But the fact that he realized that family is what's most important in this life shows that he's willing to let his 'old' aggressive self behind and start with a blank page in life. He's a great looking man and I applaud him wanting to have a better relationship with his sister. He just needs to be willing to accept and respect the fact that she married this guy, and continue to be there, love her and support her. He should also be willing to accept and love his brother in law, despite his flaws. Just maybe he's the role model and encouragement the brother in law needs to be a better man.
He would be wise to be more open minded about it and not emotional, because the day his sister reaches out to him for encouragement, or just seeking him from a males point of view, he can't respond as a brother, but, as a man and a friend.
I don't know where he is faith wise, or what his relationship is with Jesus Christ. But, the best way to handle this, is to talk to the Lord about and ask him to work it out for the good of each of them. That includes learning how to accept it and love them in spite of.
Sometimes we have to be willing to love what we don't agree with and don't necessarily understand. Love your neighbor as yourself, this includes in laws.

He is now looking to reestablish the relationship with his sister because he has a different perspective to what he had previously. He needed the advice because he knows that he had muddied the waters pretty badly, but he's humble enough to realize he was at fault. Next time, you should probably try to understand what was said before writing your book.

@@kimpim4174 forgive and try to make see if you guys can work things out. Sadly what we want for them is not always what the person wants. There are even times that when they realize they made a mistake they would stay because of the fear of embarrassment.

It’s hard when your sister sibling is in a relationship with a no good partner. The only thing you can do is be the bigger person and work out reconciling. His dad is living, so they can all meet together for lunch or dinner just the three as a start to break down the walls. Then take it from there, invite her to family gatherings, call once a month on the phone. It’s better not to get involved if she brings up her husband, make no comments unless it is about something positive.

It really depends what he did though. It sounds forgivable but just because you're blood related doesn't mean that your worth her mental energy. Sometimes you have to cut family out because they're too much of a burden and when you have your own family now to be taking care of you can't risk your mental health. I personally cut one of my brothers out permanently and would not allow them to come back into my life under any circumstances. He did some terrible things to me and the rest of the family and he's more than used up his chances. I have too many friends who are great people that I could be spending my time with.
