It's weird, I totally get the feeling of a "brighter" feeling from the early 2000s even though we had just been attacked by terrorists in a dramatic and awful way. I remember the same feeling, but I also remember the growing dread war and recession at the same time. Such a strange contrast. Must have been kinda like how kids in the 60s felt pre-draft.

I learned recently that Steve Harwell has retired after his last performance with Smash Mouth. Honestly, I'm kind of surprised that I found this out in the news by accident considering that we never hear about anything from Smash Mouth anymore (let alone any of their new songs).
I remember being in 8th grade, coming home from school turning on MTV and this being on, then I would strap on my roller blades and hall ass to my friends for some street hockey, with this song blasting in my head the whole time hahaha good times man!
It got decent airplay when the movie came out but was quickly replace by all the Nu- Metal bands that were flooding the airways back then. Takes me back to 2002
