Nobody has ever used the words “warmup” and “kickflip darkslide” in the same sentence before this video.
Thats breakfast for rodney mullen
@@rollinsalvador8588 😂😂
You never "warmup" with a "kiclflip darkslide" _you were saying_
@@marlenysanchez173 lol I was just about to type that
Yes everyone does that. Example:
For warmup i would never do a kickflip darkslide“ :D
Bro, you should make a compilation of all these tricks in a video.
Albert Mendoza that’s the last video in the series
399th like
Or a montage
Keenan Shaw All in one video?
YEESSS and like go to the same spots and have the same camera angles and the same tricks and like a side-by-side if the two vids in one That would be amazing!!!! Imagine!! I would watch that in a heartbeat!!!
“You don’t know the power of the Darkslide.” ~ Darth Mullen, probably
underrated comment
Let the skate flow through you
"It's not the Darkslide you are looking for"
Lol
Only through my powers will you achieve skateboarding immortality.
After seeing this man's attempts, it is no surprise to me that he's quite skilled at skating. Dude's got heart.
Você tem cara de ser brasileiro, suspeito hein
That’s all skating is, trying tricks over & over & over until you master it
Always thought a giger counter was for measuring radiation, but turns it's used to measure steez!
I was not prepared for the Giger Counter, lost my sht. XD
Measures radness I believe!
GEIGER (not giger) counter is used for measuring radiation

unixfreak this is the comment I was looking for, thank you
I really love the Rodney Mullen inspired stuff such a legend and you execute it very well thanks for inspiring this 40-year-old to still be a skater
I double that 41 and still on it
Everything I have watched or read about him makes it seem like he's still skating.
I love hearing 40 year olds still skating. The way I look at it. All these NFL and NBA players are old running up a court. Why Tf cant we skateboard lol!

I just turned 40 and haven't skated in 20 years. Been watching your videos for about two months now and decided to pick up a board yesterday. Thanks for your videos and your dedication man, it's really inspired me. 🙏
Thats sick mate
I feel for your knees and back. I'm 35 and I just gave my son the board I bought myself a few years ago after watching a bunch of these videos. My knees couldn't take it.
@@zachaliles I feel you pain coming soon man...im 35 also an still skate as much as possible with my 10 year old son..falling sucks so much more now then in your 20s
Being 31 and I haven't skated in 12 years, I picked up a board again after watching Braille for a few weeks. Even with taking falls they still don't affect me.
But I also still know how to take falls and still pretty athletic.
Good luck on your re-found journey on skating.
Chris Winslow Same here brother.
I just turned 32 and have had a break for 12 years, But really getting pumped up again with theese insane vids Giger Keeps pulling out!
1:40 when you tell ur buddies you landed a few darkslides.
kenetic182nd I remember kids at school would do that with their shoes and say that they could skate really well
Fantastic
xXXLIV3FASTxXx that’s kinda sad that they ruined their shoes just for a lie lmao
😂😂🤣🤣
xXXLIV3FASTxXx Posers at they’re finest.
Dude you are a banger and one of my faves for real.
200+ tries, still trying, still smiling and not once did you focus or huck your board.
These new kids need you!
Stay sick homie.
we don't know if he hucked his board or not. Seems impossible not to with 200+.
1:08 the guys peeing back there lmao
YES! I’m glad I wasn’t the only one. Don’t want to raise too many flags bc of the Tube’s reputation for...you know. It was like something out of the Simpson’s, or an old 80’s slapstick comedy. I belly laughed after I rewound and watched again. Like a ghost, or UFO spotting. Sasquatch. Peace!
Appreciate your attention to detail and pointing this out for us to see. Thank you.
Lmao how the hell did you catch that I had to watch it like 8 times before I caught it at the edge of the screen
When you gotta go, you gotta go...
im not peeing, im watering the bushes
2:18 "..and he did it switch as well"
AH OKAY
I like how your darkslide landings were getting more and more consistent, that was definitely the key

