10 years now for the chromax version
I saw in a comment on Noctua's Instagram that it will be out next year
@@artspacegm3620so 10 years.
@@artspacegm3620 they have a roadmap on their official site, Q1/Q2 next year for chromax black version
i really don‘t understand why?! I will not wait and buy another brand
@@CLASSYX tbh it's far too expensive, I bought a 20 dolla artic cooler freezer air cooler and it works very well
I feel like I've been waiting for this heatsink for about a decade now. Excited to finally get it.
@@RicochetForce It's seriously insane what Thermalright is putting out there. It's cheap, its reliable, and it looks great. I love Noctua, always buying their products, but for my next ITX build im seriously considering Thermalright. It just doesnt make sense spending 3x the cost for something that doesnt perform better. Unless you just like spending money and like the brand.
and it not even named nhd-16.
@@OriginalUser2023 bc its not 160mm wide?
I'm looking forward to the full review! Thumbs up.
Gave your vid a like in the first few seconds, knew an awesome video was coming
I'm expecting Thermalright to be waiting in the wings with an air cooler that works 95% as well for half the cost.
Their existing stack covers that already. Noctua pricing is a joke
1/3 the cost.
Geez Louise it's HUMONGOUS!
I have a Fractal Torrent that I've been waiting for this cooler. Sadly, I'll have to probably wait until next year since I want the Chromax version. Can't wait to see how it performs.
You can probably 3D print a modified 120/140 mm adapter NA-FMA1 to take an early look at the fan's performance on radiators. Noctua provides the official file on printables.
Checking for the smallest case that can mount this beast... I would like to know if this 168mm air cooler fits in the new Lian Li x Dan A3 reviewed here recently; since the official page says that supports up to 165mm?
I hope you test the
When you will test it?
this makes me excited for what thermalright has cookin
Big boy cooler. 💪🏻
I look forward to some Thermalright cooler that's 1/3rd of the price performing quite similarly.
It's crazy how close the fan blades are to the edge, looks like they are touching in the video.
looking forward to you getting the louqe R1
Me too!
@@MachinesMore Aaaaannnnd the C4 SFX v2 - whenever it's finally out ^^
Does it come with a AM4 offset brackets?
ok and will this be enought for cooling 14700k/14900k?
will this fit in a nrp200?
So what about the rattling thing does it affect all units ?
I have not experienced this in my testing with either unit.
Would be nice to test the D15 G2 in a Ghost R1
Stay tuned….

Thank you very much! =))))))))))))
I love you! =)))))))))))))
All the best and love!
Anyone know if the Chromax heatsink covers are compatible with this one? thank you
Sadly not. I asked Noctua :(
Appreciate your help! sad though!
for $150 they should've come with Chromax covers by default ROFL
Are those LCP fans? Also the G2 is supposed to be 2 degrees better than the D15 (if i remember correctly).
yes and yes
what I want to know, and I know you have the answer is.. what's the smallest case this fits in with a decent modern GPU....
My old d15 looking at me a little funny right now
Been looking into this one and now when the specs are out it seems that it will be too big for my chassi. FD Define 7 Compact. This is because of the RAM clearance.
You can install only 1 fan then there will be no problems with RAM
@@thunder5226 Yeah, gonna have to think about this one. Its alot of money for a 1 fan cooler, lol.
If you're planning on releasing a full review, hopefully you'll do better than GN and actually test it against the best coolers in the market, namely the Phantom Spirit SE/EVO and not the old, defunct Peerless Assassin.
Would love to try this cooler on my 13900K except I am running custom water cooling with dual 480mm radiators. XD

i don't have my gpu box on a shelf this one is geting a pedestal made from motherboard

We'll need one of these for AMD's. 40CU, 8-12Core behemoth. Especially with its 256 Bit Bus. That's almost a 7700XT on die.
Left a like not cus of Noctua,
Left a like cus this channel and it's approach hits the spot - Always.
Thanks for doing these drops man. Really liking the splash of color you've been filling the background with these days.
Thanks for the detailed Noctua reviews! I would like to test with the first generation D15 and with Noctua NH U12A...
It's been 100 years.
Deep Cool Assassin IV VC Vs Noctua D15 G2
at 150$ just not sure its worth it. I think Thermalright will have some very similar but for haft the cost...
It fit in mini itx cases? If yes which one?
Depends what you consider ITX.. anything less than 15L most likely no.
Great product! Thank you for the video!
