I'm really glad to see them introducing us to a bunch of Japan-only games! It's great to see what we missed back then.
If only can give us shinigami tensei they only gave the Nintendo jp online
I’m still waiting for the remasters of the SNES Shin Megami Tensei games in English.
Wish they could’ve done this when they released Fire Emblem: The Binding Blade on Gameboy Advance Online.
Same
This surprised me a lot. It's time to try new "old" games.
Kirby's Super Star Stacker? I never thought that would come to the American service.
Glad you're doing well.

@Kaisayers23301 bot, maybe i have no idea
lol played it already anyway
It’s my fav toad salty toad gamer
Nice to see more Japanese-exclusive games getting worldwide releases!
Now here's hoping we get Custom Robo here in the west!
Adds nothing to those with access to Japanese NSO which is fairly easy to obtain. The minimum Nintendo could have done was to actually translate these games, would had been the best opportunity to do so to further sell the NSO pitch. Adding these straight Japanese rom dumps to international NSO just creates confusion to young and older demographic with the language barrier.
Mother 3
I hope Magical Pop'n gets it~
@ducksoup10 it did get localized on GameCube and DS, but it really does need a comeback.
It's great seeing SFC Kirby's Star Stacker and Joy Mech Fight release outside of Japan! Both games are really fun and it's cool to see that folks who don't have Japanese accounts be able to play these on Switch.
Yeah, if you know Japanese
Nekketsu too
@@R_wir3 Fair enough, but it's still at least cool for people wanting to play Nintendo's more obscure titles.
There is actually a Western release of Kirby's Star Tracker for the gameboy. Of course it doesn't look as pretty as the SNES version with better sounds and graphics, and full color 😁
@@R_wir3Still cool though
Very glad to see Kirby Star Stacker on the international versions of the SNES switch online!
Still sucks they didn’t bother to translate it…
That’s pretty unfortunate…
Especially since it has a story mode….
@@kitestarsucks that you’re entitled too…
@@EverettDred are we? Or perhaps because we’re paying $60+ a year for the online+ expansion that _maybe_ Nintendo should do _more_ than what they’ve been doing?
Didn't expect a movie tie-in game to be up next
Shub
This opens the door to The Little Mermaid II: Pinball Frenzy returning, and I for one cannot wait to see Scott the Woz crack another joke about it
Who? Who, pray tell? Who is asking to play this movie tie-in?
Like, who even watches Quest for Camelot? And on what medium, DVD?
If access to every one of these games is meant to be some sort of incentivized pull to get people to subscribe, this single game in the GAMEBOY library serves no incentive for anyone, child or adult, to subscribe to Nintendo Switch Online.
@@francochan It's from Warner Bros. Pictures.
@@francochan Quest for Camelot was my CHILDHOOD! I am super intrigued to learn it even had a game in the first place. so im absolutely gonna play it.
Never have I thought *The Quest for Camelot* would ever be promoted by Nintendo, in 2023. This *really* blows my mind. This is NINTENDO of all companies. 🤯
It was actually officially published by Nintendo themselves rather than Titus (developer) or WB (owner of movie that the game is based off)
Still no Super Mario Land 1?
I played Quest For Camelot back in the day. (It's based on the animated film of the same name.) It's a pretty good Legend of Zelda style game.
This was the most random "licensed" game that I wasn't expecting to be in this service. Might actually have a chance to beat the game now.
You're telling me it's a licensed game but they never gave us DuckTales or Batman on the NES online? 💀
Given that it's a game from.the company behind Superman 64, I am VERY sceptical towards it.
@@BurningAzure I can assure you it's much better than Superman 64.
@@InuYugiHakusho That bar is so low that it's practically in the Mariana's Trench.
I can't believe they put Quest for Camelot in the online service. It was one of those games I played as a kid that I never got far in, but still enjoyed all the same. I might actually beat the game after all these years.
If they cut a deal with MGM/Amazon and Microsoft for GoldenEye, then they did cut a deal with WB Discovery for QfC.
You too?
Considering it was published by Nintendo it makes some sense coming over.
I have really vague memories of this game and the film is a guilty pleasure of mine. 😁
Hoping to see more of the bigger and more popular Game Boy games like Super Mario Land, Pokemon (R, B, Y), Alleyway, etc while being mixed in with hidden gems.
The fact that we got freaking Quest For Camelot before Super Mario Land 1 or any Wario Land besides 3 is absurd
Pokemon Game maybe next february for next Pokemon Day
Adventure Island 1, Battle City and Mickey Mousecapade sould be updates in NES. Three great legendary games!
@@RedMonkeyificationthis. But they either will turn rewind off for Pokemon or just release em separately. Ain't no way they would let people just go back and cheat the system like that.
