I would think that they made the end a little more rounded because they anticipate people holding it further back on the handle for more leverage while using it for chopping.

I've been using my Rat-7 for 8 years now and still going strong. I beat the heck out of this every time im in the field. I have an aftermarket kydex sheath and I've done some other mods like strip the coding off the steal, forced a patina with vinegar.

I got this with a custom sheath. The original sheath is decent but not what you want. I haven’t used it yet as I gotten many other knives but this thing is nice and basically an esee6.
