Former police officer here...I have lost count of how many times I have been in this kind of situation. I can 100% relate to the way this officer is feeling. Its not anger. Its an odd mix of disappointment and frustration.
It’s important to see but not important to shame. I was a restaurant manager in the Cleveland area of Ohio during the rise of the heroin/narcan epidemic and had people OD in my restroom and lobby. Just to see things like this and know some people are dealing with things you may never understand, it’s ok to be aware and in some cases know how to help save a life
It doesn’t happen overnight, nor is it something people want to be addicted too. Or happens over long periods of time it’s literally disease sadly. But there is hope of the person really wants the change

I used to PA on film sets allll over town and this was 2016-2021 so fentanyl was still developing into a problem and I watched it happen. Worked at the Union Street mission one day and met some guys who were getting back on their feet and I’ll never forget that feeling of hope, grief, confusion, and resentment all at the same time. What I’ve learned though is that a single helping hand makes all the difference in the world. One brief moment can save a life. And there are many to be saved, in many places, in many phases.
Because you done such a good job stopping herion an coke coming into the city they all smoke an inject fentanyl and other crazy shit now so well done 👏
With ease of access and nowhere to go when you have a mental breakdown. Winding up like this is just too easy in blue states. Life is unfair, and it will make you tougher when you can make it out the other side of all the things that go wrong in your life with your head held high. We are all human first. And we need tough love to make sure we all stay on the path to success.
@MG-dl9ib unfortunately not just a blue state issue but the fact you pointed out prevalence in major city states screams wtf are we doing 2024....idk how ppl could vote the same this year with the last 4 years being an obvious decline. It doesn't have to be Trump but anything other than biden.
For those who don't know. Even when you give narcan, the overd*se isn't over. Narcan blocks receptors that the body absorbs dr*gs through. Once the narcan wears off, the dr*gs pass back into those receptors and can cause another overd*se. It's very important go get help after narcan, it just buys time.
Sometimes yes sometimes no. Heroin has a much longer duration of action than something like fentanyl. The danger from fentanyl doesn't come from it's duration of action but more from its power of action. Fentanyl has an effect duration (or more so danger of overdose) in the 2-4 hour range. Heroin on the other hand has duration of effect in 6-8 hour range (sometimes less depending on tolerance). With a heroin overdose there's a substantial cause for concern for ODing again after narcan. For fentanyl, it's less of a concern because successful narcan administration lasts for 1-2 hours and slowly tapers off from there. Narcan can successfully treat a fentanyl overdose without too much concern for a user overdosing again unless they take another dose (which they likely will). You'd be more concerned if the person either weren't responsive to narcan or were on such a high dose of fentanyl to be considered in a coma.
Cop still should of put him in an ambulance after though regardless. Everyone reacts differently to narcan. Depending on the amount of drugs and types used whether in combination or not. But the cop did look like it's something he does all the time. You can see it on his face.

Narcan works… I overdosed, 5.5 years ago… took 3 nasals to wake me up… I entered rehab & got clean 2dayz later… been clean since… now I’m a lead journeyman electrician, I make 90-100k a year.. I’m about to propose to my gf… narcan & a friend saved my life and I’ll never go back…
Just proof that gettin clean is more than possible and you can absolutely turn your life back around… granted I’ve been an electrician my whole life… but I still had to work hard to get back to the top of my trade… I shot heroin for 12yrs and was completely homeless for the last 6 yrs of my addiction.
I was an IV heroin addict for 8+ years. I have been clean now for 4 years, with my own home, two cars, I own my own business I can pay my bills with AND I am a present mother for my 3 year old son. If I can do it, YOU CAN!! We do recover, “I can get high tomorrow, just never today” is a statement that helped me through my first year ❤
I know exactly how that sleep feels. Not my finest moments in life. I'm so thankful I lived thru it and it's just a distant memory of my sad & destructful past. I pray these lost souls are found & given a reason to change. 🙏