Anybody watch skate videos and can’t skate to save their life?
Oh just me....I’ll take the L 🥴
Yo! I am 40 and still think skaters are just some of the most talented people. I still think it is one of the hardest sports. We skated a lot as kids and we were horseshit at it.
Advanced Computer Consulting I completely agree. I have the upmost respect for skaters. It takes a lot of heart/determination. Nothing but love for the skate community.
I've tried on and off throughout my life to skate and it just doesnt click with me like it does for some. I still love watching skate videos though!!
You can skate, anyone can, it just takes some practice and motivation. I am still very new to skating, but by building my way up and I can now ride off of most curbs, and can sorta-manual if I try really hard.
If you can't get the trick down, take a break for a little bit and come back to it later. Some day I feel very confident, some days I feel less, but I still skate for the day.
You just gotta do baby steps.
i ride bmx
I've been a huge fan of Rodney Mullen since 1992. He's the one who inspired me to start skating way back then. I unfortunately had some things happen in my life and I dropped skating for 20 years. I started watching you 2 years ago. You inspired me to start skating again. Means alot to me. You have so much insane talent, dedication, and passion for skating man. I'm always excited to see you rip! You're definitely one of the greats!!
I like how you show all your attempts until you not only land it for the first time but, until your can land them clean until they're consistent. You're a true master of your craft.
That one friend that says “1 more time” but gets it only after 239
dude you did so many lands that other people woulda been satisfied with, but you kept on going for the perfect one. Giger is a true skate G.O.A.T
Bad. Ass.
Let this be a lesson for everyone. Doesn't matter what you do, you gotta try and try again until you're happy and satisfied. 230 failures is an accomplishment because you didn't quit. You didn't let the trick defeat you. Your determination won out.
Jonny, this will sound corny, but I just turned 32 and I rode a skateboard for the first time in at least a decade for the heck of it. I could still Ollie. After I did that, a handful of kids ran up to me and wanted me to teach them how. One of them popped a legit Ollie. Your videos get me pumped and want to pick up skating again. Thanks!
i really enjoy the fact you put a realistic counter the amount of attempt this took you to learn yourself. this gives kids a much more realistic expectation of how long something is going to take and the dedication and hard work needed.
Giger, you are such an inspiration, man. You had a bunch of makes in there that anyone would have taken. But not Jonny “NOT GOOD ENOUGH” Giger. Your pursuit of perfection is super inspiring.
Your dedication to the mastery of Rodney Mullen is genuinely touching.
9:34 my character when I keep restarting from checkpoint in skate 3
Dude 🤣
the tre darkslide was cool, but damn those flat ground tricks at the end were really sweet.
Can somebody tell me the names of those tricks?
@@gert-janclaes3001 there late flips for the most part
That's why rodney will forever be the greatest...these tricks and almost all freestyle tricks were invented by him. His creativity allowed for this sport to even progress.
1:07 : Well, when you gotta go...
another epic trick landed congrats! now a lazer flip darkslide for the next time!

Dude you rock! Cheers from Cali! I miss skating, but 51 now and my old injuries all caught up to me, no boarding for me anymore sadly but great to see you guys out there rockin it! Keep pushin it and having fun for us who can't bro! \o/ You're really accurate with your footwork, it's so cool!
I feel you. I'm 41 and my back just can't take it anymore. It's a sad reality when your body physically can't keep up anymore, but I'm here to celebrate skateboarding however I can. Stoked to see people still chasing Rodney's tricks this many years later.
Love you guys!!im 47 busted up 2 but still love to cruise around.maybe hook a few slides.sk8orDieDudes
A new fan, by the time you were in the 230s it felt so clean and exhilarating to see you land them. Bravo.
maan this is insane perfectionism, a bit like andrew reynolds but jonny doesnt have those anger issue xD.. too likeable this dude
This was amazing!!
I’m currently battling it and today will be day 3 I’m not doing it the Mullen way I have my right foot in the middle of the board but just the fact that it’s an epic trick I think it’s safe to say Mullen would be proud.
Hyped you landed it man and you did it more than once 🙌🏻
Imagine how many times Rodney tried different variations of this trick before he landed it on camera. Man was a skate machine.
Rodney Mullen is such an og, this is a whole series now like 20 years later
1:50 when u tell ur friends u can darkslide
Oh god, the camera sensor is very disgusting 😂
Props to this guy showing us what it actually takes to do even one trick. I love it so much more than just a clip of the trick
I LOVE the "Giger Counter" You have to bring that back, too funny.
Skaters learn to keep going in the face of feeling constant failure
yessir
Wow! That’s a hard trick. Rodney is fast! Seems like his slow motion is giger’s normal speed 🤙🏼
Watching u skate and being so determined to land ur tricks inspired me to go out in the stormy weather and try something new. Spent 2 h and then finally landed my first Nollie varial heel! Never tried it before but with the inspiration I got from u I actually made it!! ❤
Way to persevere man. That was amazing patience. I love the old rodney mullen videos, he's my favorite by far.
Bruh that skatepark is near my college.
I am shook.
That ledge is where I learned to boardslide, surreal to see jonny there, it's such a random park.
imagine a 8 year old kid just does it on then rail in the backround
Man I don't even skateboard. I just like watching it, but it's cool how you show how hard you worked on these tricks. Difficult not to be inspired by this stuff. GG!

