Am I the only one who thinks Alastor somewhat grew to care about Charlie and the gang (except Lucifer and husk) and still has the chance to change? He has his own ulterior motives but he even admitted before the final battle that he could get accustomed to being around them
The scene with Nifty really proves this. I hope that the favor Charlie has to do is to free Alastor from whoever own him (probably Lilith)
idk given alastor's past I wouldn't be surprised if he does in fact turn on the hotel in some way. Not necessarily destroying it but maybe sabotaging it or trying to gain power over it because of his own selfish desires. We have a while until s2 to theorize tho
I agree with you completely
I think he has grown fond of them. That does not mean he has a change of heart, or that he is loyal to the hotel. It's like when you get a shitty job but the people there are ok.
I think he's in the process of growing to care about them, but he might not be there yet. I think he's still mostly self-interested for now. I think he might be being built up to be the final villain, or maybe the reluctant right-hand man to the final villain if Roo really is the Root of Evil, but the influence of Charlie and the others throughout the series will cause him to do a heel-face turn. I think redemption may actually be the back door to any soul contract, the way for Alastor to finally be free.
I think Alastor didn’t realize he was getting attached. He seemed surprised and disgusted he almost “died for his friends.”
or dsgusted by the idea that people think he would have done so
to me it sounded like he was almost laughing at the idea of him going out in such a comically altruistic way
he wasnt suprised nor disgusted. Hes not getting attached at all did you even watch the show? he looks at them like at his meat for slaughter and is thirsting over their destruction. He stayed for Adam to fight for his ego he wanted to leave way before in that scene he was losing it because he cant murder as much and in such a masses as he did before and hes addicted. His deal forbids him from it he wants to get out and kill them all since attached is absolutely not whats happening there in the slightest lol
I definitely see Alastor shaping up to be a great Season 3 villain and the ultimate test of Charlie's philosophy of redemption.
You mean season 2?
@@Dingus_mcblingus i think season 2 will still be about the exorcists. Then season 3 about Alastor.
@@RoyalRoses season 3 isn't confirmed, and season 2 is still in the making and will drop in 2025, it's not good to get your hopes up so early
@@Dingus_mcblingustrue, however I think vivzie said she wanted a three season show so that does give some hope for a third season
@@Dingus_mcblingusit’s not really hopes it’s kinda logical, it’s common in many 3 season long cartoons (vivzi has said the story is about s3) shows to have a villain for s1 and 2 while the final villain remains as part of the cast or a side character
Ever since we learned that Alastor sold his soul, I could finally clock a motivation for him. He fears being powerless and the danger that would put him in and thus will do anything to get the power needed to keep himself safe. The only time we ever see someone truly rattle him with something they said is Husk reminding him of his own weakness. Why he fears that is what interests me now.
I agree what he really desire it is freedom and safety, but he believes he can get only by being on top and in control.
@@Sifya He's basically a Sith Lord. "Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken."
I think he sold his soul for immortality (beyond that of a standard sinner) he will leave a fight against his will before dying.
But he now regrets this because he can't truly help the hotel and his friends.
@@dww6Doubt it, he said in his song that he was almost killed. That already prove that he isn't immortal and I doubt he really care for anyone based how he treated husk.
Whatever deal Alastor made, I get the feeling that Charlie is get him out of it.
but would that be a good thing?
@@Ricardo_Rick probably not, because hardly anything good ever goes right when making a deal with alastor.
my theory is that Alastor is going to use the deal he made with Charlie to get out of the deal he made when whomever he made it with
@@cadlyn that’s what I’m thinking because she owes him for that information
Yeah the favor he wants is probably to get out of his deal.
Alastor also trusts Charlie to the point where he gives her his staff in Episode 7, which is HUGE for him, because Episode 8 shows that his staff is the source of his power. I think he cares about Charlie as a friend, and he doesn't like it, because he feels that caring about others is a weakness.
His staff isnt the source of his power, when it breaks. His voice loses the radio effect due to his surprise. Hes taken it off multiple times in the show
7 years for Al, 7 sinners defending the hotel, 7 years for Lilith. 777 manifests heaven......
holy crap
Seven for the dwarf lords, in their halls of stone. (Couldn't help myself).
7 deadly sins

I never saw him as someone who wanted to control everything.
But I guess if he becomes king, he’ll be able to make a circus in his own image.
When the lady in ep dad beat dad the way alastor was shown is like he is the whole circus but since he lost some of his power he can do what he usually does and since he made deal with Charlie that will hunt Charlie in the future
See, I personally think that he doesn’t want to become king… but rather a royal advisor for Charlie. It’s a much easier path to power than simply flat out, trying to overthrow the king of hell.
The thing is, as a sinner, Alastor isn’t able to leave the Pride Ring, so being king wouldn’t do much for him.
i mean y'all don't think he took down all those ancient overlords as an act of goodwill, did you? of course he wants to be in control of all of hell. he was a serial killer in life and possibly even came to believe that lucifer, unable to prevent his accidental death at the hands of a hunter who stumbled upon his body disposal, is incompetent and hell needs someone more skilled, ruthless and conniving at the helm. he may have seen ingratiating himself with charlie as a way to uncover a means of toppling lucifer - so while he doesn't necessarily care about the success of the hotel because he doesn't believe sinners can be redeemed, he does want charlie under his control.
@caloysarip9753 Hell is a circus, Lucifer proves this from his design and ring tone, same with Mammon. Hell is a giant entertainment industry, in a way it tells you alot about real life, how you get people under you to gain power or sign deals with high prices to get what you wanted
I think this is a case of Alastor originally planning to betray Charlie but being unable to stop himself from growing close to them. As in, he wants to betray them but it will be a question of whether he can bring himself to do so.
that would be incredible! ❤ perhaps that is when he asks Charlie the favor: he's grown to care for them all too much to carry out his original deal and he needs Charlie to get him out of the contract.
