As a mechanical engineering student (not intelligent enough for aerodynamics), I can confirm more power = more speed
Hi u have inspired me to do my own CZcams channel. Dom's bit of everything đ
And a bit of weight reduction for better acceleration.
profile pic checks out. kev needs some SRB's on it!
@@zeph5225 less weight = faster acceleration but also more unstable on high speed
More boosters = more fast.
Take it to Elvington Airfield in York, the longest, smoothest runway in the country. First week in August it hosts the Large Model Association weekend show. Why not go for the record there in front of 1500 people?
Good call, I was thinking the same. đ
Thumbs up this so Kevin can see
Based
Imagine if this thing had larger tires with gearing and engines to match the EXACT specs it has now.
As a kid I used to build RC cars 40 years ago. Wondered what they looked like today. mind blowing how far they've come. Great video by the way.
Have you seen the new cordless ones?
Man, Kev is the biggest and best dreamer to watch.
He said, "I want to break the world record, but I have no clue on what I'm doing!" đ€Šđœââïžđ
But then turn around and build something quite nice! You have to love a guy like this. His energy be the shit!đđȘđŸđ„đ„đ„
We definitely need a lot more videos about this car im sure just about everybody is very interested in this seriously
Yep
yep
Yes yes I still think your going to brake 205
Yea
Yes I agree
Wow that thing has got some legs. Just don't fit a flux capacitor it'll land back in the stone age at those speeds.
đđđ
Back to the future reference
Itâs getting there Kevin. Keep pushing it hard. It will go 203mph easily. Keep trying hard Kevin youâre doing great.
Hi Kevin, here are some ideas on increasing speed
once you get to about 150 mph, aerodynamics becomes extraordinarily important, just as important as power.
-ideally, change your whole body design to being more long and skinny, if you look at land speed record cars you will see what i mean.
-But since that will mean a complete redesign, here are some ideas to improve your current car:
-ADD A TAIL!! This sounds really weird, but extending the rear of the car out to a gentle point increases aerodynamics extraordinarily, because it eliminates the low-pressure area behind the car that pulls it back. Lookup "aerodynamic tail" to see what I'm talking about.
-Enclose the rear wheels. Tires cause a lot of air turbulence, and hence drag, especially since you are using foam tires. If you can figure out a way to cover the front wheels too, that would be great, but it might be harder since the front wheels have to steer.
-Change the batmobile-style rear fins to just regular fins. Again, turbulence.
-Try and replace as many parts as you can with carbon fiber. You are right in that weight really only affects acceleration, and not top speed, but you are going to need decent acceleration if you want to get over 203 in any reasonable amount of space.
Also, figure out a way to gear the thing down. I remember you said in a previous episode it was geared to 600 something mph. you are going to need more torque to get through the air at 200 mph, at that speed air is very "thick". Gear it to like 250 mph.
-Finally, if you start to have issues with the motors overheating, consider adding small air scoops to direct air at them. And by small I mean SMALL! like 3/16th of an inch tall, and maybe 1 1/2 inch wide. No bigger, because they will cause too much drag. At 200mph, plenty of air will pass through them. Also, make sure the air has a way out, otherwise air will build up inside the body.
Kevin, this is ABSOLUTLEY EPIC! keep going, we all believe you can do it! youre an inspiration to me and many other đ
Thanks bro!
@@KevinTalbotTV you're welcome mate đ

@@KevinTalbotTV hey kev! Awesome project!!! Canât wait to see what this thing can really do! Question about the grub screws would those work on a XMAXX pinion gear? I need a flat one like that myself

Do a âitâs Christmas every dayâ doorbell
Danke fĂŒr die tolle Slomo von 6.00-6.06 Minuten.
Wow absolutely insane, I canât wait to see it make a full pass, I also saw thatâs it recommended to only do one run and let it cool down before going again so you wonât burn up your motors, awesome work though đđđ
Yes finally letâs see 200mph!!!! Well that was proper quick and it had so much more in it. Straight as an arrow!!!! We need more space!!!!! Epic build Kevin!!! đđđđ
That was epic can't wait for round two with more runway, that rc is insane.
Scale dragster like parachute for controlled emergency breaking, saves tyres and puts less strain on the motors. Just an idea đ
Thatâs actually a good idea
I suggested that on one of his earlier videos for this car. I totally think the parachute would save this car from braking too far and hitting something. Totally agree with you.
Too much added weight, costs outweight the benefits.
You mean emergency braking. Emergency breaking would be a self destruct.
@@chiefofkings I respectfully disagree. The parachute, servo and box to hold it would weigh less than a tire. I don't think that would be what holds them back from breaking the record.
135mph ain't bad at all for a first run especially in such a short space.
Well done Big K....
This is what weâve been waiting for
Yup
Kevin has been giving a ton of time and attention to details on this one..
People don't really see what's happening when the cameras are off..
Behind the "fun and games" there are hours and hours of hard work.
I can spot a strong determined runner when I see one, my prediction is that we are all going to lose our shit when Kev starts to get on it..
Watch.
haha thanks raz!!
I'm waiting for the friendly competition against eachouther
Raz get more videos out please. It's because of you I've got back into RC`s.
