I’d rather wipe my arse with a broken bottle than buy a BBC TV licence.
Brilliant 😂😂
That sounds painful, you could just use one of their letters instead it would be much more adequate!😂
😂
That's just made me laugh out loud....😂😂
lol... That's the spirit Henry.....
BBC needs to abolish tv licence fee.....I dont watch BBC so why should i pay….No one should be forced to pay this fee...
People already know that .Same old same old comments
They need to keep you watching their propaganda.
Then they will force it onto people who don't need it. Like in council tax
Simpy put, don't pay it anymore.
@@dominicharvey6048 You already don't know where your council tax is really being spent , without sneaking in the TV license as well.Same with vehicle tax
It's not about whether or not you need a license. It's about profit/greed.

Hi there, well, BBC has NOTHING that I would like to watch.......I'm a CZcamsR to my neck.....BBC is so boring to my core......All the best to you and thank you for keeping us updated.
I'm not sure if it's bbc or not but it's live tv. Have you seen the virtual reality house renovation programme? Now that is a whole other level of pointless and boring af!
Hi John, I have been licence free for 3 years, I’ve done my no licence needed and renewed it. I have never had a visit or a letter (famous last words 😆), but then again I don’t watch any TV, only stream CZcams & Movies. They can visit all they want, nothing to hide here. I feel better that I’m no longer funding The BBC Pedophile Factory. Good work with your channels, let’s hope more & more cancel & discover there is more to life than a screen in the corner 👍
Same here
Originally, I made the declaration and, within the 2 year period, received a visit. I have never redeclared. The letters, now addressed to the "Legal occupier", don't bother me and why should my name and address be linked on the database of any company with whom I wish to have no dealings, especially a company with Capita's reputation?
Same here, nearly 4 years now, just had to "renew" the NLN
@@Petertronic Then, sadly, you have signed up to a greater likelihood of a visit and linked your name to your address in the database of a disreputable organisation.
Same. Filled out the declaration in September 2020. No visits, no letters. Renewed in September 2022... still no visits or letters.
That said, I won't renew again. I decided to play by the rules initially, but now I consider it harassment.
If the goons call NO THANKS. 👍
It will end badly one day .One will end up with an invite into a house and something nasty will happen
If the goons come to the door turn on the sprinklers. Also, have sprinklers. Preferably fed from a tank with fishy water in. They can't prove anything.
some times its the only time they an get any sort of human interaction and love hahaha
exactly. no interaction, shut door investigation ends 😁
By filling out an NLD form, you're giving them the green light to turn up and say "well you've told us you don't need a license, so you won't have any issue with us coming into your home and having a look about?"
yes but you dont need to let them in
But my point is you say "no thanks" and that gives them reason to be suspicious (wether it's justified or not) they can and WILL use it to pursue/harass you. @@darenliddle4411
Put a 'withdrawal to implied right of access' or 'woira' notice on the front door. Also inform that they are trespassing and you charge £2,500 per infringement. Should dampen their ardour somewhat.
If you don't need one then that's not a problem, You could also tell them you have covid lol
@@keefp07. Many people advise not to do that, because it attracts their attention and makes you look suspicious.
I never told them, I just stopped paying. I received a few letters, then nothing.... Telling them is giving them information I do not wish them to have, I'm quite happy to be addressed as, "The Legal Occupier"
Maybe you aren't "The Legal Occupier" ? What then, Capita . . . ?
Me too. Originally, I made the declaration and, within the 2 year period, received a visit. I have never redeclared. The letters, now addressed to the "Legal occupier", don't bother me and why should my name and address be linked on the database of any company with whom I wish to have no dealings, especially a company with Capita's reputation?
I claimed no license needed and then after the 2years was up the letter said legal occupier again. They probably assume if someone else is living in the property by then they can get them instead.
Removal of implied rights of access on my front door a ring doorbell…. I don’t legally need one as I don’t watch live tv or bbc I player end of story.i don’t even open my front door to them as they’re now trespassing.
Don't declare nothing every letter they send costs them more money. Just ignore them and bin the letters
I completely agree!😂👍
14 years LLF, and not once have I declared NLN, for the same reason I don't tell the police I don't need a FAC, and I don't tell the CAA I don't need a pilots licence, namely it's none of their F***ing business. 😠
My 2 years is up in March. I do not intend to ever contact them again, so I am looking forward to a visit.
