Now there's an idea for sustainability on a small scale. On a farm and need electricity to top up the batteries you can let your cattle dog run as exercise. They can run for hours and have such great stamina.

Border Collies are WORKING dogs. That's why they want to work and run so much. People forget that most big and medium sized dogs were bred for specific hard work tasks. And so most medium and big dogs need a LOT of exercise. Even if they're now just bred for use as pets. The drive is still there and isn't going away any time soon. It's literally in their DNA.

A simple walk won't do anything for him, and there are very few places he will be able to run around off leash and really work out his energy. I'm the dog groomer who has to handle the untrained and under stimulated working dogs that never get a chance to run, and my heart breaks for those dogs because I am one of very few people who are willing to work with them and I know many of them will never live a full and healthy life. Keep doing what you're doing. Big boy looks super happy and healthy and well cared for. ❤

All dogs should have their own exercise treadmills like this. Not because you're too lazy to walk the dog, but to get that excess energy out of them, or days you can't go outside. Or maybe you're disabled and you can't get out as much as you'd like, and the dog has to be with you all the time.
Exactly! Plus no human can run as fast or for as long as this dog can. Every dog deserves to be able to run at their full speed every now and then. It's freeing and they absolutely love it. Unfortunately too many dogs are stuck in small homes or small back yards never able have this feeling of running.
Good enrichment for energy burning off ignore the people calling you lazy I dont think you are your just calming your gsd down which is a good thing I would reccomend things like this for my energetic pupper if I had the money. But your actually giving your gsd enough excersise 100% and your a very responsible owner saying he doesnt go to parks incase he gets into fights

When he starts being drug and is flopping up and down i get the picture he is done. (It’s self propelled. Manual treadmill). I pinned because many have asked this question. As soon as he stops actively pulling the belt backwards it slows downs very quickly. It's just like how he would stop on level ground. I started him at 2 min and worked up to 15 min. I pay attention to how long it takes him to cool down and return to normal respiratory rate after. In thr basement it'd about 55/60 degrees all the time so it's not hot either.
I get pretty excited to do my job when stuff isn't going wrong lol. I'm also weird and have a physically demanding job where I don't have to talk to people much and can just do my job. It's very nice for me. So there ya go. XD
I sometimes get excited to exercise if I'm not exhausted socially and mentally from work and get into the swing of it... but lately that's like never... and I don't like cleaning so if I had a job I was good at, liked, and not belittled over as or more often as I was praised for doing well I probably would be a little more excited. I used to be. I used to come in extra days a week cause I didn't want to get too behind and the old folks were nice to me and made me want to help. Now they're anxious and I'm anxious and my coworkers are stressed and I barely wanna be there most days
