Man, the 80's was a magincal decade. Greatest music to ever come out. Every week there would be 5 to 10 all time great songs coming out by amazing artists. Such a great decade! So wish the present was this way. Miss those days so much! Now days, you can't find good music, it's all gone. There aren't any good musicians and no one pics up instruments to form a band anymore. It's all computer generated and you don't have to have any talent to become a "musician". I long for the days when music was music!

The black guy on bass is Randy Jackson the judge from American Idol. They went through a band personnel change. Yes he was a Journey bandmate for a little bit and is a hell of a singer and bass player. Check out Edge of the blade, Suzanne(the vocals on this song are insanely high), Frontiers, I am, Good morning girl, Donna please, Raised on radio, It could have been you, The eyes of a woman, why can’t this night go on forever, Captured by the moment, Go away, Trouble child, Rubicon, Escape, Someday soon, People and places, Where were you, Departure, Sweet and simple, Daydream, Something to hide, La do da, Winds of March, It’s just the rain and Trial by fire. I could go on and on. Some of the songs are early Journey, Steve Perry solo, some have live videos and some do not and some are Journey years later. You’ll be able to tell after a while which ones are earlier Journey like when Steve first started out with them and which ones are in between and later Journey because you can hear Steve’s voice mature and the music matures as well. I look forward to your reactions to these that are so good but never got played on the radio back then.

You gotta go all the way back to when Steve first joined Journey. Greg Rollie was lead singer of Santana and he and Neal along with their manager Herbie Herbert started Journey. It began as a fusion band but their label was gonna drop them. Herbie suggested hiring a front man vocalist. Neal & Gregg weren't sure about Steve Perry but Herbie insisted they bring on Steve. Steve's amazing vocals turned this band into mega superstars. This was the 70's. Please listen to "Feeling That Way / Anytime" these songs go together it starts with Greg Rollie on vocals on organ...then Steve comes in and the rest is history. Greg was really good he was the sound of Santana "Black Magic Woman" but nobody can come close to Steve Perry's voice! This was just the start of where his voice will take him!

All these Journey songs you have reacted to have all been pretty mellow. Maybe it's time to react to a couple bangers. The ones I am requesting all come from the Escape tour, 1981 Live in Houston. They really showcase Steve Perry's range as well as Neil Schon's wicked guitar skills. Plus you get to see the personalities of the band members shine through
    Lovin' Touchin' Squeezin'
    Stone in Love
Lights ; Ok, Lights is not

One of the best things about being a teenager in the 80's was the fact that concert tickets were typically $15-20. If you lived in a big city, you could see a concert every weekend. I saw so many concerts it boggles the mind. I could see a band in Houston & then see them again in Dallas/Austin/New Orleans the next day if I wanted. I saw bands as an opening band & then as a headliner in the same year.

Neall Schon is one of the most underrated guitarists of that era. His musicianship and song writing ability is incredible. Randy Jackson taking over on bass from Ross Valorie did a great job, as well; I'm just a die-hard core Journey fan with Perry on vocals, Neal Schon on lead guitar, Jon Cain on the piano/keyboards, Ross Valorie on the bass and Steve Smith laying down those drum lines. That being said, Journey was great in the 70s, too, with Gregg Rollie as their lead singer/keyboardist and Ansley Dunbar on the drums but that was a totally different version of Journey.

I saw Journey live right here in Biloxi, MS in 1980. I was on a blind/double date in 10th grade with a friend of my older sister and we went to this concert. My date was a dud but that is probably my fault because all I really wanting was to see this band in concert. I was so hyped up and crazy in love with Journey. Needless to say there was no second date, but that’s ok, I really didn’t care. We remained friends tho. I really wasn’t trying to be disrespectful of him at all, I just agreed to the date because I wanted to see Journey. Young and stupid I guess, but I knew my priorities without a doubt, lol. I'm a huge Journey fan. Since you enjoy them, check out The Eagles if you haven't already. I'm sure you will enjoy them. A few songs...Take It To The Limit..I can't Tell you Why...Peaceful Easy Feeling..Life In The Fast Lane..One of These Nights..Heartache Tonight...plus so many more. They have so many great songs. Really enjoy your reactions and how you enjoy so much great older music👏👏❣

If you notice the black guy playing the guitar is Randy Jackson who was one of the original judges on American Idol.
