  • I updated my bathtub and shower surround and put a new moen posi temp manifold in. the water is not marked and I did not know that the hot was on the right and the cold was on the left when installed. this is how to fix if that's happens to you.

    Nice video! As you noted,, if you have faucets back to back (sharing the wall) you need to install one of the valves upside down. Another tip: place a face towel over your drain so screws etc. don't accidentally fall into the drain.

    Hi. Thanks for staring this video. I have the hot - cold water issue too.
    For clarification the cartilage goes in upside down.
    And the notched side (tab side) of the stem should remain upright.
    The white & black valves should be set to OFF position
    Thanks

    • @theshineing
      @theshineing  Před 3 lety +1

      It's probably just corroded. Spray it with WD-40 or something similar. To get mine loose I had to pry the pliers against the surround. You could also put a washer and the bolt in and use that to pry against your surround. Hopefully this helps you.

      Audrey , the best option would be to buy a puller at home depot or Lowes it's so easy to pull it out with the cartridge puller. I had mine stucked as well, but it was so easy to break it loose with the puller...Good luck

    What would a plumber charge for this? I don’t won’t to do it. Don’t want to run into problems I can’t fix. The guy that put it in years ago did it wrong and told my mom the cold and hot were in the opposite direction. Well because of this you get only hot or cold water no in between. Why he didn’t just fix it. I don’t know.

    • @theshineing

      Most plumbers have $100 minimum. You really shouldn't be over 200 though.

      as a plumber, due to the risk of a cartridge being stuck do to calcium, we would charge around $200. if it came out easily enough, I would personally charge $149.
      Plumber's charge over $300-$600 an hour. We're currently around $364 an hour, so a job taking 30-60 minutes would easily be a $225 charge or more.

    • @Listen2me400
      @Listen2me400 Před 2 lety +1

      @@adamcarter1266 Good news I got it done for $147.00, which is what they charge per hour. Within the hour I got a leak fixed under the kitchen sink and the washing machine hot and cold valves (not sure if that’s what you call them) changed because we were getting a new one, so I think it was a good deal. He also noticed that the water wasn’t draining properly when fixing the problem, that the hook or something had fallen (where the tub’s stopper is) so he took the time to fish it up and put it back in place.

    • @theshineing

      Yes

    • @TedZarcone
      @TedZarcone Před 2 lety

      You don't have to turn off the main water if you have valves that you can turn off at the shower one for hot, and another one for cold. Normally there is an access panel outside the bathroom directly behind the tub/shower that has the on/off valves. If you can't locate these or you do not have them then yes the main cut off would be the next step to turn off.