It will depend whether the cost of the betrayal is him having the opportunity to break his soul contract. The Alastor we know now, would certainly take the opportunity, but we will have to see what happens in season 2.
I think alastors smile is stiched, because you can see stiches on his smile when he was making a deal with charlie
aw man, so it's forcing him to smile?
Just what I thought, seems forced, might be part of that deal he made or permanent part of his hell form
whatever it means,I hope we learn more about that part in the future
The placement of those stitches would close his mouth
Look closely at the pattern of the stitches. If anything, they're PREVENTING him from smiling even more not the opposite
Anyone else feel like Alastor’s growing to care for the Hazbin Hotel residents?(He did call them his friends during his part in *Finale)*
Even before the final battle he even said he could get accustomed to hanging around them
Exactly he’s capping I think he is just as strong as the morning stars but he’s strangth is stolen by Lilith who was just a human when she hooked up with Lucifer
Does he really love the hotel? Or does his deal with Lilith make him be her guard dog?
In the Finale I Think he Was mocking That idea,
"If I Died here, This is What people Would have Thought." sorta Way.
While he Does think Of them Positively, not Sure how Much he Considers them Friends.
I don't think he actually meant it. If youre referring to "altruistic Alastor dying for his friends" It felt more sarcastic and less genuine.
He might on some level enjoy their company, but I don't think as of episode 8 he actually cares for them.
I dont think Alastor is actively trying to sabotage the hotel yet. It seems like he's still in the "play nice" phase, or he wouldn't have introduced Charlie to Rosie and the Cannibals. He could have let the hotel fail right thwre and then if thar was his deal, but I think his deal is to watch over Charlie and keep her alive
Absolutely. Also the show has TWICE showed us that Alastor is actually very loyal: Rosie says "Alastor has never done me wrong before" and we learn that Mitzy only turns up when she needs help and Alastor always obliges to the point where Mitzy is shocked when he finally puts his foot down and firmly but kindly tells her to stay away from the Hotel unless she wants to try her hand at redemtion. One of the themes of the show is "actions speak louder than words" and despite Alastor's reputation, threats, and mocking the aim of the Hotel, his actions have been very helpful.
@samanthapoynter913 OH, don't get me wrong. I'm still convinced he's going to be the shoe's BBEG (hence why I called it the play nice *phase*), I just think his deal is more specific than was stated in the video.
It's interesting, I wonder if part of his deal is... he isn't allowed to take souls. he obviously has husk and Niftys souls, but it sounds like he got that before his disappearance. But during the whole season, he's been offered up multiple times for possibilities to take someones souls, and he refused them every time. why NOT take charlies soul. why just a favor? if he had her soul, he doesn't need to have JUST a simple favor. Rosie gave him a tip on a deal. he refused it. Vaggie said something along the lines of not giving him her soul, he wasn't even thinking about it.
"the restraints of my deal" line makes me wonder if Lilith crippled him this way, since overloards powers seems to be coming from these soul deals.
If it Was for Charlie's soul, Charlie may Not have Accepted.
before Making the Deal, Charlie Made clear it Wouldn't be For her Soul.
@@dr.blockcraft6633 I don't disagree, and it's a very real probability that you're correct. BUT, food for thought. Why not go for the big prize first? and if she says no, then dial it back. She was desperate at that point, at her most likely to make a bad decision.
Edit: one thing I do have to disagree with. She does NOT make it clear the deal wouldn't be for her soul. She says she'll do anything; always the magic words. And listen to the line delivery on "you want my soul?". She isn't defiant. She's nervous. Possibly nervous that she might be willing to agree.
@@caitlinc3783It may also be part of his deal that he’s not allowed to harm Charlie specifically. If his deal is with Lilith as many have theorized, it is likely that Charlie is a part of the deal in some way.
That's a very good theory, it would explain why his wings are "clipped" since he can't continue to grow in power if he can't collect souls. If he had been collecting souls all this time, he might have been able to defeat Adam, and that's why he was losing his mind because he almost died due to the restrictions of the deal.
@@kalamari3288 Could be! because if I'm being honest, I don't totally buy that Lilith is betraying her family. From what it looks like, both Charlie and Lucifer still love her. Considering we're lacking a lot of info though, it's just a few scattered theories. So it would make sense that that would be why Al doesn't take her soul. But there's still everyone else. Even Mimzy says he hasn't done any of his murder-y stuff in a while.
I can see hes slowly caring but then again he would be the person to stop himself from caring too much because he has a goal and that’s to try to get out of his deal with whomever it is.
I definitly wanna see more interactions between Al and Lucifer, now that both (presumably) live in the hotel (you can see respectively a tower on the right and left that resembles Alastor and Lucifer). They would be hilarious, now that Lucifer is so much more closer to Charlie. And how will Alastor use that, now that he has a contract with Charlie?
I hope Lucifer and Husk are gonna bond over their shared hatred of Alastor
It’s good that Lucifer is there though considering how Alastor might turn on Charlie. Showdown or not “you take no shits from any demon”
A key thing was his conversation with nifty. He seemed to genuinely miss having a bond like the others had. He misses HIS friends and by his photo during the last song those friends were Vox and Rossy.
7 years ago I think Alastors was out soul collecting when he visited someone he sees on tv and got tricked losing his. His new boss says they are leaving town. Vox sees him on the street and asks him to join only to say no because of his deal. Thinks about WHY Vox would want Alastors even knowing his dislike for video cameras unless his extreme hatred towards it was new; he disliked it but to that degree was new. Vox wouldn’t fight someone he’s trying to recruit so Alastors attacks Vox to hide that he lost control over his soul then losses.
