Rest in peace, legend. Your voice will be forever remembered.
Then the mourning comes ..
Of course, as soon as that happened there's someone that needs to mention it on their videos. Easy likes, right? People capitalizing on peoples deaths is gross to me, sorry.
@@codyerb6143 Or maybe people are just expressing their genuine feelings and respect, and a Smashmouth video is the most logical place to do so? I just kind of doubt they're doing it just for CZcams likes, because, well... Who even cares about CZcams likes anyway?
Facts ❤😢💔🙏
@@ksharlesgzhames7924i didnt WANT to like this but i also did at the same time...
These guys were underrated pop songwriters. The structure of this song is unique and I am not ashamed to say that I love the Astro Lounge album.
Astro Lounge and Fush Yu Mang are my favorites
Why would you be ashamed to like an album? Especially a good one.
Me too
Joshua Byron For real, and I always thought in this song and others they sound like a futuristic version of The Doors
I love the memes and all that but I also still love that album! The song structure and arrangements are really cool, also chords are really interesting in some songs
the 90s was so rad
Tell that to Croats or Bosnians
No, the 90's were dope. The 80's were rad.
@@notAkaren-THEkaren Actually the 90's were "EXTREME !!!"
Both of you are wrong they were TOTALLY SPECTUALARLY RADICALY SICK
*2009* it was made in 2009
Sincere condolences to Smash Mouth, family, and friends. May the 90s music live on forever 🎶❤🙏
We'll miss you Steve
We will miss you Steve r.i.p
This is a millennial anthem!!!
God i'm Really going to miss H Him
Rest in peace steve harwell we are will love you forever
Me in 1999: "Damn it i can't escape these damn Smash Mouth songs"
Me in 2022: "Damn it why can't there be more songs today like Smash Mouth songs"
When I think of Smash Mouth, I think of Shrek
@@hunteradams2123 Same bro
for real man.
this was such an amazing, creative era of music. At this point, everything is an offshoot in one way or another
So damn true. I half couldn’t stand them back then but now I find myself looking up their music.
RIP Steve Harwell. Thank you for being the soundtrack of my early adulthood.
Underrated chord changes and vocal harmonization
they have that 90s kind of chord patterning. check out letters to cleo and veruca salt, they are very similar but female.
@@uwvadertje I liked Cleo and Veruca. Great pop songs, some of the best stuff of the 90s. Also loved Breeders, Throwing Muses, I would however propose that Smashmouth had a slightly more sophisticated sense of harmony, they drew a lot of inspo not just from trad rock, but also 60s psychedelic, exotica/lounge and cocktail jazz. Lots of altered dominants and voicings outside of the typical power chord tropes. I'd also include Cardigans (great female-fronted Swedish pop) a part of that genre as well.
I love the bridge in this song. It’s all I’m listening to it for. They should’ve done more with that part. Like make another song off that.
Who else walks on the moon? 💃
Brilliantly crafted psychedelic pop song. Their best imo and it could’ve been a hit in the 60’s.
Exactly, very Zombies-like.
Yes!!
RIP, Steve!
It’s crazy how if they started just a few years earlier they would have been even more approved by critics & what not. They were behind the times but it made them amazing in their own way.
It does sound unique
90's music = pure nostalgia. Its like every song has a specific memory tied to it. Little things that I'd likely not remember if it weren't for the song.
My 8th grade history teacher absolutely adored this song, and played it on a weekly basis in class, among other songs. Good times.
lucky you lol. All my teachers in the 90s were sticklers. And mostly useless. But thats not saying much, it was the education system in Tennesses after all lol
Came here to give a lot of love and respect for Steve, his family and friends, and his band mates. ❤️👊🏽 Rest in Power, Mr. Harwell. Your voice and legacy lives on.
2:49 Love how you don't expect them to just roll right into the chorus without any notice.
That was smooth actually
That part is so slick and always catches me off guard
Excellent! Pure bliss
Smash Mouth was such a part of my summers as a teen. Songs like this one were the soundtrack of the season- fun music meant to make the listener feel good. I'm so sad that Steve is transitioning to that next place but his music and the memories that came with it will live on. Thank you, Smash Mouth. And love to Steve and all who love him.
Well said. I'm sad that Steve passed. Didn't know it was liver failure. Great singer. Crazy that the band continues without Greg and with the new singer.
@@James-to7piI was in junior high when I first heard Smash Mouth. They made rock and roll awesome. I’ll miss that about Steve that he made very uplifting music.
Rest in peace Steve. Your music will never be forgotten 😢
The lead singer looks like such a bro. I'd hammer some beers with him, lol.
Fuck yeah. Steve Harwell bro.
He is lit
Slagtheangry sounds like you wanna hammer him
they recruited the guitarist by harrassing him every morning by banging on his windows and shit, he does sound like a funny dude
Yeah if I could crush cocktails with Steve Harwell and Guy Fieri that’d kick ass. Especially if it was at Universal Studios Orlando or something.
RIP Steve 🙏 Thanks for all the catchy tunes in the late 90s like this one with the band. This was my favorite song you guys did. You passed way too young :(
I used to listen to this ALL the time as a kid, how the hell did I forget about it?!

