The list of players that had RC's during the junk wax era is both unfortunate, and amazing. I loved all these sets back then.
The timeframe of this "Junk Wax Era" is THE EXACT PERIOD OF TIME that I collected sports cards as a kid. That's really strange. So, you're saying that the vast majority of all sports cards from this time are not valuable at all? Lol. If true, that's really unfortunate. Regardless, collecting was fun and we had some cool cards back then.
I agree 💯. Glad that cards were affordable and plentiful. Kids could get into collecting back in the day. Not so much now.😢
That '89 Score was such a great set back in the day.
At one time I had 14 Barry Sanders. Graded the best. Only came back 9’s
Love these videos. Have learned so much.
As a Packers fan, i have a lot of favres, but not sure if they are 10s or not. Need to get em in to be graded. Great video as usual keep it up
(THANKS!👍) for doing the junk wax era. We can't forget about those LEGENDS of their game
Gonna have to dig out my collection as I stopped collecting actively in 95/96 so all my cards are 95/96 and older.
Had considered selling the entire collection but now I may have to reconsider that option and have a closer look at what I have. Going to take a lot of time since I have a huge collection of all types of cards, not just sports.
Loving the videos, keep up the informative work.
.
Good luck with the hunt! Thanks for the feedback 👍👍
I love love your channel... please keep doing them.. you got me back into cards and i have a lot of cards from 87-01
Awesome! That’s great to hear 👍 I love going through both new collections and old 👁👁 spotting the rare gem mint rookies, errors, short prints and superstars from 87-01
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR dude... because of you... ive found some real gems from my old collection... please just keep these up and please do like top 30 basketball from 90-00... just a personal want... so whenever you can. Again, you're the man homie.
Great video! Keep them coming!
Good stuff as always, gotta love some Brett Fahvray at the top of the list!!!
I've been looking to pick up some Favrey here lately after seeing how his cards are going up 👍 I think he's becoming the more collectible quarterback from the early 90's
super valuable information for peeps like us getting back in the game. Thanks!!
Glad it was helpful!
Bro the instrumental you use for these videos are awesome dude
Thanks, man! I'm glad you like it. I use it in every video 😂
Man I really enjoy your channel. In a small way your intero music sounds a little like pac-man fever. Keep up the great job you do. Very entertaining, educational. I forgot about some of these cards. Thank you
lol, I never thought about it sounding like the Pac-Man fever, it does in a way! Thanks for the feedback! Glad I could stir up some nostalgia fever for ya 👍
I miss those wild card sets
First that bo Jackson 1990 score is BASEBALL second now it is like in a psa 10 it is a 250 dollar card
That Proline Bill Belchick is awesome. I think i had 20 of them as a kid
lol, yeah back then I never would have thought to keep them in as best condition as possible!
Great video as usual!
Agree hes awesome!
Thank you, sir!
Junk Wax Hockey next please!! Loving the videos. Appreciate the knowledge
Thanks for the feedback! I'm not as knowledgeable in hockey as I am the other sports but I can start looking into making the list!
you do a GREAT job!
Thanks!! 🙏🏼
Think I’ll bring my cards out of there 30 years of storage thank you for the information
I have some of those same cards in PSA 8 & raw too!!!
Nice!
Thank you for this.. Memory's are awesome. I bet I had or Have some of these. I never did keep commons... Some of the cards were not worth anything back in the day... Like that Montana was like a 1.00 card if that... Same for the coach card belicheck.
Thanks for the feedback! These cards only fetch these prices when they're graded gem mint 10 by PSA. They're very tough to find in said condition, which is why they sell for so much,. 👍
Matt i like when you do this era........an rea when we mostly collected and could afford
Love finding treasure in the Junk pile!
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR I agree......i bought a 5$ Fairfield box of football from Walgreen just to try my luck. 95% of it was commons and junk wax, BUT i pulled a Marlon Mack rc and a Kyler Murrey rc in this 5$ box..........SCORE!!!!
I have that same Bill Belichick & Joe Montana cards I am sending it out to get grade they both look flawless. Thanks for making this video I appreciate it I have 7 boxes of cards from 1990-1992 I am going to through but don't know what is really worth grading.
Nice! Thanks for the feedback! Sorting through cards can be daunting but if you know what to look for it can be a thrill! Good luck!
I love the videos and I appreciate the hard work , I'm pretty sure that bo Jackson card is a baseball card
That just blew my mind. I can’t believe all these years I thought this was a football card! It’s Bo Jackson so I’m not too embarrassed about putting this in the video lol 😂 thanks for the feedback and the noticeable error!