@@RedMonkeyificationI really hope so. Remember how long it took Pokémon to come to the 3DS Virtual Console?
Yes! More licensed games please! They deserve to be preserved and played as well!
You know these games aren’t preserved at all? You can only play them owning a subscription. This is the worst way of preservation.
@@edoga8895 Better than having them being forgotten. You think the Minecraft and COD generation goes on emulation sites looking for NES or GBA roms?
A better way to preserve these games is to sell them digitally in the Nintendo Eshop, like the Wii, 3ds and the Wii U. The virtual console was huge for game preservation.
@@edoga8895 Yeah, I agree. I'm just glad they have some form of visibility at all.
As much as I’m happy that Kirby star stacker is finally coming to the USA, it’s a bummer that 3 of these games don’t have translations.
@@LetsPlayNintendoITASuper Star Stacker (as the fans have called it) has a story mode, but you can _probably_ get the gist of it from the pictures? It’d be nice if Super Star Stacker got an English translation, but I can’t say it’s SUPER necessary beyond menu navigation.
@@fedorakirby2250 My guess is the west never got it due to Kirby's Avalanche being the token Tetris-alike for the series there.
@@e-122psi3 Considering the west got the original Gameboy version, no, I highly doubt that’s why. The more likely reason is that the game came out in Japan in 1998, two years after the launch of the N64. The SNES was discontinued in North America (and I assume PAL territories) the year prior, so localization plans were scrapped. It’s the same reason why Dream Land 3 was the last Nintendo published SNES game in North America, and why it didn’t hit PAL regions until _2009_ via the Wii Virtual Console.
@@LetsPlayNintendoITA There's a story mode that's like a picture book, but it's not important to the actual gameplay.
My main concern is needing to navigate the menus in a foreign language!
@@fedorakirby2250 Yeah but the Gameboy didn't get Kirby Avalanche. Granted your points are also valid. I mean they straight up didn't bother releasing Starfox 2 for that reason.
I'm hoping more Nekketsu games come to NSO (preferably the Famicom and NES titles).
Also, it's great to see Joy Mech Fight be included here!
gonna need crash n' the boys
At the very least, you're able to get the Double Dragon and Kunio-Kun collection if we don't get any more.
OMG YES@@laserninja2027
Absolutely. I'm hoping for the titles in that collection to be in NSO so more people will be able to have a taste of what they're like.@@trmptboy2007
@@trmptboy2007 yea, it has most kunio games, including the one in the new batch, AND all fully translated into english, and also includes, both western and japan releases, such a good collection
I got the Japanese version of NES NSO just for Joy Mech Fight, but now that it’s officially releasing for international platforms I’m glad that more people can have the experience of playing this underrated gem.
I got it for all the Shin Megami Tensei games.
Please add Tetris + Dr. Mario to SNES Online! It would be perfect since it’s a combo of NES Dr. Mario and GB Tetris which are already in the service but with a really fun Mixed Match mode!
Hoping Joy Mech Fight gets a "SPECIAL" release with all the characters unlocked because doing the story mode, especially the Hard Mode, is pain
I don’t doubt it
yeah, flame is the only good robot that you can use in story mode.
I've already done it on the Japanese app, so it sucks that I have to do it again
Deal with it
Wow, the animation on Joy Mech Fight looks so advanced for the NES.
Clever way to have "big" fighters within sprite limits.
It was in 1993 so one of its later games, no limbs like Rayman makes it have smooth animations too!
Honestly thought it was SNES game.
Couldn’t have said it better myself.
The “Joy Mech Flight” video game basically demonstrated what the NES was capable of despite the limitations it had.
It’s nice to see more Japanese exclusives officially brought to other markets.
Like WHAT? I havent seen any major RPG series from there to here. And I hate what they are offering
I wish that the NES title "Solstice: The Quest for the Staff of Demnos" would make a comeback on NSO!
Only if we get its SNES sequel Equinox too. I played through both on emulator just in this past month after having the Solstice cartridge for NES growing up. Brilliant games, the both of them... but goddamn though, they are _brutal,_ especially Equinox.
JOY MECHA FIGHT W’S! Such an underrated gem! + Kirby Star stacker, so that’s cool!
Kirby’s Super Star Stacker FINALLY getting an official release in the states?! Nice! Wish it was translated but honestly still really cool.
They got rich library of amazing games and we got this...
I’m surprised they put Quest for Camelot as part of the online service. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this is the first movie licensed game they added here, probably because the gameplay is heavily inspired by 2D Zelda.
Edit: Never mind. Goldeneye also exist as part of the service.
Theres something magical about NES, just the nostalgic feeling is heartwarming
I love your profile pictured and facts!

