NEW NEW UPDATE OCTOBER 2023 - turns out this cart is now officially my worst purchase ever - another cartridge in poor condition sold for around ~$3000
NEW UPDATE July 28, 2023: one finally auctioned on eBay! It sold for $5200. Some minor label wear to it. You should be easily able to find the listing if you want to check it out (until eBay removes it).
Old Update: a copy of this sold on November 4, 2022, for $7200 on Heritage Auctions.
I purchased this one back in May 2022 for $8000. That is a value loss of $800 minimum between sales, or -10%. (I say minimum because the seller isn't going to walk away with $7200, and no guarantee I would either).
I enjoy transparency on these kinds of things.

Normally I would be against buying any game for that much, but considering what this is, I get it. There can't be that many of these in circulation.
Granted, I also bought two copies of a nearly complete Atari 2600 game so I could keep the "complete" version I cobbled together out of it and sell the rest to recoup some of my cost.
I ended up paying $600 (roughly) for both auctions and sold the remainder of the items for just about $300 and I walked away with my "complete'" version.

That cartridge has the whole game on it. Hackers were able to bypass the demo and play the full game months before it came out. I remember hearing about it when it happened and I've seen a few videos that mention it before. It was a really dope time for video games.
Yeah you can do that with the silent hill demo that came with MGS
Quite a bit later, but there was a really easy glitch you could do to get unlimited playtime and leave the demo area on Just Cause 2. IIRC most of the game was there and you could even do some missions.

I saw and played this once at our local Toys'R'Us (which is now gone :'( ) and it completely fooled me as a kid. 1 it needed the expansion pack which we didn't have, 2 it was so different we were baffled as to why the real copy didn't have a damn thing. I mean, my family and I were young at the time, but I"m so glad you found that! I KNEW something like this existed!

@@Darkkomics It’s a HDMI converter, you can find some on the internet for $20 it takes in the comp cables and outputs a HDMI cable.

I have a way to clear memory of playing that beta cart as a kid in walmart. Something i remember that no one else seems to though is that In that Demo Cart, the Majora's Mask was wearable and when equipped it would turn you into the skull kid, you shuffled around like the skull kid did, and while in clock town the citizens would run away screaming with the stock link scream.

This is really cool man. I'm happy to own a boxed copy of Ocarina of Time Collectors Edition for N64 but that's nothing compared to this. Maybe you might have had to pay 10-12K for one in a year or so if you tried to save a few bucks and it didn't work out and have to pay more later. The opportunity presented itself and you seized it, what matters is you got one, and the one you got seems super nice in terms of condition, congrats on an awesome pickup and a grail of N64 collecting!!!

I remember playing the beginning of the game at a kiosk in a toys r us when I was a kid. I didn't play it very long, but it went on to be my favorite game in the series growing up.

Im currently playing Majora's mask on the collectors edition disk that I got for $65 on ebay used, it comes with an empty inventory but all the satisfaction of actually completing one of the hardest games they ever made in the zelda franchise..
I remember these, I played one at the local Toys R Us for weeks prior to the launch and was super, super hyped. $8000? I guess most of them were sent back to Nintendo or simply discarded to the elements... I'm not sure I'd pay that but I'm sure this thing has some value to speedrunning or historical record. Hope the price was worth it.

The intro for the Remix on there has Bun B speaking instead of Pimp C (RIP) & it's never surfaced to the internet & it's diff from the CD Promo & 12" Vinyl. I opened it cuz it was sealed & digitized it. Now I'm reselling for $199. If it never sells owell. I just have A LOT of Unreleased or Rare UGK.
