The first time I watched your video I was unimpressed. I’ve gotten all the expansions, but still haven’t played it. I also have all the GI Joe deck building game expansions. And I got Dune war for Arrakis. 2/3 ain’t bad. 😂 the negatives you talk about at the end are on point.

Thanks Cody! Due to your love of the Deckbuilder and since that was what i was looking for when i ran into this it was an almost intant buy! The reviews were *so* horrible though. Not for the game i just mean the ratio of reveiws to the number of times i had to hear someone intone "Yo JOE!!" for the clicks. *shudder.* Anywho, then i ran into you and with that "just wait" tease, well that did it for me. What does Cody know that i don't? i asked myself. Then realizing that i REALLY didn't have time for an answer that damned *long* i just went out and bought it and MAN am i happy with it! i've just played the one 3 player games so far but it is far and away the best game i've bought in *seven years.* i was worried too because most things when they are Licensed FROM and not BY Hasbro don't work out so well. Like the last couple of shows and comic book series. i loved Operation: Blackout but i realize that's a rarity. Next, i'll definitely be picking up Heavy Damage, then the Deckbuilder. The only thing i don't like is that it was a Kickstarter. That just means i'll have to just deal with knowing i don't have all the pieces. Still totally worth it though! xD

You had me at G.I. Joe. But seriously, based on your review, I’m probably going to have to give this one a try too. I also, enjoy the deck building game quite a bit. I know they are different animals but which one do you think is better this or the deck building game?

@@TheDiscriminatingGamer thanks, that is helpful. As I said, I enjoy the deck building game too. Maybe you should do a strategy video for that game. I feel like I am missing something when it comes to building decks properly for some of the starting characters.
So many G.I. Joe games, and yet another co-op. Maybe, in some golden fairy land, someone will make a sweet dudes-on-a-map games of G.I. Joe Renegades (i.e. the BEST Joe show ever! Not my opinion, it's science). A 2 vs 2 (like Conquest of Nerath): Renegades & Allies vs U.S. Military & Cobra. Whoo, that would irk some people.
Ah, what a magical day that would be.
Perhaps, in the meantime I'm loving what Renegade is doing with the IP. The cooperative element really emphasizes the teamwork aspect of the Joes.

Great game that really has a strong toy box factor.
Really enjoy the G.I. Joe DB game (with both expansions). This game intrigued me but I'm wondering if you found it was a bit thin on replay-ability due to limited core content? Was something I'd heard others complain about? I'd think they have expansion content planned for it but is the core box good value? Thx.
So far I'm enjoying the core box, although the expansion does bring a lot more to the table.
They should make a G.I. Joe board or miniatures game that you use the actual figures to play.
I don't have all my old figures. Would be kinda hard to play.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer I still have some of my old 80's-90's action grip figures--at least the ones my younger brother didn't destroy back in the day. But the rubber bands holding their torsos together have largely disintegrated. And yes, they are quite large for a board game. But I remember making rules to play a game with these back when I was a kid and then forcing my younger brother to play with me.
Yep. All my figures rubber bands are giving out. Alas, poor Firefly (always my favorite).
There was one! The board was something crazy like 9 ft. square but the combat was you roll i roll who got higher on a 1d6. i'm also using a project for programming class that's LIKE that but i intend to use scans of the toys and then give them all point values and have skirmishes like WarHammer 40,000 Kill Team. i can *almost* make a G.I.JOE Kill Team with all the miniatures from G.I. JOE: MIssion Critical! You can make a Cobra one easily but the Boss minis and the foot soldiers are of different scales! :)

I just ordered the GI Joe Deck-Building game -- in part, due to your recommendation. Growing up with the toys and comics, I'm looking forward to the nostalgia. Should I have gotten this instead?
They're very different games. Gun to my head, I like GI Joe Deck Building game more.

Played Star Wars Clone Wars pandemic last night with the game group. This was discussed by the group to add to our group. I do love GiJoe. BTW, How are the miniatures?

This desperately needs some scenarios. Feels unfinished without those. Right now i am creating some characters for a homebrew expansion. Will tackle a few scenarios afterwards

@@variableprime I scribed some ideas for the scenarios, but still haven’t played them. I finished 3 homebrew characters, printed cards and minis, had a blast playing them.
I hope they do something like this for Transformers.
They advertise a Transformers deck builder when you buy this. :)
I was not a fan of the Transformers DBG, but Love The GI Joe DBG.
Are there big differences? G.I. JOE is my favorite "fanverse" but i love the Generation 1 Transformers stuff but some of the "afterstuff", as with G.I. JOE is really pretty bad i know. (My best indicator so far has been to find out if Hasbro HAD something made for them or if someone PAID Hasbro so that they could make it and just use the name. THAT stuff is almost universally bad. i'll look for your review. It will probably take me awhile to hunt down the G.I. JOE deck builder in the wild (remember that's how i just came across this "G.I. JOE: Mission Critical" thing just sitting there like "Hai." So i was like: "I couldn't agree more!" and bought it!) :3
Transformers DBG is an entirely different game.

I'm not that good at mitigation games I guess. I've been playing this solo and keep losing. All my locations get panicked by the time the second Lieutenant comes in. I'm playing the 2 player rules. Maybe I should try playing 4 or 5 player rules solo.
I’ve played three solo. Haven’t yet won solo, but getting close.
Renegade Games has to put more time and resources into the rulebooks. Many of them lately are poor.
I would agree, especially when so many other aspects of their productions are knocking it out of the park.
I saw a great deal on youtube (or U2 as pointed out below.....) fans at walmart today. They really blow hard.