I'm currently trying to get a world record with a 1/18 not far away now then I'll upload my 1st CZcams vid.
Well said
I've been waiting for a new video from you Raz what's happening?
Can't wait to see next development on this!
Best thing about the vid was seeing all the other enthusiasts getting together and letting their projects rip!
That's going to fly! The positivity you have for this project makes me think its definitely going to work as you believe it will !!
I'm actually impressed it hit that sort of speed in that distance, I think you'll be good up to 170-180, then you might experience issues with stability and tyres blowing etc... Looking forward to the next one.
CONGRATS on the speed run! That was crazy fast and crazy stable. Looking forward to seeing it beat the speed record.
Your the best Kev. I got into the hobby last year. Your channel has been awesome to follow. But this particular challenge of breaking the record has me hooked. Sending good vibes your way. You got this. Cant wait to see all this hard work pay off.
The way you can engineer things to fit into your rc car is very impressive! Like the wheel arches!
This is an amazing build! I love seeing custom built speed runs and not just out of the box rtr. You might need to ride in a helicopter to chase the car so you dont lose sight or go out of range
It almost sounds like itâs only scraping when brakes are applied, throttle on sounds smooth and beautiful. Good luck Kev, we all know youâll blow that record outta the water!!!
Wow thatâs still an awesome few runs. Iâm very impressed with how stable the car was, very straight on those passes. Well done đ
Hi Kev, maybe drill a hole at the back of the wheel arches and fit a straw from that hole and through the body to vent the wheel arches from building up pressure, awesome video BTW and hope you get to break that record, thumbs-up đ from South Africa đżđŠ
Finally itâs been years waiting for this video
What is amazing is being able to achieve such speeds with relatively stock off the shelf parts...years ago a lot of custom engineering needed to be done to achieve these kind of speeds, custom chassis, custom wind motors and electronics. The hardest challenge is usually finding tyres that are up for it and not letting air get trapped under the car. You should try a 1/5 scake record with a pair of Lehner 30100's, they put out around 50HP each at peak power. Be the first to make the first 100HP rc car đ
This is a reminder to like the video! It helps Kevin alot!đ
I am impressed ! you crammed 8 ads in less than 10 min !!
Wow! You can be very optimistic to beat the world record! You build a real Monster! đź Can't wait to see a full run of that thing đđđ
This is absolutely LEGENDARY I'm still cracking up at that sour guy with the previous record who sent you that email, can't wait for you to smash past 203!!!
that was funny! haha
Buildâs like these are what separates the boys from the men lolđđđœ
I have been watching you for a few years now! Good luck on your goal, please please don't crash it.....
Dude this is amazing 135 mph in just 280m runway respect Kev. Can't wait to see it runs on a longer runway
Kevin. You might need to buy a lot more salt for those that said "No kev! That's wrong, that'll never work, it's too heavy, that she'll isn't aerodynamic enough!"
Personally I think it's got a very good chance of getting the record. If I didn't I wouldn't have given you any advice over the last couple of years.
I still think a parachute would be a good idea, just like top fuel dragsters use. 320+mph down to 100mph? Then they use the breaks. It'll take a small 9g servo, a spring a case and some origami to make it work but it'll save your tires.
Now go and get the record..... đđ
Iâve been toying with a 100mph build because of this series! Thank you sir! Youâre a gentleman and a scholar lol.
135 MPH!!! Truly epic! With a scale body! That surpasses what most people have accomplished. I believe you can do it!!! Love all of your videos!
That's epic Kevin look forward to seeing more of this car and what it can do with more room
Hey Kev! To help with some cooling maybe dremel out some slots in your fender arches. This will allow some additional airflow in to the ESC to help keep it cool for more runs without causing too much drag.
Craziest build to date. Fingers crossed, the most successful build. Love that sound. Nearly like itâs creating its own sound wave.
This shows the future of electric cars
So awesome! It's been a long process and we can't wait to see the final results. Thank you for bringing us along with you on this fantastic journey.
This is gonna be awesome Kev, i can't wait until you get more runway.
I'm an aeronautical engineering student I would advise to add weight for traction and work on Ur steering mechanism with of course adding way more power and acceleration to ur engines (u may use more efficient batteries for it)
Very well done, I'm impressed. Just need that longer straight now. Please don't leave it to long b4 we see this rc again.
can't wait for the next speed run that was brilliant!
Iâm hoping you put the steering linkage on the least sensitive setting at the servo(s).
This will help even more with stability but the downside is that you have a huge turning radius. But you obviously want that in a speed breaker car.
EPA or steering rate can always do the adjusting. Plus could turn up the EPA or rate when driving back and turning at slow speed.
@@esqkronic thatâs good too but Iâve had glitches in software limiting. But that was quite a long time ago. Maybe today itâs a bit more reliable and I do like the idea of being able to disable it when needed.
the enthusiasm in this vid is great
This should've been called; "How I was screwed out of making a world record attempt because I was lied to about how much room I would have."
You are a hell of a lot nicer than I am. I'd have been fuming if they gave half the space to camera crews.
