- Thanks to Dale Stevenson who gave me some pointers on a number of sins for the script. Mortal Kombat 1 is not great but enough to say, meh I enjoyed it for what it is. I was expecting more from NetherRealm and Ed Boon. WB Games should learn from this and actually take their time with the next game. Don't come out with another Mortal Kombat game unless its great.

Had Shang Tsung told Barakka what he was doing and why he needed the spinal fluid he may have volunteered it. Especially if it could eventually lead to a cure down the road

To play devil's advocate: perhaps Shang Tsung was the one who intentionally infected Mileena. That way, he'd ensure Sindel's approval to venture out into the Wastelands to collect blood samples (with soldiers aiding him). He'd be in full control of Mileena's antidote; giving her just enough to temporarily stagnate or reverse the mutations. Meanwhile, he'd conduct further experiments on people for his own sinister purposes. This, Sindel would not be made aware of. Also, if Baraka knows that Shang Tsung has some kind of cure, he'd want to have access to it, and he'd want Tsung to produce more; to remedy the disease and help all of his people. If Tsung then doesn't comply, Baraka would probably lead an armed force to his lab, and try to capture him, and force him to produce for him. It would be a nuissance for Shang Tsung, and so he doesn't inform Baraka what the blood (or marrow) is for. Keeping him in the dark would be more beneficial. It's also better not to have the aid of Baraka, because then Sindel would expect quiker and better results, as he'd now have plenty of specimens to take the fluids from. Some might've even called for mass production. Shang Tsung is not a physician concerned with people's well-being. He's a cunning strategist who uses others to further his own agenda. It's not his intention to cure Mileena. She's just a convenience.
@@XaeeD I have something to say about this myself. It is incompetent of Shang Tsung to sell cures that don't work. I know it's supposed to be in keeping with his character, but it's just plain stupid. Why gain infamy as a snake oil salesman, when you could have renown as a healer? Tsung has the time and intelligence to create a curve for many diseases, including Tarkat. How could make Barska's people an army of super soldiers. Why would he not do that?
Here's a tip when you do these gaming sins videos: Only show the parts that you are going to sin.
You could reduce the length to about a third of what it is now if you didnt pad out the video with useless parts that you dont even sin to begin with.

MKIceAndFire's all cut-scenes from Mortal Kombat 1 has 3h30min of cinematics, while the MK11 base game has 3h22min. Add the fights and most people will need over 6 hours for either game's story. Even if the chapters are slightly shorter, MK1 has 15 chapters compared to 12 chapters in base MK11. So MK1's story is without a doubt slightly longer than MK11's base story, which was longer than MKX's (2h24min worth of cinematics) story. So either Aftermath scewered your view on this or you have a bias towards the older titles. Also, nobody forced you to pay 120 Bucks. You could have paid 70 bucks or 95 bucks for Premium Edition. If you don't think the content is worth it, pay less, I did.
Indeed. I paid zero bucks. That's what I think no content is worth, and I'm ok with that. I can wait until the pricetag drops, or content is added that I think would be worth playing.
Ngl as a female I got tired of all the hollow girlboss moments, amongst other things. Thankfully, Bi-han (if evil why hot), Kung Lao and Kenshi are fine as hell and my shallow self just focused on them.
17:12 you have a good point about Kenshi and Kung Lao, i think Liu Kang is referring to this new timeline when he says that nobody's been injured or killed, he probably wouldn't bring up something from MK9, as that would be irrelevant to their current timeline

In every MK game,there have always been contradictions and loop holes between and with characters that NRS has made no actual effort to clarify. To be honest, I don't think NRS cares anymore and even they have obviously lost the plot.
Long as Sindel is fixed thanks to Liu Kang resetting the Mortal Kombat timeline, I'm good.
As for the sin about him controlling her he power. Liu Kang probably didn't want to take that chance is what he is saying. Maybe he could have handled the power, but there is no guarantee that it wouldn't drive him mad
Yeah, the implication is that Kronika got crazy because she wanted to micromanage every single detail about the timeline. A pre-match intro of Liu Kang with Geras hints that as well.
Bo Rai Cho must have done very traumatic to Liu Kang in the past timeline that he turned him from a drunk creep to an old woman.

1:00:51 I want to clarify on this. "Aren't they titans as well?" Are you referring to Liu Kang's side or Shang Tsung's side. If you're referring to Liu Kang's side, then yes, they're titans. But, if you're referring to Titan Shang Tsung's side, the answer is no.
The warriors Titan Shang Tsung brings with him are not the titans from the other timelines. It is in his timeline bec. he thought that they're are only two timelines that time. If you watch the scene when Titan Shang Tsung arrives at the Hourglass, he will admit that.