Great thanks
I liked this set when it came out and bought a lot of them. Just noticed the #14 Belichick is going for $167. I have 3 in awesome shape! I didn't think anything in that set was worth squat right now bcuz of the overproduction. Thanx Matt!
ProLine was pretty sick. It was different. Didn't it have cheerleaders, players' wives, and the Payne Stewart card that was popular for a while? Junk wax also had a lot of cool errors that were fun to collect. I wonder if there are any Santa Claus, and Lombardi Trophy Holograms still in the 1990 Pro Set packs. This was the golden age of my collecting years.
I just found a ‘91 Favre Score Atl Falcons rookie and a First Edition Favre Wildcard (but both raw) in my old collection. Might get them graded?
Larry Allen made the list ? Surprising with all the great QBs, RB, & WAS from this era
Don't sleep on PSA and BGS 9's and BGS 9.5 and 10's. I guess they're more affordable... for now. I love RC 9's. Great junk wax vids by the way.
Matt, I wish you did sports like the NHL for grading cards. I would love to see a video on NHL trading cards :)
I'll start looking into some NHL videos. Do you have any specific topic in mind?
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR nothing in specific. Maybe a junk wax era such as this or maybe something more modern etc?
@@Niko-Suave Ah, yes. I can look into the junk wax hockey cards 👌
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR cool thanks! Btw, i know your YT name is PSA Collector but have you messed around with BGS before and how was your experience if so?
top young guns
That 90 score Bo is Baseball. The Football version is vertical or maybe that was a promo been a long time lol. Either way this one is baseball as the football set goes to 660's. I was a Bo Jackson collecting God back in the 90's Love the channel bro. Gets the blood pumping to get back in.
Do you happen to know if it's in the 1990 Score Baseball long yellow box?
@@kennygwalker Yes it's in there.
Me too!It looks better then 5 years ago!
I got 2 Favre Stadium Club Rc
pack fresh
straight into poly and screw down cases :-) plus slot more
😲 screw down cases are the devil! Hopefully it wasn't over tightened or the case with the indents. PSA won't grade due to alteration 😱
yeah I hope I didnt tighten em down too much, good looking out thanks for getting back, I watch alot, i have what I'd like to think is a Decent Collection, I need to PSA alot of my stuff. LIKE ALOT
wishing knew how to add a pic here in these comments ?
Hell we in a junk wax era NOW
It turns out I only had 2 of these cards. 90 score Bo Jackson, and 91 Pro Set Bill Bilichick. I thought I would have more. Oh well. There's lots to pick from.
What a handsome photo of young Belichick 👍😂
I used collect in this era too crazy
Any tips for going through the grading process?
Great video
I enjoy your videos. PSA is too expensive and too long of a turn around for some lower income collectors. Not sure of the other grading companies.
That tom brady gold tho, going for 1290 at psa10.
got it.
I have at least half of these cards on this list including doubles of those Bill Beli pro sets and others. I should get them graded. Would Becket grading be good to send cards to as well or should I send them to PSA to have them garded?
It's a personal choice between PSA and BGS. Whichever brand and case you like better is the company you should choose. I obviously choose PSA 😂 check out my video on how to submit to them here: czcams.com/video/GC8D2sAV5Uw/video.html
If I had the money I'd invest and buy up all these and as many as I could.... yes sure they were over printed and mass produced but you have to consider 1) how many actually survived and was kept so well that it got a 10 gem mint grade.... and 2) look at how many of these are Hall of Famers, thats the first rule of collecting is collect the HOF guys 3) yes they were over printed but you have to consider how popular and how a whole generation of kids grew up being familiar with these and would like to go back to revisit them... so yeah if you have the dough snatch these up ASAP.
And hoard the shit of them and watch people bid to the death on them then when bid some insane price shut it down and give it to some person who really likes that player from there childhood and give it to them for free
I was wondering where wild card was and then finally.....
Hey, guys if you want to jump to the list jump to 1:23. Let me know what cards you think should be on the list! Or what video I should make next. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the videos! Great Job!! Would like to see your top investment list. Vintage and modern. What are you buying, holding, and flipping....
PSA COLLECTOR it's a shame the 1992 bowman foil emmit smith isn't more valuable they were a tough pull back then and herd to find a gem mint one. Btw the 92 stadium isn't Farves rookie it's 91 stadium technically. Real surprised no Topps USFL CARDS made the cut .
NFL pro set value
Do you know if any Brett favre gold cards have sold for
I have that Bo Jackson autographed I bought as a kid but I lost the cert of authenticity...what should I do in that case?
