Wait,so the game is not finished yet?(although I bought it the day before yesterday)
*"You're playing as a cigar smoking badass who just happens to have chainsaw as a leg."*
I like this game already 😂
Seeing you in the comments everywhere always puts a smile on my face. Glad to see you’re a Gman fan! 😄
You should read Chainsaw Man
@@Q269 I’m really glad I wasn’t the only one who was thinking of chainsaw man when he said this game had a chainsaw leg 🤘

Love it

The chainsaw leg alone was enough to convince me on this game
@today was a good day shut up, bot!
haha chainsaw leg go brrrrrr
based snake pfp
@today was a good day bye bye fkhead
Im sold too looks great
That "Guns, guns, guns" is a reference to Robocop 1987. Clarence J. Boddicker says it when making a drug deal before Murphy busts through the door and messes everyone up. This game looks great. I'll be buying copies for my brother and I when it releases.
Hey hey hey! I'm an 80s fan and know all 80s films like the back of my hand. You damn right I got that Robocop reference right off the bat.
You are a good brother
@@DYNANiK.official 👍🏻
Heads up the developer of this game also made a free doom conversion mod called Total chaos, it's a good free horror game.
Yeah I was disappointed why he didn't mention it
@@anvilengine4142 does he even knew about it
@@anvilengine4142
Sadly if you either an DooM 2 OG or Pyrocynical viewer, barely anyone knew that TO's dev made Total Chaos
It's like Blood Dragon, Ultrakill and Ghostrunner had a hyperactive, murderous cyborg baby.
Doom eternal as well
...so chainsaw ma-
With a dash of balls to the wall chainsaw man
Blood Dragon is prob my fav Farcry, maybe tied with FC2 for very different reasons.
its more like ultrakill + kick in the balls hyperactive ghostrunner hd 4d deluxe edition kick enemies in the balls
16:44 not generic effect, it's clearly a reference to the energy balls that the Terminators appear in when they time travel in T2.
I think Saints Row IV had a minigun-rocket launcher-flamethrower combo as one of the DLC weapons.
Ah yes, the "merica" gun of Commander in Chief DLC
I'm ready for this Era of shooters to take over a large space of the gaming world. So much artistic creativity and cool adjustments and steps forward for the genre on all aspects.
This is just a cyberpunk copy of Doom: Eternal. And if that's your kind of game, that's totally fine, but let's not pretend like we've already had at least 2-3 Eternal shooters come out lately.
@@arnox4554 The genre itself thrived back in the day when everything was a Doom clone as well, so it's not really the end of the world when there's been a couple of games out of the large pool being released that base themselves off Eternal. There are just as many boomer shooters slowly creeping their way out of early access that focus on very different things (Prodeus with community mods, Graven attempting an rpg with classic shooter gameplay, etc). I think as long as there are games that can go for a more classic approach or those that take and adjust from the Eternal formula, it's good for both up and coming/veteran devs looking to make a name for themselves as well as us the consumers looking to try out new shit that's not filled to the brim with crappy AAA ideology and predatory practices.
@@Pabzooloo Oh, don't get me wrong. I'll play this stuff ANY day of the week compared to Epic Games' Daycare Center or Asspex Legends, but yeah, I just get a little irked by seeing these Eternal shooters constantly get overhyped by Gman and co.
For example, what about Unreal Tournament? When are we FINALLY gonna get another arena shooter that isn't ass in some major way? Not counting Halo, the last good arena shooter we got for the PC was fucking UT2004! Almost two decades ago!
@@arnox4554 I'm in agreement with you that the Eternal clones are getting overhyped from reviewers. Thankfully, we have a large variety of old school shooters in the woodwork like Hrot, Dread Templar and Prodeus that favor level design and exploration over the arena style pve combat.
It definitely feels like most devs are probably still scared to put out a fully multiplayer arena shooter after Lawbreakers and the quiet demise of Quake Champions. I don't know what it would take for someone to take a crack at the genre in the modern Era, but I would also love to see either a new UT or something very Unreal inspired to break out.
@@Pabzooloo Both Lawbreakers and Quake Champions were laughable attempts at arena shooters in comparison to UT99 and UT2004. Lawbreakers much moreso actually than Quake Champions. It's even more insulting when you consider Lawbreakers was headed by Cliffy B., and HE of ALL people should have the known the lessons of UT99, but he COMPLETELY turned his back on that and decided to make yet another live service shit game that you can't even play anymore even if you wanted to.
