Enjoyed looking through this list of the most expensive 1970's Topps Baseball card, I was 11years old in 1971, I still have my complete set of the 1971 year, I have many of the 1970 Topp set along with 72', 73 & 74 cards, thank you again
Frank Thomas 1990 Leaf, one of my favorites.
Me too. Love that whole 90 Leaf set.
I have that card and the 1990 leaf Griffey Unfortunately I don’t think it’s PSA worthy.
I loved his rookie sensation card too
I got one
Very helpful! I'm going through 25 binders of 1970s, 80s and 90s cards that were given to me. The first thing I found when I opened the tote was an autographed Ken Griffey Jr. ball. This is going to be fun! I am watching all of your videos while I sort ...
Two lists for one video, what a great value.
Great video! Really enjoy these. Look forward to more.
Enjoyed as usual. Please don't stop doing these, they are priceless to some people.
I think that Mantle & Griffey duel auto is one of the coolest cards ever. That card is signed by the most popular player of 4 decades worth of MLB. Even today where auto cards are in every product that would probably be the best card (of course the Mantle auto would have to be a cut, RIP). Could you imagine pulling that card 30 years ago? I can't...I lost it when I pulled an Barry Bonds Elite from a box of Donruss back then.
Totally agree. The Mantle/Griffey is ridiculous
You are great because you get right to the point. No BS. Some of these talking heads love to hear themselves talk.lf there was an MVP OF THE Hobby it's you HANDS DOWN.THANK YOU CHRIS !
Wow congrats! 😳✌
My buddy stole a pack from a Party Fair in NJ and pulled the Griffey/Mantle auto. Don’t know what happened to it since…
Griffey Jr's 1990 Leaf card is criminally under valued in PSA 9 and up, that's an Iconic card.
It really is. I love that card and set. I haven't seen the pop report, but every one of those I've pulled in my life had crappy centering. Which I always found odd, centering wasn't really a big issue with 1990 leaf.
I live just outside of Seattle a buddy ask what I would say to kid Griffey if I was to meet him , my reply was roses are red and violets are blue Seattle never went to the world series and nether did you , I would much rather meet Reggie Jackson what I would say to Reggie is 5 rings and no juice needed.
That was a great summation and many of the cards especially the inserts I didn't know existed. Loved that Musial Mantle Yastrzemski autograph card!
Great video! Always appreciate the content!!!
Thanks for all the hard work on your videos. Very interesting and informative 👍🏻👊🏻👌🏻
Thank you for this breakdown, I have collected sports cards and memorabilia since the mid '70s, and this video really renewed my interest in the hobby. I suppose I am what some would call a "purest" as far as my collecting style. I grew up searching for those perfectly centered, no fuzz, sharp cornered cards of yesteryear, while sticking the no name commons in my bicycle spokes. The hunt is what drove myself and many others for many years, but once I started to see all the specialty inserts/cards being stuck into packs, I felt that the cards companies had abandoned what started the bobby int the first place. As such I had pretty much resided myself to the fact that the hobby had hit rock bottom and most likely would not recover. But what I failed to realize was that the enthusiasm was still there, it was now just focused on different things. That being said, this video started me thinking about all the cards/sets I have collected over the years and now, much like the previous collector's entry, I am watching your videos and again rummaging through my collection. In particular the huge numbers of 1992 Bowman I have. At the time I didn't give the cards much thought I just bought box after box to complete my set with countless dupe's and what I thought were commons at the time, just sitting collection dust.... but now with Mariano Rivera's popularity being off the charts, I am once again on the hunt, but this time to see just how many I have! Keep up the good work and thanks again for rekindling my passion for the hobby!
Was at first surprised not to see the '93 Bazooka Todd Helton on the list but I guess it could be considered a parallel even though it was from it's own set. Great video as always, I sure wish I had bought some of these 20 or 30 years ago!
I really appreciate the base RC/ insert split, both are important in their own right.
I wanted to let you know that I have been watching your videos for the last year and a half and have enjoyed them all! Thanks Chris!
The lack of comments is because I usually watch you on my big screen, so there’s at least two that I am aware of, keep up the good work!
Hello Richard. Thank you! Very cool to hear that!