On the 1991 Stadium Club Brett Favre RC his name is misspelled on the front. Is that considered an error card?
I have some 1990 topps disclaimer backs. Worth a grade?
I have rookie, mvp, Bo Jackson, Nolan Ryan, Pete Rose, Mickie Mantle & many more top name. Altogether I have about 2000 sports cards
Lies on top of lies go take a lap
Hey Matt, got a question maybe you can help me with.I no it has nothing to do with this video, but maybe you can help.I have a Barry Bonds 1986 traded 11t I think is a freaking Tiffany.I got the set about five months ago with a box of Topps 1987 unopened wax packs. The traded box has made I believe in Ireland, overseas anyway. It has the bright back, and the two stars at the bottom of back.I almost just sold it for 7 dollars but I backed out.Should I try and send this card in for grading?
If it looks like it's in gem mint condition, then yeah absolutely. A regular issue Topps traded Bonds rookie in PSA 10 condition sells for around $100. But, a mint 9 only fetches around $15. If it's a Tiffany then you struck gold.
THKS
Thanks for these videos...I'd like to know what most collectors do with their commons...IS there a creative way of moving them?
By moving do you mean selling? I know a lot of guys donate them to Goodwill, Children Hospitals, Schools, etc . As far as selling them I don't know of any good option. There doesn't seem to be a market for commons. I feel like the shipping on 1,000 cards or so would cost more than the cards themselves. 😂
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR Thanks for the reply...
I give mine away to kids or goodwill....I still have millions and cant bring myself to trash them yet lol
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR Can you do a video on the topps and topps tiffany.. You may already have. I'd like to see the differences with these and if they were thrown into the pack randomly. Thanks
@@CIPStudios Check out my video on the 1990 Topps Tiffany Set I opened up here: czcams.com/video/U45tkJ01am8/video.html I talk about the set a little. They were only sold as factory sealed sets. They were not in packs at all.
Love that
I have 2 of those action packed cards stuck to my fridge for 20 years.
I have several cards of value but they are protected in plastic screw protectors..unrated..signed butkus..bill bergey..what should I do
how much is a ray finkle in psa 10
Eric Dickerson 1990 Pro Set card # 338 short print.
1991 Bret Favre #94 rookie Super bowl? Thought it was an error spelling card. 🤔
How do I organize all my old cards?
16:07 wow that's a rare favre rookie card
The Favre Holy Grail rookie card! 1000 Stripe
Yes sir and back in early 90s that brand "Wild Card" was one of the worst brands out that I remember, never thought they'd be worth a thing. Now I'm excited to go back and look through all my wildcards
People are high to use these figures. I'll go by my beckett catalogs. I would never let any of these cards go for the chump change.
Dam I need to go get my cards graded.
Me to. I have Tom Brady, Charles Woodson and Barry Sanders cards just to name a few.
@@johnstacyii4827 Its crazy to graded them now to thanks to the prices increase.
Can u please do Tom mcfarlane baseball figures series
Thanks for your out cool
I have a few of these cards, I know it. BUT... are they gem mint? Now that's the $64, 000 question. As soon as the video started I ran to my closet to see what football cards I have. There's too many card boxes to look through. I' ll have to look later.
Matt, I just inherited a collection of 10's of thousands of baseball/football/hockey cards ect from my father-in-law. The collection spans from the mid 70's to 1996 and is only half sorted. I don't even know where to begin. What do you recommend?
I just drove in after watching your Dereck Jeter video and already I've found one 93 Pinnacle #457, one 1993 Topps #98, and twelve 1993 Bowman #511. They've been in storage for 20+ years and look really good. There's really no telling what else is in this collection.
Can you take a video of them all and upload to youtube or facebook and post a link? That would be the best option I think.
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR Will do. I will see if I can capture what he had already sorted and pop open some boxes of the unsorted cards so that you can see what I'm working with.
Thank you, by the way. For responding.
This fella sent me home with hundreds and thousands of dupes oboy
Can you do football from the 60s and 70s?
Yep, I have those on the list. Stay tuned for their debut!
Thank you! Love your channel. When us get a chance , maybe some vintage hockey
I have that berry sanders
Just to show you how badly the bottom can fall out on a card, that Brett Favre wildcard rookie in PSA 10 can be found on eBay now for under 50 bucks. Crazy!
He referenced the 100 stripe version
Holy macerlandy
I have the farve error card if anyone interested...been encased since 3rd grade. The year it came out!
Lies
Interesting that a 1992 Favre card would be more valuable than any of the other 1991 RCs produced. Shorter print?
