Randy Jackson on bass
with a very manly bass i might add
lol, he was rockin that pink :)@@mrneal9079
Randy Jackson said Steve Perry is the best vocalist
That is what pure talent is. No auto tune. Sounds just awesome live.
One of the only bands in history that sounded better live than they did on vinyl. Steve Perry's voice, just hit a different tone live and it just 100% worked.
Journey is so amazing, steve perry is an amazing singer. Definitely check out their whole catalog he hits notes you Definitely weren't expecting him to
Neal Schon is the guitar player and he's absolutely amazing
I just watched this and was going to make the same reply to let them know until I saw yours.
Love his solo project Beyond the Thunder..he's makes the guitar sing
@@lorigurney7280 he makes it howl like a wolf, too!
Best in the world.
Amazing talents❤
Neil Schon on guitar, is one of the best ever. The brother on bass was Randy Jackson at this point in their career. Yes, american idol Randy Jackson !
And Jonathan Cain, who wrote or co-wrote most of their balads, on piano.
Yes, Neil Schon started out with Carlos Santana.
@@willardharris8152 At the time old age of 15!
Neil is a monster on that guitar. And whomever on that bass.!!!!
Journey and Steve Perry always makes me smile! Never disappoints! Love it!❤️
I was privileged enough to have seen Journey three times with this line up. They are fantastic live. My favorite band of all time.
Jealous! I went to high school with Steve Perry (he was a senior and I was a freshman - he didn't know I was alive!) Never heard him sing live.
His voice is iconic, it will forever be edged in my brain.
Steve Perry, the voice, the backbone to Journey ❤❤❤❤❤
I love this song of theirs. I am so glad I was born during the time of all this great music...and hair. Can't believe I use to have hair like Steve's back in the day.
Two other songs from this same album that I highly recommend are "Why Can't This Night Go on Forever," which ended up being quite prophetic as this Raised on Radio tour turned out to be the last tour of Journey with Steve Perry, and the other tune is "Girl Can't Help it" -- the 'official live version' where Neal Schon (guitar) and Randy Jackson (bass) have a brief, yet amazing, jam session.
What a lot of people don't know is that it was Journey who first started with the lights (strobing etc) in their live performances as well as the jumbo screens that they formed into a separate business that provided it to all other preformers like Michael Jackson etc... they were/are truly multi talented!!!
Yes mam! NFL films did their shows. 😎
YUP!!!! It started with the Frontiers tour!
They called it Nightmare Productions.
Sorry but it was Wings the 1st to do all that.
Your fun , with great reactions . Steve Perry is humble about his talent and rockstar status. His voice is legendary, he says it's ok .#peaceandstaywild
Please check out Mother Father live in Houston 1981! You will see Steve's vocal prowess! Truly Amazing!
And Deen Castronovo can sing it every bit as good, while playing the drums!
@Bryan Simmons not the same, just like Arnel is not the same! Steve Perry is why people listen to Journey not Dean or Arnel! I have yet to hear anyone comment on CZcams about Arnel or Dean singing anything! It's not the same thing!
@@karlschmitt6359 No one can replicate another person perfectly. However Deen was every bit as good as Perry.
If people only listen to Journey to hear Stave Perry, why has Arnel been with Journey LONGER than Perry was? Why are they still performing to packed houses without Steve P?
@Bryan Simmons I never said Arnel is doing a good job or Dean doesn't sing well, but I grew up with Journey from the first album to Raised On Radio and when Steve joined that was when they were at their best! I also believe Greg Rolie should've stayed because I enjoyed his voice too! The best Journey lineup, to me, is Steve Perry, Neil Schon, Steve Smith, Ross Valory, and Greg Rolie/Jonathan Cain(I like them equally)
@Bryan Simmons Dean's awesome! And love Arnel and the fact he's keeping the music alive introducing it to the younger generation..But Steve..my my my he has a soulful, unique sound that makes him stand out🥰
Asia & BJ, you’ll love their "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin' " !!!
The one Journey song everyone sleeps on is “Ask The Lonely”🔥🔥from the album Frontiers. It was not released as a single I believe because it was in a movie soundtrack Visionquest.