I am huge Noctua fan. Currently run my 7950X with NH-U12A Chromax and I'm happy. I'm gone be honest, I'm not impressed with what Noctua did this time around. Companies usually trying to attract customers with something new, innovative so people keep on buying their product(s), but keeping the price at more/less the same range, that is the point of new updated products, like cars..... You don't see upcharge for extra features for something that people have been buying for years at certain price range and all of the suddenly because of extra feature price goes whey up....well...Lets try different brand.
Noctuas NH-D15 which I also have costs $130 in Canada and now because they used different, more expensive fans they charging over $200...that is going to be very tough sell and that is coming from someone who doesn't mind spending premium for quality product.
before i used to buy a lot of rgb ram and deeply regret because of compatibility with a lot of coolers out there
We got new noctua dh15 before gta 6
Now Intel engeneeres can continue developing high heat producing CPUs. Here is cooling solution what should keep it kinda cool.
Yeah, I don't think that will fit in the Fractal Mood...😅
Yeeeeah… although with 20L it would have been nice to bias towards some direction, vs just being master of none.
For 150 USD this thing better cool my car and refrigerator
You cool your refrigerator? 😀
how can noctua say its coming Q2?? like what?? its Q3 now and NOTHING except pre recorded videos. even sayed >> 4 WEEKS
I was surprised to see 3 different variants of this cooler; very odd. One for LGA 1700 specifically, one for AM5 specifically, and then one that is more "universal"
Unfortunately different CPUs are different convexities. If you want Max performance it must be accounted for.
@@honkbeforeitstoolate587 oh absolutely but I have had my D15 for years now and it has lasted me many cpu changes; with this I will not get that longevity out of a new cooler if I buy one specific to a socket especially with LGA 1700 being dead
You can have the standard version of this. @@JackTotGaming
@@warraichlabs5154 true, but I wonder how it truly performs against the original D15; will wait to see full review data from other sources
Nice looking cooler, but not sure if I can stomach an 86% price hike vs gen1. I paid less for 3 deepcool and 1 thermslright air coolers combined. The tower design looks a bit dated and given the asking price, they should have at least included chromax covers for the top
Hope Chromax soon
If 3-4 years sound soon to you. Then yea
Going to be a year or two.
I imagine it will be right after the white fans get released...
Just get a can of black spray paint and DIY...
@@bobbymoss6160 say goodbye to warranty. Which, in case of this cooler, would be like throwing $150 through a window... Especially now, when the fans are new & yet unproven.
Noctua is high quality no doubt but the pricing for this vs thermalrights offerings is kind of a slap in rhe face of common sense.
150€ No Noctua, NO.
You can buy 2 arctic AIOs with the money and save lots of case space.
if they are replacing the old d15 it would make sense to cost like the d15, but 150 dollars, thats 50% more thats so outrageous, i guess thermalright its the only choice now that deepcool died =/
Only really interested in the a14 G2, Arctic P14 max's are some hella competition though
Boxer Seilspringen
はや
Is this something from the 90's?
Not to be mean but...$150 is kinda absurd for an air cooler. Any air cooler. They gotta know that right?
Its not meant for the masses
@@sopek1427 Cool. It's still overpriced.
There is only a 3 degree difference between the D15 classic and the G2 :) Actually, it is a nice product even though it is not necessary.
3 degrees is a impressive jump when considering the diminishing return design challenges they were facing.
@@honkbeforeitstoolate587 No matter which processor you use, you can make the difference seem like there is no difference with a slight voltage drop. In my country, D15S costs 52 dollars. I would like to buy G2, it is definitely a good product, but I did not feel like paying 150 dollars.
Air cooling has reached its limit, that's for sure, but I would definitely not pay for liquid cooling.
Wait, there is already a review out somewhere?
Unless they´re the manufacturer´s numbers. Those i don´t trust, because they tend to be pure copium.
I would have preferred just a review at a later date. No rush, we've waited 10 years.
Don't get me wrong, it looks even more ugly, but I love it. Function over form
What function? you can buy Arctic AIO for near half the price,it will cool better and it won’t take half the capacity of your case OR you can buy the Thermalright Peerless Assassin for a fraction of the price of Noctua, same performance
@meteor1522 Do both of them give me a 6-year warranty and near endless compatibility with upcoming chipsets in the same way as Noctua by providing upgrade kits? Regarding Arctic, yeah I'm using their LFII myself, while AiO is perfect, fans is weak point, original that came with AiO broke after a year, swapped to another set of P14, they got whining noise around 1000rpm, so swapped them for NB Eloops B14-PS set. Now tell me, was it cheaper than Noctua in the end?
Can't say bad things tough about old Termalright, had their ARO-M14, and it was fantastic (now lives in friends build), unfamiliar with their new offerings personally.