@@360gwalo Narcan just nullifies the opiates effects. but as soon as the Narcan wears off the opiates are still in the system and kick back in. They have to get him on an IV of meds that counteract the opiates till they are no longer in the system.
It puts you in something called precipitated withdrawal which is the worst torture anyone can go through. It's withdrawal but tenfold. It blocks your opiate receptors and any opiate left in the system will send you through 6-48 hours of absolute hell. Shakes, restlessnes, sweating, diarrhea, hot and cold sweats, nasua. This guy hardly received the narcan as he deployed it poorly which is why this guy just stumbles off, usually it's much different@@misslucky-ql8me
My father is a fire captain, and when he used narcan on a guy to wake him up, the dude woke up and spit in my dads face and yelled “you killed my high” … he never gets frustrated or angry, just disappointed.
He pushed it to past quite possibly. You’re supposed to administer 2 mg at a time supporting their breathing via BVM O2 until you restore the respiratory drive adequately with the naloxone. if you administer it too quickly, you throw them immediately into withdrawal instead of simply saving their life and it feels like your bones are made of class. They’re going to puke and shit themselves, they immediately go because they are horrific extreme withdrawal can also cause pulmonary edema, which is very much not fun. 😅
Aweeeee praying for everyone battling addiction, also to everyone reclaiming sobriety 🙌🏽😫❤️ that’s not easy whatsoever ppl will give up on you but please never give up on yourself and your journey 🙏🏽