Same here
Smash Mouth kicks ass. I don't care what all of you haters say.
They're great!
+ApocalypticStorms Their better than great, They're AWESOME!!
+Fretless_ness Your right. I don't give 2 shits about celebrity stuff. I was outside of a club chilling on a bench, the drummer, and bass player came out. I had no idea, until they sat down and listened to me converisng with my brother, and they were laughing at what we were talking about, which were just jokes, and shit. They joined in, started cracking jokes with us. Then told us they were the Bass player and Drummer for Smash Mouth. I said, "So? Then what happened?" They were laughing harder than hell, because I didn't give a shit. They hung out with me and my brother the rest of the night. Very cool people.
Ok
yes mam I agree with you
RIP Steve Harwell! My 3 grown kids grew up listening to Smash Mouth in the 1990s... You truly were one of a kind!
Rest in peace dude. You were the soundtrack to my childhood. You had so many bangers overshadowed in the meme thats Shrek.
Smash Mouth was one of many pillars of my childhood. Rest in peace Steve 🙏
Every day in the '90s always felt like a sunny, perfect day :( But even when I remember the rainy days, they were still just as awesome.
*****
Lmao, nah it made perfect sense and I totally agree :) And it _is_ true that the climate has changed a lot since then.
***** Were you a kid? Easy explanation for everything then. In anycase, I remember the years fondly with wide skies of gray, but I'm a Minnesotan, so...lol
Kai Hell-Sky
Haha, and I'm a Californian so that explains my view :p I just hope most people remember their childhood as a sunny and happy time.
***** my 90s aesthetic is the visible light you'd see shining through windows in the house
***** i do, and totally agree with you
RIP Steve Harwell. You were a staple of the 90's and Ill never forget your cool music and the nostalgia that I get from hearing your awesome music. Rest easy
Astro Lounge was one of my most favorite albums ever.
I listened to it days on end ❤
Steve was truly a treasure to the music world.
We'll miss you dude
RIP Steve Harwell. One of my favorite bands growing up. Thank you for the music. 🙏
One of the best bands, very unique and talented. You will be missed Steve Harwell! RIP😢
Favorite Smash Mouth song of all time. Fun, groovy, nerdy, attention to detail, one of my favorite melodic lines, instrumentation impeccable. Up there with Deee-Lite and En Vogue for retro and genre blend perfection.
What a great band, they ruled the 90s as much as anyone. Rest in peace Steve Harwell.
Their music had such a cool 60s vibe. RIP Steve.
Totalmente de acuerdo como agogo..genial
I remember listening to this on my portable CD player riding the bus in elementary school.
Zachary Jarrells me too, that shit made me feel invincible
Zachary Jarrells I did the exact same lmao
My heart goes out to the family and friends of Steve. 😢 It's such a tragic situation to have a loved one suffering.
Saw the news too. Heartbreaking 😢
What happened to this group . Did they disband it’s like they just stopped making music
The only thing I hate about this song is that it’s too damn short - easily one of my faves! RIP, Steve and thanks for the great vibes!
Incredible old school and modern music 🎶 vibes that will never die!!!! RIP Steve. 🙏 You are never forgotten.
This is such a great song. Another underrated hit by SM! A showcase to their Retro Alt-Rock style. RIP...Steve Harwell. You were a master.
RIP Steve Harwell. Fica seu legado para todos.. Fica a saudade de tempos bons na música.
Fiquei muito triste com a notícia. Descanse em paz...
R.I.P. Steve Harwell 1967-2023
rest in peace Steve 🙏 thanks for being a voice in music from my childhood.
There will never be another band like Smash Mouth, My childhood and the 90's were the golden age for all music artists during that time

