against stains and rust. Best stuff ever!
Make this test again with water. WD 40 indicates that it displaces moisture. I did a test tube test for this. A bit of WD40 and water mixed up. And we can see that WD40 is a bunch of crap ^^
Thanks for watching! I'm really not testing WD-40, I'm just using it for comparison because it is a very common product that just about everyone has experience with. Check out my salt water corrosion test!

@@357magdad Just make a Bit in a Glass and add water. Then watch the magic begin
God I hope nobody uses wd40
Anyone who let's their guns rust for 4 weeks should hand them over to their spouse !!!! Period .
mikeanthony07 Do you or someone make this comment everywhere? :)
Hey nerd, stay focused. This ain't about guns.
Sheesh get a life
Don Schlonski What’s your problem man?
