- il-festa ta' San Gejtanu fil-Ħamrun/ The feast of St Cajetan in Hamrun, is celebrated mostly over the weekend, apart from being one of the biggest on the island, its known for the rivalry between the St Joseph and the St Cajetan band clubs. The festa is Big, Bustling & Colourful, and the stairs in front of the church that would make anyone think twice about running up !! let along carrying a massive statue, This an exciting moment when the riffreija ( carriers ) run up 9 stairs at the end of the march ...Did they make it ? Watch the video ...one year they almost did not!!

Thanks for the video Steve. Last time I was at the Feast was the year it was cancelled! We were very disappointed as we had visited in August for that specific reason. Brings back memories from my youth. My Dad had a grocery store at the corner of Strada San Ġejtanu and Duke of Edinburgh so as kids we used to wait for the bands to march through that intersection. Loved the heat, noise and fanfare in those days.

Steve it's not because you are not doing good videos it's just that there is such a big range of videos that there's a lot of competition. It is also very hot weather and people are preferring to go out by the sea instead of watching u tube.A
s for me l prefer to stay on my sofa under the air-condition watching your videos and still feeling the vibe of beautiful sunsets and walking with you behind the gay music of the bands that march through the village streets of Malta.Steve I am sure that you still have many followers who would love to keep watching your beautiful videos . However sometimes there may come moments when one for some reason will not be able to stay watching u. Another great festa video, loved it Steve.
Just off the road up the side of the church we had a Maltese friend who was madly passionate about his band music and they had a flat at the sea which they loaned us many times and in that flat he had numerous tapes of the Maltese bands and when we stayed there we used to play the tapes, they were really good , great memories, sadly he is not with us now but still great memories. Thankyou Steve. 👍❤😊

Another great video of a lovely feast, you were saying you liked the bands well I had a Maltese friend who lived just off that road up the side of the church and he was mad passionate about his Maltese bands and in particular the ones of Hamrun , sadly he is not with us now, he had a flat by the sea that he loaned us many many times and in the flat he had many tapes of the bands and we used to like to play them when we were there, great times.

Yes there are many fantastics in hamrun regarding bands, its a great sound, and what a tradition, the atmosphere was awesome, and great feelings when the statue gets up the stars,

Its been done like this for many years, it just so exciting to do it that way and an awesome end to a beautiful walk
