9 Things Doug DeMuro Got WRONG About the Ferrari F430

- @DougDeMuro recently had a video on a Ferrari F430 manual conversion that they were selling on @carsandbids - We happened to watch the conclusion of the auction live and sadly it did not sell. But when I watched Doug's video, I noticed a few things he got wrong, or better stated, a few things that I would like to add corrections to. His original video is here: • Ferrari F430 6-Speed M...
I just want to also clarify, I'm not trying to beat up daddy Doug. I think he does great videos. I just wanted to make sure people didn't perpetuate some inaccuracies about the F430. Enjoy.

#ferrari #f430 #review - Auta a dopravní prostředky
My Scuderia was first registered in July 2010 (we dont do model years in Europe like the US does)
That might be it, maybe it's the US doesn't have any 2010 F430s, or at least not on paper.
We do actually. When Ferrari change mode year here in the EU, it also changes in the US. And it has been like that for decades.
Damn, correcting daddy Doug. You got some huevos!
I'm not trying to bust his balls... Just issue some corrections.
And right you are to do so !👍🏻
DeMuro often get a bunch of things wrong. I find him hard to watch for the same reason.
Doug is no expert on any car.
Doug busts balls all the time when others make a mistake...good call I say.
I have a 2006 factory manual F430 Spider. I can confirm that the selected gear LED screen is there but does not work at all.
Yup. It's just... there. LOL
I emailed him back in the day when he sold the 360 and he said he'd love an F430 Spyder with a manual one day.
Should have bought that one😂.
Yeah.
Thanks for all your amazing content. I recently did the tail light fix thanks to your videos, and today I finally learned what the off button is for! :D
Haha you're welcome
Love this, love the details. Thanks Dan!
You bet.
Loved the discussion on engine evolution. This explains why the F430 is such a good choice, particularly with a stick.
Yes indeed!
Another quality video. Thanks!
Thanks!
Very interesting. Thanks Dan!
You bet.
Throwin’ a little shade at Dougie….I LOVE IT!!
Eh not much shade. Just a touch
How do you like that wrap on the exhaust? Have you done any temp tests or nah? I have an S-Line and have been thinking. 🤔
Heat wrap just falls apart on Ferrari exhausts so I would not recommend it.
Dan - awesome video. Not sure if you know the answer to this. Regarding the OEM gated stick housing cap horse …. Do you know if any of the OEM gated stick housing caps came from the factory with gear shift pattern instead of the horse???
The shift ball? I believe there were a few different versions but I'm not certain.
Yes, if you chose a carbon fiber gear shift knob without the gear shift pattern, you would get the gate with the shift pattern in a place of the horse. Both were also available from Ferrari as an option to buy and install.
Sorry, not the ball, but gated plate that usually has the horse. Instead of the horse, wondering if any OEM plates have the gated pattern engraved. Like with this F430 spider on Bringatrailer. Photo 57/116 you can see it.
You know Your Ferrari's Dan!
I wish I knew them better!
Dan , have you done an expose on the differences between the two types of conversions and is one better than the other mechanically? (I understand the newer one may be less expensive than the EAG?
I did discuss this
Not trying to be nitpicky, more so trying to see if my car is different… on the topic of the HVAC, my “off” button controls the thermostat, not simply the AC compressor. Meaning, if it’s “off” the HEAT doesn’t work either. It just blows air according to the fan speed selection knob only. So essentially by selecting the “off” button, the middle temperature knob is ignored. If it is “on,” then the middle temperature knob determines whether or not the heat or the AC will kick on, which ever is needed to get to the selected temperature. Again, that seems to be how it works in my car… In which case, the “off” button really means “temperature / thermostat off.” Maybe I’m remembering all that incorrectly as I rarely need to run the heat living in Florida… but I’m next to positive that’s how mine works. And honestly, I think it’s not all that unintuitive if that’s the case.
It does shut off the heat on mine
So it's just OFF on everything. I think it may vary based on year. More Ferrari fun.
@@normalguysupercar probably. I have a 2006.
@@Way2fasttt okay, cool. So mine isn’t broken. Lol
the frunk switch doesn't work with my 05' unless key is on... but I always use the manual cable underneath anyway ;)
Coupe or spider?
@@normalguysupercar Coupe !
@@RaphaelLacoste I swear there's no consistency. Ferrari!! Yay!
Thanks for additional informations :)
No problem!
Dan, I apologize if I've missed it, but how many manual conversion kits are out there? Cambio Manuale and EAG, others? Do they both require defeating the E-diff and what exactly is that? How does defeating E-diff affect the car? On the conversion kits, for what cars are they available that your shop is working with, 430, 599, what else?
Thanks, I really enjoy your channel, and hope to come by and visit you guys if only to say hello and pet Moses.
Take care
There's 3 plus OEM that I'm aware of. We only use Cambio Manuale now. The e-diff delete is optional. Deleting the e-diff makes the diff default to a limited slip differential. It's the only way to completely remove the F1 system.