Great content! always enjoy these videos and can’t wait for the next in the (world) series
That was a good refresher for me. Great share.
I need to go though my cards from when I was a kid got boxes of cards from 80s and 90s!
Great video! Brings back a lot of memories from the early 1990’s! 👍👍😃
Very much enjoyed this video, thanks!
Wow. Thanks Chris. The 80's and 90's videos brought back the memories. My goal sometime later in the year is to pick up some of the less expensive guys that have been graded. Obviously most of mine are not Mint, since I enjoyed sorting cards and at 12 or 13 years old was not thinking about condition. It wasn't until about age 16 when I started being more careful with my cards. Mike Piazza will be my first target.
This was informative. Thank you
Thanks for the video. Love your content.
Man, I gotta go through my collection, I know I've got some good ones now. Thanks for the update.
Really enjoyed this upload.
Nice info thanks alot! I do have the Alex Rodriguez die cut and top rookie somewhere in a box. Well got my day planned out for me.
4:42 Jeff Kent middle card looks like h's releasing a dove rather then catching a ball heh
I got the reggie auto when I was nine years old. I put it in my back pocket and went to the card shop. Guy freaked out I had it in my pocket. Thankfully no damage and I still have it.
I’m simple. You upload. I watch. Thanks my friend 🤙🏽
I remember opening those Bowmans with the Chipper rookie. Use to be able to get cards at the corner stores. Now they’re hard to find.
14:10 oh my God! I just realized I pulled one of these cards in a five dollar Fairfield pack :-) thank you for dropping this knowledge. I got a valuable card!
I love watching your videos while drinking my morning coffee
I literally just bought a shoe box with 200 cards , only 25 players . All sleeved and top loaded. And forgotten. Got all the players in your list, some like jetter, Ryan, Thomas, Bagwell, Rodriguez. Have 20 cards of them. All 90's
am glad i found your channel found some interesting insights
Bought a No Name Frank Thomas at a local shop for $12 back in the day, sold it for $100 during the broke college years.....................PAIN!
Always wanted that 1990 Topps Frank Thomas NNO, i saw one at a show in the early 2000s and cldve got it for like $300, if i remember correctly. I wasnt sure if it was fake cause it looked like i might have been altered by someone so i passed. It was a raw copy. Still a big card in the overall history of baseball cards.
I felt pain reading this. Dang man
Same…. OUCH

Would like to see a video all on Jeter cards. Maybe not just the same old top 10 or 20, but a deeper cut into more of the less known cards but still can fetch a decent price.
Not sure if I mentioned it here, that Nolan Ryan tuxedo is currently in the new stadium club 2021 as well ! Good stuff !!
Great videos! Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Loved 90-91, tolerated 92, then 93+ simply priced me out. Saw junk wax evolve into gold plated cards in this video.
I have the Jeter SP somewhere. We moved twice since I had it so hopefully it’s in a box somewhere. I think I need to look harder 😂
I still buy a box of 1992 Donruss now and then to go Ripken hunting. My best friend and I both pulled elites back in 92. Lots of good nostalgia/entertainment for $20/box.
Happy Thanksgiving Chris and thanks for the info !!!!
I just found a binder full of baseball cards from the late 80s and early 90s... Maybe I should go through em and see what I have.😁
Loved it 2for1!😁💯‼️thanks
Great update thanks
How did the 1990 Fleer Jose Uribe error card not make the list. Raw it’s like a $ 20, 000 Card. LOL.
Great content, Great video , keep up the H.O.F work.
Fun fact: I was planing on buying my first house with all my Todd VanPoppel rookie cards.
its a few dollars, the market was manipulated. look at sold listings
@Eric Jones The football player?
@Eric Jones no Paul miller who traded u those cards for weed
@Eric Jones LOL not even worth that now
@Eric Jones all of them are around 150 combined
Great video man. Wow! Didnt think cards were even a thing anymore. I remember touching more than several of these cards listed here. Values are insane. I wonder whats in my collection that I havnt looked at in over 25 years.
Had so many of these cards. Just rotted away in the garage. Life goes on i hope.
Great video ⚡ great info 👍
I pulled a Griffey jr rookie out of a box my Grampa saved for me when I was a baby. The very last pack of the box had the Griffey I was looking for.