Wszystko dobrze poza ostatnią częścią. Było powiedziane w odc 2/3 że Al prawie zabił Voxa
Um, how would Lucifer react since he also
has no clue that his own flesh and blood
of a daughter made a deal with Alastor?
*pulls out even bigger golden fiddle*
@@esteemedmortal5917 He'll call for backup from Georgia.
I think hell is full of devil lawyer that they can help
Not for her soul
I mean could he ask her to give her soul as the favor. Technically that ask would not hurt anyone.
It would make sense that Lilith would want Charlie to fail. Each soul redeemed would mean the loss of a bit of Lilith’s power.
Maybe Lilith is waiting for Charlie to lose hope, like her father originally did. Once she loses faith in her cause she may awaken her true demonic powers.
I think on some level there is a part of Alastor that does feel some fondness for Charlie, but he sees that as a weakness and hates it, so the longer this mysterious deal goes on, the more it’ll tear at his ego and sense of superiority.😥
Also, I love that Lucifer and Husk aren’t happy to see Alastor for obvious reasons.😂😂😂
In episode 7 he admits that he does like the hotel staff and residents and is enjoying himself before he goes to meet Charlie.
In episode 8, he sings that he almost died for his friends.
You bringing up the possibility that Lilith contacted him to sabotage the hotel is very interesting and i think it could line up.
Early on(pilot to mid season 1), he's just constantly mocking Charlie as if he's trying to discourage her.
His ad for the hotel basically boils down to "this place sucks and has no possibility of success."
When Charlie calls Lucifer to help, he becomes antagonistic to Lucifer.
Al has been constantly sabotaging the hotel, until the latter half of the season. From the end of episode 5 onward, Alastor is even going out of his way to help her and prop her up. Telling Mimzy, his friend, that they're still cool but she isn't allowed to bring trouble to this hotel, specifically.
He tells Charlie how to defeat the angels, he helps her organize an army by encouraging her to use her own persuasive ability, and he fights to near death to defend the hotel.
Upon reaching his radio tower he _does_ seem surprised and amazed that he almost died *"for his friends"* and then immediately switches to trying to think of a way out of his deal.
This makes it seem like he was contracted to destroy the redemption project without killing Charlie, which is something he would have delighted in doing, until he stayed there for a few months and had a change of heart.
I feel like in season two it will have a lot more V’s moments and possibly a Vox vs Alastor (either a flashback or a newer battle)
I hope vox and valentino dies and velvvet gets redemption.
@@karmagaming2098 I'd actually prefer if only valentino dies. Keep vox and velvette alive
I'm betting that season 2 will open with a flashback!
I don’t think Alastor’s gonna betray Charlie, during his segment of the Happy day in hell reprise he says “Great Alastor altruist died for his friends”. He looks genuinely shocked and confused that he almost sacrificed his life for everyone.
I believe he said that as hyperbole. Is if he couldn’t believe that’s how he almost died, and that’s inevitably people would be saying about him.
I think its something alien to him, caring about people and he shocked with himself, like it's out of character for him. I think he's panicked because he's dealing with what he sees as a weakness, which is the care he has developed and he's going ti have to come to terms with that development.
y'all are reading too much into this. put quotation marks around it, " 'great alastor altruist died for his friends' ? sorry to disappoint, that is not how this ends." he's mocking the idea that he would ever lay down his life for any "friends", you would think the fact that he sarcastically calls himself an altruist would make that clear.
@dietotaku I'm reading as he's shocked that he made such a move and mocking himself, however, it's more so in a sense of "am I actually starting to care?" And he's terrified of that because he probably sees relationships and friends as a weakness. There's definitely some internal conflict. But even mockingly he still called them his friends. I think he's slowly starting to care and he can try fighting that all he wants to, but I think at the end of it all, he will sacrifice himself. I think that would be an awesome narrative irony if that is forshadowinf
@@dietotaku The "sorry to disappoint, this is not how it ends" is because Alastor didn't die. But he almost did and that scares him. He knew he was no match for Adam but he still decided to fight him. And in that moment he apparently didn't view the others as a tool to whatever goal he has but as his friends.
My theory is that whatever the deal Al has made, it is limiting his power and controlling him. With evidence from the lines “I'm hungry for freedom like never before. The constraints of my deal surely have a backdoor” and the stitches on his face that shows his smile. A question I have is what was Al’s side of the deal?
I think his deal closed something. Put a limiter on Al's power making it either stuck or weaker. I think that constant shadow behind Alastor always making independent actions and moves might be a representation on the power that is laying dormant or stuck.
it's not evidence of that at all. About backdoor, he is looking for a loophole to get out of his contract. As for being hungry for freedom, i think it has something to do with making a deal with Charlie. He wants to use her favor to break free, and since he is very close, he is more excited to be free.
Or maybe the stitches are just like that of a creepy voodoo doll... You know kind of part of his aesthetic?
Also what would he be getting out of a deal that limits his power its one of the few things he cares for?
Probably kinda like Husk.
"I sold my soul to save my power" and all that
I think his side was to get power
Alastor wants power.
What's more powerful to a soul than redemption and access to heaven... instead of risking erasure.
Taking over Hell openly would paint too big a target on Alastor rather I think his plan is to become Charlie's right hand man. A high position where he could control people and events from her shadow without much risk to himself. Once he's freed from his contract and Charlie has tapped into more of her potential (as Al put it) there would be few who could touch him.
