Great review, appreciated the fairness in highlighting the positives and the negatives. I really enjoy Boundless, and the opening is great. Performance is absurdly strong on me, probably in thanks to the use of synthetics you mentioned. Either way, love to hear all opinions

Its a great fragrance, but for me was not a love for the first sniff. I love tough the beautiful red orange and how the myrrh and benzoin resinoid are used in Boundless. Great videos as always, Ramsey. Salute from Iași, Romania.

I blind bought Boundless as well. I was so pissed off at what I smelled I kept looking at it sitting with my other Amouage’s (just sitting there! The tenacity!) like a rotten apple tainting my beautiful, carefully curated collection. After a few months I couldn’t take it anymore and sold it off and put the funds to a far superior Amouage. Never once thought about it again except in a few moments of zen-like contentment that I never had to look at that rubbish again.
As you can tell, I feel strongly about the statement the Fish man made with this release: the planting of the flag in the ground that “we have sold our soul for money.”

Thanks for your review! I’ve heard you mention before but I’m not sure I understand what amber woods is that you are referring to 🤷♂️
It’s a tenacious synthetic molecule produced by big chemical companies that can be used to boost the performance of a scent. It smells woody but extremely heady and punchy with a warm tone to it if that makes sense.
FM promise and The Moon are two excellent perfume that utilises this molecule in a responsible and creative way.
The response to your comment by Chin is perfect, I will say Amberwoods smell like the soft part of your nostrils in your nose are being ripped out by harsh synthetic chemicals...I hate them normally...but some niche brands know how to use them in small amounts...but here it was a giant fail as far as I am concerned

I completely agree with you. Amwaj lost creativity and focused on pleasing a larger audience and selling more. I lost the passion for buying Amouage perfumes after 2020, and I am very upset at the discontinuation of very beautiful artistic perfumes while unworthy perfumes are still in production. This is a sad thing for me.
2020 was the year wasn't it... it just took me until 2021 until I finally dropped the dream the Amouage I love is no more 😭😭😭
I have a suggestion for you, try Xejoff K collection - ILM , i absolutely hate xerjoff as a brand and most of their fragrances i find them synthetic messes but this one is just oud, oud and oud, real natural, animalic oud. I think you may like it, not a lot of sweetness but just old fashioned style oud,oakmoss,woods. I would like to see your take on it.

@@RamseytheRam Also Xerjoff Luxor , i tried today and it blew me away, that is very rare.. It's animalic oud, tobacco and incense, smells exactly like a Pharaoh from Egypt.. it's more so something that Amouage would've released in the golden days. absolutely stunning.
I like it, kind of....but I prefer Royal Tobacco too. This one makes me think about Christmas time spent in a wooden lodge in the mountains rented to spend the holidays with some friends, I don't know why. But yes, Enigma wipes the floor with this, it's just a different, superior quality, especially considering what they put in these new Amouage frags that continue to disappoint me. His prices are crazy, but damn, he makes them good, so good.....Cheers, Ram!

When I buy a fragrance I'm always asking, what else could I buy with this money and is it worth it? Will it give me the joy on that level? With sunshine man for example its a clear year. It brightens my day everytime I wear it. With this I have the thought at the back of my head "I could literally buy all good Bogarts, Laliques, Bentleys etc. - probably around 15 fragrances for the same money as one modern amouage...
Yup very well said ... this is where I finally realized the Amouage that I loved is dead and a new Amouage has grown up in its place

Yeah that fits perfectly if you don't have this style... I just don't think it's an Amouage for 2021... lazy IMHO

"Boundless" is one of my favorite Amouage, along with "Interlude" and "Overture".
Although, I won’t deny that the brand has changed a lot and not for the better way, but I really like “Boundless”.
I absolutely agree about the box changes. I have now three the same box, it's really boring.

I blind bought Boundless, wore it once, and traded it for a partial of Oud Sinharaja. Honestly I could have lived with the scent if it lasted at all on me.

I'm just in awe of Mark's work. They aren't all home run bottle buys, but they are all gorgeous art. But I've sampled the whole house, bought full 100ml bottles of Pool Boy and Master, and have Silver, Sea Otter, Ashes, Astoria, Dharan, Tilia, and Orpheus on my want list.
Been waiting on this one for a while. The only Amouage I was legitimately repulsed by when sampling. Too sticky, sickly sweet for my pallet. Cloying. Ironic because this is obviously designed to be "mass appealing". Always appreciate your take, 🐏
Yes meant to be Mass appealing and I guess it did its job... it also repulsed me from the direction of the brand 😭😂

