Grew up there. You are going through the crappiest parts of downtown that we didn't even consider as downtown. They ruined it years ago with high density housing, subsequent outrageous traffic and taxes. Actual downtown is fairly original in its buildings and even some shops. If you know what was there it's actually quite interesting.

Every fucking town in every fucking state now looks the same. New Jersey used to be something special. Now, I can’t tell it apart from some random place in Texas.
