  • The good folks from Minimaliste in Quebec, Canada recently finished their 7th tiny house build. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure all of their tiny houses have been featured here on The Tiny House Listings CZcams channel. Thanks you guys for sharing!
    This tiny house has pretty much everything thought out and has so many nice touches, like the exposed wood beams, fireplace that changes colors, I could go on and on, but let's leave it there. Enjoy the tiny house tour!

      Its basically an eco friendly house with walls made from recycled materials like old tires packed with dirt, glass bottles and crushed illuminum cans, they normally have a glass wall which most of the time has a greenhouse hallway on the inner side before the actual living space. Sort of like a closed in patio but with glass and has a garden. Water comes from rain water collection syatems which r first used to act as shower/sink water, which goes down a pipe and passes the garden (which waters the plants there) and the remaining water is used to flush ur toilet. When planned carefully can provide heat through the winter and retain cool air through the summer. Some earthships even have this cool idea call earth tubes which are long (plastic?) tubes buried deep in the earth with one end sticking out and the other opening within the house. The air enters through the outer end and cools down due to the all the earth surrounding it and exits into the house several degrees cooler before escaping on the other side of the house through an open window (think cross ventilation). Some earth ships are a bit underground while others can be completely above ground.
      Thats all i can think of rn lol. Theres a lot of earthship tours on yt just search it up.

      Beautiful design and build. The extra width makes all the difference. Most tiny homes are a bit narrower. Loved that it didn’t have lots of converting furniture but a comfortable looking real sofa. With the under stair storage I would want pull out vertical shelves like you get in some pantries for easier access. I also loved that you made that device cupboard so easily accessible. Great work.

    • @prepperjonpnw6482
      @prepperjonpnw6482 Před 5 lety +108

      Most of the time it has to do with height restrictions for a moveable trailer. And the reason you want your tiny house to be classified as a trailer is so you don’t have to pay property taxes for it. If it’s technically a fifth wheel you simply pay for the tags that go on your license plate each year or every 2 years in my state. For example my tags cost me $168 every 2 years as opposed to $1,400 every year if I paid property taxes on my tiny home. I prefer to pay $168 instead of $2,800! There might be other reasons but that was the big one for me.

    I LOVE this home! It really DOES have nearly everything! I esp loved the washer and the separate dryer, complete with a folding shelf! That's pure heaven. The bathroom with the inside access to all of the "brains" to the house, vs having to outside in the frigid air was a fantastic idea! The kitchen is a dream, with a 2nd freezer and oven insert. I'm glad that they have toe kick drawers,everywhere possible! The only 2 things lacking: clothes storage in the bedroom and headroom in the bedroom loft. I really appreciate the flexibility in being able to rearrange the living area and enjoy the large windows and the beautiful wood beams. I'm glad to see that there is a south facing wall and that the north wall has the fewest windows. The radiant floors are so impressive! I can truly see living in this home or the Sakura home. They are both stunningly beautiful and so very well thought out and designed. I have also noticed that 1 of the windows in the loft appears large enough to escape in the event of a fire. I rarely write a review, but this was so nice, I just had to. Thanks Phil, JP, Caroline, and Elyse, who all work so well as a successful team.

If this were for me, I'd make the cabinets go to the ceiling for storage/both sides and it would only be noticeable to someone sleeping in the secondary loft. I don't know what was opposite the foot of the bed in the master loft but I hope it was a nice deep closet/drawers. In the living room I'd have wanted the wall behind the sofa to be full of bookshelves (forcing the sofa out 8") or else there could have been twin built-in bookcases on either side of the (full width) fireplace bump out. A full sized refrigerator freezer rather than two smaller ones and an oven would be a must for people who cooked rather than ate frozen microwave meals. Congratulations on the workshop!

    I love this one! It is on my top favorites list. Since I am a stargazer, the only thing I would want to add if possible would be a skylight in the bedroom above the bed. And, I would want it to work like a moonroof in a car. So, the sky could be viewed at anytime or closed off by pulling a sliding door to close it.

      I was thinking the same thing, but I think that the point is that you would only be sleeping up there and would not notice. It pushes you to get outdoors to enjoy wildlife. However (and I am agreeing with you), what if you hear a loud noise and wake up quickly? Clunk! Maybe you can wear a helmet to bed, or sleep on the couch downstairs. But a really neat tiny home nonetheless. I love it.

    • @emmamacdonald82

    LOVE the living room. So smart! A Tiny House can be whateeeevvver the customer wants it to be and you guys do great work! For awhile I've read some people complain about price or that Tiny Houses have become too "luxurious" but Tiny Houses are not just for hippies, mountaineers, or people who want to live off grid. Phil you're world famous because you guys do great work and you're making your customers super happy! Too bad you guys don't ship to the Caribbean :-(

    • @AndyBebop300
      @AndyBebop300 Před 6 lety +5

      Honestly, people shouldn't complain about price. Obviously some people may want more space depending on their needs. Some people just prefer to downsize but still want certain things in their home. If people are paying for a home, they should get it how they want it, as most people will be living in it for many years.

      I give it a C-. Everything in a tiny house needs to be functional and multipurpose. The fake fireplace serves neither. Total waste of valuable space and money. If some one wants all the glitz and luxury of a normal house, then... they can buy a big house!

    • @AmazingAutist
      @AmazingAutist Před 6 lety +10

      VA2906 R actually it does. The fake fireplace does cutoff genuine heat, and it takes less space than actual fireplace, and you don't have to take actual wood and get fuel for it because it's electrical. It doesn't take a lot of electricity to run either, so it has a rather small carbon footprint.

    • @AmazingAutist
      @AmazingAutist Před 6 lety +15

      VA2906 R if some people want to have a smaller house, but they don't want to have a big house. Who are you to judge them for one to have luxurious items? Stop judging people for their own taste. There's no such thing as a tiny house Elite. Tiny houses are great because they are designed for you, you make them it is your space. People like tiny houses because of the stuff they could do with a smaller budget. Use your soap box to step off of your high horse, and try to get your head out of your ass while you're at it.

Love the finishes & attention to detail. The simplistic European design is perfect to avoid the feeling of clutter. Induction cooktop another great idea for keeping clean lines.
