Friday The 13th: The Series - "Scarecrow" (1988) Scary Halloween-style Episode

- First aired on February 1, 1988 - Episode 11 of Season 1 - Micki and Ryan search for a cursed scarecrow that may be responsible for murder. One of the most popular and scariest of the series episodes.
An old antique dealer made a pact with the Devil to sell cursed antiques. When he dies, his store is inherited by his niece Micki Foster (played by Louise Robey) and her cousin Ryan Dallion (played by John D. LeMay). With the help of Jack Marshak (played by Chris Wiggins), they fight to retrieve the antiques from the people who bought them to stop them from causing harm. The series ran for three seasons, from October 3, 1987, to May 26, 1990, in first-run syndication.
Despite this title of the series, it has no story connections to the film series of the same title, as Jason Voorhees does not make an appearance, nor does any character connected to the films.

I remember staying up with my VCR remote in hand to cut out all the TV ads for this and War of the Worlds way eay back in the day. Happy days.
🎉I was in my early 30's and I loved this show. It was always paired with War of the World's and Freddy's Nightmare on Friday nights! I loved the line-up!! Horrific and surreal at the same time!? Great combination!!!

@@martyfrank3548Omg Tales From the Darkside! I forgot all about that! I loved that show too. This was a real treat finding Friday the 13th AND the Twilight Zone full episodes on the same channel. I neglected to take my garbage out because I'm binging on Fridays haha
I remember this series, and I did love that this episode really had a good bit of the flavor that really marked the dark notes of the series.
Also that last line: *_That scarecrow.. after it killed all of those people: what did it do with the heads??_*
Classic and ominous.. just right for the tone of the episode.

They mis-trained me. To guarantee that I would be stupified.

One of my favorite TV shows as a kid. I would always watch this and Nightmare on Elm Street The series. The 80's had the best tv shows and cartoons.

Same for me. Also, I used to watch the TV series *Monsters*. Those were the days when TV was great! I purchased the Friday the 13th series on DVD recently and Dark Shadows. These things make me happy.

This was like the original Annabelle in some ways it the sense of how it was about cursed objects that needed to be reclaimed .

I remember this show vaguely but I can't recall the time slot. Who would have thought it would be a good idea to show this along with Saturday morning cartoons? Some of the themes were really mature.

I was in my early 20's in the late 80's and loved this show. I didnt watch much TV during that time but I watched this show quite a bit. Thanks for posting, I dont remember seeing this episode.
The farmer purchased the scarecrow but it didn't explain how the killer innkeeper got a hold of it and learned of its curse.

I never thought I'd get to see this show ever again. Wow. And the amount of fans. I loved this show. And even though it's from the late 80s it's not cheesy and still holds my interest. Still has great special effects for its time. What a cool show and definitely a one of a kind. I went looking for Twilight Zone episodes and y'all have both! So great. My daughter explained to me the TV show Supernatural. I then showed her this show. She enjoyed the similarities between the two

When I was a teenager in the 80s and watching this show, I had no idea that it was originally never supposed to be called "Friday the 13th: The Series." Its original title was "The 13th Hour," in reference to the legend of the mythical "13 o'clock." But producer Frank Mancuso Jr., who produced both the series and the Friday the 13th movie sequels, felt that "The 13th Hour" was too vague a title to draw in audiences and opted to call the show "Friday the 13th: The Series" to capitalize on the popularity of the slasher film series despite the television show having no connection to it.
I always hoped that they would make the connection by saying Jason’s mask or machete was a magical object from the curio shop.

@@indigoheyoka1259 Friday the 13th: The Series ran in syndication on UHF channels. The channel it aired on depended on what part of the country you were in and what city you were near.
I too thought it was weird that it didn’t have any connection to the movie but I realized it was supernatural or whatever and if nothing else it associated with things like the superstition about Friday the 13th.
I realize I don’t really know the history or origin of it entirely.
That psycho lady reminded me of Mrs. Voorhees ..she even had a sweater on
This TV show was far more scarier than the Friday the 13th movies.
It's my favorite TV show I remember watching this every night on sci Fi channel back in 1999 I don't remember a year it came on every night at 10 pm

I remember this episode but I don't remember the opening with the kid and his widowed Dad. As I've known my share of farm families it was heart wrenching and creepy!

Me n my brothers used to watch this show all the time as a kid it was almost like 13 ghost of Scooby-Doo except with cursed items n no dogs n kids lol 😂😂😂😂 n the main guy plays on Jason go to the hell n this is kinda link to the movie a little bit ever tho some people say it isn't well it isn't the dude plays different characters on the movie n tv shows but it still cool anyway n the scarecrow episode is kinda like Jason anyway 😎😎😎😎

This Marge Longacre woman I can't stand in any role she has ever played. From this to The Burning Bed to Gone in 60 Seconds.. She is a good actress bc I can't stand the sight of her..

These characters are pretty annoying they all talk so loud so the other characters can over hear them both Ryan and Micki are lousey when it comes to investigating things I certainly wouldn't want to hire those two loud mouths gee wiz