Awesome games! Played QfC on my GBA SP back in the day. Didn’t ever ever think that that obscure licensed game would come to the service
Looks like I’m giving it a try tonight lol

Oh my god, Joy Mech Fight being released outside of Japan for the first time!
Not a bad selection this time. Glad to see Kirby's Super Star Stacker and Joy Mech Fight finally get international releases, even if they aren't translated. Also, did not expect Quest for Camelot of all things to make it in here.
wonder why star stacker never released outside Japan prior to tonight
@@timelymirror7826Probably had something to do with it coming out very late in the SNES' life.
Never even heard of Quest for Camelot, but that gameplay footage looks promising.
I had literally never heard of the movie Quest for Camelot, looked it up and they had big name actors at the time like Pierce Brosnan, Cary Elwes and Gary Oldman doing voice work for it. It was a Huge flop apparently, so no wonder it’s fringe now.
@@Matthew-lo1kdI loved quest for Camelot as a kid. Watched it lots of times on hbo, but never owned the vhs, dvd, or even knew the game existed.
With Quest For Camelot coming to it (on top of a few games before this such as Goldeneye) there is apparently nothing wrong with adding games based on licensed products on the NSO.
Nintendo was wrong about that, instead of Quest for Camelot, let's instead do Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters
It was easy, since that film was a box office disaster when it came out (Titanic was still king), and Nintendo did publish two games based on other WB properties, such as LEGO (developed by WB's TT Games unit) and DC (DC Superhero Girls). Might be a part of a package deal with WB to have the Arkham Trilogy and MK1 on Switch. Also, QFC was a launch title for the GBC.
You do realize not every license holder is so easy to deal with right?
Just because some companies are willing to do business and allow their licensed property, doesn’t mean others are.
It’s more shameful that there aren’t more first party games on the platform
@@ShaggyRogers5348why is Nin wrong? Because it's not a game that you want? What happened to game preservation? Don't tell me only the games that you want to play deserve to be preserved, that's like 1% of the entire back catalogue?
@@UnlicensedOkieand then you ruined it with the last part. If we wanna talk game preservation here, every game should count not just first parties and big titles.
Let’s just hope we get a Megaman gameboy game next
I'm surprised that Sonic Advance wasn't already announced
Would definitely be awesome if we got the entire Rockman World Collection on NSO
That's gonna be interesting to see. I'd rather have the gb Megaman titles in a legacy collection of sorts that actually fixes the screen crunch issues, rather than direct emulation, but either would be cool
And Mega Man soccer for snes.
@@LetsPlayNintendoITA Megaman Legacy Collection has the MM GB titles in them?
Blades of Steel, Maniac Mansion, Battle of Olympus would be cool add ons to the NES library. The Top Gun game would also be cool
Guess we’ll have to wait another month to see what obscure titles they add that nobody will play.
Thank you so much for getting Joy Mech Fight for NA NSO! Now people will soon see why Sukapon was considered a Legend class Spirit in Smash Ultimate.
Sukapon is only good until you get Flare.
In other words, one match and you switch to OP burning boi for the entire game
Wow there are some oddballs this month. Love to see the picks for the service. Beats the same like 22 roms coming to systems again and again.
😂 it's still trash tho
TBF, Kirby Star Stacker SNES was never released in the US, same with Joy-Mech Fight. QfC was a GBC launch title, and it's a rare time that a movie-licensed game is out on NSO, because Nintendo published it after Titus developed it. Also, Nintendo published a LEGO game and a DC game under license from WB.
@@cattoadgamer4356 I wanted to ask if you even played them all, then I saw your nickname.
@@cattoadgamer4356if it's not on that 22 games list it's trash, typical "gamer" there hundreds of games in the back catalogues of these systems but it's the same 5 or 6 games people will always be moaning about.