That’s my thought. I think he wants to control and manipulate Charlie because he knows she’s going to be very powerful, more powerful than he is…I think that’s why he also got in the fight with Lucifer and dislikes him so much. He wants to shape and mold Charlie into his own puppet. I do think he cares about her on a level too, but it’s…twisted. And if you KNOW you can’t ever have as much raw power as her, the next best thing is to be the one controlling her
It’s crazy, his smile really does work because it’s hard to tell when he is actually struggling. He even puts on a smile when nobody else is around
Alastor wants to puppet Charlie by gaining her trust. He nearly says so in the plot finale. He talked about how he can use her in the song with Rosie and that he needs to unclip his wings to pull all the strings. Be a puppet master and also use Charlie's favor to help him get out of his shackles.
Agreed!
I think Alastor's meltdown is particularly interesting because up to that point, he seems so wildly confident, even challenging Lucifer albeit not through combat obviously. I think it's likely that he believed he had enough power to defeat Adam right up until the moment his staff was broken and he got injured, forcing himself to face his own "mortality" and realize he isn't as powerful or in control as he thought, especially since Adam was not a particularly strategic or intelligent character. He may not have realized how much his deal had constrained him, or thought that it was in his favor up until that moment, increasing his desperation to be rid of it quickly now that dying seems like a real possibility.
To me it always felt like he was ashamed of people thinking he died for his friends. Like it was insulting and he was above their friendship
Idk it never truly felt like he cared 🤷🏽♀️
I think he cares but he is really afraid about. He sees love as weekeness. Well if he is not main villain I think we get alastor respise out of love!
@@Sifya That could be it. It would also be very in character for him to act like that
Yeah, it sounded more like "Alastor died for his friends? Ha! No chance."
@@jonnyb.animationstutorials7119 Exactly! Especially since there was a shot of Sir Pentious' memorial immediately after. To me that was intentional to show the difference.
@@kkmjpkj7739 They did fix his radio tower though, likely as a memorial to him, since they thought he was dead.
Cartoon universe are you having a identity crisis? , Why are there six yous in the chat
here is a food for thought, alistor made a deal with charlie to cash in a favor at an unspecified later date that doesnt involve hurting someone, seeing how he waited until charlie could basically not afford to refuse its pretty safe to assume its tied to a hole in his deal, he either wants her to bail him out, or whats more likely take his souls place (he didnt make a deal for charlies soul, cuz whoever holds his leash could just take it from him)
Maybe Lilith sent Alastor to help Charlie, however the deal constricts him from using his full power? Probably because if he did, something might be revealed to Charlie that Lilith doesn't want her to know
The trouble with being power behind the throne is what Jafar discovered in Aladdin - the advisor is always pushed aside for a prince. Therefore, Jafar Plan B was to BECOME the prince. If Alastor ingratiates himself sufficiently, he can use the favor from Charlie to ask for a marriage of convenience. Purely political. Her loving relationship with Vaggie stays intact, and Alastor becomes the Prince of Hell - with all the attendant power. He can sweeten the idea by convincing Charlie that as an insider, he's the one who can get his hands dirty preventing the Vs from overturning the established order of the overlords - avoiding a ring-wide turf war and the ensuing chaos which would threaten the hotel. He'll have to both ask her to intervene when Lucifer understandably goes ballistic, and eventually persuade her that the Prince of Hell shouldn't be on anyone's leash - something Lucifer could (reluctantly) rectify. And a precedence for a mortal sinner attaining high position in Hell's hierarchy exists - Lilith. As Prince of Hell, Alastor would undoubtedly take a more active role outside the hotel - perhaps even as a counter to Charlie's efforts. If he continued to increase power by obtaining souls, then fewer sinners would have their souls available for redemption.
Love your thoughts on this! Here is a thought and would like to know ur opinion.
Yes I am 99.9% sure his deal is with Lilith, but who is to say angels can’t also make deals. Just wondering if there could be some angels pulling some strings.
@@chicgeek6728 That's an interesting idea. If he did make a deal with an angel - I could see it being Sera or another very high level Seraphim. She was incredibly evasive during the court sequence, beyond trying to cover up the mere existence of the extermination, especially when Emily questioned her at the end. Whenever someone tells a person not to question a decision because they don't know all the facts, and then insinuating punishment would result from their questions, there is generally something they are hiding. Ironically, Heaven is turning out to be sketchier than Hell.
A lot of people seem to ignore the small detail of stitches present when Alastor makes the deal with Charlie (as seen at 3:29). These stitches seem to be the reason why Alastor has to keep smiling, as his face it stitched into a smile presumably by whoever owns his soul.
To me, it looks like it's just keeping his mouth closed. If it looked like it was pulling the ends of his mouth up then that would have been more clear. But it is possible it's the stitches.
I can see it as him probably doing it to himself
i think they are going to play on the way the deal between Charlie and Allister was worded by having him twist his own words to be "one little favor, at a time, of my choosing" having Allister holding it over Charlies head later and vaggy sayin i told you so
Everyone wants to see the good in alastor, but the dude is an evil psychopath who’s killed many innocent people, and not to mention is basically a slave owner. He’s still the best character but he’s not a good person, and if they make him a good person that kinda ruins him. One of the things that make him cool is that he’s a mysterious force of evil looming in the hotel for mysterious evil reasons. And not fake evil that doesn’t really matter and you can still like him, I mean real evil.
Yep. He's just an extremely charismatic and witty evil psychopath. That's why he's so fun! But yeah, I think he's in it for #1 just like all psychopaths and is willing to say or do whatever to get his way. Even if that means playing nice and feigning loyalty.
Like can we bring back liking bad/evil character just because of that. You don't need to like like their personality you know, but like like because the way they are written
Agreed!
