    I just got the samsung odyssey g85sb on sale for $899 and it was manufactured in August 2023. It has work flawlessly. And I have not experienced any of the issues people were reporting when the panel first came out so I don't know about a refresh but perhaps they worked out the bugs. Anywho I couldn't be more happier with my purchase.

    IM JUST NOW SEEING THIS! i thought you would tag me on Twitter! I was the one who sent you all this information and the images of their booths! Thanks for helping to make it clearer. Was hoping you had a Samsung representative to get official clarity on this all. Im still fingers crossed that it will have G-Sync, as the Asus AQDM was awful and i had to return it, as it did not work with G--sync, which apparently ive learned is a issue with OLED in general for some reason? eitherway thanks for the investigating !

  • @DisplayReality
    @DisplayReality Před 11 měsíci +4

    I Love your channel & what you do but: The video in question shown here of the v2 was made 4-5 months ago. Speculation due to a 2-3 month window of Display specifications info at that time due to the new rating date 4/20/23 on G8 oled but was already released on korea in sept 2022. (That is not speculation or a supposing idea) But as the Neo G9 57" was a gamescom priority its safe to say v2 is slated for early next yr. Immanent release speculation? Maybe 5 months ago but not now. To have this topic (lets say debunked) in Sept (over 4 months later) is kind of... idk.
    Lets all hope we can all find that perfect monitor in the Golden age of QD OLED monitors incoming wave. Yes with v2 tech and yes with 240hz.

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi Viktor. Thanks, and i enjoyed your videos too :)
      I realise the video in question was a few months old, but the rumour seems to be resurfacing again at the moment, probably as we've reached that "2 - 3 months" period after the original Displayspecifications.com news piece and people are therefore expecting a monitor to be released. People also seem to be wondering why nothing has been formally announced or showcased at Gamescom or IFA (by Samsung Electronics), although there was promotion of the 34" QD-OLED panels (including the misinterpreted G-sync Ultimate badge) by Samsung Display at other events recently like K-Display and SID. This was the first time I'd really looked in to the matter, perhaps it is late, but people are still referring back to your older videos and raising the questions online too, so it's obviously still a topic people are interested in :)
      Like you say, hopefully we can get some nice new gen 2 QD-OLED panels soon, but I wouldn't expect any new 34" models until late Q1/early Q2 next year at best, and probably from other display manuf first before Samsung Electronics bring out a new one

    • @arthur78
      @arthur78 Před 11 měsíci

      Do you own the OLED G9? Do you know if there's a reliable and easy way to play games in 21:9 on it? I tried looking into this and from what I gathered it doesn't have a 21:9 mode and making it work requires Windows registery edits and whatnot, which I find very off-putting. I was hoping maybe Samsung could add that mode via firmware update, since the Neo G9 57" has it.

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @arthur78 you should be able to create a custom windows resolution easily enough using something like CRU and you’d probably need to use graphics card scaling to put borders in the appropriate places, but that should be doable. I can’t recall which modes the screen supported itself tbh

    • @arthur78
      @arthur78 Před 11 měsíci

      @@tftcentral I've seen plenty of reddit posts of users unable to do it, at least not at 240Hz or without reducing chroma subsampling or another compromise. It might be due to Display Stream Compression issues with Nvidia drivers. Same with the Neo G9 and G9 before it.

    so the g8 been out about 6 months and you think they might be about to replace it ?
    sound a bit stupid to me , a lot of people will be unhappy thats and i think people
    will loose faith in the brand , i think at lease they will run the current model for a year
    before replace ?
    maybe bring a new model might be a better idea than replacing a model thats only
    been out about 10 minutes ............
    i think the g8 is plenty bright enough and i use saphire 7900 xtx nitro
    so dont need nvidea ........................
    just wish they would bring out a firmware to get rid of the pop up menu every time
    you turn on , menu are sluggish but dont use them anyway ..

    Do you think the launch of the ROG Swift OLED PG49WCD, being a gen 2 qdOLED, can be an indicator for more gen2 monitors? It is very interesting to see that we only have these 49inch super ultrawides with newer QDoled panels (maybe more lucrative), instead of the very popular 34inch offerings out there. There is of course an argument to be made regarding the lifespan of these 34inch monitors, they are not 'old' monitors, so why replace them when they can and are still making money

    • @tftcentral
      @tftcentral  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Definitely all new QD-OLED monitors based on newer panels should be gen 2 QD-OLED. The announced 32" models will all be gen 2 panels. Samsung do have plans for an updated 34" ultrawide panel next year as covered in the video when looking at the roadmap dates