Love it!! I actually saw this concert and it was Awesome! I still have my tour shirt and program I bought there! Such memories!
You're the coolest chick around then sweetheart 😊❤
He's trying to convince himself that he'll be alright without her, but still holding out hope that "Someday baby, maybe your heart will be mine." When Steve is singing, "Dododododo", in the studio version, it is an instrument, but Steve sings it in the live version. I think that is what the smile between Neal and him was about.
Asia in her happy place listening to Steve Perry. Love it!
Love this song. Reminds me of my friend who passed. He loved Journey. I'll be alright without him...sometimes.
This Was The " RAISED ON RADIO " Tour , Where
Mr, Randy Jackson Of American Idol Played The
Bass Guitar The Entire Tour Which Added A Touch
Of Soul In The Mix !
love this live version so much.. Steve Perry one of a kind
Let's talk about it, I think this is Steve Perry's best studio vocal and one of the bands best songs. Shout out to Randy Jackson on bass, some of you might recognize Randy from the early years of American Idol. I feel ya dawg.
The voice. Steve Perry one of a kind. And Randy Jackson on Bass...AS AMAZING.
That is Randy Jackson of American Idol fame on bass guitar... I saw that tour in 1986. The same night the New York Mets beat the Red Sox in game 6 of the World Series. New Jersey holla!
That version of the band was 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥....
Love the guitar in this song! Awesome! Just awesome Journey! Thank you God for letting me grow up with this sound and this band!!
Love Journey, with Steve Perry. My favorite on that album is "The Girl Can't Help It".
Neal Schon was Santana’s guitar player when he was a teenager before joining journey. I was @ their “Raised on Radio” tour w/ my mother when I was a teen. I’m 46 now!!! Journey was her favorite band. SHE WAS SO IN LOVE W/STEVE PERRY! I miss you mom…😢 R.I.P. until we meet again!!!
That's Randy Jackson from American Idol playing the bass guitar and i have always believed that Steve Perry is god!
Loved this song, Journey never changed great band. Thank you. Your both wonderful.
Man Steve sounds amazing as ever and the band is amazing as well!. I have always loved this song. Love the guitar at the end❤
The brother playing bass is Randy Jackson from American Idol. Neil Schon is the bands creator lead guitars. Got his start playing with Santana.
One of my all time favorite songs, And it's fun to play.
Always love hearing Steve live but for this one, the studio version is better. The live tempo is faster. Neal Schon's guitar solo to close the song out is just AMAZING!! The studio version has a smoother slow jam vibe that's just perfect and the bass playing is more pronounced than in the live.
Some other great songs from Raised on Radio that you might like are: Why Can't This Night Go On Forever, The Eyes of a Woman, and Girl Can't Help It.
One of their best songs... killer groove
If im not mistaken, this was taken from Journey's last album together before they'd broke up in 1987. Guitarist Neal Schon and Keyboardist Jonathan Cain would go on to form the group Bad English and would have a couple of big hits including one of Asia's favorites in 'When I See You Smile'.
Right ✅ Ross Valory and Greg Rolie founded The Storm. That band and Bad English released their albums in 1991.
I have been to many many concerts in my 68 years seen Journey two times my two favorite band and best concerts is Journey and Pink Floyd. At Journey people up and dancing the whole time. Great memories.
"Foolish Heart" solo by Steve Perry is a good song.
When i listen to journey it must be the whole album this is from Raise on radio my favorite album ofall time
Neal Schon is the guitar player. He dropped out of high school to play in Santana. Randy Jackson is the bass player on this video. He was later a judge on American Idol.
I'm a 73 year old white grandma and you two ROCK!! I love how you love my favorite 80's group, keep on keepin' on!
Hello peg,
how're you doing?
Your comments caught my attention
and that is why I am reaching out to you.
Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!
It's nice meeting you here.
Maravillosa canción. Increíble y sorprendente la voz de Steve Perry!! ❤ Journey con Perry siempre fantásticos.
