Not really trying to start anything but Peter David's Hulk > Claremont's X-Men! I love both but David's Hulk solidified Hulk as my favorite comic character. I was always going to buy this but for me, the Tempus Fugit story is the highlight of this book. Fantastic story telling. While I'm here, best wishes to Peter David, I hope he is able to fully recover!
Not sure if you know but Hulk The End was first published as a 10 page prose story in 1998. Peter David edited a collection of 16 short stories written by various writers called “The Ultimate Hulk”. He wrote a story called The Last Titan and the story had an illustration by George Pérez. Worth checking out if you can find it.
Great overview bro ! So hype to have this in the collection is exciting. I might be in trouble for saying this but I loveeeeee BRUCE JONES run on Hulk. One of my most wanted omni's.
These are the best reviews. Thoughtful, full of insight and really those that are needed to purchase the title without having much knowledge of the series. Well done, @nearmintcondition. Great job!
Wow! What a journey it has been! My first omnibus ever was Volume One. I bought it back in the Fall of 2019, and when Peter David came out last year to Amazing Comic Con, Las Vegas, I had him sign it. Four volumes later and we are looking at a fifth! I love it! It's also super cool that the "What If...?" issue is collected, as well. It's one of my favorite "What If.." stories... Great times! Thanks, Omar!
I’ll always love Hulk: The End. Such an amazing and tragic Hulk story. I hope we’ll get a Bill Mantlo omnibus one day as his run deserves WAAAAAAYYYYYY more love and appreciation.
@@wholesomecomment45 I read Hulk: Future Imperfect without having read any of David's original run on Incredible Hulk, and it made almost perfect sense to me - it's a very self contained story, in the vein of something like X-Men's Days of Future Past or Wolverine's Old Man Logan storylines. I believe everything else in the Maestro omni was written after his Hulk run had ended, and most of the call backs will be to Future Imperfect itself. There are a few elements of the three most recent miniseries that call back to other parts of his Hulk run (particularly a group called the Pantheon), but I think you should still be able to get by.
@@wholesomecomment45 idt so, even tho it adds context to side stories. Maestro first appears in vol 2, but he makes his first real appearance vol 3 w Future Imperfect. That is mandatory reading for Maestro.
@@wholesomecomment45 The Maestro omnibus includes the most crucial issues from the the Hulk omnibuses ( _Future Imperfect_ #1-2 and _Incredible Hulk_ #460-461), so you can probably follow it without having read all of David's run, but I'm not an expert on the material.
I have volume 1-3. I didn’t get 4 since the review didn’t appeal to me. Most of volume 2 was from my childhood and I read some of those. I am going to go back and read vol 1-3. I don’t know if I’ll get 5.
Thanks for doing a little reading order with these Hulk collected editions. I believe I am going to pass on this one. It looks real good, but my space is getting limited as well as my wallet. I believe I will hold out for more exciting omnis like Spiderman 2099 (SO EXCITED!!!!)
Dangnabit seeing those Incredible Hulks: World War Hulks and fall of the hulks reminded me that I was still missing those from my collection....sigh, so begins the search.🙄 Also excellent vid as usual Mr Omar, wont be picking this up but always enjoy the vids
Can't wait till payday so I can order this :) great overview as always man. I do have a question for ya. Are you going to Hero's Con in Charlotte this year? just wondering. would love the chance to meet you in person
Looking forward to next year as well then :) Japaaaaan....sorry you have me do that everytime i hear japan now haha. enjoy that trip @@NearMintCondition
I would love to see an updated video of all x books omnibus reading order. If we put wolverine, new mutants and Excalibur with the uncanny x-men omnibuses. Where do they fit it?
If I leave it at the first 4 books, will it feel like a complete story? This book looks like it might feel like one of those bonus discs full of b sides that come with classic album reissues. Is it essential?
I don't think any of material in this omni is in Epic Collection format at the moment. It consists of various one-shots, series, and mini-series that span over 20 years, so are likely to be in countless different "Hulk Modern Era Epics" once that line gets started.
Those are Incredible Hulks: Fall of the Hulks, and Incredible Hulks: World War Hulks OHC that collect the Incredible Hulks issues as well as the other mini series that support and go in and out of Loebs Hulk run mostly following a “hulk less” Banner and Skaar. Much thicker then normal HCs of the same title, long OOP, and pretty pricey now.
@@diegobelaunde4965 correct. This is World War Hulks with an ending s. It was the crossover arc between Loebs Hulk and Paks Incredible Hulks. There is a Hulk by Loeb Omnibus too but that Omnibus does not include the content from the 2 OHCs. Also remember there are HCs of the same title but far thinner and only collect the Incredible Hulks issues whereas the OHCs that were pictured include all the minis and crossover content that was not in the Hulk by Loeb Omnibus and the Incredible Hulks issues.
I have nowhere to post this, so I will do it here. Where the hell is the rest of Peter David's Supergirl Run? Vol 4 Really that is it? WTF DC... now Back to your regularly scheduled review
I'm just waiting on another reprint of Peter David's Hulk Omnibus vol. 1. That book sold out fast.
I got vol 1 3 weeks ago on ebay for $85.00
Really hope they'll release the Bruce Jones run at some point.
A bill mantlo run, a a bruce jones run and a greg pak run.

This one wasn't in my list but after seeing the overview I think I'll buy it. I like the variety of stories and the art looks great.
Showing where it reads chronologically is a huge help!
It's a Peter David Omnibus so it's a must buy for me!
I hope he gets some royalties off these, I know he could use them at the moment
Is the Maestro omnibus part of this storyline? If so, 6 omnibuses for 1 run is insane
(Conan entered the chat)
Yes. Maestro spins out of Peter David's Hulk.
@@mfolwell would I need to read the entire run before maestro?

Definitely picking this one up when it goes on sale. Love the review as always Omar 🙂
Absolutely insane PAD’s entire run (minus the recent Joe Fixit mini) is collected in 5 huge omnis and they’ve all come out in fairly quick succession.
omg I had no idea the ART was so good!
SO AWESOME!!!! FIVE VOLUMES!!!! WOW!!!! Thanks for the video Omar!

Given this is the smallest volume, I'm pretty disappointed they didn't wait a few months to include the Fixit miniseries you mentioned 😕
Woot 2 new omnibus videos.
I am running out of room for the bookshelf though.
Hoping they do another reprint of Vol. 1 Omnibus at some point.

I really want silver age Stan Lee Jack Kirby Hulk vol 2 to come out already. I wish we had silver age Ant Man omni!
I have vol.1-4,and I am tempted by this.I just don't know.Dont know if I can justify it.Some of it looks great,I will say.
I only have 1 and 2....3 and 4 look kinda like overdrawn 90s art
Nice!! I can’t wait to get my copy!!
I know marvel probably couldn't put this book in here, but I would have like to see "Hulk Pitt" in here to make it more complete.
Marvel: "where should we put 'the end'?
I know! How about the beginning?"
Hulk: The End was originally a short prose story written by Peter David.

Thanks for the review. I will take your recommendation on the dark horror and buy this book.

Same, Wish I liked this run as much as others do😅
Where is that Bruce Jones omnibus?
Come on! I want Bruce Jones Hulk omni. Don't make me spend money on TPBs 😎
Imagine Marvel Studios getting the Hulk rights back and making a Hulk rated R movie adaption of Hulk the End 🤔
I see we don’t get red hulk in this.
Does any of the omnibus do the red hulk story line? Or we’re still waiting on that?