Quake Champions fared better, but not by much at all, still being HEAVILY restricted in functionality as compared to UT99 and UT2004 both. Even the comparatively much more limited Quake 3 had more functionality behind it than Champions.
The problem isn't with the basic arena shooter formula. The problem is these games coming out and acting like just because they have arena shooter gameplay, they can stand toe to toe with Unreal Tournament. Except they can't, and it's not even fucking close, because UT99 was insanely good for a MULTITUDE of reasons, not just it's gameplay, and these half-assed attempts are never going to unseat it from its throne or capture people's attention for more than a month.
There needs to be FULL modding support. There needs to be an industry grade level editor. There needs to be bots. There needs to be bot configuring. There needs to be a flexible and powerful graphics engine. There needs to be more than two gamemodes. There needs to be a dedicated server client. There needs to be full player customization. And did Lawbreakers or Quake Champions launch with ANY of this? lolno. But they got microtransactions in there. Yep, they got that in there day one. That's clearly what's important, isn't it.
So... TL;DR - When I said an arena shooter like Unreal Tournament, I meant a REAL FUCKING arena shooter. Not any of these bullshit live service stripped-down attempts.
Man i love how over the top fps games are making a comeback
What about borderlands or wolfenstein or far cry blood dragon... they never left, just most of them sucked chode
im so glad that theres been a boom in indie movement shooters recently. its like people are finally realizing that both shooting and zooming fast at the same time is fun as hell.
Sup! I'm one of the voice actors in the game that voiced ... alot of the characters lol. The devs have poured LOVE into this game and it's been a pleasure to be both apart of it and watch it grow into this power house of a game! Hope y'all enjoy it!
Hey, please tell them to make the demo available again. Making it time-limited was a slap in the potential customers' faces.
@@mugwump7049 it'll be available in early access on steam tomorrow!
@@TartanKiwi Early access costs money. I'm not paying to try a game, I do when I can be sure I'll like it. When there is no demo, it forces me to resort to less legal means, if you catch my drift.
@@mugwump7049 huh, if you wanna crack the game whats the point of buying it lmao? I did buy it to support the devs ignoring the fact that in my country it has a price of new call of duty
@callme_elsai Because if I like the game, I'll want to support the devs too.
This seems like a fun game.
Played the demo and had a blast. Smooth and fun as hell.
me too and honestly its a great Demo !
Me too, I really liked the demo, it was like in the past with shareware 😄
Even when I was sick I was having a blast
If both games ever get finished, id like to see the main character in a death battle with either v1 or v2 from ultrakill. Gonna be the coolest thing ever.
Robot arm vs Chainsaw leg.
Goddamn glorious.
Jesus! That walk speed looks insanely fast!!
YOOOO AVALANCHE!
The minigun/ flamethrower combo reminds me of the MG 08/15 with flamethrower in Necrovision Lost Company
It’s the gun from Fortress isn’t it? Christopher Lambert uses it.
@@rummazknowsbest1152 name checks out haha
Assault Rifle/Flamethrower from Painkiller Also
I literally just found this game on steam, played the demo and copped it. Never play these type of "Quake" like games but the art style sold me on it. I'm a sucker for cyberpunk.
Edit - The level design in this game is amazing to
Did you play Deus Ex Human Revolution/Mankind Divided already?
@@felixader Of course, Eidos Montreal was forced to split the game in half, with the second half being cancelled by square enix.
Tip for the SMGs: the normal shotgun's explosive shot causes any enemy who gets stunned to take double damage while they are stunned. The SMGs can deal an absurd amount of damage when used with the shotgun.
Syn: I see all.
Homer: SHUT UP
I don't know why but I just love that bit.
Good video man! I like that you dont hold back on things that annoy you instead of kissing ass. Honest feedback is the only way we can heal this bum ass industry we call modern gaming.
I don't watch anyone who kisses ass, but I guess that's because I avoid IGN like the plague? I wouldn't call the industry 'bum ass' either considering the plethora of fantastic games we get each year on top of a golden age of indie development and a VR boom right around the corner...
