That 16 hour workshift is making me so mad. In my country it is illegal to force workers to work longer then their designed shifts. You can ask them, but if they say no, you cannot legally fire them or put any consequences on them.
But for some reasons it still happens a lot, especially with immigrants who have zero hour contracts.
Due to scheduling if you want a day off one other person has to work those 8 hours for you and in turn you either work 16, sleep for 8 then work 8 more hours or you call in sick the following day and someone else picks up your 8 hour day off. I know they have to eat breakfast but I can’t imagine myself applying for or staying at a job that schedules all employees 8 hour shifts, 7 days a week with sick days being taken from your vacation days, for minimum pay. Fast food restaurants have better employment incentives for hiring and working conditions than that.
Here you can get forced to work a extra shift, but then you get double pay. And you have to have 2 days off for every 5 days work, I think. (But you can work for 10 if you get at least 3 days off in a row or something like that.)
But 7 days a week every week? That's illegal af.
(Not to mention we stay home if we are sick 2 days in a year or 20 days in a year, plus 4 weeks vacation.)
No that happens to anyone I worked on jobs that said they did not want to here that they could not work,not only me everyone in the building, my daughter has worked up to 37 hours at a time,if no one their to cover the shifts then you can't leave.
No we worked 7days a week for over 5years never had a day off in a factory I did not mind it because made alot of money 76 to 88 hours a week til my husband said if you work another weekend then I am filing for a divorce on Monday he said fined another job so that's what I did we where married for 33 years then but I hot another job we still married 50 years now.
When we have school principals saying we need to teach opposing views of the Holocaust we have a HUGE PROBLEM!!!!!
That we do. It's ok to force opinions as long as the correct people get to choose them. If those other people have a differing opinion say anything then they have no worth or use anymore. Sounds like a very progressive idea. Shut down anyone who doesn't know that you're right and publically shame them with incessant whining.

Textbook choices teach and have formed public social opinion for ventures, Initiated from elementary to higher educational levels throughout society. Mass media influences much of public opinion, sadly

You know, ive been to two concentration camps before (Dachau, Buchenwald)... and seeing the crematorium among other things makes it quite difficult to see the opposing point of view on the Holocaust

My dad is a Detroit firefighter, and he got vaccinated as soon as he could. My ex was a firefighter, and she didn't want to get vaccinated. My major is Microbiology, so I have learned a lot about viruses and vaccines, especially because of the current events.

I quit Coca Cola because my union brother told me I was forced to work seven days a week. And I was threatened by another mixer butcher and nobody did anything about it. Horrid conditioning of their workers due to overwork and playing people off on each other by mid and upper management. Everyone there hates each other. Sad. I thought it was going to be a coke and a smile, I was wrong.

We know that there are certain parts of the police that has right-wing racist tendencies and we are trying to root them out. Maybe they are leaving voluntarily now. I say goodridance. Police officers that think they are above the law and are infected by right-wing thought bubbles are probably the police officers you want to get rid off.

The system needs to be dismantled. (It literally has to be dismantled before anyone can control them. Police unions, local laws and supreme court rulings protect them and define their purpose)
A lot of my conservative friends and relatives say oh it’s just a few bad apples in the police and the Catholic priests. I say it’s not a few bad apples it’s systemic and it starts at the top and officers that need the job are not going to challenge his supervisor. It happens all the time in private companies. Hello Exxon. One question who is “we” in your reply. Who is trying to fix it are you a cop? Just curious.

I’m confused. CRT fits the Texas law that requires opposing “points of view.” (P.S. facts are not opinions. Opinions are not facts). Fact: slavery was brutal. The Holocaust was brutal. The audio was one school discussing how to comply with the law to avoid legal action because that law was purposefully vague and broad to limit teaching actual history of racism and segregation and other topics that show negative things in our country's history.

This audio is indeed them talking and it is going over this law but, the law was for Critical Race Theory and all this more than 2 genders nonsense. Hence the "Contemporary" part.
The administrator was intentionally using this law to talk about slavery and holocaust, though neither is in the bill or in the directions to the school boards.
I know. We went to our school board after hearing about this. We wanted to squash this B.S. and our school administrators kindly talked us down and let us know the shenanigans this "Troubled" district was trying to pull.
Looks like that administrator got their wish. Makes me wonder why that person moved here in the first place.

I really don’t think they teach CERT in the public schools certainly not elementary middle and high school. I was not exposed to critical theory regarding gender until the university level upper level classes at University eye can’t believe that the white TX legislators even know what critical theory is, they don’t even know American history, Most of them won’t read and probably few of them attended University and certainly didn’t take critical theory classes.

Well it’s tough to keep up with all of the issues in Texas!
As a person who loves history it is important to teach the perspectives of groups like the nazi’s but its important to let the kids know that these views are extremely wrong. That being said this law obviously is just for pettiness and shouldn’t be a law

Yes, events should just be laid out to children in a simple manner. We don't need to load this information with fear. The people who are responsible for this need to be held to account.

To be fair, teaching people about different opinions on the Holocaust would be a great opportunity to teach students how to apply critical thinking in order to guard themselves against the irrational delusions underpinning fascist rhetoric and conspiracy theory.
Well you have a point but I think teaching opposing views on something like the Holocaust should probably be reserved for some college classes. I'm with u on advocating critical thinking, but I think teaching it with that specific way could have negative consequences in kids. Just my two cents.

If you have a hard time teaching opposing views of the Holocaust, then what is your problem with teaching about CRT? Fact is, slavery was much worse and American history is worse than that. Don't believe me? Learn about the father of Gynecology in America, Learn about what happened to Native Americans, and to Japanese in America and ADD that to what was/is happening in America to minorities.
You can teach critical thinking and show the two sides of a historical event without banning subjects or dealing in wrong views that will excuse perpetrators of crimes agains humanity.

I don't get it either. It's too hot and racist there. I was born and raised in Texas. I left two weeks after I turned 18 and have never looked back. My entire family still live there. I have family in Amarillo, Lubbock, Dallas, Galveston and Austin. Even with all the coverage and comedians joking about it it's still so much worse than that. It's worse than anyone can imagine.
