- The set-up: On February 11, 2001, the NBA's Western Conference All-Stars led the East 106-105 with 1:18 remaining in the fourth quarter. What followed: A Kobe Bryant/Stephen Marbury shootout over the game's final 60 seconds. Marbury's second 3-pointer put the East ahead for good, capping a 21-point fourth quarter comeback. Marbury finished with 12 points in all. Bryant countered with 19. Allen Iverson, who scored 25 points on 9-of-21 shooting, earned All-Star MVP honors.

They played this hard for nothing other than bragging rights and the love for the game. Absolutely miss this competitive all-star games.
I was thinking the same thing!
The MLB one is slowly getting that way too. It's sad how SOFT our competitive sports are getting in the biggest stage
What you’ll NEVER hear in an all star game today “they have a foul to give” lol
It's honestly sad
Insane
That New Jersey Marbury was something special.
I’m so so glad that I grew up during this era of NBA. I got to see a young Kobe, a young KG, young Duncan, young A.I., Vince Carter, etc...... do you understand the magnitude of watching these H.O.Fers in their youth? It was such a blessing and time has made that even more definitive.....
Yes. And its incredible that Jordan in 98 was better than all of them. But the young fans today dont see it
@@stevencoardvenice You sir, are correct about that.
We have lonzo ball dude
Ok what about the best period of basketball,88 until 98?!!that was my childhood!only legends in every team,Seattle with Gary Payton and Shawn kemp,Regie Miller Indiana,Hakeem with the rockets,Stockton and malon with Utah, barckley kevin Johnson with the suns,New York with starks Patrick, the bulls of course ,I mean we where really spoiled as kids ..
Watching this after 2023 all star…
Came back after the 2024 all star game shoot around
Stephan and Allen wow just wow ,with all the bigs on a overrated kobe😂 shot out to Mutumbo
Came back after the shoot around, and the game🤣😞🤬 wtf
That was the worst all-star game in NBA history 🧐
And that is the last time Kobe pass up the game winning shot :)
vayahoo exactly
🤣🤣🤣🤣 word
Dude it was only an all star game relax
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
He was about to miss anyways
I see nothing but legends
Starbury was the Man that won the Game for the East! Coney Island finest!!!💪🏿
Iverson got them to that point. Gladwyne in the house!
You must not have watched the game.
AI put the East on his back during their 21 down comeback, with 8m left in the 4th.
That was some legendary sh*t, my guy. Everyone that watched that game agrees that AI won it.
@Fermion. Nah just u and that one person who liked your statement. Steph hit the last 2 shots to give them the lead and he made Kobe pass to Duncan to end the game. U just glazing Iverson lil mama it's OK 😂
Kobe owns all of them combined so it really don't matter. Duncan should have never been in an all star game to begin with.
The most talented era to me. NBA at it's peak.
I agree the narrative that today's players are always more skilled and athletic to me sounds ridiculous. It's been this many years and I haven't seen anyone more athletic than Shawn Kemp or Vince Carter. The only thing I really think is more skilled these days is just dribbling skills.
@@joshuafult84for real y’all were lucky I will happen trade. The league was soo good and people wanted to play
Im here to remind myself how amazing Allstar games used to be.. Its a pickup game for the greatest hoopers in the World. This is where they test the competition. So sad we will never witness this kind of Allstar anymore.
And it keeps on getting worse, like Sunday night
Still to this day I think about this Allstars Game!!! Kobe and TMac was going at each other in that 3rd quarter!! StarBury close it out with those two 3s... Nostalgia on a 100!!
Classic 1996 draft class special
Best class ever
had to refresh my eyes after tonight
This is why kobe doesn't pass in the clutch
He passed because he would have gotten blocked.
@@earlem9771 if he wanted to score he would've pumpfaked
It's why Jordan and LeBron on different levels than kobe
@@bggraham83 Stop it Jordan yes,but LeBron,no way.Jordan, and Kobe have Something LeBron, don't have, and would never have and that's that Killer in them.
mutombo wss there. He didn't want it blocked and Vince took out Duncan. 👍🏽
Kobe was getting doubled in a all star game 😂
We all here after the game..W fans
Loved when the teams would just wear their regular uniforms like they have always done in the MLB All-Star Game
I was watching 2024 all star game live, but all of the sudden, I just wanted to watch THE BEST all star game ever again!