I feel like Reggie Jackosn , is one of the most common autographs I see In box breaks . Not just this card but autographs in general. Last week I saw a break and they pulled a Tim Wallach , and I was like wow that's a auto I never see, yet I'm guessing I should be more impressed by a Reggie jackson auto .of course Reggie is a legend. But his autos I feel are everywhere
Thank you for producing these videos....very helpful and informative. I'm glad that you included base cards in this one and the ones that you include them in, I watched one recently where they weren't....and unfortunately, my wallet isn't going to allow me to have many of the "refractor/parallel/insert cards in my collection.
Those Desert Shield cards were also given to employees of Topps.
A shrewd card shop owner fleeced me outta my ‘92 bowman box I bought on a lark at Sam’s club. I traded almost all of my cards chasing shaq rookies(skybox, ud, topps). I had no idea what I had as a 10 y/o. Little did he know my shaqs eventually passed up the bowman value, only took 20 something years. Long game ha
Wow! Glad to see my Bo Jackson card going up in value 😁
Soooo enjoy all these videos every week
Thank you for all the work and research you put into this stuff.
Appreciate that
1991 Donruss Elite was really cool back then. If only I knew to take care of them better when I got some. LOL. Weird because the base 1991 Donruss may be the ultimate poster child for the ‘Junk Wax Era’
So true about 1991 Donruss!
I opened a ton of packs during the early 90’s. Going to pull out the boxes and see what I find!
I have the Michael Jorden upper deck star rookies card I watched because I got old baseball cards from my aunt and I wanted to know more about them
hey this is a cool youtube channel. I am a 10 year old and my dad gave me all of his cards when he was a kid in the early 90s. I started my own youtube channel opening up cards, your youtube has given me some good tips. thanks.
Very cool to hear that! I appreciate the comment and welcome to the youtube world!
Thank you for the comment you have a awesome channel
Wow I had that 94 upper deck Jordan as a kid
That 92 Ripken (elite) signature series card is an all time great. Gorgeous. I think the 93 elite set was really nice too, in terms of aesthetics, though the selection of players could’ve been stronger… maybe… just an opinion tho. Loving the content 👍.
Topp's Finest were always my favorite cards. I have a Rookie Kobe Bryant I need to get graded. The next card show I intend to get it graded as well as some others.
Crazy how undervalued Hoffman's rookie is. Definitely seems like a good pickup at current prices
Totally!
A very measured and calculated path guiding Cabeza de Brasil along the path
You’ll get nothing following the path; but maybe you’ll get to refinish some stuff in marble, which is suuuper cool
Chris, I believe the 1990 Topps #USA1 George Bush (Yale) card would be at the top of this list as well.
I always knew I should hold on to that MJ card.
I own that Michael Jordan baseball card I use to collect Michael Jordan Jerry rice. When I was younger I have a rather large collection of cards
I also have all the Bagwells, and Chipper Jones that you showed.(minus the desert shield)
Wow. I really gotta go through my old baseball cards
I am thinking the same thing. I noticed a couple of cards that I have. I have them either in binders or in a plastic containers.
Very cool video!
Chris, love all the work you put in. Was hoping you could answer a quick question. At the beginning of the inserts/parallels you have picture of a ken griffey jr card. Is that card worth anything? Just curious since I have one. Thank you in advance.
If you are referring to the 1990 Topps Griffey, its the Tiffany version that is worth a lot. Tiffanys are a lot rarer than the normal 1990 Topps.
Time out. I have most of prev mentioned cards. 4:58 in. I have multiple. Kent’s. 94 was when they had the lockout. In baseball. Hence the upper deck sp rarity
I have the 92 score franchise both of those cards in my collection.
I had the Derrick jeter autographed rookie card, sold it for 500, paid 24 dollars for it in 2011. Edit: I had the deck card
Wow thats a cool Griffey and Mantle auto card at the beginning of the video.
Those damn bowman cards that were a 1/16 of an inch bigger that normal cards.
That was fun!
cleaning the basement i came across a box of about 600 or so football cards. all early 90s was gonna tossem out but i decided to check them out first. i know nothing about them.
