I never say the words in my head. I just read them. But then again, i learned to read before starting school.
Another wonderful video. You should be proud, not just of your newfound speed reading, but your ongoing ability to weave a wonderful visual story.
Keen to try this, I have SO MANY books I want to read. It's so overwhelming that I've actually been reading less 🙈
Great video I'm a slow reader I took the test 133 wpm. Your video has inspired me as I love books but my slow reading speed puts me off. I'm going to try and improve 👍
Also, i love the fact that you sat outside in winter to read. I don't see that many people do that. Here in Québec City we have those cool little propane lit fires in town with chairs around them and i like to go sit there and read. Can"t do it every day, last night was -27C, but it's nice and the cold adds a certain alertness to it. 🥶
I love all your challenge videos. Although there is no chance of me ice water dipping in my recycling bin, and certainly no chance of me rowing across the ocean, I do find all your videos inspiring. They make me try new things. This one was particularly interesting as I am trying to read more books at present.
Your enthusiasm for learning is contageous!
I really love the curiosity that comes out of your videos and the fact you are trying so many new things! Thank you so much Laura for doing this!
Thanks for this Laura! I decided to read 1 book per month this year and this is very timely. I would definitely try those techniques and hope to read more than what I planned this year.
Thank you Laura, I tried to learn to spead read last year, but didn't stick with it and you just motivated me to get back to it. Amazing to hear how well it worked for you !
Brilliant video Laura! Your toolbox is getting bigger and better and more and more awesome with each new video! It's fabulous!!
Great to be learning something new you will get younger and younger!
Thank you SO much for this video. I've long been a big fan of all of your content and this video somehow perfectly coincides with one of my biggest lifetime goals. I have a dozen books in the hopper and no idea how I'm going to get through them all. I'm certain this will be a huge help! Mush Love to Laura T!!
Utterly brilliant, as usual. Thank you very much.
Always Interesting. Thank u!
Such a Great Video, you inspire me!
I found this very interesting. I already employ this technique (though I hadn't known it was a 'technique!) If I'm reading a book that I'm taking information from, I'll read it extremely quickly and just take in key points (I read the whole of a long, red light therapy book last week, in about an hour). As you have said: it's not just a case of skim reading; rather, I read the words and absorb them visually without hearing them in my head. If it's a beautiful hook, and well written, and I'm there for the journey, which means the narrative , the language, the atmosphere...then I'll read at a normal pace, saying the words in my head. I feel it would be a travesty to speed read Julian Barnes, Jeanette Winterson or Daphne du Maurier!
This surprised me. I’ve never read the words in my head and to hear that most people do that. I’ve always been a speedy reader though. Really interesting watching your journey and the different steps. Amazing how quickly you sped up your reading.
Great video LT!