This "Mullen Trick" is one of most difficult ever! Rodney Mullen must be an alien, no way! Congrats, Giger! Making history possible hahah
8:33 is so hilarious!!!

Keep killing it Jonny! Awesome video as always!
man, i like how he stays calm about messing up and perseveres anyway
Your commitment to a smooth landing is impeccable. Glad you made the vid, you deserve mad props! And camera mans Backfoot tricks were a killer finish!

Oh man you wanted to land 131 so bad. It hurts when you can feel it coming so close. EXCELLENT WORK!
Anybody else would kill to get a flukey darkslide, Mr Giger spends all day executing sick darkslides with a variety of tricks in. Nice job as always dude!
You put counter! Helll yea dude👊🏽

First time watching. Loved it! Made me remember how hard I tried to learn 360 flips on their own. I miss skating every day. I'm gonna live vicariously through you sir. Thankyou for this video
Not only you did it, but also you did 240 perfect tre flips. That's sick!
This shows just how good Rodney Mullen is. And how dedicated Jonny is.
Jonny is a beast, dude is seriously dedicated!
Seriously I find it so dope that you're recreating some of Rodney Mullens greatest tricks! You are damn good to be able to pull them off
This guy's dedication is amazing. Most skaters only show themselves landing the tricks. This guy shows what it's really like to skate
KEEP THE GIGER COUNTER. Its excellent.
5:20 dude in the back is like "how tf did he do that" lmao
first time watching, this guys is so CLEAN. all his tricks look so smoth.
You are an incredibly dedicated athlete my friend. I find this stuff sooooo entertaining, thanks man

I love how you don't settle for sketchy! Most of this skateboarding generation lands a trick sketchy once and goes around telling everyone they learned a new trick.
Flickandpray is the new way of skating
Dude just stfu
Such persistence and commitment🔥mad respect 💪🏽
Your persistence just earned you another sub, awesome vid man
I feel like Mullen was going faster. Maybe some more speed could help you
Exactly my thoughts, not enough momentum.
I hate to say but he never does tech tricks at speed. They just look sketchy when done at .5 miles per hour. Put a little speed in and smooth it out!
@@palehorse1511 right and Tony Hawk didn't land a 900 on flat ground standing still. Or even moving 5 miles an hour for that matter.
Speed and momentum give you a lot of benefits for breathing room while doing the trick
You try doing a tre-flip darkslide. Bet you won't be flying at the ledge, speed racer.
@@alexraia1377 I would try but I can't keep a board under my feet..... which is which I strap a bigger one on and use snow and gravity.

I respect the struggle. The counter was sick. People dont often think about how many tries it takes to get these higher level tricks on lock. Not to mention how many times you have to land it sketchy before you get clean footage.
The dedication is amazing!
Finger flip dark slide?😯
Dude, what's the song @ 11:10? I love it!
Hope someone knows
Johnny I've watched you come so far brother , I'm a fellow skater and u my have just set a whole new bar. this video reveals it even more. without disrespecting other greats I will say this , Johnny is in the top 5 world's best skaters in our time. much love brother be safe , live modestly and humble , when u reach old age ur life will not be weighed with mistakes it will be lifted by honor and respect. peace bro
Dude, you really keep it constant! Respect.
Did you guys missed the kid taking a leak in the backround @ 1.07? :D
Its crazy to think Mullen could just walk up and do it first try clean as hell too
Well, he probably failed a billion times before he got it first time.
I love watching pro's and just really good skaters fail and fail and finally get one trick way more than watch just a trick video. give me hope!
Love the dedication man! 👍killed it! 🤘
