I have heard Tarun earlier and following Ather since last 5-6 Years. This was the best interview till date of Ather CEO..n I sincerely believe in his vision n know that in coming years Ather will beat Activa and other legacy players..They just need more relevant marketing and a 1-2 products below 1 lakh..Rest people of Bharat will take care..

He's concerned for the future because his company totally relies on the future (EV Vehicles ofc). It's hard to break the Activa legacy but surely Ather will grow at a good pace as he's totally ready with the future problems (His present is going well with no quality issues as such and good funding from investors)

Hi Tarun, if you or your team is reading this, please look into enclosed reverse leaning trikes. Like the AKO Trike. A product like that is very much needed in the Indian market. It has environmental protection, improved safety over bikes, and more stable than bikes. More importantly, cars are getting expensive, and after COVID, not everyone is comfortable with public transport or riding a two wheeler. Thus, there is a need for a weather protected 2 seater vehicle within 3-5 lakh range for middle and upper middle class office goers. This is a much needed vehicle category, which no one significant is making in the Indian market.
Our CMVR rules do not allow such vehicles.

This guy literally spent his so much time in the R&D of the scooter that it will actually sustain very well unlike Ola which is struggling for its quality issues, battery, braking and so on

@@RP-kr2mgTVS will most probably acquire some other Electric Brands and make them work for TVS. They are not being good in looks and pricing which is a concern for now but as I feel, TVS will go big (It will still take time)

I had loved a like what Sir Tarun Mehta said you don't need to know everything when you are starting you must focus on end result what you want to deliver i
Business is so dynamic any number can't fixed for everything
Still I would not buy Ather because
1. the extra amount you are charging , I can fill my Activa tank for like 7 years with that same money .
2. Long time to charge the vehicle , I am too lazy to charge my watch and to charge an electric vehicle is a hassle
3. If you are charging so much , why would I have mental pressure of finding charging station ( in case i travel long distance)
4. What if after 5 years my battery dies or goes to 50% (i dont trust your statement that it would fall to ~75%) , then i would still have to spend large amount .
5.If I sell my 2 wheeler or Activa , I get good resale , will any1 buy old Atger after 5-6 years from me
All points can be debatable like reducing battery costs etc , but 1 st point holds a lot of importance .

Commenting as Ather user;
1. I do not agree him saying customers need not pay to use navigation, it's a paid subscription service. Inspite of paying premium amount, customers have to pay in addition for the service.
2. Sending navigation from WhatsApp received link is a new feature, I do not agree him saying this exist from 2 years. This also gets disabled once the subscription gets expired
3. Without subscription the display on the dashboard is obsolete, except for which it shows the speed and acceleration
I saw this video after just buying Ather 450 X and I am sure now by seeing his views that Ather Customers wont be regret of buying Ather Vehicles anymore. Keep it up Tarun Sir

first i watched you on podcast with nikhil kamath WTF along with myntra head and future group pioneer and after this one.loving it man.
We also need to know that, When there is a largest group of researchers in an RND Department, it takes the company like Ather to the next level when all the members totally realise that they are working to build the company. We have to totally realise that, 'no matter how much more work I myself seem to do here than other members in this room, I should always maintain a teamwork mindset, rather than ranting for selfish acclamation'.
I'm seeing this podcast long time after it published . And honestly speeking I kept this podcast in watch list for 1 month that I will watch it once i get free. One thing I feel is quality of steel used in foreign brand like Toyota etc is excellent quality of steel used in their engines and gears etc which do not wear tear during the whole life time of the vehicle but local brands lack. For making of a brand basic is excellent quality of steel and other inner parts and not only external luxury.

Two things ather should focus on is that
1) like activa has huge carrying capacity gas kaa cylinder activa pe leke jaate thei toh utni capacity honi chai e
2) battery cost kam ho utnaa achaa cost of battery= cost of new Activa toh sab log activa lege toh battery kaa price kam kiji e
1. You can easily carry gas cylinder with Ather.
2. Battery cost is not in the hands of Ather. As it depends on total ecosystem.

Bhai, all depends on how the software in the embedded chip is effective is maintaining the battery and motor temperature. Software not to show google map or Android auto but the one used for system maintenance. Considering Indian climate, if the 2 wheeler is seating outside in summer, the temperature can gets to 60 degrees under sun. Unless companies come up with liquid cooling systems, the 2 wheelers may not burn but the efficiency of battery will drastically go down and may have to be thrown away in 5 years. Still the Indian scooters are way way cheaper than other developing countries.

7:37 I don't think so. When tesla was lunch in USA, at that time indian hardly know about this. At that time CZcams and Internet was costly here. From that time I was tracking tesla improvemnt and they have already built those technology any if you try to find .. there are videos on that. I don't think any growing EV company can beat Tesla Technology, its AI and its R&D team. but if you are saying than i hope you will be right :)

Enjoyed the interview, but two things. The first is that the answer to why India has not built a market leader brand in vehicles, and i mean cars, was not sufficient. Would like a more adequate response.
Second is, that if the dream is to have infinite free energy access and we start with the purpose of reducing the cost of energy, how is it that these two wheelers are more expensive than the rest
