@@hatoraidcowboy Works perfect so far. Pretty cool addition to the theater. Much appreciated. However, doesn't seem like it's possible to do with the Apple TV. One would think that would be a no brainer for Apple HomeKit. There are a couple of non-verified plugins but I dont think they work from what I could see.
Thanks! Glad you got it all setup and working…..Yea you would think Apple would have some type of bespoke integration with Homekit and all of their smart home works with Homekit devices and apple tv. Really is a head scratcher.
To add some informatoin on IP : a Static IP is when you configure the network card of the zidoo for exemple, or your Pc with an IP.
For DHCP we talk about reserved IP, and in your router ( DHCP SERVER) you can choose to let a Machine have always the same IP you have choosen.

The setup was working good but when i added it to my home kit it says no response but on the home bridge accessories tap everything works perfectly fine i dont know whats wrong
That’s odd. If there’s no response maybe the sensor’s arent responding. Hard to tell
Hello Hatoraid Cowboy Cinema, for a non-static IP address (DHCP Option). You mentioned the IP address will change every time you unplug and re-plug the network cable. That is not true. DHCP option leases all non-static addresses for a period of time (days) currently set in the DHCP table in the router. Once the lease expires and the device is rebooted or restarted it would need to request a new IP address from the router. The router would then reply with a new IP address from the same IP network. I hope this is not too confusing or geeky. LOL

What do you mean by external screen?
@@hatoraidcowboy similar to what you did for Plex outside your theatre room. But it looks like the only way is possible with the generic plug-in for the movie poster app. I will test this out and report back. I think this is the closest thing to a kscape for those who don’t have the bucks for one.
Yea unfortunately there’s no support in Movieposter for Zidoo devices.

@ Depends on which model you have. You need to buy one with an internal hard drive. Or use one externally with an external hard drive enclosure then connect via usb cable.
I have a zidoo UHD 5000. I am wondering what 3.5” HDD you would recommend. Zidoo has an internal storage of 60 GB and I can insert 2x HDD with a capacity of up to 2x16 TB.
@JardaMaly I would use a network rated drive to ensure longevity. WD Red’s are pretty good.
It looks like I should have got the Zidoo instead of the Zappiti! :(
Their both good, I prefer the Zidoo though.
Hello Jordan, that was very informative. Does the new Zidoo devices come with that new skin already pre-installed. I went to download the file but my anti-virus flagged it as dangerous. However, like your Home Automation you did with HomeKit. I am using Home Assistant so this may not work with YAML files in Home Assistant. I appreciate your hard work and other can learn from it. Keep up the good work.

Thank you Paul! The Z20 Pro does not have the Skin and I’ve tried installing it on the Z20 Pro and it doesnt work. It says it successfully installed but still shows the old skin.

I did have a Zappiti for a few weeks. I have a first impressions video on my channel where I compared it to PLEX

As far as functionality and playback, they are both equal in terms of file playback compatibility. However I disliked the UI on the Zappiti and the remote was horrible. But its a great player. I prefer the Zidoo and now that I can Homekit integration Zidoo wins hands down.
@@hatoraidcowboy I just scored a Dune HD Ultra Vision 4k RTD 1619 RD at my local auction for a really good deal $200. I haven’t picked it up yet but would you say it’s comparable to this. Very well done in depth review of the Zidoo by the way. I can’t find one video on youtube in English about it but I will use it to replace my nvidia shield which has gotten slower and slower over time even though I connected another storage to it to expand storage. It could free up the need of devices I have like brennan b2 since it does have a dac. I would most likely give the shield to my daughter room or the apple tv 4. I hope its easy to configure I just don’t like the animations compared to the shields. It looks like such a older version of android.

I have the 2017 version. The 2019 version supports DV. But its still limited compared to Zidoo & Zappiti players. Still a great device though no question and it will serve a place in my home somewhere

Initially, I thought you were going to control Zidoo via HomeKit which got my attention. Realizing that you were creating scenes with your lighting and HVAC like a Control4 is cool just the same. Hopefully someday we can have it all on one screen/device to control AV equipment and scenes.

Thank you! Hopefully one day these companies can start integrating their players with matter for native compatibility instead of a middle man like Homebridge, but its still a way to integrate it. I wanted to make a video for anyone who doesnt mind using Homebridge. There’s zero videos on youtube on how to do this.
@bigdogaxis, you can actually control the the Zidoo player with this Hombridge plugin. After installing it the Zidoo devices also appears in the “Apple TV Remote” section of Control Center. The remote control has a D-pad, return, enter, pause/play, info, and on/off buttons available.
Also, the play, pause, stop switches control the device and you have the option to add any other “Button” from the original remote control as a switch in HomeKit.