@CentipedeGuy I agree with you I’m getting rather annoyed by how many people want him redeemed or think he can be a good person and just others excusing things he’s done
If Alastor screws over Charlie in anyway, he will find out just how powerful Lucifer truly is and he will know true fear
If Alastor wants to be the ruler of hell, the shortest path to it would be a marriage of convenience with Charlie. It would immediately raise his status from an overlord to a prince. And Charlie wouldn't hurt anyone, provided that emotional damage does not count. Thus, Vox tastes ultimate defeat, Lucifer and Lilith are flabbergasted, but the Hotel and, probably, the rest of hell are ok.
And of course, Vaggie won't be able to become Charlie's spouse, but it does not mean that they will have to end their relationship. Heck, they don't even need to hide their love, because it's hell and nobody cares.
It is not the best of all possible outcomes for the crew, but it is not the worst either. Although, I am pretty sure that it won't happen, as it lacks drama, pain, betrayal and other things we are so hyped up about.
Oh, it doesn't lack drama. Alastor as Prince of Hell would still be a power hungry sociopathic narcissist. He would definitely seek to control all the overlords, but more importantly, would try to increase his power by obtaining more souls - placing him in direct conflict with Charlie. Sinners who surrender their souls to Alastor wouldn't have them available for redemption. Most extreme betrayal scenario, he'd overreach by deciding one ring of Hell was not enough and attempt to become King of Hell by usurping Lucifer.
I would love to see that Alastor's breaking point like "Oh screw the deal I want to make chaos!!!". It was sung that "When he finds out the way to unclip his wings, he will be the one pulling the right strings"
I feel like this part of the song has a different meaning. He said that he almost died because he was defending his "friends" and that he might've started getting attached to them and forgot that his main goal was to cut the deal he made. He also didn't seem hostile as he seemed actually happy (or at least satisfied) in the cannibal colony where everyone around understood and liked him. It also showed that maybe Al didn't really hate Lucifer but maybe just tried to get on his nerves after what Lucifer did to him (disrespect and just bad taste towards Alastor).
So in a nutshell: Alastor doesn't want to betray Charlie as she's needed for him to cut the deal. He might slowly start seeing the pros of Charlie's character and become a good person at the end of the series. Yes, he was a bad person but his attachment started getting stronger and stronger so he won't just betray them (+ he sees potential everywhere). In the pilot he was probably lying about him joining the hotel for entertainment (and maybe not) as he's kind of a "punisher" person who is fair towards everyone unless they show him that they deserve a punishment (such as the butcher in alastor's comic)
a reason he always smiles could br cuz his mouth is stitched to force him smiling, during his deal with charlie he transforms a bit with all the little green things happening but when they shook hands you could see stitches on alastors mouth prob forcing a smile
Except stitches are generally used to keep a mouth shut (even in modern mortuary practices - the stitches are hidden inside). Shrunken heads are another example. The practice is also used to prevent the dead from divulging secrets.
@@strawberryhellcat4738 Right but people can smile with their mouth closed. But the stitches to keep the dead from telling secrets is an interesting point. While the stitches don't look like they are the thing keeping him smiling, I do think he's forced to smile whether he wants to or not. If everyone has something they hate about themselves in hell, his smile might be that thing. Maybe it's a reminder of how powerless he is. He's so powerless he can't even control his own face.
@@suicune2001 It actually would be in character for him to take a physical aspect forced upon him and claim it as a personal choice instead.
@@strawberryhellcat4738 Yep, he would absolutely try to own that and try to pretend it's all a very calculated ploy. When in reality, it drives him nuts.
We've been considering that Alastor made a deal with Lilith seven years ago. What if his craving for power caused him to take a run at her instead? She walked out on Lucifer, and isn't a Hellborn, but a mortal sinner like Alastor. The end result of the conflict could have been the pair running to separate entities to recover. Lilith seeking out Adam for protection in Heaven, and Alastor turning to Roo. It's also apparent that Lucifer really doesn't like Alastor by the fact that the newly built hotel has one window completely destroyed - the window closest to Alastor's radio studio.
i don't think alastor could have such powers, lilith is the whole reason sinners have powers and she is like one of the first sinners if not the first.
@@karmagaming2098 True, Lilith is the first sinner, but it doesn't appear the majority of sinners actually have powers - only those who have discovered their niche either by obtaining souls and/or offering something the general populace wants. Alastor is a narcissist, and his ego outweighs his power (he could have fought Adam with angelic blades wielded by his tentacles, but didn't). With Lilith outside of Lucifer's sphere, he may have foolishly believed she had less power. Of course, this could also be "Deathnote" levels of overthinking the plot.
Oh weird. I didn't notice that about the new hotel. Good catch! I wonder if that's also why Alastor's tower looks sad.
Maybe, just maybe. Eve and roo are two separate entities living in the same body, ofc there isn't any evidence to support this claim but it'd be fun to imagine that roo works similarly to alastor's shadow demon of some sorts where it takes control of eve whenever it likes.
My theory is that Alastor's deal may restrict him to only using his powers for the benefit of others. Note that the only time he's attacked anyone using his abilities has been in defense of the hotel, thus protecting Charlie's interest. It also explains why he immediately ran to the hotel and insisted on helping in the pilot.
Personally i like the idea that roo is a manifestation of hells soul energy it would explain the eyes and the two silhouette that we see in the first scene a white roo for heaven and goodness a red one for hell and when souls gather or are destroyed they gain more power together they are one creator and that explains were the creator of the universe in hazbin hotel is even if the angels crated earth it never mentions that they created heaven and just because a tenant puts up a wall doesnt mean they built the house.
One detail is that after receiving Adam's attack Alastor's voice loses the radio effect and he speaks normally, indicating even his radio demon thing could be just a persona
I know pilots aren't usually technically considered canon but he loses his radio voice several times. It's hard to tell why exactly he loses it sometimes but it seems to be a conscious choice.
