Well this was My first MVC. When I played the other versions, I was like "Why can't Ryu turn red?" and stuff like that. The MVC1 PS1 ver. is one of the many reasons as to way I'm a fighting game fan nowadays!

    • @sodaboy581

Ryu can turn red in the other MVC versions. Just HCB+MP with 1 level.

Also, there was the famed "Cross Over" mode, which essentially *was* the tag version of the game, but only as a mirror match (due to PS1's memory limitations)... but man, I don't think I'll ever be as happy about a fighting game as I was back then.

    • @ChromaLuke

Same here. This game was my first ever exposure to the whole MvC series AND my first ever fighting game. I had lots of fun playing this game to hell and back on my PS1 to the point the CD snapped in half one day. Literally took me until 3 years ago to learn that MvC1 had tag team. I was mind-blown.
At least you can play as Onslaught in the PS1 version unlike the other versions.

    • @Sbeas19
      @Sbeas19 Před 2 lety +3

Same here too. Arcades weren't much of a thing here. Yeah there were a few arcade machines here and there across many places but never a dedicated place with tons and tons of cabinets, the closest were the Malls with their place near the cinemas and there were some random cabinets but you would never see something like any fighting games (and if they were, they werent there for longer cuz reasons). Back to the other tangent, so I was mostly a person who knew certain versions of fighting games on their console ports of the most popular consoles at the time in my country like the snes or ps1 during the 90s.

I was thinking about MSH vs SF when Max mentioned it and that got me thinking about how X-Men vs SF on PS1 is. I am now curious if they did this with the PS1 version or if they played it somewhat straight. People are too worried about games being arcade perfect to enjoy alternate versions of things.

I still have Marvel vs Capcom on the Playsation, but I never played the EX version. So, it’s not a port after all. It was actually a game? That is so cool! You rock, Max!!😊👊🏾

Dude Max I am so glad you talked about this. You don’t even know how giddy I got that you covered this. As a kid I was an arcade rat and I alays played the arcade version. I never had access to a Dreamcast then though. I only had a PS1. This version was the one I had. I knew it was completely different and I encouraged people to play the PS1 port. It was like you said though, no one took me seriously and just dismissed the PS1 version. Well I kept playing the PS1 version because I knew the truth. Finally years later, one of my good friends was like “fine let’s play the PS1 port so I can stop hearing how much you like this version”. Within the first round he was like “OMG you were right all these years”. I said “I told you bro!”. He even said that it feels like MvC2! I said yup it’s basically the ground work for it. We still go back to it now and again to this day!
Great work bro! Spread the word of MVC1’s PS1 brilliance! :)

we used to change the vs settings to infinite supers, and just go crazy. there'd be so much happening the game would go into slow motion during supers. we'd dhc into supers repeatedly non stop. it was insane! the ps1 version still has its perks.

I was surprised to find that there are tag team mechanics on the arcade and dreamcast versions.
A final version of MvsC1 using all the improvements of the ps1 version plus the tag system of the other versions would be perfect.

Got this on my phone. Thanks emmulation. Plus the best thing about this game is the secret characters you get in a specific character ending (Megaman = Roll AND A new Megaman copied ability Hulk = Orange Hulk Any = Final boss War Machine = Golden War Machine and 1 more :))
This game has high replay availability. Good defense system with the Counter/Push/Patner Counter.
P.S:Whoever mains Roll here can you please give some tips cause holy heck is she a glass Canon.
Edit:Beating the final stage where you were meant to be a boss is made to be impossible BECAUSE it is the only stage where as the Final boss you get to control his FINAL FORM.

also, when ever you activated the "cross counter" (?) when both team mates come out and attack, both your characters have unlimited supers instead of only the main character (as a default setting with no adjustments). so you'd just surround the opponent and spam double supers from both sides etc. combine that with unlimited meter. its was just insanity. fun times.