Plz check out Journey mother father live its truly mind blowing. Steve singing Straight From the Heart on that song because it was personal for him. It's a mind-blowing performance but it will show you exactly how talented that man is. Steve Perry is one of the greatest vocalist
Great mid 80s journey song. An earlier song lovin touchin squeezin is also great
Love you guys! Keep up the awesome work. Always a joy to watch your reactions..I think your ready for Girl can't help it.
Such a great band, Steve is so good. I think this concert was from 1986 from their Raised On Radio album. Check out their "Only The Young" hit from 1985's Vision Quest Motion Picture Soundtrack. From his solo career, check out "You Better Wait." I really like that one. Their famous guitarist, Neal Schon, after Journey split up, went to join the band Bad English with John Waite circa 1989 and did one of their hits "When I See You Smile." You might want to do Journey's "Can't Tame The Lion" from their 1996 Trial By Fire album and from their Frontiers album "Chain Reaction."
My favorite journey song
The guitar solo at the end with the keyboards makes this my favorite Journey song.
Dawg Randy Jackson on bass! Please react to Mother Father live version. Steve hits a note in that song that will freak you out! Aloha from Hawaii!
Great great song love it! Asia you have to listen to Mother Father from this 81 live concert its a Steve Perry Gem I think one of his best for sure please check it out!!
You are so precious together. I love watching you.
Hello Laurie,
how're you doing?
Your comments caught my attention
and that is why I am reaching out to you.
Your fan love for me warms my heart, Thank you!
It's nice meeting you here.
This was the pinnacle of Journey, before they broke up. Raised on Radio was an awesome album! Lots of wonderful songs. And yes, Randy Jackson from American Idol is playing bass guitar.
Journey & Steve Perry are legends! Awesome to see your first time reactions to some of the best music & bands of all time!
I love how during the song, Randy Jackson sings falsetto, then at the end he's singing bass.
Steve Perry is Journey. Steve has a great voice.
Actual talent , no autotune.
Girl can’t help it is one of my favorites!!
One of my FAVORITES!!!! Outstanding live compilation! What a BEAUTIFUL NIGHT that must have been. I saw Journey in this tour at the Cap Center Md. in 1986, my senior year of High School. The stage they had for this performance was magical. (Side-note: Fleetwood Mac used the same same light set for their tour right after) : ) Word..., you know that is Randy Jackson, right? lol.
I saw Journey on this tour during their Hawaii leg. They killed it as usual. I was initially wary of the band member changes, until I heard they had Randy Jackson on bass, he was one of my favorite bass players of the time.
Right. A lot of people think he just appeared from out of nowhere for that album. But, he’d already been around for at least a decade.
@@Fakename70 Yeah, Mystical Adventures. Jean Luc Ponty with Randy Jackson was some killer playing, I would listen to Their Stevie Wonder cover "AS", Randy sliding on the fretless. That was around 82. I like Ross, and his bass lines but I was excited to see Randy J live too..
Great Song!!!! Thanks for doing it!
I wore this song out when it came out, was around the time my first love left and took my heart with her. Took me a year to get back to me, but I was never whole.
Long time American Idol judge Randy Jackson playing bass
Great as always! One of the best groups to play, sound and preform great on stage!
Journey was so awesome, an arcade video game was made and released based on the band and their music.
Not pinball, mind you (though there's probably some Journey pinball games too), but a 1980s upright cabinet video game - joystick, buttons, the usual. It was actually pretty funny - the guys in the band were depicted as these big-headed versions of themselves, and their quests involved their instruments ; the drummer would bounce around on his drums, Steve Perry used his mic stand like a gun shooting enemies in the style of Galaga, etc... it was not around long... I wonder if any still exist, or if some collector has one somewhere.
Neal Schon is very underrated. Amazing guitarist. Played with Santana in his very early yrs
Neil is one of the BEST guitarist ever ! Not underrated !! The cleanest melodic guitarist ever. With hard rock edge . Listen to him in HSAS played with sammy hagar , unbelievable playing on that 1 album they did .
Neil Schon is the lead guitarist. Randy Jackson, of American Idol fame was the bass guitarist for a couple of tours as a session/tour guy. Journey is one of the all-time greatest bands and I loved your video reaction!