Some seek cheaper price, some seek proven stability, for each their own. See my example above about Arctic, if you remember then all reviews praised it, and many of them said that P14 are best fans, while they are perfect price performance fans, there's a hidden caveat too (I wasn't only one who encountered strange noises from it around 1k rpm mark, Google and you find it)
@@meteor1522 I doubt ALFIII cools better than NH-D15 G2. Even gen1 was very close to water coolers.
@@mixedd69 I don’t seek “cheaper price” I have a 4090 and 7800X3D ,but I don’t like spending nearly $300 on a CPU air cooler and case fans when others like Thermalright match the performance of Noctua for literally a fraction of the price.
@@kamilfingr371 At best, a top-rated air cooler can match a 240mm AIO but not beat it. Various tests, including GN’s own, have shown this.
Plus, it costs $150, which is more than a lot of AIOs. And if you must have air cooler, likes of the Peerless Assassin and Phantom Spirit have matched/bettered Noctua’s performance before, and they’re under $45.
Just buy a Thermalright cooler and some chromax fans and you have the perfect result
Has trouble beating a 40$ cooler by 1c...
LOL
Also, that 40$ cooler gets beaten by 3c by another 50$ cooler already.
Noctua is a joke.
This cooler is the equivalent of Supreme t-shirts
You pay 5x the price of others just for the brand name
150 usd... no no no ......Thermalright is the right choice
Noctua fans are unparalleled though. I used to balk at spending $30 for a single fan, but I decided to try one and I love the powerful silence. I have a thermalright silversoul, and its clearly just not designed as well, the stock fan is loud, and the towers arent rigid enough so they make a sinewave vibration noise. I ended up tying the two towers together and replacing the fan. Thats a good middleground, thermalright heatsink with noctua fan.
@@honkbeforeitstoolate587 never had any problems of noise with thermalright, fans are great if you know how to configure the fan curves. I had 1 problem, my noctua nhd15 the plating peeled off after 2 years. I was a Noctua enthusiast, but now thre are a lot better options. You could get a thermalright frost commander for 35 usd and it comes with amazing fans. For the price of the noctua you can get 4 frost commanders dual tower and you will have money left for and aditional 500gb nvme. Math does not lie.
@@honkbeforeitstoolate587 Thermalright frost commander is the right choice 35usd, for the price of a Nhd15g2 you can get 4 frost commander dual tower with great fans and you will have money left for an additional 500gb nvme
$150 for that ugly shit is a BIG FUCKING NO LOL!!!
still no threadripper cooler for my workstation build
I don't see what the big deal is but hopefully the performance will make me shut my mouth lol
I don´t think that´s gonna happen. Air cooling will always have its limitations and more heatpipes and/or better fans don´t always make a difference. Honestly, i was kinda surprised initially, as they went straight for D15S offset design, but considering how Noctua tends to price their new fans & heatsinks, it makes sense - it will be priced above & beyond existing designs.
However, i still think that if they overshoot the price, nobody except hardcore fanbase will touch it.
150 dollars is insane ngl, at that point one might as well buy the arctic liquid freezer iii. Coming from G1 user.
@@Morpheus-pt3wq Yeah that's what I was thinking too. There's a physical limit that these sorts of air coolers can cool and I doubt the G2 will break the laws of physics lol. I just don't see what there's to be hype about when thermalright will probably get within 95% or more of the performance of this thing for a lot less
@@Invictus_Mithra there is a possibility it will be a bit better than old D15, as they increased the fin area & density in comparison with D15(S) - the old heatsink is a bit small when compared with the size of the fan. However, i suspect their new fan specs (actually... ALL of their fan specs) are pure copium, just like everyone else´s.
Noctua spit on that thing
Thang
technology has passed over these giant air coolers by. With the super-heated CPUs nowadays, it makes no sense to go with anything worse than Arctic Liquid Freezer 360. I have always loved Noctua and especially their meticulous teutonic engineering, but my D15s rots away in my attic now. Please invent something new Noctua.
what a disgustingly disappointing product at its price. Idk what Noctua is smoking. I feel like Nvidia released this cooler.
They still look like dog crap. Really Noctua get with modern times already. I had the original D-15 good cooler but with all the modern cases where your stuff these are just bad. Also theirs air coolers on the market that will do just as well for a 3rd of the price That look 10 times better. Noctua really needs to get their act togeather, really disapointed
That ugly thing is not worth $150 lol. It makes Deepcool coolers look like Roll Royce in comparison. 🤣🤣
No testing for a cooler fan is useless. Don't waste our time with umboxing a fan.
First sentences in the video says it's an unboxing. facepalm
