1970 Corvette Stingray Convertible. For sale in Oklahoma. Frame off restoration.
For sale is a completely frame-off restored L-46 350-350 4-speed convertible. All Numbers match on this car and the car is original except for a few modifications as noted below. Car was completely disassembled and rebuilt with new or rebuilt parts. Way to many to list.
Options and Documentation- Options include 350 hp Turbo-Fire engine (now 405 hp), air conditioning (condenser and compressor available but not installed), 3.36 rear axle with positraction, Power windows. Telt-telscopic steering wheel. Power steering, Power brakes, Push button radio , Hard Top with Black vinyl covering (fair condition). Original tank sticker, Original build sheet, and other misalliances documents that came with the car.
Body- The body was painted GM Bright/ Flame red, but was originally white. This work was done by a well known shop in Oklahoma city -”Corvette Body Works” who specializes in Corvettes. The body was completely stripped and shot with two coats of high build primer and blocked after each. It was painted with DuPont Acrylic Enamel with an added hardener.
Frame- The frame was completely stripped and dipped in a vat to remove very light surface rust. There was no damage found on the frame which was then primed and painted with flattened DuPont Acrylic Enamel. Reassembly involved replacing all wear parts such as tie rod ends, ball joints, shocks, rear strut rod bushings Etc. Other assemblies including the differential, power steering cylinder and control arms were rebuilt.
Engine- The engine was blue printed and balanced during a complete rebuild. The work was done by the best known racing engine builder in the southwest “Boyd's Auto Machine”. The engine was bored .030 over and the new TRW forged 11.25 compression ratio pistons were used as originally in the engine. The pink rods had new high strength bolts installed and were reconditioned. The original nitrited crank shaft was perfect and was reused after balancing. The cam was replaced with a Comp-Cam 280. The heads were also completely rebuilt Including including new hard seats for today's no lead gas, new valves and guides. A light port job was done on the heads. A Weiang Team-G intake manifold was installed with a Holly 800 cfm carburetor The engine was broken in on a dyno and was tuned to make 405 peak HP (dyno sheets available). This was with a Holly 4 barrel but I have since changed to a Holly Sniper fuel injection system. The ignition uses a MSD 6a box with a MSD blaster coil and MSD ignition wires. Car stars immediately and runs even stronger than with the 4 barrel. This engine gives the car amazing performance.
Drive Line- The drive shaft was rebuilt and a Center Force clutch and clutch plate was installed. Clutch operates easily and is bullet proof. The transmission was inspected and resealed (shifts perfectly). A fiber glass spring was installed to replace the original which is available as are other original parts. Wheels are vintage American Racing Coke Bottle (rare)
Exhaust- The car is equipped with ceramic coated headers with 2” stainless steel pipes. New mufflers and exhaust tips. Car sounds really good.
Brakes- Calipers were replaced with stainless steel sleeved units from “SS Brakes”. Hoses and brake lines were replaced. Booster was replaced and master cylinder was rebuilt. Parking brake shoes were replaced.
Other Items- Alternator was rebuilt. Head light buckets were rebuilt and control valves were replaced. All vacuum line firewall forward were replaced. Wiring was inspected and replaced as necessary. Bumpers were rechromed. New brass radiator sized for air conditioning and radiator frame support.
Interior-seat covers were originally vinyl but were replaced with red leather from Al Knock. Door panels and all carpeting were replaced. Other vinyl parts were repainted with proper original color. Gauge panel was disassembled, inspected and cleaned. All gauges work properly. Radio needs repair.
The special thing about this car is that over the last 36 years this vette has been
owned and garaged and restored by a good friend of mine who happens to be an electrical
engineer. This guy is so attentive to detail that its hard to believe.
If you were looking for a well built car that was taken completely apart by a guy who cares about
quality then this car is the one you want.
The guy who built it is not only an electrical engineer he also has been around all types of racing over the years.
The car comes with boxes and boxes of the original parts and pieces that were replaced when the resto took place, We have all the AC parts to make it blow so cold again!!!!!!!!!!