I used to work for capita, i was moved from one of their other contracts to tvl when the over 75 change happened (i did it for 9 months till i quit and it wasnt out of choice it was do it or we will basically fire you) and 99 percent of the time your NLN is never even registered if the person behind the pc cant be arsed or if you give them any modicome of push back (i saw it first hand). Declaring nln is also giving them your name and address which ties you to the address and invites the "check" i know you have stated this in your video but as someone who used to work there i wanted to clarify that what he said about the nln stuff is spot on.
I had two visits after doing a no licence needed about 4 years ago, since then I have not bothered doing it again and as you say all I get are letters. Letter dont bother me as I dont even bother to open them, ripped in two and in the bin they go. I kind of miss them visiting though, as I enjoy saying "no thanks" and closing the door on them :o)
It’s one letter unless it has your real name on it you can ignore recycle or do what ever you like it. Some people just LATU or laugh and tear up.
I've been licence free just over 3 years now thanks to your videos Jon. I went down the official No Licence Needed and have had no visits so far. Unlike the spin they claim on their letter that 1 in 8 need a licence, I can genuinely state, I've not watched live broadcasts & honestly don't miss it at all.
Same boat. Haven't watched broadcast TV in 8 years.... Don't come near me.... You would not or could not pay me to watch modern TV.
Me too, I spend the money on CZcams Premium instead. I ignored the letters at first, seeing if they really would come out to me, they didn't. I got bored of the threats after about eighteen months and told them I didn't need one. Still nothing.
I don’t have a TV license.. I’ve filled in the no license required form twice.
Never had a visit.
However, I’m concerned about the ‘news’ programs that come up on my CZcams feed… it’s knowing what you can and can’t listen to/watch
No idea if I've had any visits I don't answer my door if not expecting someone.
Yes, CJ does a great job. Originally, I made the declaration and, within the 2 year period, received a visit. I have never redeclared. The letters, now addressed to the "Legal occupier", don't bother me and why should my name and address be linked on the database of any company with whom I wish to have no dealings, especially a company with Capita's reputation?
best to never even respond to their letters... and never sign anything for them either
I Agree !

Had an interesting conversation with a brain wash individual last week. He said I needed a TV licence to to use CZcams, tick tock and stream games. He said they have detector vans and they will fine me £2000.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Dad's Army, hilarious series
I had a long email conversation with the BBC Data Protection officer. Oddly they told me the ONLY legal stance is to have a licence or to declare no licence needed.... they refused to contemplate people didn't need a licence and didn't need to tell TVL or be on their list- that's how broken the BBC is, they don't know the law, and that's their own DPO!!!
My question about this is "when they send a letter with one of those double-window envelopes that shows my tv licence status to all and sundry, how are they not braking GDPR?"
As for your point- simply say "can you point me in the direction of legislation to prove this? If not then feck off until you can."
they stay 'just' within the law....@@derektaylor2941
It seems to me they think it has the same legal standing as a SORN for a car.
My misses is in her 60s and easily intimidated by the TV licence goons.
I refuse to have a licence on obvious grounds and it's become a source of contention in our house.
So it now stands as this.
If she interacts with them or buys a licence I'll throw the TV out the window and trash it.
She knows I'll keep my word and we now have a much quieter life.
They've been to the house three times in the last two years and I've just told them no thanks and shut the door.
The letters go in the wood burner.
I'm not tolerating this nonsense anymore.
I'm done with them!
fill the form in then so they won't keep coming round.
I know some people refuse to out of principle but they don't come round. The threat of coming round is to fill time in when they've nobody to visit who hasn't told them, or they're in the area and might as well give it a go
@@TrevM0nkey why fill in a form. there's no requirement to fill in a form for any other provider.
As it stands the BBC send letter's to the occupier.
They have no right to know our identity or anything else about us.
I've got three dogs, my son and a baseball bat at home for them to find out about if they push their luck.
From this summer they will find a nice seven foot iron gate and fence to greet them as well.
Their right of implied access ends at that gate and I've just fitted CCTV cameras.
We don't use their product and I refuse to comply or be intimidated by a salesman.
@@matthewblazer7932 You're right there's no requirement.. but there's no harm not doing. Don't fill it in, keep falling out with your wife about it and answering the door to them just because you're a cantankerous old shite who doesn't want to fill in a simple form and stop people knocking at his door.
@@TrevM0nkey you're right I'm definitely a cantankerous old shite 😁.