Imma hold onto my cash until the good games come out
Oh my god, they actually remembered Kirby's Super Star Stacker? And added it _before_ the Game Boy version, no less.
Finally, an official way to play Kirby's Super Star Stacker!

@@NuiYabuko I don't get how it implies the idea that NSO is even unnecessary
The madlads actually brought Kirby Super Star Stacker back. I’m so happy.
Amazing! We need the entire Kunio series! With both Japanese and international versions for the likes of World Cup and Dodgeball as the games were very different
Not gonna lie: This is one of the biggest “WTF” updates for NSO, and in a good way, especially Quest For Camelot. That means WB licensed games, and possibly Disney licensed games, can appear on the service.
mortal Kombat WB holds the rights to the series
The two surprises being _Joy Mech Fight_ and the random licensed game of _Quest for Camelot._
Is it possible to change the grey borders on either side? I'd love to have some nice backgrounds for these emulated games
Now with the online subscription, can I play the newer Super Mario games, or do I still have to buy them? Thank you
Never thought I see a movie licensed game added to NSO. I'm pretty excited to try it out.
How do you explain Goldeneye 007?
And you can thank Goldeneye 007 for that.
Likely due to Nintendo publishing two WB-related games instead of WB themselves, LEGO City Undercover and DC Superhero Girls.
Before you ask, yes, GE007 was there first from popular demand, it's just unexpected to see an obscure movie licensed game on a GBC
Goldeneye 007:
also if they do GCN i really wanna see them add Spider-Man 2 The Game
I remember playing quest for Camelot on the game boy color back then. Dang. What a shock to see that here. Can't wait to play
Someone at NOA must like "Quest for Camelot" as a kid. A very unexpected and obscure choice, but regardless nice to see another licensed game, and a few Japanese ones. Including Kirby and the cult classic "Joy Mech Fight" which is an impressive 8-bit fighting game. (Paralax backgrounds, no sprite flicker, or slowdown.)
Or, it could have to do with Nintendo being the publisher and cutting a deal with Warner Bros. so they can release the Arkham Trilogy on Switch, in addition to Mortal Kombat 1.
This is fantastic! I really hope more classic games that were never released outside Japan (or even just not released here in NA) are added. There are _A LOT_ I'd love to see!
Also, it'd require more effort, but it'd be greatly appreciated if classic Japan-only games were given an official (if not belated) English translation. Especially as an alternate version for NA players to enjoy. That'd be amazing. 🤞
You know, if you make a second account and set its region to Japan, you could have downloaded the JP version of the NSO apps and have been playing Joy Mech Fight for years already.
This update is annoying because it doesn't actually add any new games that weren't available already, with the exception of Camelot, which has me intrigued.
@@EikeKusch776 changing to a Japanese account is useless unless YOU CAN READ JAPANESE. It's not in bloody English and NOT EVERYONE wants to learn Japanese. Also it DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. A sh*tload of Japan only games are not on the online FOR STUPID REASONS.
@flatcapman I don't know Japanese either, yet I can navigate the Japanese eshop with no effort at all. Use the English eshop as reference and remember the inputs you made with the English eshop. It's as simple as.
You brought a good point however, Nintendo really should have bothered to translate these bloody games since they brought Japanese roms to the English app. It only makes sense, with a high subscriber count funding the service, why the heck not??
Finally more NES/SNES