I’ve been playing it so far and I’ve been really enjoying it. It reminds me of Cyberpunk 2077 mixed with the action heroes of the 80’s and 90’s along with ultrakill and Duke Nukem.
I'm honestly surprised that there is already a new fps game out that looks to be even better than DUSK. Because DUSK was freaking amazing. Hopefully we will continue to get more of these badass old school fps games. Makes me feel like im young and back in the 90s again.
Honestly it’s cool seeing how far the dev has come since total chaos.
It's Wadaholic, boy!
11:53
The Huo-Long Heater from Team Fortress 2 is kinda like a minigun flamethrower
Makes a AOE ring of fire when you shoot it
Im already into it just because of the fact that you can dual wield pistols specifically so you can spin one and shoot the other. One is for pain, two is for style
Gotta love the flip off the main character does after launching the left hand missiles
There's like a million games like this now, but for some reason this one seems actually interesting.
The chainsaw leg at least seems marginally more plausible than Cherry Darling’s assault rifle leg from Planet Terror
This looks AWESOME.
Also, that Gene Splicer looks like the narrator in Jurassic Park
every now and then as a boomer shooter fan, a game that is literally right up your alley comes out. its a good feeling
So glad this game is finally getting attention. The demo was so damn fun and I can’t wait to buy the game tomorrow
3:22 I can agree synthwave is a really good genre
This seems like a very "Suffering from success" type of problem for the game to have but- The core game loop and optimization is so mirror sheen polished that it reflects every last remaining flaw all the more.
I was in stunned awe that it had all this crazy gunplay, physics and more then saw an enemy shooting through a wall and it seemed somehow more egregious due to the rest of the bar being higher.
thank you g-man for putting games like this on our radar, you are legit doing the gaming community a great service. keep it up please!
I reeeeally wanna think that the minigun/flamethrower combo's been done before in either Dead Space 2 or 3, but I could be wrong.. maybe it was a smaller machinegun. Shoutout to their weapon crafting tho.
man i hope that this and Ultrakill will be released at least year off from one another, they are little bit to simillar (and maybe hellhunt / dreadtemplar too but that game relegated its headshot based slowmotion from default to unlockable)
The only thing these games have in common is the fast-paced Doom Eternal type of gameplay. Totally different setting, atmosphere, visual style and even level design: Ultrakill is mostly narrow corridors and small rooms whereas this relies more on wide open environments.
The pixel blood with the 3d models is surprisingly nice looking
I just won this game from my buddy H_Mods during his sponsored stream for this game....and I am really excited for it. He also sent me Crystal Caves HD and Secret Agent HD, and I can't really describe how hard it hits in the Apogee nostalgia. I LOVED Apogee / 3DRealms as a kid, and Turbo Overkill is strongly in line with what they were famous for. It's an awesome game that feels like Doom Eternal mixed with Necromunda: Hired Gun, Ghostrunner, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Titanfall 2, and other high-speed movement / boomer shooters of recent years. It's surprisingly fresh....and apparently made by a single guy.
Nice to see Dredd getting some love, I think it's one of the most underated action movies of the last decade.
Underrated? I heard nothing but praise for that movie.
@@mugwump7049 It flopped at the box office bro. People were complaining that it was too similar to The Raid, which was ridiculous. All the negative comments seemed to kill it at the box office, which is why we never got a sequel.
I absolutely love this game, I wasn't too sure for the first hour, but now I'm addicted and can't wait too see what else it has to offer. Murder machine is brutal but so satisfying, the pistol is my go to entering every encounter lol.
Amazing to see Apogee! I loved the Commander Keen series as a kid and played the hell out of all of them after elementary school everyday.
I’m not even a minute in and I’m already sold with the chainsaw leg.
9:49 I must admit I do love me some screen shake when done right. That right there though is overdone. If they lowered the strength a good bit I think it would be far nicer to deal with.
I played the demo during the Steam next fest and it was incredible. Can't wait to get the full game
The EDF series has a weapon line called the flame revolver.
It's an artillery sized, power armour mounted Gatling flamethrower.
Most important feature in the game?
The ability to give the enemy the middle finger before you kill them.
Great review Gman, as always! Can’t Wait to see what is in store next!
I think when we look at the FPS landscape now the “triple A” titles are now janky and indy and retro FPS are the triple A products! DooM is still king whatever way up you tip the pyramid.
