Our outdoor patio has an exterior wall mount exhaust fireplace vent that's an eyesore. Putting in a real fireplace was not an option, so I DIY built a faux outdoor fireplace to cover up the exhaust vent.

I am a beginner to woodwork, the main test I have with this bundle czcams.com/users/postUgkxTNB_zFBSnTo_O1PqfVUwgi7ityw0JlKt is that I think that its hard to settle on a choice of the plan and outline to use as there are a large portion of them there. Nonetheless, I like the simple stride to step directions laid out there.
This project turned out awesome! One thing I would suggest being an AV guy would be to get an articulating mount for the TV that way you could pull the tv out flush with the stone. Great job!
100% This. Everything looks amazing, except how far inset the TV is. Thankfully it's an easy fix and it'd make this 10/10!
Side note: I really love the wood accent!
Yes, Mantle Mount is a good option
I don't know how you ended up on my feed, but I am hooked and can't wait to watch more of your videos. I am super impressed with this first video, not only do you have an engaging personality, but the editing of your videos is fantastic as well. Content like this is why I love YT. Thank you!
Came out awesome! And your work ethic is crazy inspiring!
I’m a journeyman carpenter and now a custom home builder for the last 12 years. While your terminology isn’t always correct, you are doing a great job and are miles ahead of most DIY CZcamsrs. Keep it up!
I'm really into wood work RN so the second I saw one of your videos I was subscribed. This is just so cool! I love being able to watch different ways to build things! Keep doing what you do!
nobody should be this good!!!! been watching him for years i love it
Great job and always providing courage for others to get out there and do things outside their comfort zone.
2cents, for future projects, aluminum doesn't retain heat like steel will.
Looks Amazing! So many different skills required in this video, well done
This turned out so AMAZING!!!
WOW!!!! Great work.Enjoyed this build..
A chimney free fireplace would of been great!
Remote control trapdoor and Wala outdoor fireplace
It looks great, well done! And the best part of the whole project is; you made zero mistakes, well 60% of the time. :-)
I love what you've done with that fireplace. Looks really good!
Looking at that space, for me, I'd have gone a different direction I think.
I'd have still stoned the wall, but I'd have turned that into a full waterfall wall instead, with uplighting. Perhaps continued it on the floor right through the middle of the seating area as a recirculating river.
As for tv, I'd have just installed a motorised screen on the wall opposite the barbecue and a projector on the opposite wall.
I've never done a DIY fancier than hanging a drapery rod, but I could watch you work all day and enjoy the heck out of doing so. Yay!
Legend, so much grit. Keep rollin!
Dude you inspire me to do a project like this. Great work!
Looks amazing
You are such an inspiration for me
Keep up the mightily impressive work mate
looks fantastic. BTW, using cooking spray like PAM is another great way to release concrete from a mold.
Great job, it looks incredible.
Well done!!!! Congratulations. perfect choise
That is absolutely gorgeous!
I am super impressed
Nicely done. Looks really great.
That barn wood is GORGEOUS!
That mantel is BEAUTIFUL!!
Great work ! Beautiful mantel.
Beautiful job man, just beautiful!
Did my man say "Herth"? He's breaking my "hert". This was an outstanding project, and honestly, I didn't see anything that a total layman couldn't build with a little planning and patience. That is how easy he made it look. Well done! The patio looks awesome.
Ok no one cares that he said herth
@Eva Karmali How do we learn? By being corrected when doing something wrong. If you had spinach in your teeth, would you want to be told, or would you prefer embarrassing ignorant bliss? We like the videos enough to like and subscribe and comment because we want more and better content. Without critique, how can you improve?
awesome colors. perfect choice
Wowza!!
Great job, man. It looks awesome
This might be your most impressive project so far, lots of different skills needed to complete this
Wow, thanks
Nice work man. One thing Id suggest is retire the asphalt felt for good - its dinosaur stuff. Get a small roll of synthetic roof underlayment like Dupont protec. Its light, doesnt tear easy and will far outlast any felt. And you can put it on very flat unlike felt. I know its for roofs, but it would be definitely better than the felt in any application. Always looking forward to your next vid. Keep up the great work.
That is some good looking work, man!
U did an amazing job, I love building things
Dude! That turned out awesome!
Looks awesome. a few things I would of done as well was move the inside fireplace exhaust with metal fireplace exhaust pipe to the top somewhere and then install another fireplace for the outside witch would of looked killer instead of a black metal screen covering the exhaust location where it looks like a fireplace should be. And another thing I would do is stick the TV on a wall mount so you can pull it out flush with the stone wall and or tilt it up or down and turn it right or left depending on your seating location. But man what a killer idea and project you did👍
Killed it. Looks great
Dude, that barn wood looks AMAZING
WOW that’s amazing
Great Project! I would put one of those LED fireplaces, I was wondering, why not put one of those sun shades or “pergolas” going from one side of the valley of the house to the other, to provide some shade when sitting out there, looks amazing!!
Great job. Love it. One critical remark...osb and 2x4s running bottom to top should have gap as to not touch concrete foundation.
Looks WAY better than before. Maybe someday down the road you'll find a way to make the fake fireplace usable. Great job!!
I dont think he can. I don't even think this would pass code. The fireplace exhaust is not fully exposed. He can't put an electric insert in without doing the same to inside.
Smaller tv or monitor inside it and just feed a fire CZcams channel!
Great Work, Dude !
this is dope!!
Beautiful brother!❤💯👍
Great job I love the beam 👏
Awesome improvement enough said.