@@normalguysupercar Thanks Dan, I appreciate the info.
Hi Dan. You say it is a conversion (which I am well aware of). But you also said that the 458 is very similar. Can the conversion be done to a 458?
No it's a completely different transmission in the 458
Dan, Doug's associate Kennen recently did a video about an F430 on Cars & Bids with a manual conversion. He also said it was a transmission swap. I commented on that. BTW, I see Meg's Mini with the hood up. Maintenance time?
Yeah, I hate the term swap. It highly suggests the transmission is replaced which is of course not accurate.
@@normalguysupercar The Mini Cooper is the real super car in your garage.
I needed an oil change.
Not going to touch that one!
the cali ver 1 ... has a 430 engine ??? doest it have same gear system ??
Basically the same engine, same F136 designation but not identical to the F430. Different transmission, it's got the DCT transmission
Both California and 430 are Maserati/Ferrari engines. Maserati is a cross-plane crankshaft while the Ferrari is a flat-plane crank
Re: A/C OFF button, the funny thing is, on the 360 it says STOP instead of OFF, which is even more confusing, even possibly alarming, so it seems like someone pointed that out to Ferrari and they said “no problem, we’ll fix that” and changed STOP to OFF . Anything else would be like admitting to making a mistake which is not permissible at Ferrari.
Haha yes
The history of Ferrari designs and engines is SHORT AND CRISP. That's the most I learned about Ferrari designs and engines in less than 3 minutes of that video portion.
Thank you
Very interesting 👍
Yup
Thanks for the update Dan DeMuro, I'm off now to have some pancakes...
🤣
LOL
Dan, this video reminds of that mopar expert on motor trend tv that knows mopars inside and out except you’re the Ferrari guy
Eh, I wish I were that knowledgeable, I still have lots to learn. But I feel I know F430s pretty darn well.
Great job.
Thanks!
I do have an first Registered 2010 f430 Spider. But at ferrari it’s registered as manufacturerd in 2009 ( maybe took them some time to deliver it)
It's registered as a 2010 model year?
@@normalguysupercarNot officially, got registered by ferrari in 2009 by the vin even it wasnt ready to deliver
The 458 started in 2009 here in Europe
Yup
There’s so much room above the exhaust, I’m surprised Ferrari didn’t install a tray/ compartment back there to keep your take-away curry warm.
Lol we've actually made breakfast tacos on the exhaust before. I'm not joking.
I enjoyed the information and gave me a little better education on the period of Ferrari's I like the most.
Glad to hear it!
Love it!!!!!! Super cool you know EVERYTHING about 430!!!!
Eh I wish I did.
Dan is the type of guy who corrects Doug DeMuro.
Yes.
Swap :Physically remplace unit A with unit B
Convert : Turn unit A into unit B without replacing unit A
You're wekcome M Demuro... 🤣
Yes.
Everyone has their own tastes, but this reminds me why I put Doug on my YT "don't recommend" list.
Well that's ok
The California is ALSO direct injection like the 458 ;)
Ah yes
Thank you so much for calling out Doug's idiocy.
Eh I mean it's not like these are catastrophic errors
@@normalguysupercartrue, but he presents these things as fact, and it's getting old...esp the "off button" issue
Dan and Josh...Ferrari Bosses! Don't mess with The Stub!!
LOL
Pretty sure the "off" button on my 2009 will turn off both heat and AC as the entire climate control is off, but you can still manually operate the fan and airflow.
Entirely probable.
I would imagine by now Doug has already prepared a Shallow Grave with your name on it...
Na I wasn't hard on him.
I thought the same when I first saw his review. Doug DeMuro is a bit of a strange duck.
Correction, wealthy strange duck. LOL!
He's a supercilious dork.
Doug was also wrong for saying the 360 looks like a squished frog and isn't aging well!
True.
weird Doug got those few things wrong because he always seemed to make a big deal about "all the features and quirks" about the cars he was showing... he should have consulted you guys 1st
LOL I mean to be fair, these weren't like massive errors.
@@normalguysupercar I know, but they were still funny
Doug is brilliant at marketing to Millennials. But he doesn't actually know much about cars. Dan REALLY knows about cars.
Eh I think he knows data
Doug gets most things wrong….even his choise of clothing
LOL that's not very nice.
I know….his shorts are very bad….lol
Yes, I wouldn't want those genes! 🤣🤣🤣
Shots fired 😅
Naa, I wasn't trying to bust his balls.
Get em Dan, And put nitrous on the little "S" car...
Haha! That would be fun.
As far as I'm aware, I think but I could be wrong, I don't know.
About?
Well done Dan, you have a lot of Ferrari knowledge .Not a fan of Doug De Muro . Waffles on too much
Eh, I like his videos.
Didn't doug sell his car auction site recently for hundreds of millions? Go look at how many auctions end on BAT every hour, multiply by $5K (now $7500), and realize that site prints money. I'm amazed that they had the balls to raise that $5K cap by 50%.
