If only the L-Series made it into the 90’s. Even a Cross-flow L28 would be amazing. That motor sounds absolutely gorgeous, hopefully you give those turbo’d Miata’s a good scare
I had a 72 when I was 19 years old and even though it was a piece of rolling rust I still loved that car. This one here is stunningly beautiful, what a beast. Great job buddy, wow :)
If this car were manufactured today "as is" it would be on back order for two years! A friend of mine in Florida bought a 70"s 240 circa 1985 and drove it like a race car everyday... Never let him down!
OS cross flow!! Great engine. Was talking to an OS employee in Japan the other day...said its apx $50,000 for the conversion; just the head and engine block though. Not cheap...but that sound and that high revving L power...very nice.
@@BakerDeltaFour An Australian guy had the right idea, e36 m3 engine, straight six, naturally aspirated, individual throttle bodies, and it won't cost $50K either.
I miss my 71 240z. It had a 78 motor bored out to 3.1 liters with a turbocharger putting out 20lbs of boost. The car had 525 hp & ran mid 11's with 3:31 gears in the back.
Love side drafts! I had a 240Z with a rack of them, long tubes, away bars that used to rip and ripple chunks of metal out of the attachment points...so much fun to drive!
All motor engines are always my favourite, especially when it has individuals on it. I especially adore the Inline 6s, because they sound sooo orgasmic with individuals
That is one sexy 240z. I used to own a white one back in college (1983). Actually, it started out as a piss yellow/green car that was painted white. It annoyed me because I could see evidence of the old color here and there, but I sure loved that car! It was pretty damn rusty on the floor pans and other places but looked good at a distance. I put a couple Weber carbs on it, got rid of the pollution crap, lowered it and changed the wheel tire combo. Made for a fun autocross car. It was never perfect. I wished I could have owned one brand new. The next big Japanese car to come out was the Rx-7. My Father bought one brand new in '79 and then I bought a brand new FD in '95. Still own it today. Great car! I'd still love to have a clean Z again! The car in this video is absolutely beautiful!
Why there is no comments. Everybody speechless about the astonishing work ? Has to be that. I got shivers of those sounds of beauty headers. This is truly great built. Thanks for uploading.
Awesome video!! I love how it tells a story with video, rather than just 4 minutes of the same thing over and over. The music during the build scenes was a nice touch too.
Had a '72 as my first car outfitted mostly like this narrow body. White, overider deletes, air dam, clear covers, euro tails, Recaros. Hooker headers, Ceterlines in 15's. Sadly I could not afford a built motor with triples. The SUs would have to suffice. This was the 80's so it had stripes...ugg. I'd love to do another one...this time with my Son. The only bummer is that 281 #. Thank you for not putting on those craptacular flares. Amazing car.
Beautiful just a work of art amazing . The 3.3 l with the after market head seems ti fit better than an RB30. I have seen swapped into the chassis. That kind of power & torque means this thing is brutal on acceleration. Excellent job congrats..
I am a broke college student as well and I am rocking a 280z, dropping a turbo in later next month and then a stroker kit in early February. Don't let your dreams be dreams.
Also a broke college student. It took me two years but I found a super clean 240Z I could afford. It took swapping the head and head gasket but that was pretty simple.
$3,200 for a 100% complete car. Not a single rust spot, rust hole or even surface rust. Someone put a paint job on it that's about a 7 out of 10 so it looks fine but will definitely be painted at some point.
I live in the bay area and bring my 370Z to the Z car garage in San Jose. Rob Fuller and the guys do great work there and are wizards when it comes to Z cars. I'm bringing mine in next week to get stainless steel Teflon brake lines installed. I had some Hotchkis sways installed there and they really improved the handling of an already great handling car.
I put a smiched up 280Z motor into a 240Z, 5speed and yes, the speedo needle went off the dial. Port Augusta to Spud’s Roadhouse in 58 minutes, in 1991. That’s in South Australia.
awsome car! love the sound of that inline 6 twin cam, and triple webers! close to 400 bhp without turbo! That is SICK!!! ((but i dont think that a turbo, belongs in a Fairlady anyway)) Carbs, is the right way to go,in a cool classic like this! (just my personal opinion!) Congrats,to the owner of this great looking/sounding piece of greatnes!! (RESPECT!!) ¨sorry 4 my poor english¨ ;P
Awesome to see a running version of this unique head design. There is a project to recreate this dual overhead cam style head for the L-series on Hybridz.org The design being built is based on the modern head design from the Honda K series I believe
This is the way 240z's should be resto'd. forget the rb26 and 600 hp as this isn't the original ethos of the car. The sound this thing puts out and the respectable hp is all you need. This is one of the nicest 240z's on the net.
Your 240Z is fricken awesome man, love it. makes me miss my Datsun days as i had a total of 16 Different Datsuns and 15years later I still have datsun fever. noticed all the others you damn horder just kidding Lol.
So awesome 😍 But those power figures are at the crank, not wheel horsepower. Considering about a 15% drive train loss it makes about 320ish to the wheels which is still great for that naturally aspirated 3.3 and weight of the car.
If only the L-Series made it into the 90’s. Even a Cross-flow L28 would be amazing. That motor sounds absolutely gorgeous, hopefully you give those turbo’d Miata’s a good scare
I mean, technically it made it into the 90s.
The RB series is the successor.
The Creepy Devil Z song got me LOL 😂
WANGAN OST ....... I CAN HEAR THAT FUCKIN PIANO xD

I wonder if its 4valves
@@tomvershay4281 it is 4 valves per cylinder because its DOHC (Double Over Head Camshaft)

This thing is literally my dream car and man one hell of a build on the engine, tho it was giving me some Devil z vibes 😂
My dream car aswell
I'm not sure where I seen the empty body shell like the 240z one , and yeah at that time it looks like a 280z body
Sounds happy at 8000rpm. Looks like a handful to drive. Im sure it turns heads especially when the skyline is rolling beside it....👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

BROOO when you hit us with that: “akuma no Zeto” theme for the engine install... oooooo my God I got chills.