No doubt!
Practically all genres were just hit with the explosion of the creative-enlightenment bug!
Rock 'N' Roll, Hard Rock, Metal, Alternative, Punk, Ska, Grunge, to Pop, Country & Tejano.
What an amazing ride the 90s were, for the musical artists of that era! ✌😎
Grow up and listen to king gizzard
@@SL-ld9tn Sorry, What? What's my childhood music gotta do with growing up? also why would I listen to a band because somebody who told me to "Grow up" and is a stranger suggested it to me?
I could never think of the 90’s as a golden age...of anything but grifters and scoundrels and a witch as 1st woman (she’s no lady)!
RIP Steve. Today, September 4, 2023, was your final morning that come. May you RIP and thank you for your impact in the late 90s and early 2000s
Rest well Steve Harwell. One of my favorite songs of my early adult years.
RIP Steve Harwell. Your with your child now. You’ll always be an All Star.
I never realized how many hits Smash Mouth has. Rip brother
This is his best song, needs way more recognition
I fucking loved Smashmouth back in the day! Correction I STILL do! Rest easy, my brother. Thanks for making the world 🌎 🌍 smile even for just a little while
This one hurts. Love this band so much from circa 2001 onward to this day… still think these songs are awesome. Thanks for the music Steve -
I'm not saying this is the best music in the world but it has the quality and level of smartness of instruments and the has the difficulty of instrument layering that you don't see in popular music anymore
It is a very well-constructed track, no doubt.
r/lewronggeneration
That's Brian Valentine's producing for you.
Marshall Smith Was Are you Jesus?
Great pop... with real players.
God I miss the 90’s. So glad that I was able to be there! RIP a legend. Such an underrated band off sure.
I love this song from Smash Mouth so much that I can't get it out of my head on behalf of experiencing plenty of nostalgia during the COVID-19 pandemic. R.I.P. Steve Harwell, we'll miss you and your brilliant voice, too.
RIP Steve Harwell great classic music. May they have a special stage and hall of fame up in the sky...
Rest easy legend, you were and forever be an iconic voice for the 90's and onwards.
At last the morning won't come for my man 😢 will always love you and how you and your pals Greg, Paul and Kevin gave my childhood an enjoyment through music. Was a fan the whole time and always hoped you guys would get some recognition for your later albums in the 00's

Underrated song as it was one of my favorites from smash mouth. Rip Steve.
Great song, sadly this hits different knowing he's about to pass away. Hope he finds peace. Heck of a thing time is when it comes to songs from childhood to now when you're an adult and notice so many more things about the world

Underrated song, I love how it kicks into another gear at 1:58.
I love the bridge in this song. It’s all I’m listening to it for. They should’ve done more with that part. Like make another song off that.
god i miss the 90's
To be honest, the 90's felt like they lasted years into the 2000's. It also took till 1995 for the 80's to completely wear off imho

R.I.P Steve Harwell. You & Smash Mouth are Pop Culture Icons. Condolences to his family & members of Smash Mouth
Man, great memories. The last time I heard this song was probably over 10 years ago. It was like background music in a home movie.
I remember downloading this song with a fan-made music video during the LimeWire days.
The top is. :)
R.I.P. Steve 😞 thanks for all the great tunes!
RIP Steve. Legends never die! 🎸
Most people will talk about "All Stars" but this is right up there with the best of them.. RIP Steve Harwell
This one is my absolute favorite from them. Such a unique song 🎵 ❤ Steve is going to be so missed 😢
You brought only joy and optimistic vibes in our generation! Part of my childhood.