Stephon Marbury...killed in the NBA AND China. Enjoy your careers and retirement in China Steph! Never forgot you bro. Want that re-release of those Steph 2's bruh!!!
WizManBallin Brought a year to my eye that someone else shared the same opinion, Marbury had PGs shook
thought you meant curry in the end at first lmao
Him and iverson took over the game at the end.. I always wanted the east to win
I need me the black, orange and blue Starbury 2s also
I think he is like Ja morat but better shooting, skill and ability)
Came here after the 2023 joke of an all star game. Miss those players, play with some pride and passion!
Haha just came here after the 2024… It just keeps getting worse :/
You know you the goat when they double team and play defense on you in the all star game
This type of hard nosed play was customary for the All Star games back in the days. This may have been the last All Star game that mattered. Most everything afterwards was just a glorified streetball tournament..
Stephon Marbury is underrated
Best all star game ever period
Who else came here after watching the 2021 NBA All Star game ?
I'm smiling from ear to ear watching this video.. (sigh) the good ol dayz
Thank u for uploading this the best All Star game eva
93, 01 and 03...best nba all-star games that I've seen
I love the fact that Kobes pissed everyones celebrating the west you can tell wanted the win but they're still smiling it off but Kobe looks down right upset they don't make em like that anymore
Did you see how Steph and Allen hugged each other? They competed. And Kobe, awesome
Kobe-Rest well forever
This is my fav all star game ever
I remember watching this game live when I was 18. It was one of the greatest comebacks in basketball or sporting history especially when you consider how good the opposition was. I lost most of the memory of that day but this video brings some of that back. What a great moment in time!
Damn, coming back after 2024 all star. Damn this is what we want.
Video should be titled "the time stephon marbury went toe to toe with Kobe and beat him"
Today’s all star is like watching the Harlem Globetrotters.
Lol 😆 facts
@@979williams9 The globetrotters are a lot better. Today's all star game is like watching your preschool play with other preschoolers in the playground. Everyone must be friendly and get along and nobody should get injured.
Man bring this energy back ! The same uni format & conference format ! Bragging rights & home court throughout playoffs
THIS was an all star game right here
Real basketball
K J I agree bro
If you think about it that last quarter was the perfect display of the modern NBA style of play vs old. The East employed a small ball and beat the west by with speed and perimeter play.
quite true but then they got rekt in the next all star games afterwards.
I miss the competitiveness like this ...after watching 2024 all star game..
The times were it was worth watching the all star, miss those days.
What an amazing all star game they really balled no short cuts 🏀💯🙌🏾
2020. Love ya Kobe
Those were the days 😉🖤
I was soo glad I watch my childhood All Star Games like this specially 1998 MJ Vs. Kobe matchup, 2001 A.I. amd Murbury lead the East Comeback win, 2003 MJs last All Star game 2 OT and 2009 Kobe and Shaq Reunion co MVPs All Stars. games. Time Flies
Kobe Bryant🐐.
Vince Carter needs some more cred for his last sec block
He gets his credit imo. Everyone knows that would have been all money
Watching Kobe take over was always special
Back in the days were the All-star game is very exciting to watch.
Miss you Kobe. Also Starbury deserves to be in the HoF as a trailblazer in China.
Those guys played to win back then...
I know Kobe had the hot hand at the end but he should have dumped the ball to Tim Duncan earlier on the last pick and roll… He gave it up with little time left because he wanted to be the hero
I miss this kind of all-star game. Marbury and AI was great in this game. They carried the East. The all-star today, I' rather sleep.
If the Knicks did not destroy Stephon, we could have seen him play more games.
Duncan should have tip passed it to Webber after Kobe passed it to him. Webber was wide open underneath the basket! That’s what I would have done! Smh 🤦♂️
Yea it's easy to say that now after watching the video put he had a split second to shoot or pass
Yeah okay KG would've swatted that shit
@@garciagerard3199 kg on the west genius
i felt like I'm watching Finals nba championship ,old school all-star never be the same again.
