- All too often life can feel like a competition to see who is the busiest. Our lives are filled with rushing, stress, anxiety and exhaustion. Being overworked has become a marker of success, and it’s difficult to resist getting caught up in the wave. We're less in tune with our bodies and minds and there's little time left over to simply 'be'.
We don’t need to live life at breakneck speed. There is so much joy and wonder surrounding us in our daily lives - we just need to stop and take time to notice it. And it’s then that we realise that beauty truly is everywhere.

Several years ago I resigned from my position as a tenured university professor. My colleagues thought I was crazy. I just couldn't do it anymore. I loved my students but was exhausted by the politics of higher education. I moved from a large US city to a small southern town. I now live on 1/4 of what I used to live on. I work part-time and have time to hike, bake, and read. It's amazing how little I really need. Thank you for such wonderful videos.

Trouble is we are working to pay massive taxes to feed out of control governments and entitled societies who think government money just pops out of some secret hole in the wall ..They want us enslaved ,very few escape ,trapped and made to believe it is the rignt thing .
I've been in a divine isolation season for almost 2 years now. Whenever I go out "in the world," I can see how I've grown as a person. I'm 55, but I was raised by a overt & a covert narcissist, and after they died, my "Golden Child" sister thought she was gonna treat me like my Mother did. My dad died in 2004, and after I helped put my mother's casket in the back of that hearse on October 29, 2016; my healing started. I haven't talked to my sister in years. I forgave her for "me." But life has taught me that Not Every Act Of Forgiveness Comes With A Reconciliation Clause. This Peace I have today is precious, and I protect it by any means. Keep pushin' yall! 💪🏾

I can so relate to what you have said
I was raised by a Narcissist
When I was in my early 30’s my eyes were slowly opened to what that means and how it affected who I was and the decisions I made
I still unfortunately continued to make decisions that were based on how I was raised
And married 2 Narcissists over the years
I am 61 and finally free of them but have had to pick up the broken pieces of my life and heart to start over
Freedom and Peace are everything
I’m doing much better but it’s a “one day at a time “ life which how we are supposed to live
I’m grateful and thankful for all of the small things and each day is a blessing
My heart goes out to everyone who has either been raised and/or married to a Narcissist
Please get free so you can finally enjoy your life and every day that you are blessed with

You are so right, being busy is so overrated .. I find Beneke so inspiring.
Look to the classics, the humanities. You can pick up a full set of Thr Great Books pretty inexpensively on eBay, maybe even Amazon,
or your local thrift store.
So true. Success is such a subjective thing but most people dont realise that and ignore u when u are not busy enough or making lots of money or fall into the accepted pattern of life the world expects you to lead. They are punishing for just being you. So glad to know there are those who think that life is not all about running and being busy all the time. Thank you.

What about teaching students : just to find your true selves and learn to be rich inside instead of chasing the material things .. that’s why I never understood the purpose of school .. it should be more real , more like home for your soul . Each time I watch your videos, I think about something: when we human beings live with nature, we're alive, we're connected, we're spiritual, we understand life, we're at peace, but when we are in cities without trees, surrounded by concrete, we are lost, scared and sad...
It is easier to find connection in Nature you are so right.
But I think we need to learn as Beneke says to find beauty and connection no matter where we are, just looking at the beautiful afternoon light ...

Last January I suffered a nervous breakdown as a result of stress from confinement and stress from work. I felt totally destroyed, suddenly I couldn't function in the everyday world. Fortunately I found a doctor who did not prescribe medication to anesthetize me. He prescribed me sleep, walk in the mountains and respect my biological rhythm.
I have come back to life thanks to disconnecting from the life that society tells you to live. It is sad that the dominant vital system among human beings is the destruction of their soul.

This exact thing is happening to me now so thank you for sharing so I wouldn't feel alone in this. I need an alternative to the go go go modern life. My body and soul is tapped from stress, pressure, and expectation. This is the life I want but don't know how to get there.
@@meganwright842 I am also on that phase. I'm overly stressed and pressured with the society,dictating me on what I need to accomplish. But, I'm beginning now to understand myself. I am trying by taking small simple steps at first, realizing whats important,and what is not. I resigned on my stressful work, kind of a stupid idea since I need money because this pandemic is killing the economy, but I need myself compared to money, and so now a part of me is myself,gonna continue to find myself more. The time off has been great but everyday I feel so guilty for taking time off for myself and not working. That's what society has taught us I guess. I'm just so happy to hear I'm not alone in this. I left my corporate job when I turned 50. 7 years later, I am living a quieter, simpler life. Making art, meditating, gardening, cooking good food, practicing generosity of time with others. It was an uncomfortable transition. The rewards, now are so wonderful, well-being, better physical and mental health, time for naps and simple joys. Letting go of the ego pursuits of beings someone "successful" has been so liberating. I am enjoying being an invisible part of the web also. It's such a relief!

