Thank you!
the clue is in the words.. 'thoughts' and 'fantasy'.. the werewolf is not a real man. It is the animal energy required for fucking that is the turn on. The nice guy she lives with doesn't make her heart race. Why don't guys ever get this.

Nice for doing good work not just stealing content but promoting and linking everything + explaining gj
Vampire: Mysterious masculinity (in the dark, unexpecting, cunning)
Werewolf: Animalistic masculinity (primal alpha, pack leader, strong, fierce)
Billionaire: Status masculinity (living the high life, luxury, comfort, assurance)
Pirate: Adventurous masculinity (fear no danger, break the rules, dream seeker)
Surgeon: Intellectual masculinity (precise, dependable, trustworthy, between life and death)
You summed it up perfectly. I love vampire, werewolf, and billionaire romance and this describes why. It's not so much an ego thing as finding these types of masculinity very attractive.

Masculinity is the common factor here and I agree. Nothing’s more sexier than a masculine man who is bad to others but cares for her lady.

I love that billionaires and surgeons are listed among pirates, werewolves, and vampires
Yep. Success and Danger directed at the woman in a positive way is the key to the female fantasy. Billionaires and Surgeons are the epitome of success trait in the minds of many. Who doesn't want to marry a doctor or have a billionaire jet you around the world in the lap of luxury?
Billionaires are risk takers with disposable income and surgeons are dangerous because they literally hold life in their hands
That’s the money factor. Women in to varying degrees want fancy and shiny things.
Women are much more likely to pick the rich, obnoxious, douche canoe man than the one who would actually treat the woman with respect and love.
Sometimes, women are their own worst enemies.

As an 18 girl, I think there's a lot of relationships where the "I can fix him" mentality can be really detrimental. It's one thing to want to "fix" your partner, and another thing to want what's best for him, you might not always know what that is, but it's important to try and help him to figure that out.
Though I totally do get the appeal of helping your partner become a better man, but it's important to grow alongside him
Agreed. Growing allong side your partner is the healthy way. But through both books, movies and series I notice that the “I can fix him” mentality is literally being pushed onto women. It’s always the guy not being able to behave or is incredibly dangerous to the people around him but only that one special woman can stop him and calm him down. Making girls/woman believe that that is their job (taming the beast) :/

As a lady, for me, its not the being dominated or taming a beast thing...its the world. The adventures, the magic, the danger a world like theirs can give. Normal life is dull for most people. Being in a world with Pirates, vampires, or werewolves is exciting and different. Same thing with elves...not traditionally masculine, beasts to be tamed, or dominating. Lots of ladies just loving the difference of a fantasy world and having a man to be with within that world. You remove the special worlds these men come from or the secret worlds they exist in within our own and you get what? Greg the vampire that works in accounting and only feeds on the weekends...not a lot of ladies, if any, will thirst over that. Even the fantasy of being with a billionaire is fueled by what money like that can open up for you. The fashion, travel, status. Its erotic escapism. We just go from daydreaming about prince charming to something with a bit more edge and sexiness as we get older.
So women want to live in childlike fantasies and cannot handle the realism actual men give them.
Being in that world is also filled with drama and b.s. no thanks.
Here, here. At last, someone who gets it. It's about the fantasy world these fantasy creatures live in that draws fantasy fiction fans. I've read many of these stories and I can tell you I can't remember one erotic scene, but I remember the world and story the book was actually about. The thing I remember about these imaginary men in these fantasy stories is, they tend to be arseholes and no sane woman would want one in their life in reality.
If someone offered for me to spice up my life, was to go running barefoot through hell itself to save said arsehole I'd say "Sorry I'm, washing my hair tonight."🤣
I think Jordan is looking way too much into this. A lot of men are intimidated by romance fantasy fiction...the funny thing is 99% of the authors are women, which female readers are enjoying.🤣
THIS. this it it.
Wait, that's a p*rn?
As a woman, its definitely true that many women are drawn to the idea of taming monsters. Masculinity at its most extreme is pretty monsterous. Women are drawn to that as it is through nature but we also need to make sure the monster is redeemable to some extent for our own safety, comfort, and fulfillment. Also a monster that is tame only with us is the highest level of protection we could have. It also helps us feel special. Its layered. Basically be a beast but with self control and show your softest sides only to her to trigger her nurture programming and also stroke her vanity...and bam she is hooked for life. 😂 unless you found a really crazy one.
I wonder if this is why equestrians like to have a big well-hung stallion between their legs.