I'm a builder so I've no problem making it impossible for them to approach the house.
I've got to upgrade the security around my property anyway.
My misses wants the security upgrade because she doesn't like people approaching the house when she's alone and I'm cool with that.
My dog's are also less likely to escape and savage someone.
I refuse to acknowledge the BBC's delusional self perceived authority over any aspect of my life.
Why should I?.

I don't drive an HGV, but the DVLA aren't bothering to write to me all the time to say "if we catch you using an HGV without a Licence we will drag you off to court".
I don't own a shot gun, but the police aren't bothering to write to me all the time to say "if we catch you using a shot gun without a licence we will drag you off to court".
I don't own a TV, but TVL keep on harrasesing me with threatening letters and also sending the bully boys round to intimidate me.
On a lighter note, the very first time I visited the USA, one of the immigration officers asked me if I had my TV Licence with me. Apparently he had previously lived in the UK at some point and had been done by TVL for not having a licence.
That immigration officer probably thought he'd landed in the 19th century when he came here to live, and he learned about the TV tax.
You own a device capable of showing live TV ... you used it to write this comment on CZcams ...
I've declared I don't need a licence twice and in the five years so far I still haven't had a visit. I do live in rural countryside though, in case that had something to do with it.
Same here, after having a licence for years, I decided to do the online declaration ( in 2022 ) and I haven't heard from them since.
Samehere, lived in a flat and didn't get a visit in 9 years. Not bothered declaring it since getting my own house and those letters just go into the bin or saved for a summer fire.
I used to complete the online form and had no visits for around 4 years. Since I've moved out to the country I decided not to bother. Got all the threats as expected, but for the first time I got a (missed) visit the other day. Only lived here for 6 months, so the odds are not looking good
It will make a difference they would rather knock on 20 doors in a town/city rather than drive out to you to just knock on one door
@@kevkyle5893They keep a record of which addresses talk and which ones never answer/tell em to fook off. If your address ends up on the never answer/hostile response list they just stop bothering coming to your address since they know it's time wasted.
I'm still waiting for my sales call at the door and I'm going to ask wether they have any other products they think I might need?
The letters are an auto generated process. Anyone communicating with "the system" are immediately upgraded to frightened rabbit status ripe for skinning.
I done the no licence needed for about 15 years, they always say they will come to check but don't. When my mum moved to sister's flat I stopped watching BBC and live TV. Well since about 2007.
Why should I have to buy a TV licence to watch ITV youtube or Amazon prime? ITV dont get any of the revenue!
The television license is for the BBC. Why don’t they just do a subscription service. If you don’t pay you don’t receive it. Just like sky or other things. I don’t watch television I haven’t done for 20 years.
that would be to fukin easy i only watch tv never the bbc on free view the clue is in the name if i get taken to court
Yes. I do the "No Licence Needed" I've done three to date. No visits so far. I don't want the threatening letters and am happy for them to waste their petrol/diesel upon visiting me should they so choose sometime.
I told them over the phone, even got a £72 refund. Within weeks the letters started, then more letters, they were arriving every month.
Three goon visits followed, non were answered as I wasn't at home (watched them on video doorbell).
The last goon visit I was on holiday in Tenerife, me and the Mrs were watching the goon on my iPad at the poolside lol.
The poor goon was stood there p****d wet through in the Manchester rain.
perfect - that minute of fun paid for the doorbell camera haha
@@jameznash oh it did, we were in stitches, watched the clip a few times since
Yes, I did the nolicence needed declaration a couple of years ago. Have only had one letter and no goons but we do live on the edge of a village where I bet 99.9% of residents do pay for one so not much profit to be had by just me.
I filled out the NLD form back in 2018 after getting rid of my television, which was the best thing I ever did. However, I still occasionally get visits despite cutting the cables to the aerial on the roof. A couple of years ago I filled out the form online only to be sent another reminder three months later. I ignored this and they pretended to send the authorities round claiming to have a court order to search my home. I promptly told them to eff off and things got kind of intimidating afterwards, with threatening phone calls from someone claiming to be a police officer telling me to buy a tv license or else. Eventually I did get through to someone in the BBC who was apparently mystified how this could have happened. No more visits since, and I am also disabled.
Great video as always Jon but to me, Capita are using the dark arts of marketing here where by telling them that you don't need a TV licence, you're unknowingly "warming up" their list of unlicensed addresses. Commercial businesses pay marketing agencies a small fortune to do things like that, Capita have probably got their own in-house team of unethical marketers because no self-respecting marketing agency would take on work like that.