"I was dependent on drugs for over a decade, but now I am clean. I used to rely on various drugs to cope with life's challenges, thinking it would make things easier. However, I discovered that life becomes even more difficult when you are under the influence. That realization prompted me to quit using drugs and instead focus on training to improve my mental health. This decision has made a significant positive impact on my life. My next goal is to secure a place to live and embark on a new journey by finding employment."
Agreed, so many do. He cares enough to help save his life from ODing. I hate drugs and I feel for people who are addicted. They are escaping pain. I've been down a road of horror as a child and know that BS well. Compassion, this is it and they deal with it in high volume every day. Glad he's alive. Thank you officer
@@ClaireRobinson-rq8jvyou don't think it's unethical for all of those other people to just walk by? It's INLY the coos problem to save this guy? He was alone in those steps with that gentleman that might have been on the brink of death. People could have called for an ambulance too instead of walking by it stepping over him. It's a shame there are so many drugs and they do this to people & even harder for them to come back to "themselves" eventually.
@@dianabrown7766 I was responding to the comment that the cop should get a medal. I have saved over 20 lives thru giving them narcan and calling ambulances and I am an ex addict been clean for over 20 yrs, so I have lived the lifestyle of a addict aswell.
This hurts my soul. I have been in recovery for 18 years and became an addiction counselor about eight years in. We kept a supply of Narcan in our office because of the high instance of first-time patients overdosing right in the middle of group. I still carry it in my purse. I hope this young man gets help.
@Soul_Alpha while 18 years is amazing I've been told by former addicts they never stop recovery. Some will say they will never be "cured" because there's always temptation. For them it's a mind set of not getting to comfortable. This isn't everyone but ive been told it by a few upwards of 26 years of recovery.
It’s fuckin heartbreaking. I was an addict, I’ve been clean for a year. But to be the one watching, it’s so sad. That’s somebody’s child, somebody’s family. I hope he gets clean.
That must be K&A in Philly and probably like his 100th time that day reviving someone. This is heartbreaking. I keep thinking it's somebody's family laying out there. Having worked on a drug n alcohol psych unit at Penn for 15yrs, I KNOW it's somebody's family. 😪🙏🏾💔
It’s literally the Walking Dead out there and the Narcan gives them that boost of life. So heartbreaking to see people like this. My dad was a police officer for 35 years and and 20 years after retiring he still has stories to tell. I pray for these people, the police officers and first responders out there. Our nurses, our doctors and the family members who have to be everything ❤️❤️❤️
What boost of life are you talking about ? It takes away their high, in most cases it doesn’t work if the person is getting high by themselves. And most users don’t carry narcan with them
Yeah I agree but on top of praying for the first responders you should also pray for the families that these people have completely screwed over. Nobody became an addict like that without f****** a lot of people in their way. They are ruthless and look for any way to screw somebody over so that they can get the money or steal something from you so they can get what they want. It's a terrible addiction I agree. However they stop at nothing. Nobody puts a needle in their arm and thinks this is a good idea. They just do it
And don't forget all the dedicated homeless shelter staff who show up to work every day or night with very little wage compensations . It's not about money. It's all about humanity ❤️
I remember during my EMT clinicals, we responded to a call of a man laying down and not moving, it was obvious man was overdosing when we got there, we applied narcan and when He woke up, he flipped on us that we just ruined his Highness.
That is so sad, addiction is the thief that never gets caught it robs you of everything good in your life. I hope this man gets the help that he deserves bc he is worth it!
@Crystal-be9ze. I Agree! It's the non-gift that keeps taking. We don't need to go to war with other countries. Drugs are killing us from the inside-out...drugs and bio-warfare (maybe disguised as an accident?) from another country.
And for that sentences, it's my last gram of weed I'm about to smoke. I dont want to feel like that guy. I feel sorry and now I realize, after 7 years of smoking, man, shit, I WILL NOT HANG ON A STAIR GET SPOTTED BY A COP AND WOKEN UP TO A NARCAN MAN - Sorry for that guy, wish I could take him into my place and give him shelter.
It was their choice in the first place the compassion for these types of people isnt going to help them no one can help them but their self and that starts with admitting you have a problem and wanting to get help no saying it then going back to the same shit drugs are hare to give up i understand that but they need to help themselves before anyone else can
That’s sad and bring tears to my eyes because he’s someone child, brother, uncle, father, cousin! The choices an individual effects other. Praying that he will get the help he needs
Narcan works. I overdosed 15 years ago. i was 20 back then. I became clean and now have 4 kids 14, 8,11 year old sons. and recently my 8 month old pricess. Now im loving the life im living. im 35 years today and havent felt better.
So when you got clean you immediately got pregnant or…? You said 15 years/you’re 35 now… and your oldest is 14. You got clean and were pregnant a couple months later? Best guess I’ve got. Unless you got clean BECAUSE you got pregnant?? The timeline just stuck out to me, sorry. I’m happy for you.
@@lydiaalvrc1932 it's called Narcan. It brings people back from opioid overdose. (Herion, fentanyl, etc) a lot of people carry them including myself. You never know when it will be needed. 😢
Narcan saved me 2x ❤im 9 years sober . Broken children make broken adults. Resolve your trauma now. Self love God makes NO mistakes. And i love you too. Now get sober.❤❤❤
I’m the daughter to a drug addict. Unfortunately I’ve had to Narcan my own mother twice. She was extremely physical each time coming off her high. I pray for not just her sobriety but for others ❤
I'm 2 years & 4 months sober. I've also had to have Narcan given to me, and between that and CPR, I survived. But I kept using bc I was so deep into it. But then after my dad died from Covid, my mom, who was already a recovering drug addict from when I was a child, started using a lot. One day we were using & as she took her first hit, she exhaled and then never took another breath back in. So I immediately called 911 and got her on the ground, but I didn't have any Narcan (so stupid) and I started CPR immediately, they got here so fast and gave her Narcan and she came out of it. And neither of us have used since then. It's been 2 years and 4 months like I said. I'm not sure why but having it done to me wasn't enough, but me having to do it to her was enough. We're very close. Even as a child when she was using, she was still the best mom. I actually got so lucky in that aspect. I've seen kids of other addicts have it so bad. But we're closer than ever now. We've been doing therapy together and working through everything. I love her so much. She's my best friend. I also always carry Narcan now just in case anyone I come across might need it. I'm also very grateful for the paramedics that got here so quickly. They're my heroes.❤
Yeah, they get pissed because their high is instantly ruined. I had a roommate who was pretty shitty to me after having to Narcan him. I walked into my bathroom to him on the floor, hardly breathing. He was staying with us to get off the streets, get sober & get a job. He did so well until he got his first bigger paycheck 😢
Sad scene- from the disappointed officer, to the man wasting his life, to the kids paying attention to every detail, while the passerby’s are just accustomed to the tragedy. Life.
I was an IV heron addict for years, too. I got clean on 8/19/08. I'll be sixteen years this year. I own my own business, Pizzazz Piercing and Tattoo in Gainesville, FL. I bought my first brand new car in April of 22. I just bought my first house. It took me a decade to fix my credit enough to be able to make big purchases, but I did it. My oldest son and his wife just made me a grandmother. My youngest son, 14, has never known the addict version of me. My track mark scares will never disappear, and I don't want them to. They are my proof that we can make it. We do recover! 💜🖤💜 I hope this man finds himself. I'm grateful the policeman was there.
Good for you. It must have been a very hard journey. I'm a former police and it makes me happy when a person can dig themselves out of that trap of addiction.
Wow .. Ty for sharing that.. I’m from Florida too.. whole different ball game here.. I use to come to Gainesville a lot.. But always got pulled over in waldo.. might be spelled wrong? You know we’re I’m talking about the lil speed trap?? Omg it’s sooo serious there
Man, the demons people battle is truly heart breaking. He’s someone’s child; someone who once had hope, and light behind their eyes, but substances got the best of him. I pray he and anyone else who’s battling addiction finds peace and serenity sooner than later.
I had a patient cuss me out when I administered narcan to her. She was breathing 4 breaths per min. I couldn’t believe it! She gave herself a bolus from her PCA pump and almost OD! Anyway, I messed up whatever dreamland she was entering. That fact that people are using this drug in the streets is mind blowing and sad. 😔
Please pray for anyone who has became a victim to drugs use it’s a battle man please pray for them and I hope that one day they will be strong enough to overcome their addiction
@@thomaskovacs5094depends on what they're ODing on. Some people really do just go back to normal, but it's only temporary. You still need medical treatment to monitor and fix what is happening.
He was most likely fine. That's just the normal effects of the drugs. Signs of overdose are things like respiration suppression, foaming at the mouth, face turning blue from lack of oxygen, etc.
As a person in recovery this video is tough. I understand the cops frustration and I also understand first hand how lost that man currently is. Good news. We can recover but it's not easy. I'll pray this man finds help
I lost count years ago on how many ppl I gave Narcan too. One night we had 5 overdoses in the same trailer park at the same time, back to back calls when a batch of bad shit laced with fentanyl came out.

