    In this free guitar lesson, I explain why you should use a capo. Some people think using a capo on guitar is a sissy way to transpose a piece of music. But using a capo on guitar is about more than just playing in different keys-it’s about making use of chord shapes that make your playing sound better.

    Great video, Desi, and great topic! Knowing how to use a capo is vital to any serious guitar player, for all the reasons you described. I think most people think of a capo as one dimensional, but it's really multifaceted. I think the fact that so many great artists over the years have made use of it speaks for itself. Thanks!

    Soooo I was already enjoying the lesson, especially when I saw the PRS, but as soon as I heard the sound of the sound at 10:24 I was like this sounds like a Christian song. Now I'm definitely going to subscribe. Nice work!!!

    Excellent video and needed. So many Artists use a capo and options seem to be many by using one. What capo are you using Desi?

    Hi Desi, what are your thoughts or recommendations on the “roller” type capo’s.? Thanks Ray

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey, Ray. I hope you're doing well. I recently bought a roller capo. It's a little difficult getting it attached, but once it's on it's easy to move around. I bought it for situations where I need to transpose quickly like at church when we have a key change in the middle of a song or when we transition from one song to the next immediately. If you don't need to transpose quickly, a regular capo is best.

    Can I use my capo on electronic guitar as well as I use on acoustic guitar? Or should i get a new capo for electronic guitar?

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  Před rokem

      Yes, although you may need to find a capo that fits properly depending on each guitar's neck shape. I'm able to use the same capo on all my guitars.

    Go ahead use capo ..be aware of denting your frets.. honestly the only time I use capo when I want check neck relief.

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  Před 2 lety

      Guitars are made to be played. The more use you get out of your guitar, the more worn the frets will be become regardless of whether you use a capo or not.

    • @peelarat9578
      @peelarat9578 Před 2 lety

      @@desisernaguitar totally agree with you. I just get less wear with lighter strings and I have light touch so I rarely see any more dents. When I used the heavier guage noticed it more especially top register. The capo doesnt wear it out. Now the only.time use capo when checking neck relief.