Ivan Rodriguez was a top catcher, but it's between him and Mike Piazza.
This my favorite video you have made just because the tiffany cards was not the top cards your count down I have almost watched all your video I've got all of the Michael Jordan baseball cards wish I had all his basketball cards I should have keep them when I was young instead of trading them for a bicycle which I enjoyed the bicycle growing up lol
The Score “The Franchise Players” card is phenomenal
LOL that card he showed for it is mine. I bought it last month on eBay. its a PSA/DNA 8 auto grade
Good analysis Chris a minor league card assessment of most of these players rookies could be a great topic as well.
Wow I have the 93 upper deck Jeter card. I'm afraid to pull it out of its sleeve but it looks clean.
The 1994 upper deck Ken Griffey jr and Mickey mantle auto came in three variations. There’s a Mickey signed. There’s a Griffey signed and then there is a dual signed. A lot of the single signature cards have had an after market signature added to them to appear to be dual signature so keep an eye for that
Taking me back to my childhood! Love the video Chris! Thanks
1992 football's finest had a promo set that is beautiful.
Well damn. I thought my early 90s cards were all worth very little. I’m going to have to go through them again and see if I have any of these still. I know at one point, I had many of these.
Still have that Frank Thomas in one of my 1990 sets. Have some digging to do
Got me looking at my Lil old collection now that I have a Lil girl coming might need to sell a few things but keeping some for later thanks on the insight on the regular cards got to look at the few Arods and a Jetter or two I got laying in the stash
I am pretty sure I have #6 . When I would get baseball cards growing up I would buy the becket lookup guides and put the higher value cards in hard plastic others in soft plastic sleeves. I would rarely handle them and didn't keep them laying around
Whoever gave this video a thumbs down is a sad example of a human being. Thanks as always for the hard work, Chris!
I love the Goodwill auction site & always wonder if there’s anything good in those big binders they auction off?!
Me too, bought a lot of vintage cards got 4 1973 topps mike schmidt sold one and grading the others now
1993 Upper Deck Gold Holograms are so hard to find box/ set fresh for any player. That parallel has been so underrated because a lot of people have no idea how hard they are to find "in the wild". It's finally getting the respect it deserves.
Have a beautiful gold hologram set well centered - Majority of the set is REALLY nice (800+ cards)
@@Sterlin18 Did you have any way of knowing that it was the gold set before you opened them? From what I’ve been told there’s no way to know until they’re opened.
@@tampahomeinvestorsllc7559 - Going to be honest I don't have any insider tips to know that - Bought tons of sealed boxes though about 4 years ago and only was able to get 1 out of the say 40 I purchased - Don't think there is a way to know whether you'll get the gold hologram set or not as the cards are all sealed in the boxes - Im just enjoying the fact the 1 set I did pull is really well centered in which the Jeter came back PSA 9
@@Sterlin18 Nice. Those are rare cards and they usually tend to brick up over time, maybe that doesn’t happen as much to the complete sets, but a PSA 9 is a really good grade for that set.
@@tampahomeinvestorsllc7559 - Only graded the Jeter so far which came back PSA 9 - Presume many of the 800+ in the set are at least PSA 9 although some did stick/peel to one another - (The rookies were more difficult as far as sticking/bricking/peeling because they were made differently then the base white boarders of say 700 of the cards in the 850 card set) The Jeter at 449 in the set was the last rookie card then different type of card material starts at 450 so its tricky to get that high grade for #449 - Lucky to have a really nice centered gold hologram set with 90% that are high grade if graded - I bet theres less than 200 that are complete 93 upper deck gold hologram sets in circulation which MAYBE less than 50 sets that are complete / available on the market...pretty scarce...for a 1993 parallel set from almost 30 years ago...
Ivan Rodriguez has been in the hall of fame since 2017.
Rivera's 93 Bowman photo should have been on his RC 🤣
🔥
For what it's worth, our PA announcer in Detroit would say "E-von Rodriguez"
That’93 Topps finest was in my opinion the best of the finest. Collected for many years. Not anymore. Still have about 8000 rookies. From all sports B-ball to Tennis. You only have to ask.🐎🌻✌️
Nice 411!