They're doubling kobe😂 this game was wild and ill never forget it. Had to come to this after the recent garbage. This game had like 220 points. On sunday they scored over 400. 🤯
One of the best NBA all star game..nowadays they all scared to get injured because of money..unlike before players play for the fans.
Damm rip my mamba Kobe
Squad of Kobe, Iverson, peak Vince Carter, and Duncan would absolutely wreck any squad today.
I miss this, now the players don’t care.
I like the very end when he says ,don’t think these players don’t care about winning. Today’s generation of players will go down as a weakass fairy bunch of dicks with how they play the game today
Kobe was just trying to be a team player but we all know if he took that shot it was money. He had more than enough daylight
That game was crazy the west had all the size
A.i. literally had an MVP season through out the regular season all star game ,the 01 playoffs ,and to the finals ,
Wish he got dat ring damn 😢😢😢
They win championship...what an all star
Kobe was insane.
Hey everyone, I've come from the future & I'm here to tell you that this was the best All Star game in NBA history!
Enjoyed 😉
A foul to give?!? 🤣 That’s nuts!! It’s like drilling a guy during baseball’s all star game 🤣
Competition galore, jeez, I miss this era of ball!
Stephon Marbury won that game for em hands down he the goat 🐐 in my eyes.
Now that’s something I 100% agree with
@@mistahgt yessir he’s my goat 🐐
@@mistahgt he’s the goat period
@@eugeneflowers816
GOAT
1.Marbury
2.Jordan
3.Kobe
@@jannvincentregalado1138 definitely agree I’m trying to everybody he is but they won’t believe me
Lol damn they had to double Kobe
Hezekiah Shiel Jason Kidd’s jumper was still trash back then so it made sense to leave him alone, if Michael Finley (the other west SG) was in they probably woulda doubled him too. Kidd’s shooting was that bad lol
that 1996 Alumni at work
This might be the greatest one Lowkey
NBA All Star Players today should be ashamed of themselves seeing this video
Heard the all-star game is going back to east vs west this year. It would be cool if they wore their team jerseys too!
Who's here after being disappointed with the 2023 All star game?
I didn’t even watch the game but I saw someone post this video on twitter lol
Stephon Hof he has the numbers in 2 countries.
Let's be fair.
Back when they still made effort to put a decent game for people to watch..nowadays they dont need to play no more plz just cancel and give players a break cuz no one plays
when the all-star game was worth watching
This was an All-star game ppl!!!! That damn competitive! Down to the wire! We will see nothing like this ever again!!!!
Back when the allstar game was serious and intense.
I WAS SOOOOOO HYPE. TEAM EAST BABY
This reminds me of the 24' ASG
This was game!
Back when All-Star Games mattered to players. When East vs West Rivalry was a real thing. Todays players only care about getting paid. Sad.
Hahaha Latrell sprewell ran out there to gloat to Webber hahaha
imagine if webber's follow up went in hahaha carter's celebration would be funny af
Vince carter was a genius
Sniff... the good old times. In comparison, nowadays’ All Star Game is ludacris.
My era
2020 was a pretty crazy ending too.
Love
Where's the full video?
Bill Simmons sent me here🙂
When allstar game mattered
im pretty sure kobe would have knock that shot in if he didnt pass the ball #clutchgod
Mutombo would have blocked that.
so why didnt he shoot it?
@@TheRafaelBond actually mutombo came up late, and stephon jumped from left side of Kobe. I don’t think 6”3 murbury could block 6”6 Kobe’s jumpshot. But TD got a huge wide open.
I think the timing Mumtombo to double team Kobe was perfect. Left no time for Duncan no matter was open.
How much ihave to pay to have that type of game today
Lol tmac looked confused at the end, he probably thought the ball went in n was wondering y his team were celebrating
Anybody know the name of that broadcast theme ? 1:54
NBA on NBC.
Watched this ending a dozen times. Man, C-Webb was WIDE open under the basket....🤣
Carter will block that pass.
Who came here after hearing the passing of one of the greats!! RIP Kobe