Doom is a triple A game you realize that right?
Maybe someone looking at the landscape who seriously needs a pair of glasses... FPS is a genre so massive and varied most of it can't be compared to eachother, particularly something like Military FPS to retro style fast paced fantasy/sci-fi FPS.
@@dirpyturtle69 Yeah which is why its the exception and hence my comment on it still being King.
@@cenciende9401 No, triple A fps are janky and incomplete right now.
14:43 that vehicle part straight up looks like Descent, noice!
someone should make an indie shooter about a man and a dog
We'd first need to take a pickle and pork down the frog and toad to see him about it.
A man and a Dog? Necromunda Hired Gun
this is one best reviews I've seen in a long time !💯👍
Another great FPS! Thanks G for sharing.
Already played the demo and I'm gonna get it regardless but I love watching your vids
same
Funny how you opened with Guile's theme when the last video I watched actually discussed that meme in detail
I remember seeing a tweet about this game a few months back. So happy to see it getting some love!
So. Many. Retro. Shooters.
You could totally make a top 20 of your favorite, at some point.
Glad I'm not the only one who remembers Terminal Velocity! That game was my childhood
The references for cyberpunk movies looks endless. They even have the high-rise skatepark from Dredd. Nice
the kick of the century
5:43 R.I.P. good buddy.
Gman, you are so good at managing my wishlist for me, this looks beautiful
This is so awesome!
The Micro-missile Luncher + Bird flipping is pretty cool!..
Did anyone notice the spawn-in animation for enemies is the time-travel ball from Terminator? NOICE!!
looks SICK. Chainsaw leg slide is a genius move.
Woaaaaaaah!!! This looks amazing!
As a huge fan of synthwave, cyberpunk and all around cybernetic fuckage. This game and how you describe it stimulates my ADHD riddled brain and i can't wait to play this. You sir are god among FPS reviewers and even players with how sick you make the games look!
The advertisement sign that said “bruh” is what convinced me to get the game
The demo for this game was a ton of fun and have been waiting anxiously for more. Can't wait for full release!
4:22 does he keep flipping the bird after target locking the missiles? noice.
The basic enemies causing more damage than the heavy units is kinda like the original Doom. Where a room full of zombie hit scanners is more of a threat than several Barons of Hell and should always take priority.
Definitely picking this up
Been playing this one and its absolutely nuts, the weapons and their alt fire modes are insane, theres a telefrag sniper and an ion cannon gun too, shits wild.
I'm so hype about Turbo Overkill!
Just saw that this game released today after checking total chaos' mod page. This game went to the top my wishlist faster then you could say "chainsaw"
10:55 Looks like a faster-firing Eightball, I like it! :D
That effect of enemies spawning is the time bubble from Terminator, kind of a cool small reference
I tried it during the Steak fest and loved it, definitely will keep an eye.
Didn't hear about this game but another doom like game? I feel Gman loves the doom style games but I don't hate it I mean it's another Cyberpunkish, futuristic, retro doom game which I also adore that type of style. Idk I might try it out but thanks for showing us this game.
Hes a boomer
@@otomon5 He isn’t an actual boomer lol.
@@otomon5 I think he's either late gen X or early millenial.
FromSoftware made a fairly competent called “Shadow Tower Abyss” on the PS2. *Japan only release, but I’m sure there are emulators.
Given the popularity of Elden Ring videos, I think making a video similar to Ironpineapple’s on this game would get a lot of views and be really cool.
Looks great i can't wait for full release!
Thanks GMan. I’m getting this game is my bread and butter. I’m getting this one from your recommendation… damn.
Looks really good
Good timing Big G
Crystal Caves was my bread and butter as a kid. LOVED that game!
wow, this looks really good
Currently playing this game, it is beyond amazing!
"Bark for me"

4:24 I like the Dredd reference in this level design.
I need to look into this
This game looks sweet. I've been neglecting the FPS genre for to long now its time to go back to my roots and this looks like a good place to start.
I cannot wait to play this.
You had me at 'chainsaw slide button'.
Highlight of the last nextfest for sure. Demo was nuts
Been waiting for another game like this
Looks awesome :).
I love how the super shotgun's pick up animation is a Evil Dead reference.
This looks mad fun ngl