Brought me back I'm years clean married lil boy on the way work full time so it's possible. Who knows maybe that guy will get better and save someone's life one day...or maybe he's already dead and most likely but you never really know
Has nothing to do with potency. Naloxone is scientifically perfect for dealing with overdoses as it separates the opioids from your receptors. It just sends you into immediate withdrawal. Nothing to do with potency but i get your point. It’s absolutely effective and efficient. As someone who takes suboxone (narcan and opioids) everyday i can personally attest to its effectiveness
I gave CPR for almost 40 minutes to someone who OD'd. Horrible, terrifying experience. The medics had to give him 2doses to bring him back. I honestly didnt think i was going to be able to save him. Hope you're doing well buddy! God bless
Some. People go to a point of no return have lost hoped there's people that chose that life because they think God hates them no looking back like some killers
Ever since chapo was captured his sons vowed war with the Americans by poisoning them with fentanyl chapo would of never allowed fentanyl to be sold and China is selling them the base products for meth and fety its fkd up
Well, now we have all of these millions of illegals to add to this mess. Oh, nevermind, congress is voting on a bill that allows those millions of military aged men to be police and military. Kinda makes you wonder if that wasnt the plan all along. Literally being invaded without a shot fired.
I wouldn’t say he understands the situation, more so disappointed, maybe disgusted, or irritated that these people are so messed up and after saving him he’s just gonna go and do it again. It’s sad.
Inset deep into nose. Push out and away. Slam the plunger so the medication mists. That way it goes into the sinuses and gets absorbed better to do its job. Narcan often has a shorter life than the opiate (heroin, fentanyl, morphine, etc) that they have OD’d on. It is important to be seen by a hospital because when the narcan stops working, the opiate can still be in the system and the individual can re-overdose
Clean from benzo and opioid addiction for 3 years this April. Can’t believe I made it- I like to show that I’m a recovered addict and I will never be ashamed of it because I am living proof you can get clean and turn your life around- along with any other recovered addict out there you beat your addiction and you are AMAZING❤
I'm also very open about my addiction. I was on heroin then just pure fentanyl up until 2019/2020. I've been clean 4 years now. I would never in my life wish it on anyone not even my worst enemy. I've lost so many people I love. just last year I lost my ex gf to an overdose. I've lost cousins, friends, I've saved multiple people from overdose only for them to still end up dying eventually anyways. it's a hard fight and anyone who hasn't dealt with opiate addiction can't even begin to understand the kind of strength it takes to fight through that hell. narcan saved me multiple times and I was actuallt mad at the police for it but they saved my life in the end.
Nice!!! I’ll have two years off fentanyl in 2 months. Such a great feeling I wish others could experience for themselves. We know what it feels like when life comes to a full darkness and we no longer can find light in it. I thought that was the end for me and I wouldn’t feel happiness again in my life. If we could do it, everyone else can. It’s just difficult accepting and wanting the help to begin with. I wanted the help but wouldn’t accept it for so many years. May god be with those in their tough addictions 🙏🏻
Or maybe focus on the issues why these people take drugs in the first place. War on drugs never worked and never will. Your jails are already full of drugscriminals and are just replaced with new people.