Are you going to do 1995-2000?
I haven't thought about that, it'll only be 5 years. Maybe I'll do a football card from the 90's list 1990-1999. Which, only the Brett Favre from this list will probably be on it lol.
PSA COLLECTOR yea I see what you mean. I just bought about 25 boxes separated by team of 1990s football for $25. The guy had them a long time and wanted to get rid of them because no money to be made. But I’ve been finding some small $ cards in them and I now have plenty of hall of fame candidates for 2020 that he didn’t think about. There’s an article on footballs falling popularity as far as school participation in NYT today. Wonder how that will effect cards.
I have some of those cards
time to come out of hiding! we miss you
I'll be back soon! Thanks for the ❤️
dam,ive got a couple of these. is it worth gettn graded even if not gona be a psa 10?
If you submit them in a bulk submission and pay $10 a piece maybe. However, I would triple check and make sure they are in at least mint 9 condition. If there is any doubt about whether or not they are then I wouldn't submit. It will be cheaper just to buy the card already graded if thats the case. 👍
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR its actually pretty good shape.the montana all pro tiffany card. thanks for info👍
You can also look in your local area and bring them to an informed dealer. They will know if it's worth the trouble.
What about Beckett graded cards.
Wow I had the #1 and gave it to a friend for his birthday maybe not a 10 but a high 9 I’m sure 😭😭😭😭😭
Wow, what an awesome birthday gift!
How is it that a 35 year old rookie card of a Hall of Fame player who holds multiple NFL All-time records is worth less than a base rookie card that is still being printed and probably has been print more times? And that is only after you gamble and spend an additional $40 to have it graded for a 10% chance that it is a perfect 10?
I have 2 almost perfect condition bill Belichick pro set cards in sleeves and toploaders! I never knew they were that much! Anyone interested if I post them on eBay?
They have to be graded PSA 10 in order to achieve those prices but you might be able to get $10 - $20 for the pair if you take good pics 👍
to funny. figures the cards I have most of are from like 92 to 94 ahaha. Def not 10s either. Just going through old child hood cards and seeing if I should grade anything.
personal opinion here but I think cgc and better have a better grading system
What's funny is I went into two card shops and I was told these cards are increasing in value....
I'm 46. People will always go back to stuff like this for the nostalgia, just like they do with old toys, cars, and other things from their younger days. Plus, these cards are affordable, while being in gem mint condition. You can pick up boxes of this stuff at flea markets for $10, or less, and you can have a pack rip party with like 32 packs per box. Another thing driving the comeback is the ton of players that had rookie cards in the junk wax era. $8,000 boxes, and $12,500 rookie cards are out of most peoples' reach. An autograph is an autograph. Rip some old Fleer boxes for like $10 for Autographics rookies, lol. Have some fun with it.
ive got about 10 of these cards....but where is the jerry rice topps rookie?
1987 thru 1993 were the years I covered and consider Junk Wax. If I included 1986 then this list would have about 15 cards from that set lol
One mess up, the 94 stadium club sold for 97 not 94! Lol
lol, good catch! luckily it was only a few bucks and not thousands 😅
What's with all the adverts?
Is number 2 considered an error card? I mean, you can clearly see his name spelt wrong on both the PSA slab and the card but it's not labeled as an error.
You spelled spelled wrong ha ha. Spelt is a type of wheat something or other
Speel
2 years later it costs $150 just to have cards graded by PSA, that should effect these values
What about Tom Brady SP Upper Deck 2000
This is cards from the junk wax era
Brett Favre and Brett Farve spelled both ways on the top 5 cards here. What is the correct spelling?
This is so ridiculous so I remember most of these card back in the early 90s most card shops were already selling them raw ungraded around a $100, so now you have to put in the effort and money to sent it in and graded and probably only graded an 8 and even if you do get it worth back up to the $100 um the value of that same $100 due to inflation is a lot less, so basically all that said and done all these cards have all gone way down in value
Looking for 89 Score football
Couple of things. Why are baseball wax cards more expensive as in value wise compared to football cards??
2nd . I tried to join your Facebook page to be entered in the give away, I'm not having any luck to leave a comment?? Any ideas
Try this link: facebook.com/psacollector/
Baseball cards have a much bigger collector base than football. I think because it's been around longer and guys just like baseball cards more than football.
@@GRADEDCARDINVESTOR Thank you very much
No Emmett Smith cards?
Bryan Lasley
The emmitt smith score traded rookie is my fav , what a beauty has always been coveted
The Bellichick has sold for $1250 recently... WTF?
1990 fleet update card# u40 emmitt Smith
