    Joe Walsh is an amazing guitarist. I love his early work especially when this song was recorded. His use of adding a percussive backend to his rhythm to fill the void of being the lone guitarist was genius. If you see his live performances back then with his attack of full balls out energy, it's awe inspiring. Thanks so much!

      I am sorry, and I am not trying to bash this dude but Joe plays this tune TOTALLY different. His actual notes are right but it is not even close to how it is played. Joe is the reason I play guitar and have since 1980. Go and watch Joe or the Eagles live and you will see how wrong this is. But if you want to be way off base you are welcome to play it like this man. Joe is wrapping his thumb and he is sliding from fret to fret and barring with his third finger.

      Sorry to burst your bubble, and I am NOT trying to be a prick. The solo is about the only accurate part, so kudos to the gentleman for that. Joe is playing it with his thumb over his E string (as so many 70`s guys did) and his fingers in a F shape ( index B 5th fret , Middle G 6th and ring 7th) and for the D he just barre`s (yes Barre) the D & G at the 7th fret. Just check out him doing it live and you will see it as plain as day. Yes, players do sometimes play live differently as I am sure you know, but not here.

      @@desisernaguitar good idea, James gang was a very influential band back then. Jimmy page got his lp from Joe Walsh and that black suit looks like the one Dale Peter's had before he got one similar. So I think even Led Zeppelin copied James Gang.

      @@luismangiaterra1031 The riff on "Whole Lotta Love" is a Joe thing. Most people don`t play the riff correctly, just play it straight. But Jimmy keeps his D string open thru the entire riff with a very subtle bend on the A string that gives it a "rude" sound. Jimmy got that quirky thing from Joe`s bag of goodies. Give it a try Louis. At first it is tricky cuz you hit the open D by accident and it mutes the note. Arch your index finger, bend the A a tiny bit so D rings giving it that rude, or sour sound.

      @@luismangiaterra1031 Just look at the fame that Les Paul has. Joe had a `58 and a `59, but hated the fat neck on all `59`s. So when Pagey could not find a Les Paul in London, Joe was willing to give up the `59. Jimmy gave him $500 for it. He thought the neck was too fat as well so he had it shaved down to his satisfaction. I shave almost all of my guitars` necks as well. It makes a huge difference. It is faster and you have more control bending the strings and other good shit man.

    Joe is NOT using reverb or delay..... dude

    • @desisernaguitar
      @desisernaguitar  Pƙed 2 lety +1

      While Joe may have not used reverb and delay as part of his signal chain, these effects are almost always added in post production by the sound engineer. They give the guitar sound more sustain, depth, and help the guitar sit in the mix properly. I'm using post effects too actually. I added the reverb and delay after the amp section in my Kemper Profiling Amplifier. It would sound dry and lifeless if I had not added these effects.

      He was noted for hacking his “priceless “ LP,s experimenting with welding iron plates, etc to get more sustain. He’s always been a very technical, take-it-apart-and-hack-it guy - from the very beginning.