Smart phones in mortal Kombat is sinful as heck, especially when mortal Kombat 1 is supposed to be in the 90s,why does developers keep adapting timelines wrong? for what, to attract new players? that's nonsense, no wonder I get lost every time I play the part 1 of each game in general, also adapting wrong should be a game sin too.

37:29-37:34 We can assume that Smoke has to concentrate in order to levitate. Once he started falling he couldn't focus enough to resume levitating.
39:54-40:01 He didn't heal because the intense heat of the molten gold cauterized his flesh which prevented regeneration. Its the same way Heracles beat the Hydra.
41:54 That's a sin right there. Kitana is stated in-game to be 10, 000 years old, yet she still needs to be told "you must be smarter." I don't mind her being characterized as "well-meaning but still has a lot to learn" but she really should have been de-aged.

I also did appreciate the return of Dark Raiden, but can someone explain why he's the only one that retains his MK11 design? I noticed that and I was like "what?". It would have been cool if Titan Shang Tsung and every fighter from his timeline also retained their MK11 designs.
2:27 Ed Boon said it's because they wanted a universal version of the Stance system. I think making it universal just made it inferior, though. Maybe if they made tag fights like in MvC (or in MK9), it would have been fine.
34:15 And here we have another problem with the Kameo system. Kenshi is occupying the Kameo slot for your team in this fight, but, outside of the story mode, you cannot pick Kenshi as Kameo Fighter. What's the point, then?

This game does suck:
1. The kombat is slower than MK11
2. Cameo characters are NOT playable and they are pointless.
3. NO SUB-BOSS TO FIGHT
4. Shang w/ Quan Chi cameo is the boss....can anyone say DEADLY ALLIANCE

NRS should stop with the switch and not even try with it at all, the switch can't handle the content for Mortal Kombat at all.👎🏾👎🏾👎🏾
There are simply so many problems in this story that could TOTALLY be solved with proper choices but instead they all went dumb mode simply because NRS forces them to, in order to create references and connections to the old and original stories (the formation of Shirai Ryu, Mileena infection and her bias towards Tanya, Shao treachery, Reiko useless apppearance, Kenshi being blind after receiving 2 lethal stabs to his eyes, the whole story of Havik and Rain - I swear, or the hesistance in exterminating enermies of certain characters, and after all Liu Kang and his dumb decisions), coming together with rootless stories; we never get to see how Quan Chi became the man he is, we did get a beginning scene for Shang Tsung but that's it and the power he learnt, never got mentioned. Also, the idea of letting the sidekick beat the Deadly Alliance (this one is even more dangerous since one is a Titan) after they mopped Liu Kang on the floor is crazy, let alone the sidekick wins. Shang Tsung has absorbed every single powerful creature's power in the universe, he even has the crown (which disappeared for obvious plot armour reasons), combining with the most powerful sorcerer in Netherrealm and you say an alternative sidekick handled them all? Hell nah, ain't buying that lmaoooo.

In MK9 Ermac ending, it was revealed that Ermac contained Jerrod's soul in it and he gained control of the body. I guess they did the same here.
Quan Chi uses the souls in the Living Forest to create Ermac and one of those souls is Jerrod's.

Ermac is scarlet witch but knows martial arts if you get into his sight he can throw you around or rip you in half the only way to beat him is have the speed of the flash and be too quick for him to catch

The entire game is trash. NRS has run out of ideas so they figure retelling an old story with loads of contradictions and senselessness is the way to go.
Also,Kameo fighters are pointless: you cannot play as them and their attacks are limited. Also,never explained why Shao Kahn has horns now. There are very few good changes here; but 95% of it all purely sucks. MKX is my MK.
Also, it's a kick in the balls to the fans who were highly anticipating Onaga to return. THIS MK IS JUST THE AFTER PARTY TO MK11 AND IT SUCKS.

You pay what you want to pay, when ever it more or less. The price for standard version have been like that for years now. When games get bigger and better looking, so does the development cost, and when that gets bigger, so does the games price.
The fact that most of the sins were given because of price is silly.
Silly maybe but deserved. I finished the game within 3 hrs. 120 is way too overpriced.

Okay, in regards to MK1's story, what exactly is the point of anything that's happening? Not only from a narrative standpoint, but from a meta one too.
MK1 was supposed to be a "new" start to things. But every problem solves itself and everyone is almost a carbon copy of their original counterpart with only surface level changes. (Except Tanya, who was made different but also really ugly for some reason)
Shang Tsung is still just Shang Tsung. Quan Chi, is still Quan Chi. Johnny Cage is still Johnny Cage. Heck, Ermac might as well have been copy pasted.
It feels like the story is so afraid to try anything new beyond 'member berries or references to what they were. With many characters feeling like either downgrades or just painfully wasted potential. (Looking at you Baraka and the Tarkat rebellion)
Meanwhile, games like Street Fighter 6 move forward with both a new identity, tone and new characters.
Which leads me to my other point; being that with the introduction of infinite branching timelines, nothing that happens in MK matters anymore. What difference does it make if we beat Titan Shang Tsung at the end when there is an infinite number of variants of not just him, but EVERY character who can come into the timeline at any point.
Not that there was ever even a feeling of the good guys maybe losing, but what did it matter if they even did? Even in the end of the Story Mode, we can play as another variant of Titan Lui Kang.
I'm just trying to figure out if there are any stakes involved in this anymore.