@@suicune2001 yeah but in that moment with Adam is like very obvious, he even loses his cool, he was actually surprised there
@@Ricardo_Rick Yeah he was. The lack of voice in that moment could have been his shock from losing his staff and maybe even connection to his power for a moment. But he gets it back a few seconds later so the voice isn't tied to staff itself.
@@suicune2001 i never said it was tied to it, but more that the radio thing is a mask
@@Ricardo_Rick That could be. Kinda like you said, it' could be part of his persona. Maybe he thinks it hammers home the "radio" part of the radio demon. Or maybe it just makes him nostalgic for his human life.
I’m betting on the fact that Alastor will get his full power back by the end of season 2. Whether that be with or against Charlie.
I think by the end of the show he will become rlly strong and be the final villain
Im kind of surprised so many people think Alastor wont betray Charlie and the Hotel. He was certainly getting attached to the crew, but him almost dying in the battle was a wake up call. It rekindled his resolve to find a way out of his contract, and with the Alastor we know now, if the opportunity arises to break his contract comes at the cost of betrayal, he will take it. Whether he comes to regret that, remains to be seen.
Agreed!
at 2:33 you can see alastors mouth is stitched into a smile. He physicaly cannot stop smilling.
Those stiches would keep his mouth shut, a smile, I think it was just a way to show something creepy/taboo
Alastor HAS grown to like the people of the hotel, as he says in his little talk between him and Niffty. BUT in the finale, he’s basically saying he shouldn’t let these feelings overtake him and his real reason for even being here. This is evident in ‘great Alastor altruist died for his friends’, he’s basically quoting what they might say if he continued to let his feelings for the ppl of the hotel (friendship, basically) take over him and make him weaker and forget his reason of being here.
In the finale when he says ‘these constrains should have a back door’ (along those lines), he’s saying that this deal that he’s under, this leash he is on must have a way out. He wants to be in control, not the one on a leash. He wants power. HE’LL be the one pulling all the strings.
Betray Charlie? No. Manipulate and take advantage of Charlie, her sweet nature and their deal? Absolutely
My head cannon is when he sings about how he will eventually find cracks or loopholes in the contract, he isn't talking about the deal with Charlie, but the contract with Lilith. Alastor implies and literally states that he is basically chained and held by a contract, but from what's on screen, Charlie never said anything about condition except hurting anyone.
I'm thinking Alastor will find a way to usurp Lilith's power by forcing her to break the contract
Alastor became more mysterious with every clue. The connection between him and Roo is closer than we may thought. If Vivzies twits (or x's) are still cannon, maybe Alastor is more related to Roo, like his child or avatar, that was created on Earth (like in "The Horror of Dunwich" of Lovecraft). He pretend to be a normal human, but got more occult power through his "cosmic, eldritch father", and thanks to that he could infiltrate Hell as a sinner. Hell was the goal, because it's easier to get into it, than to Heaven. He started his rampage, but because he was in Hell, his power wasn't that omnipotence- his father was in other Realm, that's why he use his staff with "father's eye" as an anchor. Seven years before Hazbin Hotel first episode- he fought Vox, because his ambition was in the way of Alastor. Then suddenly he was summoned by Lilith, who also had a deal with Roo. Alastor not only was weakened by fight, but also maybe daddy shut off his power, to give him to the Lilith on the leash. After that he regain power, but deal was sealed, and he was on the Lilith order.
Now, limited by the humiliating deal, and betrayed by Roo- he seeks way to escape from the deal, and take Hell as a his own kingdom.
Proofs:..all this green energy with foreign symbols, sudden rise to power as a Overlord. The eye in his microphone, and sudden weaken state after the staff was broken. Tentacles of his more demonic form (BTW. is it not strange, that he only transform- only angels, and angel0related were capable to do that. Other sinner, like Vox, Valentino, Angel Dust, etc. they do not transform).
"Alastor smiling in an unhinged way"
"Alastor smiles even when distressed"
"Alastor smiles-"
Alastor can't help it. His face is magically stitched in a smile. If he were to actually smile, the stitches break and he bleeds.
The scene of Alastor and Nifty watching the crew (beginning of ep 8) makes me think Alastor is realizing he’s getting close with these “friends”. He literally had an entire mental breakdown in the finale because of it so it must be insanely important to the plot.
Praying our boy Alastor gets a redemption arc 🙏
I really like the new ways you've been asking people to subscribe, it reminds me of welcome to nightvale a little bit
I think he didn't make a deal with Lilith or anyone what people don't understand is that Alastor is VERY transparent with everything he says his smile is the thing that keeps them guessing. When he says stuff in terms of his intentions and where's he's been he answers honestly but his smile makes you guess. I think the 'deal' he's referring to is the one he made with Charlie in the pilot where she 'orders' him to help her run the place but on her terms as long as he feels like it. While it may not be something to pay attention to in the pilot you have to realize she is the heir to hell and if she orders you to do something you have to do it which Charlie or us don't realize because Charlie never flexs her power. Alastor wants to use Charlie cause he knows her potential and that she is as powerful as Lucifer as he wants to mold her to end up pulling the strings because he knows having her is a useful tool to him so he won't get out of the deal he made with her in the pilot for that reason, but its driving him crazy cause he knows he can technically get out of the deal because Charlie said until he feels like it, but doesn't want to because of how useful she can be to him but it's driving him insane that it has to be under her terms. So he got himself into a open ended deal that he can yet can't get out of. And Husks comment about him being on a leash is probably him being ' whipped' by Charlie cause why would Alastor let ANY one know he sold his soul much less to someone like Husk who Alastor owns his soul? That would be perceived as weak that if anyone would find out and he would make sure no one found out. Also Alastor isn't dumb enough to sell his soul he is all about control and knows selling a soul is a act of desperation and losing control and Alastor isn't about that. And when he is asked by Zelestial where he was he says ' just took a break nothing more but keep guessing I love to hear the theories' is Vizzie breaking the fourth wall because she does interact with her fans and will know there will be a million fan theory videos guessing so Alastors comment is a head nod to all the fan theory videos she knows are out there. Just a theory tho
You know, that's a pretty interesting and exotic take on this situation, I haven't heard a variant like that before. I even like: 'the power of the royal family is so great that they don't even have to directly make deals', sounds interesting overall.