RIP 🪦 Legend!! Here’s to ITunes having Smash Mouth at the top of the charts!!
I am glad I got to listen to their music. Great influence and amazing retro music.
Amazing vocals & Amazing band with a unique sound
Smash Mouth deserves more credit for their style. Their sound is like frattier Blink-182.
They sound absolutely nothing like Blink 182 lol.
lasoogneypubes they got that SoCal feel ya know, but the main singer looks like a guy that drinks a little too much beer and watches reverse gangbang porn. I'm from SD and so is Blink 182, so you wouldn't know bro, it's all good though it's a Cali thing
TheCanalesPalace Oh right I almost forgot. Californians are stupid douche bags.
+TheCanalesPalace - Haha now that you mention it, they do have that similar Y2K era sound for Rock genres. Ignore that other guy who replied, he clearly has California envy lol.
Sebizzar Haha yeah Y2k..that's a perfect way to put it. And no worries man, I just ignore the hate ya know. Maybe since it's because we're from Cali. We just don't sweat petty uncreative insults.
Yeah, This song still jams. RIP Steve.
RIP, bro. You have the voice of an angel.
Bless your soul, Steve😢😢😢
this song is a lot funkier than I remembered. 90s, baby!
Steve's voice is practically synonymous with the late 90's and the early 2000s.
This song will always remind me of traveling the South in my teens. RIP Steve. 🕊
Great song, Steve - RIP.
Smash Mouth songs can range from corny and campy to absolute genius. This is a genre song of the most genius degree. It's a 60's and psychedelic, it could go right next to Madonna's "Beautiful Strangert" and be looked as just as brilliant. Smash Mouth has a few songs that really made their mark, I love this and "Pacific Coast Party" as two absolutely original entries into pop music.
this song goes hard af

RIP Steve Harwell (January 9, 1967 - September 4, 2023), aged 56
You will be remembered as a legend.
I basically burned a hole through my Astro Lounge CD listening to it everyday. Smash Mouth was one of the defining artists of my adolescence.
R.I.P. Harwell thanks for being the sound track of my childhood.
RIP Steve. You are a legend!!!
RIP Steve Harwell you made the joy of many generations
I’m listening to these again to revisit my childhood. I’m going to really miss him
Boy this was one band that made it big and then just vanished off the face of the earth!
I sooooooo agree
They were just a late 90s fad that's why. But I still love them to death! Reminds me of when I was in 4th grade :(
The singer started writing songs , thats what went on.. then egos started clashing , i mean , that and the fact that the songwriter didnt want them to sell out , but was outnumbered. Stuff like that.
They vanished off the face of the earth because they are now walking on the sun...sorry...
Except for all the Shrek memes
Where are my 3D Doritos, SURGE soda and Gameboy Color?
hahaha what an awesome reply
Anyone would love these things had they no smartphones, facebook, and twitter
***** Everybody knows that the 90's didn't end until 2004
Mannnn to still have Doritos 3D!!! Now you gotta buy them on ebay. Or get them in Mexico lol this album was dopeee as a kid man

I wish these guys felt the love they deserved. Rip mang
thank you for everything. all the early 00's memories. this song right here still hits just as hard. bless , man....
WHEN THE HECK DID SMASH MOUTH BECOME NOT POPULAR?!?
This stuff is great.
90s man.. great band. they actually got really popular, they had a lot of hits on the radio back late 90s early 2000s
Watching the news you'd think they were a 1 Hit Wonder with just All Star, but Walking On The Sun, Can't Get Enough Of You Baby, I'm A Believer, Then The Morning Comes, some great hits.
One of my all. Time. Fav bands ever