TVL already know which addresses are unlicensed. They know every single property which has a licence and all those that don't. The ones that don't are either NLD or they are not sure if they need a licence.
Yes, no underhand tactic is off limits to Capita. Originally, I made the declaration and, within the 2 year period, received a visit. I have never redeclared. The letters, now addressed to the "Legal occupier", don't bother me and why should my name and address be linked on the database of any company with whom I wish to have no dealings, especially a company with Capita's reputation?
You mention GB News, TalkTv and Sky News. But the thing with those channels is once their live content has aired, the whole thing or certain segments get posted up on CZcams afterwards so you can watch it on your own time.
So there's a round the back door method.
Why GB News, TalkTv and Sky though are they owned by the BBC aswel?🤔
No they're not.
I live in central London, have done no license declarations since 2013, and have never had a visit. Nothing is certain there.
I called and did this and the guy on the phone said shall I just keep it as legal occupier. This was 8 months ago and I have never had a visit
Why can't council tax be like this then I can shut the door on there corrupt tax it would be very sstisfiying
Do you know what the council tax is for?
Or vehicle tax ,you ain't spending on the roads ,pot holes etc so I aint paying
@@freespeechadvocate7492 as far as I know it's for emptying a bin once a fortnight and in my opinion should be a hello of a lot cheaper than what the extortionate amount I have to pay
I have to say, I've been declaring No Licence Needed for the past 15 years and never had a letter or a visit from TV Licencing in all that time, except the letters every 2 years when I just renew my No Licence Needed declaration. It only takes a couple of minutes and, in my case anyway, I believe it's stopped me getting nasty letters or visits from them and doesn't put me to any inconvenience to declare every 2 years. I understand I shouldn't have to do that but it gives me peace of mind that I won't get some rat on my doorstep while my declaration is in force. It's possible that they are getting more heavy with people who have only recently declared No Licence Needed because so many people are now opting out of TV Licence and they're getting worried about it.
Likewise, I declared no licence needed in 2019 and have never seen a so called officer or had any letters, and I live in a town.
Same here so far, from about 2019 also, it's been 4 years now at our new address and just renewed no licence needed last week. I haven't given a name at this address, I just put Occupier as surname on the form.
So if you do watch TV without a licence, just declare that you don't a dd you'll be left alone...
Ditto, no hassle from them at all I just fill in the form every 2 years, for about 15 years now.
I declared a no licence needed and everything was fine no visits etc, then after a year when my licence renewal was due obviously due to a computer system I received 2 threatening letters so rang them again and told them that I didn't need a licence and they said they would update the system. So it seems the 2 year thing doesn't apply
A few years ago, I did the No Licence Needed Declaration, but I did it over the phone. They asked for my name and I told them that I didn't want to give it and they were fine with that, didn't hassle me or anything. I got the confirmation letter and, to be completely fair to them, had no visits and no letters. When it expired, my God, did the letters start again!! With a vengeance and I still get them, threatening visits. I couldn't care less and I genuinely don't need one, but I can't really be bothered with the NLN again, so I'll expect a visit soon, shall I? Lol.
I told em online and cancelled my DD then got 24 letters and three visits... I think it all depends on the area you live they are not coming out to two houses they want maximum visits in a day in one said area.
Can anyone please explain how they get away with the whole "streaming live TV" (not including iPlayer) thing? It's not provided by the BBC and it's over the internet, so it has nothing to do with them, either, so why would I have to pay them for nothing that they provide? It's like the energy company demanding payment for me using water.
No ThankYou BBC...Close the door
Since they stopped my free OAP LICENCE I bought a firestick and informed them what I had done and that I had detuned my tv and removed all aerials. Every 2 years I get a letter as you said and I have never had a visit or other letters from bbc. My wife and I honestly don’t miss live tv and the times we’ve been on holiday and watch licences tv I’m glad we took that decision to watch what we want and no woke rubbish
The tv channels mentioned that are non BBC should be putting pressure on the government to abolish the TV LICENCE SCAM... they are loosing out on advertising revenue because of it...
Sky wanted to, and tried to, but mainly to stop the BBC making quality programs that made them look bad .... no longer an issue, so they stopped
I made a 2-year declaration, and I had no letters for 3 months. Then, on month 4, the threat-o-gram letters started to arrive. I now have now received 33 threat letters from them. Now the letters turn up saying "to the legal occupier".