Super Star Stacker coming back is INSANE
About time we finally get super star stacker released in the US
There's no reason why Kirby Star Stacker and Umihara Kawase aren't on the US versions to begin with since very little Japanese is required, let alone the fire emblem game they already translated and charged full price and only had on the shop for a limited time. There are like 4 FE games that are free on the Japanese virtual consoles.
I'm happy to see so many formerly Japanese-only games, but I wish you'd at least patch in translations for the menu options for the international NSO releases!
They've been delivering NSO games back to back for these past couple of months. Keep it up Nintendo!
what they need to do is give us a way to get these games detached from the service. Bring VC back for those of us who want to buy the games and keep them when our subscription runs out.

About time for some of these games to release in the Untied States
Love seeing Japanese-exclusive titles getting western localizations! Can’t wait to see Mother 3 get the same treatment someday
Unfortunately no localizations. These are just brought straight over with no translations or anything.
They aren't going to do that only because of the old man and child thing. It's acceptable in Japan however isn't in the states or internationally.
@@AlguienTeLlamoBuhoThey can censor/change any sexual innuendo just like they did with Xenosaga. How come we can have Family Guy make jokes about pedophilia on regular TV before 10PM. I’m not justifying anything, I’m just saying it’s a double standard. I’d like to see rules applied evenly.
Quest For Camelot is a real left field addition, I also didn't even know Nintendo published it back in 1998. Haven't seen the movie it's based on since I was like 8 or 9, all I can really remember about it was it had a female lead, a blind dude as the secondary lead, and a two headed dragon. That Quest for Camelot unlocked so much nostalgia for me
Bless the guy who did the subtitles for this video, even though they exclusively consist of descriptions for each background song.
What makes me impressed:
- Joy Mech Fight finally came to the west, Sukapon is now closer to being a fighter in Super Smash Bros.
- Quest for Camelot is here, a game based on a movie, and a forgotten movie, how did Warner allowed this?
That's pretty neat! I hope some more Japan-only titles come to the service at some point, but just as-is this is a very nice selection. Kirby's Star Stacker on SNES coming to the West finally is particularly exciting, I think that's the only Kirby title to date (other than Kirby's Toy Box I guess) to never release outside of Japan, so it's very neat to see.

As long as we keep getting more notable ones in the future as well, getting a sampling of the full spectrum of what these old platforms had to offer is ideal. I had no idea that robo fighting game even existed.

They released on Japanese NSO, i think they could do 1 with little difficulty since they already have an official translation for iOS based on the GBA version, they just have to import the script and make whatever adjustments they need to for the SFC code, SMT 2 and IF are another story though@@maverickhuntermeta4954
Awesome games!
I wasn’t expecting Quest For Camelot to get a rerelease on Nintendo Switch Online! That is so cool!
I'm curious what this will mean for Super Star Stacker?
Bringing back old school vibes 👍🏾
I doubt we'd ever see Animorphs or the Harry Potter GBC games but those would be nice.
It's great to see more games on the Switch Online Service getting international re-releases along with a movie-based game making It's return also. Keep them coming Nintendo.
This may be because both games were developed by Titus, but I wonder if a majority of the staff also worked on that Hercules game where "Stroller" is considered an occupation? The spritework seems quite familiar…
That's a generous retro game addition. Appreciated.