Looks great! That’s a lot of stone work.💪🏻
Thanks 👍
Such a legend!
Impressive!!
Turned out pretty nice man good choice on colors. You did a pretty good job from a masons point a view but next time you do wire lathe make sure you use more nails to secure it. They should be about 6 to 8 inches apart.
Looks good! Have you checked out the stone that has a metal flange and is screwed onto your walls? “Premiere outdoor living” uses it on their channel and it looks similar through the screen but doesn’t require mortar to attach.
tremendos job
I watch all your videos and this one might be my favorite. All of it looks great. I might tackle something similar in the near future. Also disregard all the CZcams “construction experts” that are quick to give shade before praise.. we all have to make mistakes to learn and this project you did awesome man!
Awesome! Thank you!
Savage that's clean
You would make an awesome next door Neighbour mate !!
Possibly put on some bifold doors on either side of the TV opening. Keep it closed to help prevent any elements from reaching the TV.
Great job, I like it
I'm digging it
Wonderful job
Fantastic!
Wish I had the energy to work on stuff
If that’s all you did for a living you would
@@MarcYanOfficial some people are hindered by a health condition. Normally, I'm very active -- playing sports, traveling, hiking, biking, and I worked in a cabinet shop for years. Currently, I'm trying to clean and renovate an old Japanese house. However, I got to a point I couldn't even walk half a block without running out of breath and stopping to rest. Found out it was a large tumor on my right kidney. When I saw this guy working on the faux fireplace, I thought the same thing: "I wish I had that energy."
It's not always about just needing more exercise.
Beautiful😊😊
Very nice work!! Looks GREAT!!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great work!
Really cool. Just a suggestion. Add flame led lights behind your fireplace screen. So it will look like fire at night.
I was so impressed, I subscribed.
Looks great can’t wait for next project
More to come!
Great Work 👍
Dude, you work hard. All the hours of work, and pushing through project fatigue came across in the vid. Final product looks amazing!
Q: Do you and Irina see all this potential when looking at new homes to buy? Do you map out what projects to work on after you purchase? Thanks in advance!
Fake @mrbuildit spam
Money and time well spent from what I'm looking at. I've done something similar, only I actually built an electric fake flame fireplace to cover the main hole. I also added a few lights to really add some use and aesthetic value.
I love watching your videos
I don't know if you came up with that idea yourself, but it's a brilliant way to hide that ugly vent... Well done.
Great job man. That looks awesome!
And someone already said it, but it is “harth” like heart but with an H at the end.
Lol!... "It felt like a year for me." (I can only imagine.) Beautiful work, as always!
Ual ficou top eu sou pedreiro iideia boa amei 👏👏👌👌👍
This came out absolutely amazing. I personally would have mounted the tv a little further out so if you’re sitting down the bottom of the tv doesn’t get blocked
well that turned out epic
I agree with everyone it does look nice my concern is safety did you happen to look up your installation man online to find out what the clearance was for the vent cap on the outside looking at it it looks like it’s an HHT product which would be heatilater or heat and Glo I am guessing a Novus 42 but I can’t tell from the video the three things that concern me the most is you’ve added the alcove to your vent location, the distance from the top of the vent to the bottom of the soffit you added I don’t believe meets minimum clearances. The way those vents work which I’m sure you’re aware of uses 100% outside air through the vent and bust the bad gases carbon monoxide etc. out through the center of that. The problem with that is how hot the exhaust gases are and then you taste them with combustible even though you’ve covered it with stone It’s still is a combustible and it’s not that you’re going to have a fire tomorrow it’s just after a few years of drying those studs out that lowers the combustion temperature. My suggestion would be to call the manufacturer or the distributor of that fireplace ask your Builder if you don’t know where it came from or simply look down below where the valve and stuff is and you will see how you are listed tag with that will give you the manufactures name and model number with that you can find them in the Yellow Pages if you can find any yellow pages in 2022 lol I think you know what I mean. Most of the fireplace companies in my area anyway will at least guide you as far as safety clearances go. Build is awesome. I wouldn’t change a thing.
Great project! It inspires me to hire someone. LOL
Great Work!!
Thanks a lot!
Love it
Great job!, You could add led lights behind the tv!
Got to say I love the Bill Nye it's been a minute
Should have done a see thru fireplace
Very nice
Man this turned out awesome. Did you by any chance think about accordion style doors to protect the tv during storms or winters.
I bet your wife loves this channel. How many families are this bless to get their wish list done.
Love this! Where did you get the fireplace screen?
Great job man! really love watching your videos. I am looking to buy a nail gun and I don't really know which gauge I should get. I won't do any fine woodworking. What would you recommand? or anyone else in the comments ahah
great work man .. I suggest to install a tv mount that can scoop in and out ..
Thanks for the tip
Very nice work, looks amazing. The only thing I believe I would have done different would have been for the outlet, is to you a GFI unit since it's outside.
Brazilian meme Nazaré Tedesco at 15:00 hahahahah. Btw great job as always!
Why make it faux? Just throw a ventless gas log in there for cheap and connect it to the natural gas line. Great work.
Another amazing video! Are you happy with the way the TV sits in-word? Just curious.
electrician here, and I feel the need to nitpick. the wire should be strapped within 8'' of the box since you had the ability to. and you need to use a WR outlet and enclosure due to being outside, not a regular outlet with plate.
I'm not an electrician but I'm soooooo happy to see someone else noticed that. My skin was crawling watching him put that in.
What’d you use for the mantle?