You can customize the steering so that it steers slower and control it at high speeds
Imagine walking and then this 200 mph rc car hits you in the foot
I Feel The Pain
Thatâs Hurt For Years XD
Thatl*
Say goodbye to your foot. Lol
footless behavior
My man looks good clean shaven why is he growing out that goatee. Literally adds a decade to him
I am completely impressed. Seriously fast for a first run. Surprisingly stable.
Waiting.
Congratulations on your world record for a small part 135mph then for the remaining flat out 203mph. That's guaranteed đŻ %
Yesss was waiting ages for this
INCREDIBLE!! Absolutely incredible...
Im so glad i found your channel every video i watch i have a perma smile on my face!
Finally it is done after 5 months đ
Has anyone mentioned balancing the wheels/tires. Very large hidden speed loss.
Maybe watch the entire video
Yeah, at 7:52.
Really looking forward to see a full run out of this. Really hope Kevin can get the record.
203 mph Rc not shaped like a bullet to cut wind is epic letâs go Kevin!!!
Enzo Ferrari once said âAerodynamics are for people who can't build engines.â
Enzo also hated everyone on earth
Yeah and look where that got them. Ferrari got their ass handed to them for over a decade because they couldn't do aero
Try with Lambo behind and in front of the RC car .... So you could accelerate for a long time
1:04 He is literally the Jeremy Clarkson of R/C. Sometimes it is entertaining to watch, but ultimately the engineers are the ones to push boundaries.
Youâll definitely break the record! This RC car is insane!
Awesome video!
Thanks! (From India)
Maybe put in a gyro? So it can keep it more strait.
Love your videos
-Ethan
guys
The wait is over!!! đđȘđœđȘđœđȘđœđđŸ
That is absolutely amazing and I'm so glad to see it run!! Congrats!!
This RC car isâŠ.. âThe Best in the Worldâ
Couldn't you rent a supercar that does like 210, and then just connect that to an rc rig like in Mythbusters? It's still technically rc, sooooooooo....
Why would he rent one when he owns a Huracan? đ
@@bikeislife8405 but what if it can't break 202?
@@lordjuvenile9068 lol yes Lamborghini claims it tops out at 202, I'm sure 203 could be seen.
Thanks Kevin for all your videos , this video hits different
When I was young I would see kids with these but had a single mom and could never get one but Mann it was cool watching g the kids playing with awesome đ
Thatâs a fantastic result considering how little space you had! It was doing 135 with ease! Nice one Kev!! đđđ
impressed at getting to 135mph and stable. speed runs are much much harder than it looks on video. didn't think you would get to this stage for another 4 or 5 trial and errors...
Fantastic to finally see it run đđ
Got some serious speed for such a short strip and still power waiting in reserve for when you can get the full runway usage. Hopefully soon lol.
1st run and no carnage đ€Ł excellent result đ
Good luck smashing that record Kev đ u got this.
YOU ARE GONNA DO IT KEV. WORLD RECORD WILL BE YOURS.
Canât wait to see you use more of that runway
Awesome work Kevin. Keep up the great work,.. I'm still working on a couple base trucks and looking to buy the Felony this week
That car was movin! Good work kev!
Use bump stops on the suspension. It will help prevent grounding and keep the rear higher than the front.
Iâve mentioned before to set your spoilers on the lower suspension mounts - this will prevent the downforce compressing the suspension and putting all the spoiler effects into the wheels, generating much higher grip levels.
I would be inclined to put a very thin (and disposable) skin across the bottom of the chassis, to prevent the scratches and screw heads disturbing airflow underneath and reduce the additional drag that may be caused. Similarly seal as many air gaps to reduce air flow going into the body of the vehicle. Look to control the airflow for air that you need to enter the body for cooling.
Congratulations on 135 ! Good luck on beating 203 Iâm sure you got a great shot mate !
Wow absolutely incredible! Love your videos Kevin. Keep up the he great work. From Ontario Canada.
Dang that thing rips! This is getting exciting!
The car was porpoising! Mad
Just an idea for shop testing on a semi smooth safe surface and you have a spare treadmill, that would be fun to watch on rainy days you can't take them out.
You have been teasing this a lot, thank you for the video. Very impressive and thanks for coming through on the promises. Hope you get the record! Awesome car.
Omg i have came after a year when i wasn't watching you and your yt channel have jumped from 100000 to 1200000 subs. Great work, keep it up man!
Well happy for you on this one
Such a fast car make more videos and a car that is faster đđŻâ€ïž
Keep doing your own thing man! Great fun
Thanks for always putting very helpful and cool links in for us Kev.
Absolutely mental - love it!
Incredible! Canât wait to see you smash the record! Much love from America!
Brilliant, will be looking out for the second run đđ»
Congratulations on your epic speed run! Looking forward to seeing it on a longer track!
At the best places that I have here, I can only reach 65 mph. There's no long race strips close by.
Looking forward to more videos on this build.
Also, this almost seems to be getting into drag rc racing. Straight line high-speed runs. Any thoughts about getting the drag slash?
I bet kev was so excited đ. Good job kev can't wait you've definitely got quite a bit of projects going on.