While that is an interesting theory, Charlie's actual deal was, "I'm taking your offer to help on the condition that there be no tricks or voodoo strings attached." Then he offered an official deal, which she promptly rejected. Then she says, "As princess of hell and heir to the throne, I hereby order that you help with this hotel for as long as you desire." And that was it. Nothing was said about restricting his powers. It was just he couldn't force her to make a deal or trick her in some way to get him to help. The only condition was he choose to help and he could simply leave whenever he felt like it.
I like the fact that when Alastor made that deal with Charlie his face had that voodoo doll effect that was really a nice touch
I'm sorry, but I couldn't help but chuckle at the comment "Alastor was smiling in this scene." Alastor is ALWAYS smiling. The day he stops smiling will be a truly terrifying day
Alastors song comes off as he wants revenge specifically to whoever is pulling his strings by pulling an uno reverse card. As for Charlie's deal with him the condition is that it can't involve hurting anyone so it's very specific way he has to exploit it. Rosie says to Charlie that Alastor has never done her wrong so it's strange. Also isn't there a previous conversation with Nifty and Alastor where he says that he admits he's growing attached for the rest of the cast.
You just have to stay tuned to find out what I'm cooking for her xD
It was a fascinating quick visual to see Alastor's mouth with sickly green glowing stitches all along his mouth when he makes the deal with Charlie. I think the particular deal with her includes releasing a gag order Al currently has on his soul deal.
Yup, keep the fan theories coming, Viv needs as many ideas as possible to craft her show to make it as alluring as possible.
First.
Lol

Hi
Omg I never thought this would happen

During the Cannibal town episode and song, Alastor mentions how potentially strong Charlie is to her father and how he could guide her with his sinister smile. You can say that the theory of Alastor wanting to use Charlie could be reinforced by this. Maybe he is also planning something along the lines of being and an advisor to a naive princess, where you can recall tropes of where advisors would be controlling the kingdom behind the royal family.
I think lilith sent alastor to charlie too help and protect her which is seen how he almost died risking his life for the hotel made by charlie he is like razle and dazle sent to help and protect her daughter if she gets into any trouble
imagine if alastor got a low taper fade
bro should get dreads

Why every solo Alastor ending of song sound so great? Stayed gone, and now this. I also feel sad, that we didnt seen Alastor full demonic form in fight with Adam.
6:11 simple, "made ... give up deal that we made at all cost" and Charlie would need to do it.
6:18 realy? I just sayed that xD
I do think that Alistor does care about Charlie and the Gang, seeing as he referred to the gang as his "friends" during his part in the finale song, plus his conversation with Nifty and that Charlie has power he can "guide", not control
I’m honestly afraid of the demon that owns Alastor’s soul, whoever it is might be the big bad of the series and I don’t think Alastor’s plan will work with Charlie favor 😰
Yep I knew it alastor is the real villain of the show now
I haven't seen anyone talk about it, so here's my theory.
Eve is the person that made a deal with Alastor. She's the only person from the trio (Adam, Lilith, Eve) that we haven't seen yet.
Adam was the first soul in heaven and she was the first soul in hell and is trying to bring down heaven for it's hypocrisy.
I'm still here wondering who's pulling Alastor's strings. Most people assume it's Lilith or Eve, which would make sense and explain why Alastor provokes Lucifer so much. But I think the black tentacles and otherworldly green glow is referencing something Eldrich/Lovecraftian as it usually is in related media. Vivzie has made reference to a Von Eldrich family before, but I would love to it as another ancient like Zestial. Someone or something that was in Hell long before Lucifer fell and rose to power. After all, Alastor's power manifested from seemingly nowhere, and he didn't seem to fear Lucifer or Adam and provoked them constantly. Something had him terrified and uncertain to near madness in the ending song of Episode 8, though.
Is Alastair the ULTIMATE VILLAIN IN SEASON 2/3
Probobly roo
@@alderlopezcastro4928 but is Alastair evil???
@@user-bo5ne9qu8nis this a question?Alastor made his way to hell by being a cannibalistic Serial killer, obviously he's evil

He just wants to be the shadow leader of hell. Pulling all the strings and influencing her do enact his will
There is also the possibility that alastor made a deal with Eve. We have heard suspiciously little about her, and also, pretty sure she's the one who released evil(possibly roo in the process) into the world. Again, that might be a possibility. Maybe she'll get mad that they killed adam and become a villain in the show. There is a lot of possibilities for Eve, yet not many people(that I know of) are talking about it
i think alastor is immortal from his deal with lilith. that blow from adam should have killed him. he says how he “just escaped” then goes on to mention the deal. i think it was supposed to infer whatever liliths deal involved, he became immortal.
All sinners are immortal
@@realbiggestlegofanconnor7007 not from angelic weapons. and thats exactly what adam was using.
@@koldkutgirl yeah so if he did the same to another overlord it’ll be the same result so overlords aren’t more immortal they have power and are more powerful than regular sinners
@@realbiggestlegofanconnor7007 my theory is whatever his deal was with lilith gave him immortality. you are missing the entire point in my theory. lilith is the queen of hell, her lucifer and charlie are immortal. who knows what her powers are.