They are likely on something and called the cops to keep him from OD
@MG-dl9ib unfortunately not just a blue state issue but the fact you pointed out prevalence in major city states screams wtf are we doing 2024....idk how ppl could vote the same this year with the last 4 years being an obvious decline. It doesn't have to be Trump but anything other than biden.
Doubtful. Between a life of dread and trying to have a good time. You get hooked.

The only type of help these guys want is help to get high next they should have never even wasted the narcan

They just do it
They do it out of complete selfishness.
And don't forget all the dedicated homeless shelter staff who show up to work every day or night with very little wage compensations . It's not about money. It's all about humanity ❤️
Believe his ass was sick for the next 24 hours as he cannot get high nor will the drug affect him. 10 muns or less later he was deathly sick

So sorry
So sorry

Cop littering too🤬
Ever since chapo was captured his sons vowed war with the Americans by poisoning them with fentanyl chapo would of never allowed fentanyl to be sold and China is selling them the base products for meth and fety its fkd up
Well, now we have all of these millions of illegals to add to this mess.
Oh, nevermind, congress is voting on a bill that allows those millions of military aged men to be police and military. Kinda makes you wonder if that wasnt the plan all along. Literally being invaded without a shot fired.
I find it funny. Free country. Unless he was held at gun point to do drugs than yes sad
I'm just proud to see that the cop understood the situation
PROUD?!?!
I wouldn’t say he understands the situation, more so disappointed, maybe disgusted, or irritated that these people are so messed up and after saving him he’s just gonna go and do it again. It’s sad.
It's that simple for them to do there Job
@@Inkdbymiamifuck all that that his fuckin Job
Inset deep into nose. Push out and away. Slam the plunger so the medication mists. That way it goes into the sinuses and gets absorbed better to do its job.
Narcan often has a shorter life than the opiate (heroin, fentanyl, morphine, etc) that they have OD’d on. It is important to be seen by a hospital because when the narcan stops working, the opiate can still be in the system and the individual can re-overdose
Guy is probably pissed that the cop spoiled his high.
Damn straight I agree
@@lushiouslover420 love to know that there’s other people out there like you- makes me have a little bit more hope in the world
I'm also very open about my addiction.
So much respect brother
My heart goes out to everyone affected by addiction - those addicted and their families who care about them and want them well.
Affected?? Lol... they put it on themselves
@@salil808dont look down on something you have never endured just be glad you and your loved ones arent affected
YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM
just say no, it's not that hard.
If you really care how about you give them all your hard earned money and see where it leads
Got the tiniest bit of consciousness back, saw the police and knew he had to get out of there immediately 😂
In his reality he was running from the cop😂
Arrest the politicians who let drug cartels and drug trade flourish.
Arrest politicians like trump and Clinton that are friends with child traffickers knowingly
Or maybe focus on the issues why these people take drugs in the first place.
War on drugs never worked and never will. Your jails are already full of drugscriminals and are just replaced with new people.
WOOOOOOOO 🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨
Commercialize drugs and capitalize off of the lesser beings that can't control themselves.
@@verg8460 people take drugs because of neglect and negativity usually from childhood.
It all starts from home
