  • A/Prof Kathy Wu, Head of St Vincent's Clinical Genomics, is leading a new trial focussed on genetics and anti-depressants.
The ENACT Trial uses a simple genetic test (pharmacogenomics) through a cheek swab to help tailor antidepressant treatment to patients. Currently, despite anti-depressants being one of the most common medications in Australia, the process of starting on this medication is based on a trial-and-error approach.
Dr Wu seeks to change this, using this targeted approach to increase the success rate of these medications.
