    In this video I have a 2014 Sprinter with a code P261F. This code indicates that the coolant change over valve is stuck on or blocked. Sounds confusing doesn't it? Well I will walk you through the process of how to diagnose and repair this vehicle. At the end you will understand how this system works and how to test it without a factory scan tool. I used my Redline Detection Speed Smoke machine to verify the vacuum system was ok. Join me in this journey. Let's go check it out.

    Thank you for sharing this ... ''hard to come by information'' ... !!! My 2.1 keeps getting this P261F code after replacing wp/reservoir/cross over valve ... I did put an aftermarket pump. Thanks to you, I now know what and how to check this system. I suspect the ''ordered online" pump, but will check to confirm. Cheers and keep up the good work !!!

      @NutsandBoltswithTone next question. If this is just a way to check the integrity of the water pump could we add a pump separate so that if there was a failure there would be
      No risk of contamination or do you think a separate vac tank would work where the vac hoses connect Ina way that does not contaminate and possibly also add small glass fuel filter.

    best explanation, I was wondering how the vacuum system tied into the water system

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  Před 8 měsíci +2

      So if you watch this video and listen to the explanation as to what is going on with this one and how to diagnose this and properly repair it. Basically the water pump has a diaphragm inside that is to create a blockage to heat up engine faster. well this diaphragm is actuated with vacuum, when the seal inside the water pump fails the vacuum system pulls coolant from the water pump and that is how it gets into the vacuum system. Thank you for watching.

    My van had no boost in the morning for the first 3 to 5 minutes.....I "temporarily fixed" the problem by replacing the vacuum line that splits and goes to the water pump change over solenoid and to the turbo wastegate solenoid. Change it to a single line that goes directly to the wastegate solenoid. 2 weeks running with no problems and no codes

    So Im a Bit Confused and of course im in the middle of a diag on one of these. Are so Saying That on a COLD Start , when Vacuum is applied to the Pump the Temparture is SUPPOSED too rise ??? or is it supposed to rise AFTER the Vacuum and Switch Valve are SHUT OFF ???

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  Před rokem

      During cold start the coolant temp should not rise, until the vacuum switching valve turns off. This is to help the engine warm up faster for emissions. Once the vacuum valve turns off coolant should rise within the proper amount of time. It is actually very confusing. It took me quite a while to figure it out and understand. There is also not much info for this. The 2.1 has almost no info out there so I am working hard to get as many videos on the 2.1 as possible. I have made quite a few now. Thank you for watching. If you have any further questions message me on my instagram.

    Great video. I have 2015 Sprinter 2.1 engine. vault code P012800 - coolant temperature below specified threshold occurred 02/22 twice and went away. Occurred again last week and was diagnosed by MB tech with same code. Visual inspection did not show any signs of dried coolant in vacuum lines. Noticed minimal coolant loss since new but it was only detected in the last few months. any suggested causes of that vault code?

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  Před rokem

    My Mercedes Sprinter came from Fed Ex fleet and after I purchased it, the water pump code came on. I purchased the OEM pump and belt with the new tensioner kit. After the Brand-new pump was installed, a week later, the same code came on. My mechanic said if coolant got sucked into the sensor from the last repair, the sensor was bad, Not the pump. What is the part number for the sensor?

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone
      @NutsandBoltswithTone  Před rokem

      I am unsure of what sensor he is talking about, there is a solenoid above the water pump that actuates the pump, there is also a vacuum reservoir on driver side of engine that gets coolant in it and can cause problems as well. From what I heard the coolant can get sucked all the way to the vacuum pump. Thank you for watching

    Hi. Thank you for your video.
    Need some help.
    My 2014 bluetec 2.1 sprinter went to Field measure. At time of bring in for that procedure van drives with a lot of power , gears switched well no issues (355k km). After I got my van back after FM it started holding on switching the gears+ lost of power. In few days of driving DEF msg came out with 10 start remaining warning.( The tank with DEF was full. I brought the van back to dealership - they changed something related to DEF system and explained that luck of power is causing by water pump issue and gave my option to change it to get power back. I stated I need my van same condition as I brought first time and not going to pay any other repair causing by Field measure.
    There ismsg from Mercedes dillership: Hi Ivan, I have been assured by my workshop foreman that once you give us the go ahead with the replacement of the defective water pump and associated contaminated valves, your vehicle will run as designed with full power.
    Please let us know when you would like to bring it in.
    It cost 2500$
    What is your opinion on it?
    Water pump is original I think needs to be renewed but never got any code of engine light.
    Thank you

    • @NutsandBoltswithTone

      Sorry for your troubles, the water pump can cause problems because the vacuum system controls the egr, the waste gates for the turbos, and those can all cause issues like that. Most likely the water pump has leaked into the vacuum system. Message me on my instagram if you have any further issues. Thanks for watching.