Just one word WATTPAD
He knows.
We're always told that women want a man they can fix or tame, I'm not sure that's really the draw. The draw is finding a man who has the capacity to be aggressive and dangerous enough so that you know they can protect you and your family, while also knowing they love and admire you enough to never use those powers directly on you.
Bam. You got it right. But when you're searching for porn, the story has to be a bit more concise lol
Lol. You just described 'taming'. Dangerous, but directed according to your desires.
Exactly! What do you mean women wanna tame and fix problems? like i dont want a hobo w drug issues, wtf?
No. They want animals. They are turned on by animals copulating. There are tens of millions single mothers, they only want an untamed brute, not husband. They want to breed, not to have family. Stop glorifying those animals.
True. But that's the lie. If a person is capable of harming one person, they are capable of hurting you in that same way too. And they more than likely, eventually, will bc the newness will end at some point.
"There's no fun in taming someone who's already tame ... plus when chaos manifests itself, what makes you think someone tame is going to be good for anything."
My girl definitely "tamed" me, I was going nowhere good in life. Constantly fighting, drugs, alcohol and involvement in crime. She saw the little good that was in me and taught me how to make that who I was, taught me to to be a better person and I am grateful for everything she did for me. I still have my vices but she without a doubt saved me from becoming the worst version of myself
Most people take it as an insult to be "tamed" because it proves that something is wrong with them, nobody wants to admit thier flaws.
I think it's a little egoistic to want to tame someone but it's also kind of beautiful, seeing something good in something "bad".

Prison Mike who started the fire?
I think the whole concept of women wanting to "tame" a man is actually about their egos. Women sleep with players because they want the ego boost of making him settle down and stop sleeping with other women. If a woman can get a hot man who can sleep with anyone he wants to choose only her then that implies that she is better than everyone else. It's all about validation
"Want you to make me feel like I'm the only girl in the world" - Rihanna
Not ALL about validation, though that may be part of it. There are serious consequences to a mate sleeping around with other partners. He could bring home diseases to you and the children, he could spend the family's money that is needed for food/housing/medicine wooing someone else, and he could cause a divorce or child support payment to come out of his take home pay. All these are very real threats to a mom who is depending on a partner to help her raise the kids.

I have always been a fan of a good werewolf or vampire romance and I definitely still get drawn in by the level of masculinity they bring. But honestly has I have gotten older, and I am only early 20s mind you, I have realized how much I personally don't want that sort of relationship. I married a man who did not fit into the "needs to be tamed" category because I discovered I wanted to be with someone who wouldn't induce a heart attack by acting out rashly out of protectiveness or just sheer passion. I married a guy who would act but with more thought to his actions and how they could impact our life together. What I am saying is no matter how attractive men that take care of the problem, or get aggressive can be, I myself am way too independent and practical minded of a female to want that outside of a book lol. My man doesn't need to change for me, we will both adapt as necessary.
Did you like twilight? I found that insufferable!
"Hello. My name is Aleister. Originally, I was a man. A man who helped to deliver children into this world. But, one fateful night, in a war ravaged land, my life and existence changed drastically. I was called upon to deliver the child of a soldier who was called to battle. His wife, a young woman of no more than twenty-five, was in labor when I arrived in their small cottage. I tried my best, as any man of medicine would. However, even though the woman survived, as well as the newborn girl, the hemorrhaging had an unforeseen effect. Little did I know, this woman was secretly in love with another being. A being of darkness. One who had set the transformation in motion before the labor began. The vampirism was in her blood. And, by contact with it, I myself became a creature of night. This is my tale.".