Yeah he's printing money now
Doug own cars and bids and BAT?
@@ht1863 He owned C&B, but not BAT. He might still own C&B, not sure on that.
I've never heard of Doug DeMuro before, but his hysterical manner of speech and presentation really puts me off. Dan and Josh's explanations and presentations are logical, understandable, delivered in a normal voice and just very well done, without any hysterics at all. Doug may or may not have some points to make, but I hope not to hear his voice ever again. Life is too short for me to have to listen to that.
Haha nice
10. Chicks won't automatically dig you.
I think he actually did a video on Ferraris not getting chicks eons ago.
I Thought 2004 Was The First Year For The F430 i Guess im Wrong LOL
I don't think it was but I may be wrong
I think that was the year they were exposed at the Auto show in Geneva or Frankfurt wherever it was.
@@romeo2r2 I Think You Are Correct That's Probably What I'm Thinking of
I say it's time to invest in a "Doug DeMuro Dunk Tank"... Everytime Doug says something asinine, you can dunk him. 😜 Views would skyrocket.
Lol
Doug is the kind of guy to make 9 mistakes on the f430
Eh, I suppose?
Tell Doug , you know the F430 quirks and features better than him 😂
Well, I should considering how many I've had. :)
Doug gets a lot of things wrong, and his reviews are laughable
Eh I like most of them
This is a bit nit picky but I guess not amongst those who bleed Ferrari Red
Eh it's just facts
Trolling dug ? Lol
Na
NO HE DIDNT... DOUG DEMURO IS A GOD...LOL
Lol
I will never understand this craziness about conversion. I don‘t know anyone who got used to an F1 and wants to switch to a manual. And a converted will never have the artificially inflated value of an original manual. The F1 is the far superior driving experience.
I think if you haven't driven them, you won't really get it. Once you drive one, you get it. The OEM's are just so expensive now, it makes more sense to have a converted car if you plan on actually putting a lot of miles on it.
Yea, you could definitely say the the best bang for the buck is a converted F430. The conversion cost is at least being recognized in the market values they are commanding.
@@normalguysupercar before I got my F430F1 I drove both, original manual and F1. Yes the gated shifting is fun, but simply old fashioned and not comparable to the driving experience of the F1. If you really want to be quick then you can't get around an F1. In other words someone with sporty driving ambitions will never go back to manual shifting.
Doug is 35, gotta cut young bucks a break sometimes.
That dude is 35? That kinda surprises me, but I suppose I haven't thought about it too hard.
@@MEGLITatUT Tyler Hoover is a couple years older and I would have guessed him much younger than Uncle Doug
Makes me feel ancient...
@@normalguysupercar I have dibs on feeling ancient.
Dan, why are you trying to beef with Doug?? Lol
I'm not. I just wanted to correct a few inaccuracies.
Mistakes were made
LOL yup.
Just 9?
Well...
Doug is a bit much.
Eh I like him generally
Doug is a Ferrari hater who buys Ferrari's, the worst kind of person
Lol
Welp, you are technically incorrect as well. this is not a transmission conversion, it's a clutch conversion.
Kind of petty the things you bring up. To Doug's audience, there is no difference, but yeah, to a Ferrari snob I suppose there is a difference.
But I get it, you want to generate views, so bring up the king to meet that goal.
No, there's nothing to do with the clutch. You literally use the exact same clutch.
@@normalguysupercar then by your logic, it's not even a transmission conversion. Because you "literally use the same transmission"
It should probably be called a MANUAL CONVERSION
@@johnwinters9235 you do modify part of the transmission. That's why we call it a manual transmission conversion or just manual conversion.
@@johnwinters9235 I mean….if you’re going to say he’s wrong, then you’re wrong too. The clutch is the same. No clutch conversion at all. Everyone is too freaking picky. If we have to be 100% technical, then we have to basically say it’s a “hydraulic lines, shift cables, shift paddles, shift knob, throw out bearing, ECU tune, TCU delete, shifter housing, brake pedal, clutch pedal, and more stuff, swap.” LOL. Let’s just say it’s “a manual conversion” and be happy. 😀
@@thechallengestradale that is basically my whole point. Dan decided to take on the king with silly inconsistencies to try to generate clicks (just like he has done with Hoovie in the past)
Total click bait and it's kind of a ghetto move.
So pedantic. Can see in his views no one cares
Ok
Doug fanboys are cringey.
You seem like a decent dude but this video is a little strange… seems like jealousy
Uh ok?
From the 2 videos, both provided good infos on the F430, Dan’s 9 points corrections on Doug’s content were based on his many Ferrari maintenance n manual conversions , more added informations, didn’t see it as jealously. Quit being a Doug’s fanboy n critique based on both contents. 😫😫
Fake news!! Obviously jealous of Doug's success and hurting for content. I thought I blocked this channel, better hit it again. bye..
Do us a favor and block us so we don't have to see your comments.
Is Doug your fantasy? Get a life dude.