That awesome bassist in the leather pants with the pink polka dot bass is none other than Randy Jackson from American Idol!!!!
Thank You..The Video!!! Neil Schon is the guitarist and founding member of Journey. This is the era of Journey when American Idol’s RandyJackson was their bass player.
The video is a rare treat for the channel.
Patty-Neil Schon played with Santana when he was 15 yrs old. He's played with the best. He continues to be a stellar performer
Simply the best
Another fave song of mine, Randy Jackson os on base with his pink and white spots guitar. Awesome beats, etc.
Please could you react to their sing called Mother Father live 1981 escape tour - 2022 HD remastered version, awesome guitar and piano solo and of course the awesome talent of Mr Steve Perry.😎🎵🎸👌
Badass song right there. Never gets old. Thanks for sharing!
Neal (guitarist) started the band after playing with Santana touring from age 17-25 ish. Neal Schon was 15 when first playing with Santana. He is self taught and in interviews he seems to have a guitar with him.
I have to say this is one of my mostest favorite Journey song
That’s American Idol’s Randy Jackson on bass. This is the only tour i saw Journey, late 80s.
Bassist Randy Jackson's first encounter with Journey was during the "Frontiers" sessions. He played bass on the track "After The Fall." He also did sessions for Neal Schon solo albums. Following the tour, this Journey band performed on the Michael Bolton's album "The Hunger" in 1987. It features Otis Redding's "Sittin' On The Dock Of The Bay." It why you have Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain in the music video. A couple of the songs were also written by Jonathan Cain.
just incredible!
That's Randy Jackson playing bass guitar who was a judge on American Idol when it first started.
Seen them twice!!! Great band and the new lead is great as well as Steve Perry!
Check these out ..Journey on mid night special . performing... Feeling that way.. Also Steve Perry singing ..I STAND A LONE
And Journey WHEN YOU LOVE A WOMAN....
Brilliant song one of journey greatest tunes
I was waiting for one of y'all to mention that you could hear Steve Perry's voice getting a little raspy especially on the high parts and the vocal. Although we was still an awesome lead singer and a had great range than a very unique vocal it was around this area that his voice was starting to change.
Produced by Steve Perry. Written by him, Jonathan Cain and Neal Schon. Randy Jackson on bass guitar 🎸 before starring in American Idol.
At the end of the tour, Journey splintered into 1 solo Steve Perry 2 The Storm and 3 Bad English.
I grew up on Steve Perry in Journey. We had are origins in San Francisco 🌁. I was heartbroken 💔 when Journey broke up. 😖
Suggested videos 📹: 1 Steve Perry and Kenny Loggins sing Don't Fight It 2 The Storm performs I've Got a Lot to Learn about Love 3 Bad English performs Straight to Your Heart.
Ahh...musicians playing music!!! We gotta get back to this! BJ you are so right, this is probably the best rock-band ever! (or maybe you never said that, but I will 🙂) Cheers guys!
Thats Randy Jackson on Bass he was a judge on American Idol for years
Neal Schon lead guitar for Journey
Randy Jackson from American Idol is killing it on bass there.
Mother, Father, live in Houston. You got to do, still they ride live in Tokyo
Great review! I love this song. Steve Perry is awesome of course. Neal on fire with the guitar. Jon Cain with the blazing keys and back ground vocals…Randy Jackson in bass…smoking…but what about his bass singing at the end! So good!
You got that you guys are so amazing ❤️❤️
I'm pretty sure you guys still haven't done 'Mother Father' from the '81 Houston live show. MANY people have called it the greatest live performance ever, bar none. I know you're Steve Perry/Journey fans and they'll knock you over with that one.
Don’t forget about Randy Jackson. He was in journey for a brief time. He is in this video.
I just saw journey in concert last weekend it was epic
Steve is just fantastic. I love his voice.😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤
You should check out their song, "AFTER THE FALL." Watch the video, not the audio.😁😁😁
Love this video and version. Randy Jackson (American Idol judge) was great on bass.
❤❤❤
There's that Steve Perry voice again Asia😂❤ I just love it
Randy Jackson (American Idol) killing it on bass.