I'm 32 and Australian.... I still have some of these explicit romance novels I found as a teenager 😅 thank you for the insight
No one asked, but I'm here to explain the vampire one in more detail. I don't think it's as weird or shallow as it seems on the surface 😅
It's important to note that women don't typically like *evil* vampires who are actively killing people. Women like *good* vampires. Whether we're talking about Twilight, Buffy, or any of the thousands of other vampire stories out there, women like noble vampires who willingly choose to abstain from human blood.
I think this is because the bloodlust vampires feel is a thinly veiled metaphor for sexual lust (or possibly any addictive sin). In other words, a vampire who can control his desire to drink blood is a man who can control his sexual desire. A good vampire represents a man who is strong enough to resist temptation and rise above his nature in an effort to protect others.
In my opinion, this is the primary reason the idea of vampires appeals to women (especially the more traditionally-minded variety). Good vampires are men with morals and values. They have the power to hurt others but they choose against it. They don't give into selfish, carnal pleasures at the expense of others, no matter how powerful the temptation may be.
Bonus: vampires usually live a long time (because they're immortal), so over the years, they've acquired wisdom, intelligence, and life experience. They're old souls. They're emotionally mature. They're civilized and refined. They typically come from an earlier time when chivalry was the norm. That gentlemanly nature seems to linger within them.
The bottom line: vampires represent the female desire for men who can control their actions even in the face of strong temptation, have life experience and maturity, and behave like gentlemen. The interesting thing is that these are completely attainable goals for any regular guy (or girl--I'm trying to work on some of these things myself), and I'm thankful to know many real men who exemplify these qualities beautifully.
In fact, I'm blessed to be dating my very own "noble vampire." 😉
The abstain from blood bit isnt really right as abstaining kills them often women are ok with becoming vampires in those stories. For example I just checked the girl from twilight became a vampire I don't think I got past the 2nd movie or even the 1st. Many vampires also have castles Can Grant immortality to their partner and are hunted by vampire hunters. With a vampire it's considered good enough if they don't kill those they suck blood from
@@monkeymanwasd1239 Abstaining from blood doesn't kill them in any of the vampire stories I've heard of. Not in Twilight, Buffy, etc. They live forever regardless of whether they drink blood or not. And yes, in Twilight, Bella becomes a vampire but she never once tastes human blood. She chooses to become a good vampire just like the one she fell in love with. So yes, it still applies.
@@KylieMalchusArt The vampires I know can survive months or years without drinking blood but that's usually when they're in a coffin dried up into husks before they go off to murder several towns of people

Such a brilliant teacher!
When I was like 20~ I loved reading books and I also favoured the 'bad guys', vampires and werewolves. I also questioned why I felt drawn to them and why alot of other women do too. And I think I found an answer that sounds plausible and right to me.
I think those bad guys represent things that a lot of women dont have. They represent what some women long for, what might bring balance.
Since young age, I and a lot other girls are taught to behave, be calm, show good manners, be empathetic, be good at school, do this, do that, in fact: be a good girl and you'll get praised. I know so many that grow up this way into adulthood. And if you happen to also be a shy girl, books can be an escape from this situation, this world, in which you feel like everything you are and will be is decided by someone else.
And then you meet those characters, the bad guys, the vampires, the werewolves. They represent all that: Independence, power, being unapologetic, free, wild, adventurous, special, being egoistical. Thats what (I think) a lot desire about those men. They want what they dont have .
This must be why girls like horses. A wild beast she can tame and ride around on.
great observation
This really makes sense . Thank you for this comment
That may be part of it, but there is also the power issue. Being able to control a horse gives the woman a feeling of power and control, nothing wrong with that. We all want to feel powerful and in control of our lives.

One of the things I have learned of what separates men and women, is the emotional response level:
Women are far more emotional than men, but the sexual response in aggressive women also becomes more intense…
Men are more “visual” when it comes to sex… where as women need a man that can communicate with her emotions… then her sensual side, her “dark” side comes out.
Secretly she wants a man to dominate her… but the man must learn this without her telling him what she wants… nor forcing his way into a physically demanding relation.
She wants a masculine man that is obedient to her desires.

I think for the vampire one it could also be about power, depending on the type of vampire of course. Like if vampires were real and they are basically human+ except they can’t touch daylight, if we had the choice we would rather be the hunter in that scenario than the prey.
All of the above: assholes
I think also…
surgeon: the best at what he does, highly intelligent, and driven.
Vampire: powerful, holder of knowledge, able to grant the fantasy of “together forever”
Werewolf: virility, caring - but in a masculine “I’ll take care of you” way, family-oriented
And honestly, all of them are meant to be quite intense.
How many surgeons have you known?
A doctor can be caring and compassionate....
Surgeons are very often ego driven narcissists. Which my dad once said he actually prefers in a surgeon.
Also, to be able to do what they do they have to be able to separate themselves from their empathy and humanity or they'd break. There's an inherent danger in doing that. Surgeons and first responders and people with those kinds of jobs that are traumatizing are a special breed.
My favourite 5 minutes of stand up anywhere! The Marge Simpson gargle of his voice only adds to the titillation. Then he finally says, "Surgeons, werewolves and vampires", and the punchline connects.
Guffaw.
My main takeway from his lecture:
Men of culture bring the advancement of search engine, SEO techniques, and web development.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
This made my day buddy 😂 . They bring much more to the civilization
Interesting that it includes "surgeon" as one of the 5, but if you think about it, it really makes sense. In order to compete in the medical field at such a high level, and to continue doing so, requires an exemplary degree of effort and complex action, which is an abstract of aggression. But where's the danger? What makes a surgeon as deadly as a vampire or pirate? Well, ultimately... perhaps more so than even a pirate, a surgeon literally has the power of life and death every single day... with one cut, they can save a person's life, or they can end it.
Too psycholgysts says many suegeons hace psychpath tendencies, manty are persons who like to rip people, and chose to earn $ through it.
I think they just thought than a lady writting "hot surgeon" was looking for her fantasy and not for the actor in a tv series