I currently live in a suburb of a large city in the States, distant traffic a constant hum; sirens, helicopters, car stereos booming as they drive by in the neighborhood. As I type this my two granddaughters whom I care for part time are napping. The house is closed up for a springtime chill in the air. But I hear a bird's song. There are so many small things we can do when life hasn't given us the opportunity to get away from the 'concrete jungle.' I have recently added a birds song channel to my Pandora and I listen to it often, even in the shower. It's like I'm a million miles away with the sounds of a rain forest or a thunderstorm or the swallow's song near the water. Learning to quiet one's inner life even as the outward is so noisy is something I am now considering to be a gift!

I am 47 and in my happiest moment in my life even I am on my own living like a nomad. I watch netflix or youtube when I finished walking around the neighbourhood and I never feel the guilt like I used to feel when I was still grinding for living.

yes....It's not accessible to everyone to live in such wonderful places. And elsewhere sometimes it's harder to marvel at things, it might not be so facilitating. I envy him as well.

He’s right! I live in a city full of crime in New England. When I’m able, I get out to a beautiful park called Forest Park. It’s so beautiful with its Japanese Gardens, duck pond, Canadian geese, I see deer, turtles, tadpoles, frogs, fish, berries, beautiful birds, the occasional swan, egrets, majestic blue herons! And I love to sit in a The middle shallow babbling brook on a stone & let the water flow over my feet though the water is the same warm temperature as the air! I love the sounds of the birds, the brook! I love the beautiful shade these few 100 years old trees provide! And I always am one of the last to leave during the sunset which last I left, looked like liquid 24KT gold! Just Beautiful! When I am there...I am at total peace! I need no one nor no thing, for I am part of it all & it is part of me! Oneness in peace!

@@ReflectionsofLife oh, thank you so very much! 🙏🏼 I try to paint the picture of it in words of what I experience when there! I am so blessed to be in walking distance of both these places for now! I may be moving, but I do so feel a kindred spirit with this lovely place donated by mainly the Everett Barney Family who made their living partly by making strap-on roller & ice skates! They donated 700+ acreage of their own & encouraged other wealthy families of their day...the 1800’s, to donate some land & money to fund it & keep it as a preserve protecting plants & animals! There are Japanese Gardens with 4ft Pink & White Lotuses! There are regular Lotus ponds, a swimming pool for children & little water park, built-in amphitheaters! (There used to be 3 that we’ve found! One is left that is not over grown!) I often wonder how it must’ve been back in their day to hear the newest classical music at the amphitheaters! WOW! Healing to all people & wildlife back then! Their son’s home is now a place for celebrations! (The Barney mansion, was used as a museum until 1955, when it was demolished to create one of our interstate highways, sadly.) There are beautiful rose gardens, 3 gazebos, hiking trails, Cross Country Ski Trails, an Eco Camp for children & Tennis & Volleyball Courts, Shuffleboard, Bocce Ball, and other sports like Football, Soccer, Baseball & Softball! And the next time I see a golden sunset (called the “golden hour,” I recently learned!) I will think of YOU, Justine! 🌅 Much Loved, Respect & Gratitude to you, both for ALL you do, Justine & Michael! 💚

I have been going through an existential crisis for the last year or so. I am finally coming to accept beauty and contentment in an ordinary life. In a simple life. In a slow life. Everything I had fought so hard against in my youth and 20s. Even my early 30s. Having mindful moments alone or with my family, doing “nothing” but enjoying each other’s company. Being finally able to relax and “do nothing” and find that it is what I really needed. Everything else is just noise.

This man is beautiful inside and outside. When he said "you live within the limit that you set for yourself" I felt very touched. I've built these big limits around me. It's my mistake, I have always wanted to live like that, I still want it, but I'm always afraid.
I'm a man older than him, but he is definitely more mature and wiser than me. I'm happy he's so free.