Boundless is my ambrosia, or nectar if you wish, absolutely smitten every time I wear it. It melts my brain. I do think Boundless and Material were the last two worthy releases from Amouage (not counting the opus collection, and with hindsight as I found Material to be "just another amber fragrance" upon release). I still remember when I walked over to the Amouage counter and blindly asked for Search, which had just been released, and the SA started excitedly how it's the freshest release from Amouage ever. And I was just there standing with a puzzled face, "that's a good thing?". But hey, that's all subjective, she probably liked the potential sales numbers.
As far as the review is concerned, I think that the Tobacco Vanille comparison is misleading, it just might give off the wrong impression to someone unfamiliar with both smells, as I find Boundless to be quite apart from Tobacco Vanille. Yes, they share vanilla, they share tobacco, but done in very different ways, almost worlds apart. Boundless is more like a boozy blend of high quality resins, with vanilla and tobacco being just a welcome part of the much broader symphony, it gives a substantially different feel compared to Tobacco Vanille, which is mainly just what the name says, a blast of vanilla and tobacco. The Material - Grand Soir comparison is far more apt. Perhaps Magenta Tanzanite from Armani's privé line, and/or Tabac Exquis by Caron might be better for comparison with Boundless (but still not a perfect comparison), cause they have more of that resinous ambery tobacco vibe. Anyway, hope that was constructive.

Completely off the wall question…. I’m debating between Overture Man and jovoy psychedelique? I know not even close to the same scent. I can only get one for the time being. I got to sample the Jovoy, and I do like it a lot. I’m missing a mainly patchouli centric scent in my collection…. But Overture seems right up my alley. I have Figment, Epic, Memoir, Interlude, Jubilation 25, Sunshine, Royal Tobacco, and imitation (all man). I love Amouage. I’m just scared of the cumin note. I have not been able to find a sample of Overture(Luckyscent has been out for two months now). I do own Roja Enigma parfum for a cognac scent. The only scent I own that has a decent amount of Patchouli is Tony Iommi Monkey Special by Xerjoff(your favorite lol). Thanks for any input.
I would go Overture Man
You can get a patchouli centered scent for cheaper than the Jovoy IMHO

I just didn’t know if it would be kinda redundant if Overture shares similarities to some other Amouages that I have(some reviewers compare it to others). My girlfriend also mentioned I smelled like a grandmother with the Jovoy on(I didn’t get that😂😂). Great review btw… love the honestly. I hate all these reviews that only rave about fragrances and never ever mentioned what they don’t like.
@@RamseytheRam and sorry I’m not giving up my Royal Tobacco for Boundless😂😂😂 best fragrance I’ve smelled since the fish man took over. I do like Silver Oud… may pick up a bottle sometime. It just seems a tiny bit too dry for me. I think I can definitely grow into it.

@@ZachyB98get overture man. It is different from other amouages if you are worried. It is a worrying trend where amouage seems to be discontinuing older releases left and right.
Guess I won’t be getting boundless lol , just got silver Oud & Royal Tobacco .
Yeah if you want my opinion skip Boundless and go for the older more Artistic Amouages

I got into fragrances in 2021 and was never impressed with Amouage, Creed, or Serge. 4 hrs into Boundless is so boring. I wish I could have tried older versions of these houses before reformulations, I'm sure they were great! Sotd Amber Cologne, Bortnikoff...
You can still get older bottles of Amouage and Creed... don't give up trying the older creations especially the ones that are overlooked by most

Got boundless for $144 so passed on tobacco v. My nose is not yet sophisticated enough for Overture Man.

Boundless does not start off as a horrible scent to me in the opening where cardamom and ginger combo is very lively and pleasant. But as it dries down it goes downhill to this generic vanilla+tobacco combo that I would have believed if someone said PDM or Xerjoff made it. Have you smelled the most recent batches of Jubilation 25, Ramsey? I just did couple hours ago and I am just crushed how watered down and underwhelming the current formulation(2023) smells compared to my non mag bottle. Absolutely gutted.
I agree with you on all counts. .. Amouage as a brand is dead to me ... the greatness of Amouage was in its past... the new creative director of Amouage just did an interview within the last day or so... where he claims if doesn't innovate and be creative than who will? And I am like what planet does he live on and does he really believe his own talking points ?! It's crazy
Hey Ram, why don’t they mention Amberwood in the notes?
Well in the original write up they used the term "Golden Woods" which is a euphemism for Amberwoods from my understanding...but almost no brands list amberwoods in the note listing anymore because of the negative connotation it now has
But many modern fragrances have some amount of amberwoods it's just how they are dosed and used

I love amouge i got 7 of thr older bottles so i will love thoes to death i only smelled search and i know its not amouage really but i like it and will get a bottle at discount sites i know you dont like that i believe all others with fish man i have not smelled besides silver oud i will be buying .

There is something about the dry down, lots of heliotrope and vanilla ... I wish it was toned down on the vanilla
Tried some new stuff from amouage and just felt sad after smelling jub 25, great but Weak...
The vintage snap cap jubi XXV was anything but weak.... the greatness of Amouage is in its past IMHO

YES! I hate the new Amouage packaging. There’s too much negative space and none of these designs seem associated with the fragrances they are supposed to be depicting. 🤷♀️
Guidance is a screechy mess, it smells cheap. Like a cheap middle eastern dupe from Lattafa or something. But women seem to love it.

*I am livid that they discontinued Love Mimosa and replaced it with this weak ass Love Delight. Another almond vanilla heliotrope fragrance. Gee. HAVEN’T SMELLED THAT BEFORE! 🤬 🤦♀️