I think it's more a 'only soft for her' kind of thing. Throughout history, females have not been very dominant, so having power over someone who has a lot of power is kind of, well, empowering. Knowing that you can influence someone to that level, where he didn't listen to anyone before you came along, it makes you feel special.
Even I consider the idea romantic, even thought I know, rationally speaking, that someone who is only nice to someone just because he's in love with her, is a bad partner to have.
Well what makes u think that a powerless being can control a powerful being with lust?? Powerful men know this fact very well and thats what makes them uncontrolable
@@jvjoon4333 I don't think that, exactly. But story wise, it makes kind of sense, doesn’t it? It's not about reality here, it's about novels and tropes and the psychological thought behind those tropes. It's where the whole Female Fatale thing partly stems from. Woman do not have power, but they are pretty. Men are strong, but everyone knows they are weak to a pretty face.
Besides that, isn't the whole idea of love- or at least, the most mainstream love- the idea of doing whatever you can for your partner, lust and seduction put aside?
@MimiBabe Right! Fiction is fiction for a reason. In reality, this is an immense red flag. Not only is your safety and wellbeing directly related to how much they like you- which means he decides enough is enough when you're living togheter or married, you're trapped, cruel people seldom or never see themselves as cruel. They see themselves as right. Which means they can still be in love with you and, in the moment you don't show your boundaries clearly enough, run over them like a freight train.
This trope of "he's only nice to her but awful to everyone else" is pretty egotistical in itself since it involves the feeling of being "special". It's never genuine love. Moreover real-life relationship dynamics like this always end up in some screwed up situation of a guy so obsessed he'd end up killing the girl because of some petty thing.

If i can explain from a female perspective, theres something attractive about a male who has the capacity to be scary, tough, sexy (with lots of female options) BUT reigns it all in for you, and chooses you. That a woman would be worth being a better person for.
Unfortunately today very few women are actually worth it and if they manage to "tame you" you are now boring and they move on. As a male you must always be on edge to keep her interested which is just not worth the effort. As we can see from todays society women are way more easily influenced than men are and this smut has possibly caused irreversible damage to a generation of women.

Western ideas are so god damn skewed and somewhat backwards - only celebrated as forward because it is loudest and widespread just because of economic dominance and its colonial past. Dominance and angst. That’s why monsters are sexy.
In my experience though, “seducing and taming” isn’t so much the focus of such fiction and fanfiction. It’s more about being desired and pursued by someone more powerful (hence the dominance). And it’s about being emotionally supportive to that being (hence the angst).
You said it best, Lynette. Fictional alpha men who are tamed by a woman to the point of emasculation is not appealing. The point of the taming (when done well) is not just about the woman, it's about bringing happiness to the alpha. The end of Dirty Dancing, Johnny is still macho, even though Baby has tamed him. In fact, he's more emboldened by the end, standing up to the "rich and mean" employers that he grovelled to as a hot-headed Alpha.
What's attractive about angst?

They got money too lmao
For a lot of people looks and money just don’t do it for them. I think a lot of those that compete in combat sports have a very good looking wife because it’s something that takes extraordinary discipline and focus. Not to mention the best of the best tend to have the brain functionality/wiring that makes them that better fighter in the ring/octagon. I do competitive combat sports and only the top 1 percent have any semblance of money and most are actually much more attractive than the general public. Discipline to a craft IS absolutely sexy.
I used to wallow in self pity because I thought I was ugly and un-wanted. When in reality I was lazy and un disciplined and a giant cry baby. For those that think that, dedicate yourself to something, anything, and things like that will find you. It’s kind of like when you lose something and stop looking for it, it tends to show up faster than if you tore your house apart searching for it. That’s just my 2 cents though.
@@MidnightSommer oss i agre with you man
Jordan did a video about this tho. Women are attracted to aggressive males because they have the ability to protect them from real danger. The problem is most dudes who are highly aggressive will be aggressive and physical with their women too. What women should be looking for is men who have a strong capacity for aggression but also know how to control it. The thing is that guy is a unicorn as much as a woman who’s self sufficient and can carry her own but can still compromise with a man. Most people fall hard to one side of the the spectrum or the other and the balance that most people desire is extremely rare in both men and women.

