- Going about how I found a nearly-identical replacement part for a 35 year old speaker system made by a small company which went out of business before the Internet.
I have a second channel:

It's always very satisfying to be able to repair and salvage things like this.
Some years ago I refurbished a UK brand called KEF Concertos that I bought in 1976. They are a beast to move but sound great.
Nice repair and amazing that you found some that fit like a glove, all those years apart. A while back I ended up winding new coils for a pair of tweeters using 0.1 mm enameled wire, a custom jig and tools. Worked perfectly after a bit of trial and error and was a fun project
A thought that crossed my mind when you were looking was that even if you found a different make it would be possible to plastic print a new surround to match the old one.
"replacing the tweeters would cost more than I paid for the entire set of speakers", the crazy world of hardware repair
It's actually surprising that good sounding HiFi has gone the way of the Dodo. All you can get is old stuff like this and much more high end that costs a fortune. Sound bars sound horrible to my ears at least. So i'll stick to the 80s and 90s stuff. It stills works, you can get it for dirt cheap and it sounds amazing, even by todays higher end standards. I even have 1973 made Heco shelf speakers that still work perfectly well without repair or maintenandce. I don't think anything sold new today will last anywhere near that long.
Looks like a paradigm good job buddy
Love your approach to audio!!
I myself never bought a working amplifier in my life, and now I have 8 (or so) lying around :). You can really get good deals on old amps/receivers, and most of the time the only thing wrong are crusty switches, dead capacitors or broken solder joints.
good job👍
I got the same speakers with the same issue and can't find the listing on ebay. Do you have a link?
What about silicon? That should hold it in place and help with vibrations
Nice work and lucky strike finding these replacements. However, should you ever be in a similar situation, there are automotive glues that are black and "rubbery" that should do just nicely. Don't know about your speakers, but being from Toronto I owned StudioLAB reference speakers that were absolutely amazing. Too bad that I gave them up - by mistake (don't ask but its one of those regrets that stays with you).
Nice!
There is one thing I'm gonna ask, why is there a PC on a Kirkland popcorn box blocking the radiation holes to that amp so it can't cool? Just a question.
And why the hell do you use a server board for your HTPC? :D
isn't woofer suspension glue basically model glue, it scrapes off, so semi permanent enough.
коробка закрыла вентиляционные отверстия на усилителе - это не очень хорошо. в остальном - хорошая работа.
They don't build things like they used to when it comes to audio!
it was easier to contact seller about details. Lol, counting pixels .
