  • The Book Of Boba Fett, Disney’s newest Star Wars creation is all types of wrong from start to finish. Lucasfilm has killed the hunter and replaced him with a crime lord who rules over a gang of one. Boba Fett, the bounty hunter that said little and always stayed hidden no longer exists.

Hopefully they make him ruthless in season 2, change his costume to more accurate, make him wear the mask more, slim him up, show him using his jet pack, blaster, and gadgets how he should, and hopefully they change that he had a plan all along, and he's always been this ruthless bounty hunter...

This 'see how original Disney is' shtick is getting tiresome.
I remember when I first heard they were making a sequel trilogy, the first thing I said was "Who's gonna play Kyle Katarn?" I was jacked to see Kyle, Jan Ors, Mara Jade, the Solo twins ... then I heard the original cast (all pushing 70 or older) were returning. That's when I had a bad feeling. And then Lucasfilm just tossed all the novels, comics, and games out of canon like trash.
Seeing any part of the EU adapted to film in any way should be awesome, should be what we wanted, especially AFTER KK pretended it didn't exist at all. I hate most of what Disney has done with Star Wars ('Solo' was the absolute worst, and that's saying a lot). But I'm not down for bashing a company for any made up reason just because it's in fashion to hate on them. The krayt dragon episode was one of the better ones, and that scene was way better than what we got in 'KOTOR' (I played that game thru 3 times and barely remember the krayt dragon). The krayt dragon battle on 'Mando' was a rare win, let's take our W's where we can get them.

I noticed that Boba has become really naive and ignorant about the world. For example he wants to rule a crime planet not with fear but with respect and Fennec rightfully said that FEAR was the only good way to rule these people and she was correct. His approach about everything reminded me of those RPG games where you can make morally good decisions everytime and things will go your way no matter what. Basically he went for the Paragon path in a world filled with treason, corruption and violence. Realistically he would have been done for a long time ago.
Also that teen gang didn't sit with me right. They looked like they belonged in another sci-fi world, not Star Wars. Cyberpunk yes, but Star Wars no. That speeder chase was awful as well.
Boba is really incompetent as well for some reason. First, why did he approach the Sarlacc so closely? What did he expect to find? His armor lying just there waiting for him? If he lost it to the Sarlacc it would be in it's stomach, not outside where the mouth is... And again Fennec proved more competent than Boba because while he struggled like an idiot with the controls against the grip of the Sarlacc in a stalemate, she actually knew his ship better and made the smart move to feed it a seismic charge. Why didn't he think of that???
And why the hell he had a lot of money in his palace but made the"not having people to fight for him" an issue?
Geez i wonder how would a guy with a lot of money find muscle in a planet filled with mercenaries and gangs? I guess a BOUNTY HUNTER wouldn't have any idea how to fix this "problem".
And again Fennec said the obvious - oh i don't know, maybe HIRE people?

The biggest issue I have with this series so far is that the episode quality swings from good to terrible so wildly between episodes that each week I have no idea what to expect.
Boba also needs to quit letting people blatantly disrespect him to his face so much. OT boba was a cold, calculating, ruthlessly efficient killer that wouldn't hesitate to blast a hole in your chest if you got in his way. He needs to have a line that people don't cross. Instead of just sitting there taking it.
It's also a big red flag that the best episode so far didn't have boba in it at all. If this show has to rely on characters from other shows to keep it afloat, it won't survive past the first season.

Totally agree - taking off his helmet and making him the "hero" is just not the right path. Bounty Hunters are rogues, out for themselves, out for the next bounty. Would love to have seen him battling for his quarry against the likes of Dengar and Bossk and having the dogfighting be part of it. Him taking over for Jabba just doesn't feel right at all for his character. He knew he was smarter than those leaders and profited greatly off of them and their needs - he never needed to be one. If anything, his goal should be getting back those who put him in the Sarlaac - namely Luke and Han. Disney knew all this and knew it wouldn't end well for Boba and that they'd have to bring back Lucas' heroes who they try to avoid at all costs. Super lame...