That’s shows that you work like the flash and I work a god damn snail lol, but with that being said,Idk why you’re surprised that game companies would stoop this low to charge you 120$ for garbage. Konami is currently charging 80$ for volume 1 of the MGS master chef collection, and the PC port of that doesn’t even have keyboard and mouse support. That’s like having this game that’s changed at 120$ drop on pc then consoles later and when it drops on Console your not able to play it unless you plug in a keyboard and mouse. On a scale of 1 to 10 how mad would you be lol ?

I do put in a few hrs of work sure but you have a disadvantage compared to me. You have to cut and trim every clip... and then you have to manually move each clips my software does it both features automatically. You work harder for sure. As for metal gear solid volume 1, it's not 80 bucks. It's 60. I don't care for the no mouse and keyboard feature. It doesn't bother me since I don't use mouse n keyboard. But the fact that the game will run on 30 fps bothers me for sure.
@@syinyjuan93 Its still dumb for a pc port of a game to not at least give you the option to play with a mouse n keyboard though. Not every pc gamer has a controller, and the fact that's its locked at 30fps, 1080p is highest it can go no matter what pc or monitor you have and there is no widescreen option from what I've heard, it might as well not have a PC at this point.

But I STI have the PS3 version, no need to constantly replace batteries with a rechargeable controller. Simple, but effective. I might get an X BOX ONE for Christmas. You and I should collaborate it another video in two months. Skyrim, or the old god of war games? You're choice. That said I can give you tons of sins for Skyrim. We could work on a 2 hour video and all the sins would be legitimate.

So having replayed injustice 2 it makes sens why Shang Tsung does what he did. In Bains ending he now rules, but is bored. It shows that if a villian really ruled everything they would grow bored and i think Shang Tsung knows this. We wants them to at least have a chance because if he wins he will just be bored out if his mind it's more exciting when you have someone to go against

Don't know where you're getting your numbers from, but mk1 has the longest story mode of every mk so far.
The voice acting in this game is kinda horrendous besides Johnny Liu and the edenian cast besides Tanya but Megan fox its like she never even tried but smoke is played by a professional voice actor but doesn't have the voice of an assassin he sounds like he's trying to make his voice deeper which he just doesn't have but Bi han is just sad because he's a cool character but Tanya's is bad too and nobody else has brought that up also why is every cuss word censored in a RATED M GAME

The story is the only good thing about modern Mortal Kombat other then that it’s a street fighter clone with that 2D fighting style when ok yes MK started off like that but became more unique with the ability to move 360 degrees around the arena. The death traps on some levels in Deception and Armageddon were awesome and they got rid of them the stage fatalities only work once the finisher is available. And the games were smoother to play the characters with too
There was no konquest mode in mk11.
Maybe it's not called conquest. But it's that krypt mode that played like conquest.

My biggest issue is actually its not mkx. Or similar. I think mkx had the best gameplay. Im not a fan of kameo, but i domt think the fame is bad in terms of gameplay. I think its better then 11, but they were lazy eith some characters and put alot of thought into others. Like kenshi is just so cool in this game.
I respect your opinion but this garbage isn't better than 11. I think they've just jumped on the 'let's do a remake and make money' bandwaggon.
@@jagger198 I think it is just more out of personal preference. I think variation system in 11 was trash and it didn't really have as many combo options unless you hit crushing blows which you only got once a match and some were stupidly situational. There both not nearly as good as mkx tho.

There are many sins I cannot agree with, for example one was saying Raiden was only training for a couple of months when really he's been training for years, or the sin of Kenshi not taking the sword when Johnny cage's back was turned, the problem is Johnny cage heard the door, and knew someone was coming in. There are a plenty of problems in the game, and story mode, but that it's a well made game that you didn't have to pay 120 dollars, no one forced you to, but I can understand the frustration on the price tag. I myself just bought the 70 dollar version.

I have to disagree with you on the Cameo system I think it's okay for a good concept for a fighting game. But I agree with you that they should look back at the running button from a MKX.👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾😃😄
I'm sure there's plenty of ppl who thought it was a good idea or got the hang of the combos system but I do hope the running button comes back next game