Legal not lawful
Save the letters and post them under return to sender no stamp needed BBC pay for the postage to be returned to them
@@madcapjourneys9014what if RM trace the letters back to your home address. Unlawful to send mail minus correct postage. I think 💭 the penalty for this is higher than ‘ no licence and caught watching live TV ‘ fine.
Same!🤔😂
‘Return to Sender’ and ‘Not known at this address’ have always been a free service as far as I am aware.
I agree, I did the NLN before and had a visit. I completed one last year, and after a year they started with the letters again. They are now addressed to The Legal Occupier. I'm not completing it. I've had 6 or 7 letters to date.
i did the nld but won't do it again only did it for a refund 😂
I rang them up when I moved into my new house just over 2 years ago to tell them "No Licence Needed"... I gave the address (they already know my address is unlicenced) and they asked for my name, I just politely said "You don't need to know that" they were happy with that and I didn't get any letters for about 2 years, I now get lots of them but they all go in the bin... lol
Its similar to private parking charges, if you respond to them at all they think you're gullible enough to pay their charges
It’s a little different with those. Not responding will go against you in court. Best to appeal with the advice of the experts on the various forums unless it’s an insignificant amount or you have plenty of free time.
@@dwayne_dibley Maybe things have changed under recent corporate governments, but I got that advice from the forums (moneysavingexpert), and a clip from the program Watchdog. The Court doesn't and shouldn't consider the PPC's as anything other than one of the parties in a contract dispute, there is no legal obligation to respond to their charges. And don't fall for their supposed 'independent appeals' either, those are wholly paid for by the PPC's and will rarely find in the defendants favour. Ignore anything from the PPC, but do not ignore anything from the court.
@@dwayne_dibleyI've never paid a parking fine. They don't know who was driving just the owner.

I've read somewhere that 25 Cromwell street is still getting TV licence letters . That address has been knocked down for over 20 years now and it was the BBC that actually reported it 😅😅😅
Filling out the NLN was the worst thing I’ve ever done in my life. The threatening letters went from being once every couple of months to damn near weekly. Got in touch via phone to say “I’ve filled out the no license needed, so why am I still getting letters” they told me they will be sending someone to my house to make sure it’s not needed. Upon telling them there’s a zippo and a can of lighter fluid waiting behind my door for them the letters ramped up again… but still no visits
How so very nice of them to want to visit you to make sure you are sure you don’t need a TV licence……so comforting they are looking after your interests.
Hi Chilli - Have you seen the GB News today - former sec Nadine Dorries - basically - Wishy Washy PM stalled and stalled the Mid term review of BBC licence - so much so that its now too late for the 2027 charter - good news in some ways - ( as they wont do strealth TV tax on your council tax ) so the licence fee is here to stay and their left wing non impartiality and crap tv producton will continue ... with your help ... I cancelled mine 4-5 years ago ... should have done it years ago !!
I have done the no licence declaration for the past 10 years + and I have never had a visit. Even if I did, they wouldn't be allowed access to my property anyway. By engaging with them, it must piss them off so much. That is why I do it. 🤪
We had one visit, we showed them that none of our TV's are capable of broadcasting TV (no aerials or cable boxes), we also told them that TV sucks ass and that me and my mother only watch YT and play video games. Not heard of them for about 3 years now at this address, we also did the same at our previous address. We live in a town sized City
I did the NLN almost 2 years ago because I wanted the refund. No idea about visits, the wife wont answer the door if they have clipboards etc. unless we are expecting a delivery.
We've done the no licence needed. We get left alone, never had a visit, don't get letters. Not arsed if they know who I am. They can still FO!
I did it for the first 4 years and never had a visit.
I stopped doing the declaration about 18months ago, and have loads of letters, but still no visit.

I've declared no licence needed 5 years ago, I haven't had a visit and they don't have my details.
If they're selling the EastEnders Studios, it doesn't bode well for them.
Getting rid of the tv licence is about as unthinkable as the government getting rid of the monarchy 😂
???
Why is Amazon Prime Video om their list? After all i’m paying for it and it’s a streaming video service just like Netflix? 🤷🏼♂️
We should not be forced to pay......BBC is outdated......People are going to prison, and fined up £1000 this is not right....
@@FlorinG. I was thinking the same thing aswel as sky itv and the others it mentioned?🤔
I've declared that I need no license. The last time I did this was about a year ago.