    • @dylanfarnum4121
      @dylanfarnum4121 Před 2 lety +13

Actually I think they just decided to make him replace Jabba because 1. The concept of him sitting on the throne looked cool, and 2. They had basically given the bounty hunter role to Mandalorian. If Boba continued to be a bounty hunter they would have 2 shows about the same thing featuring identical protagonists. Anyway, something you said which is very perceptive is your first sentence. The reason Boba was so cool is that he was essentially a background character, so he could do whatever he wanted. Now, as the protagonist, the story arc has to follow specific formulas, he's not even an anti hero, he is a good guy who has to get beat up a lot so that there is a pay off when he finally wins. Its basic and boring and formulaic. I hate that this show is so disappointing, I really wanted it to be good, but I saw that the premise was ridiculous a mile away. The trailer for the show showed him killing bib fortuna and sitting down on the throne, and I immediately thought "ok, what now? Hes just going to sit there and replace jabba?"

@@hmrdev-billnye8166 There was lots of material for Boba in the EU, not to mention he had quite a lot more Screentime in Clone Wars (granted, as KID version Boba, but that still is the same character), Boba in Mandalorian was also absolutely brutal and ruthless, worked perfectly fine (despite some nitpicks with plot devices like the Jetpack or that boulder in that episode, the action scenes were awesome and bad ass and 4 episodes in into Book of Boba, i don't think he has even used his Blaster yet. There are always only glimpses... like when he blew up the Bikers with Slave 1.) ...i don't have a problem with the Story or the plot... but the action scenes always feel lousy in some way. We do have an established Sandbox with Characters and Toys, when the audience can think of 3 tools Boba can use on his Armor that will get him out of a action sequence easily ...and they don't use that, then that looks bad. If you ignore those expectations then those are fine choreographed action scenes with maybe a bit bad direction and weak sauce CGI and sound FX here and there.
It is the same problem as with Iron Man 3, if you don't give the Hero strong enough enemies to fight, you need to dumb down the Hero's ability so the action sequence isn't over in 2 seconds. Like, do you seriously believe these guys throwing sticks and exploding would be a problem if Iron Man just hovered a few meters more in the air and rained a barage of Repulsor blasts down on them? ...pfff ...nah he must go in punching distance all the time and his Armors miraculously keep falling apart while it could take a Tank Shell in IM1.
That didn't make it a bad movie, but my god the action scenes sucked!
And it is the same here, Boba just isn't allowed to use all his toys and go full ham or the action scenes with those weakling enemies wouldn't last very long.
And it is obvious what they are doing, they do the whole "rule with respect thing", Fennec told him "you're time with the Tuskens made you weak", the Water shop guy told him "Nobody respects you"...
What he is trying is not working, he will absolutely flip his shit near the final big battle and then go full ham, ride that Rancor through town, bite some Cat fish people heads off and THEN everybody else will respect him.
The real problem here is that the show is terribly paced with those back and forth flashbacks all the time, just do it chronologically, it is serialized so every episode is just a part of the story and doesn't feel like it has a start, middle and end, like every episode of Mando did!!! (which is why it was awesome start to finish).
And we get a full week to piss and moan about every little "Nitpick" and inconsistency that no one would give a flying fuck about if it was just dumped all at once for binge watching.

-The huts have to come to him to threaten him, a go nowhere conversation.
-the people have to come to him to plea to stop shitty cyberpunk gangs operating on his territory. He pays quarter what they owe then offers them a job. In an attempt to make him look “diplomatic” he’s just pissing on his own people he’s meant to be taking protection money for
-The Wookiee krrsantan has to show up to his place to attack him. He gets beat up and his goon squad have to protect him
-it’s Fennec who suggests to him to get more than 8 dudes to run a crime syndicate.
Since becoming a crime lord he’s a lazy fuck of a non character. With Fennec and Garda fwip having to lecture and brow beat this legendary bounty Hunter into doing anything.