You can add another one to this - princes. Women love princes as well. If you look at fantasy romances for women audiences the male leads are commonly princes.

@@streameant For millennia and in some countries to this day, men wouldn't and won't let us be completely independent from them. Much less rise as high.
I think the archetype of a woman taming a man comes from a woman’s insecurity. Beauty doesn’t make you special - there are millions of beautiful women out there. But if you can be the one woman who tames a man - who stands by him despite all of the negative things - who makes him see the light - who makes him love you enough to be better - well THAT makes you special. That makes you indispensable to him in a way beauty and sex and even a regular relationship doesn’t. You’ll be the girl who saw the diamond in the coal, the prince in the toad, etc. and when he transforms you’ll have a man that appreciates all that you did for him when no one else would. And if you can make yourself indispensable to a man, then he will never leave you - then you’re safe and he’ll treat you well... At least, that’s what the fantasy is. Reality is often quite different.
It's a nice fantasy, I agree. But the irony is that an alpha male can only be temporarily "tamed" by any woman. Perhaps 5-10 years at most. If he is desired by many women he will always have options and distractions.
The fun thing is, it becomes a game between her wanting to tame the man, and the man using push-pull to always portrait the image that he might simply leave at some point. Many call this "Dread". Keeping the dread makes the woman always try to dominate you, because through dread you express exactly the opposite - you are so untaimed that you might go for someone else.
Some might say it can be borderline unethical to play around such things, as it may easily classified as manipulation, but I would argue that the opposite is also very real and can real to catastrophic failures. A completely tamed man gets boring really quick, and she might as well try to find someone more interesting to start this taming Journey back again.
Dam man, that's a good explanation! I think Jordan himself would enjoy reading that
I agree with most of your paragraph, but i disagree when you said women pick agressive men because of insecurity. Women are just naturally attracted to dominance, an Alpha male is makes a suitable mate.

I love how he made it about himself so he does not embarrass her
That's really smart move
I think it's exciting that the story is dangerous and exciting. I think it's about female curiosity, wanting something interesting and different to average normal life. I think that the individual characters (male and female), for example in vampire diaries, are sexy because they are wellbuilt (actors have gotten fit). The way they talk, the voice quality, is serious and like they're always in that moment of falling in love. Sometimes the smouldering facial expressions make an appearance too.
I think the interest in supernatural literature as a kind of porn is the mystery of supernatural beings, the danger and excitement of the story, the fact that love with a vampire can really be forever, and the fact that the actors are very attractive and often shirtless.
It’s not really the specific traits but the situations the books represent that way through the role of the main male lover. Almost all of them dominant, in any way.
Also let’s face it, it’s interesting how a lot of these options aren’t technically masculine. Like for example car mechanic or some more violent options like some boxer or whatever. It’s somewhere in between and also an interesting group of choices. All of them having something alluring about them that you can build the story about easily. Ps, vampires most likely do look a bit more beautiful than your masculine men.
Men have been simping for mythical women like mermaids, sirens etc for ages.
I'm not exactly fond of females that like to cannibalise me after
I'm not a praying mantis Regina
Yeah but that comes back to men just wanting the most beautiful woman or female form. A siren is dangerous but the danger isn't sexy. The siren herself is supposed to look good for that whole thing to work. The same thing with a mermaid. That's just an inhuman level of sexiness. Lol
There is no difference between men wanting the most beautiful and women wanting someone they can nourish. While men tend to get distracted by physical beauty more often, women have to form a bond like motherhood so that men can never leave.
Of course this interpretation is for the sake of fun Freudian conversations.
@@reginanemo640 well yes... there is. The women are looking for the aggression, the danger. They want to tame the man so he becomes essentially a guard dog, projecting that out into the world and being soft toward the family. Men aren't attracted to any of that. The only reason they might like mythical creatures like mermaids is because they're hot. That's it.
@@reginanemo640 implying that women don't always try and go for the most handsome men all the time ...right...
I think it's because a typical girl wants to feel safe in a relationship. Where the agressive guy would be dangerous to everyone else, but protective of her. But she wants to tame him to show she's strong in her own right, but not in a physical way. More on the emotional side of things, where she doesn't cave to the man's principles. It's a dangerous world out there and a girl just wants to feel safe and special through the person she's attracted to.