If you respond online they ask for an email address and you cannot complete this without an email address.
I am not prepared to give that.
So, I made the declaration via their automated phone service and it was quick and easy.
I didn't give them a name or email address, they still know me as " the occupier ".
If anyone from TVL comes to visit they will be told politely to leave.
I've renewed my no licence needed application again long before that I disconnected my TV Ariel. I only stream or watch Bluray Films and boxsets. As for live TV, if it's anything I've seen whilst visiting people over the year's. There's absolutely nothing on BBC or Terrestrial TV I have any interest in watching. They can send their goons if they must. I've no intention of paying for anything that I don't need or use.
I am in exactly the same situation, cancelled my licence 14 months ago and not missed the TV one bit. I probably won't renew my no licence needed as I suspect it will do no good.
I must admit I was intimidated by potential harassment for a few years and paid when I didn't watch much TV, I monitored my viewing habits for 2 months then decided I just didn't watch enough to justify the cost, found I didn't look back and don't miss it at all.
i've done no license required for over 10 years i live in a big city and never had a visit
After getting about 1 piece of junk mail a week from the second i moved in, i filled in the NLN declaration just for environmental reasons. But i put my name as "Legal Occupier" since that's what they put on their letters. Not had a letter since. If they start sending more I'll scrub my address and post them as "return to sender".
Door to door salesman is now illegal in this country
The goons do their rounds every 3 years, in between you just keep getting toilet paper through your door.
Id rather they waste the money on postage than make any contact with them,

I live in a large town, I've declared no license needed twice over the years and had no visit. But now I'm typing this I suspect I've cursed myself 😅
On LBC, last night, it said there were over 3k of prosecution for non payment of tv licence. Check it out
How many in Scotland ?
I agree ....i refuse to have any dealings with them...anyway I enjoy the letters
As an outsider not from the UK never quite understood the TV license concept. It sounds like a gross over reach of a tyrannical authority.
I can't fill the no licence needed declaration without lying about it, as it asks do you watch TV - I do, just not TV as it's being broadcasted as per the law.
I just mentioned your channel on Facebook mate to tell other people thank you Jon
For me it’s best that I am known as “The Occupier”, the less the engagement the better. If you do the no licence needed declaration, with all the details you provide you’re engaging in a contract. No contract then no contract to perform.
Enjoy watching or download BBC programs? what if you watch a BBC program, but didn't enjoy it?
i did the no licence needed the first time just so i'd get my refund, that was 4 years ago, never did it since and i've moved home since then
Thought to add here Jon that since I first saw you on CZcams, I cancelled my licence and haven't bothered buying one since - 3 years ago now even though, I still get the letters!. Interestingly, the missus (who wasn't 100% on-board with my decision) had a small operation the other week and was sat in Hospital for 24 hours to recuperate and all she had was the Beeb (1&2) and a few ITV channels. She literally couldn't wait to get home to watch what she wanted, when she wanted and how she wanted where there are no adverts for charity every 15 minutes and mind-numbing BBC programs - most of which she's seen before anyway. The point being, if people just took a two week vacation from Broadcast TV and iPlayer, they'd soon realise that the £157 fee isn't worth a penny. Keep up the good work mate and thanks again for your devotion for trying to get rid of this taxation for the Government Broadcasting Corporation.
No Contact, No contract ! 👍
IF it was a LEGITIMATE Declaration of No Licence Required it would be like the DVLA’s SORN - Statutory Off Road Notification. You do it once and never have to do it again (unless you later decide to put your vehicle back on the road and pay Road Tax/VED - Vehicle Excise Duty).
I’ve called up every time not giving them my details and information and in 12 years I’ve never had a visit
I told TV licence that I don't need TV licence and clicked no on everything but they still trying to get me to buy one
Stating you'll NEED a TV licence if you watch or stream live content through online services, even naming CZcams, is a blatant lie. You MAY need a licence for that, depending on what channels you watch, but they don't say that, do they.
It's not a lie they state watching broadcasts live, not yitrube, CZcams non broadcast live, pretty simple really, as long as not a broadcast live ie sky news on CZcams live as broadcast on tv then that's fine, it's all on tv licensing website or u can email or talk on, phone to discuss in more detail
@@mpol701 Yes, it's a lie. They state you'll NEED a licence to watch live content through online services, then name CZcams as one of those services, which is NOT a TV service.