Lets be honest if he takes over we would all love it❤
I don't care if he kills everyone as long as he's happy and on top
I still think Seta might be a wild card in this since she clearly also knows more then whats going on at the moment, and was shocked to see Pen
It’s either he grew too close to Charlie and is attempting to distance himself, but I find that weird considering how much he seemingly wants her soul, or he’s forced to help and support Charlie in whatever way he can via the deal, which he despises to no end. I lean more towards the ladder, Alastor seems to want control back, and seems to want to puppeteer hell. But due to his deal, he’s forced to do stuff he hates.

😅
Funny
When Charlie pointed out Alastor's smile, I realize that I don't think there is a single scene where he isn't smiling. When he's about to get killed, when he's having his mental breakdown, when Husk calls him out, he is still smiling. He's says your never fully dressed without one, but I wonder if he chooses to do that, or if its just a thing he's stuck with
We can see when they make a deal its stitched on his face. He isn't choosing to smile. Someone, maybe even himself, stitched it.
@RoyalRose
I didn't think it was stitched, I never connected that ngl. And we knew he was crazy, but smile all the time doesn't seem like something someone could physically even do. It might've been a character design, but I love the idea that he's either forced or stuck, an I love your idea!
i can definitely say the hotel is getting in trouble with the overlords, considering the fact that if a sinner can be redeemed, those who have contracts with overlords can be possibly redeemed which would be a problem considering that would mean overlords would begin losing power per redeemed soul.
That itty bitty favor that the deal was for might be Alastor telling Charlie to convince Lilith to let Al free from his chains.
6:50 given roo's eldritch connection and alastors own eldritch/old voodoo magic style makes me think alastor made a deal with roo especially given that he came from nowhere and killed so many powerful established forces. I think lilith got into heaven by exposing roo and their plans which also led to alastor disappearance around the same time lillith did due to his patron being wounded or deprived of the power to give alastor like they had been when he first arrived in hell
I don't think he wants to control All but control his own fate, and take back control over his soul. His character is nuanced so for me there is a lot of potential to turn this around and have him realise a found family and friendship isn't such a weakness after all. Power is all good, but it's very lonely too.
There is a loop hole in Alastor and Charlie's deal. Charlie can't be made directly hurt someone, but indirectly the favor could result in such a manner. If say Alastors favor is to have Charlie ask Lucifer to kill the person that owns his soul Charlie would have to ask Lucifer to do it, and since she's his little girl he'll do it. Alastor could basically ask her to have Lucifer kill off anyone he wants.
My little theory is that the “little favor” Alastor is gonna have Charlie do is to cut his chains from the other power. Since it’s likely Lilith this might be really hard for Charlie because she’d be going against her own mother
We've never seen Alastor show true fear and desperation before. It's like Flowey at the end of the genocide route. He realized he's no longer the one in control.
Alastor seemed confused when his powers stopped working during the fight, something stopped him. Something in his contract stopped him.
So when talking about Roo, I keep on getting reminded of Helluva Boss season 1 episode 1. In it the mom character says "May the Root of Evil be honored as we continue thy work.", which leads me to believe that the Root of Evil is a much bigger player in both shows.
Anyone going to ignore the fact that one of his lines in his solo bit is "as soon as I found out how to unclip my wings" and he magically appeared in hell like our favorite short king Lucifer so could Alastor be a fallen angel?
Thats very unlikely due to his lore u
Okay, hear me out. if you look at the frames in episode 8, you can see it at 1:50 in this video; Alastor has normal teeth behind his set of sharp golden teeth, combined with his constant lines about smiling and not feeling dressed without one, something is going on. I believe Rosie to be a fallen angel (It's said she isn't a Sinner.) she shares a lot of the design qualities, like skin/hair color, head shape, and general maturity that those native to Hell don't typically have. also the plumage on her neck is the same as the executioner outfit plumage but red.I think Alastor has a majority of Rosie's power, taking that instead of her life when he was overthrowing the Overlords. That or idk lmao maybe Rosie is just a Cannibal Colony Hellborn like your said and perhaps Alastor made a deal with Rosie to give her the means to form Cannibal Colony and be their unquestioned leader. She did seem to spot deals for him, so I think it's something like the Vs but a lot more one-sided. I just think it's a biiiiiiit weird that he has those teeth, and then actual teeth beneath, like he may be the founder cannibal and did that to symbolize his power as their true overlord. .
“Once I figure out how to unclip my wings” is still one line I’m thinking heavily on from Alistor. Wings are usually seen as a symbol of freedom so alastor wanting to unclip his own is twisting my brain in trying to make sense of it
Its not that difficult. Hes referencing his wings are clipped as in he is trapped. He wants to unclip them and be free. Its just a phrase
@@Azrael713 I get what you’re saying, it’s just usually associated that unclippin wings means being denied freedom where as he says unclipping his will free him. It’s like a weird antonym to what he says his desire is. I’m probably just looking to deep into it, I just love the character and his mystery so much🖤🖤🖤
@@NM-io3bk you got the meanings backwards. "Clipping the wings" is denying freedom as in cutting a bird's wings so it can't leave its cage. Unclipping would be fixing his wings and giving him freedom again.
@@Azrael713 that’s what I’m saying. He wants to unclip his wings which will somehow give him freedom. Unclipping wings means denied freedom.

Yeah Al is defo connected to Roo. But whats also interesting is the design choice of Alastor. He constantly has a swamp theme going on ( esp. when he eats the deer or swamp plants in his radio tower) and he seems to be stiched up aswell. Stiches along his body when he gets into demon mode and his mouth is also stiched up. Eyes constantly watch every step he does shown in multiple screenshots. Mysterious indeed. I just hope they dont ruin his character by making him overly expressive and shmoozy in the end. That would suck.
Fun fact: The music when Lute talks to Lilith sounds exactly like the first four notes of the Alastor leitmotif