@@stevegee8010 yes would only need a licence I'd say watching a tv broadcast live on CZcams, like sky tv live or itn, bbc, cnn, abc, fox
@@mpol701 Exactly.
When I decided I didn't need a TV license. I rang and did the right thing. I told them I didn't need a TV license. But did it stop the goons from coming around? No. If anything they came around more often. But if you do ring them and say you don't need a TV license. They now have the info they need to take you to court. They will try any trick to catch you out
Doesn't guarantee you a visit.. I'm three years in after telling them and not even a sniff of a visit. I got the renewal letter and that was it, went back on, renewed and still nothing.
If somebody does come round I'll ask if they're accusing me of lying or being stupid, and not knowing what live TV is... ten seconds later they'll be told to .... off and the door closed.
I called them up & did the "No license needed" bit a few years ago but have not renewed it since. I received my first letter from them a few days ago which looked a lot like the letter you were referencing here. Said letter also had my name & address on it. Mine went in the bin, after forwarding it on to you. It's been a while since I called them - I might just contact them them again to have my personal details removed from their database.
Bravo Chilli Jon... Awesome showing again... On point yet again....totally agree with your all your points echoes my own logic on the matter. They make it so stupidly complex for a matter that could be so easily resolved.... Its so maddening.....Keep em coming my unfettered support...
Another great video Jon - good job.
I personally have never watched live TV, Sky, or any of the other things a license is needed for, so I've always done the No License Needed declaration ever since I first moved out of my parent's house back in 2012. I've never actually had a visit from any goons (long may it continue!) And thanks to your channel, I know that even if they do ever turn up, I just say "No thanks" and shut the door. I really do appreciate your content though, 'cause without it if any of the lads ever did knock my door I'd probably do the typical British thing of "Oh, yes, no problem, come in." and end up getting a licence that I don't need foisted upon me. Keep up the good work, pal 👍
I've never thought about it before, but now you mention it... I've not watched tv for maybe longer than 15 years... the only visits I EVER got was when I declared "No License Needed" ... for well over a decade now I've just binned every letter without even opening them (they're easy to identify) and in all that time I've never had a single visit! CZcams and Twitch more than provide enough for me and I dont feel I'm missing anything to be honest!
Remove the implied right of access by righting to capital/BBC licence and removing it from all parties. Job done no visits.
I'm 41 and have lived on my own for 20+ years. I've never had a licence and never watched TV. Before streaming was big, I used to sail the high sea's, After a 20 min chat with 1 of them on the phone, trying to understand why it was only valid for 2 years, they confirmed that it is company policy.
Ok, fine. Problem with that is, I'm not subject to company policy because I don't work there. There is no law that say's you must declare every 2 years, just a company policy they enforce on the public.
John is absolutely correct, when you interact with TVL you're actually interacting with an automated sales funnel ‼️ The letters are the top of the sales funnel, so as soon as you respond, you go into the middle section of the sales funnel. As John mentions, this gives TVL more information AND this highlights you as a Qualified sales lead‼️‼️‼️
There are likely other variables, as John mentioned, if you live in a densely populated area and an agent is already in the area, then it is likely that their automation will group these entities (addresses) together for "sales visits"
TVL is run on a CRM software...... which is essentially automatically filtering leads, letters and monitoring, measuring effectiveness of campaigns to drive up TV licence "sales"
We completed the declaration 6 years ago, got a refund... Hear'd nothing from them since, not even a letter.
Did you do the no firearm's licence declaration with the police too?
No - Relevant much???

I had the same letter recently.
The bin enjoyed it.
I am the same as you. Used to declare no license needed.
I even let a goon into my house to prove legitimacy.
Did the no license needed every 2 years.
But now I’m thinking “who do they think they are”
Just ignore them now.
Don’t miss watching the tv at all.
Even told the goon I cancelled my licence because it was rubbish.
After having a licence for 18 years, I decided to do the online no licence needed declaration in 2022 and tbh I have not heard from them since. Whilst I understand you don't have to contact them, it does stop the harassment.
In that case expect a letter in the post very soon lol!😂✌️
An Impending Visit for sure.. only a matter of time for you.
cant wait :)
If u do it the right way go unlicensed official the majority as seen on comments here aren't getting letters or visits, yes sone may but it's the best way to go non licensed
If I get a letter then ok after 15 years won't worry me and I'll let them in as I don't watch live TV or use iPlayer
